My car is having issues turning on. It is brand new 2015 from a Honda certified lot. Upon startup I hear a grinding or whining noise from the starter area. (not always) maybe a faulty starter motor and incorrect positioning of the torque converter ring gear, the gear with which the starter meshes to spin the engine at startup. It is a problem I have every day when I try to turn on my car. Sometime it goes on the first press start, other times, I've waited an hour in my car trying to turn it on to get to my next destination.

Car won't start even with the key in it. Didn't have this problem before, along with the airbag light is now on. Prior to bringing the car to Honda Accord dealer for the other recalls none of this was a problem. Now my car makes a sound while I'm driving like a rattle sound along with the airbag light being on. The other day I started the car and only the lights and everything else turns on but the car engine won't start. It's problem after problem now that I brought it to them for recall. The vechicle was only driven to work and back from the time I took it to them. Then I hen I tried to drive it again the car wouldn't start, and airbag light is on. I took it to them and they worked on 4 things According to the recall however more things seems to be the problem and they didn't do all that.

When starting up my 2008 Honda Accord, I experience a very loud rattling noise coming from the vtc actuator. This is a very common problem among Honda engines. Hundreds of thousands of people have experienced the same problem. Honda needs to own up to the fact that the actuator they put in my car is faulty and can lead to many more problems.

My car has a high oil consumption problem, which is causing rattling sound to come from the engine. I'm afraid that my engine might catch file because of excessive oil consumption. It looks like this is a known problem, and there has been a recall as well. Every time are start my vehicle it makes a grinding rattling noise, this issue has been going on for some time now and the noise it makes seems to be lasting longer every time we start it. The vehicle is not moving, it is in park, it only occurs when I start it up.

Engine oil consumption is more and causing burning of engine oil very frequently. This is causing rattling noise when accelarating and would cause more damage to engine and can be hazardous if driving on highway.

My engine makes a loud rattling sound for 2-3 seconds after a cold start-up, especially after the car sat overnight. After 2-3 seconds, the sound goes away. According to Honda TSB, the vtc actuator is faulty and needs to be replaced to resolve the problem. If left untreated, the timing chain can be stretched which leads to reduced fuel economy and possibly other engine problems. Up to the time of this complaint, Honda has not yet issued any recall for this problem. My Honda dealer quoted me $680 to replace the vtc actuator. My vehicle's warranty has expired so if I want to have it replaced, I will have to pay out of pocket. I really love my Accord. I don't understand why a big auto manufacturer like Honda hasn't done anything, given this is a common problem which happens to many vehicles already.

He thinks some of the gears were not matching up. The dealer hennessy Honda of woodstock 8931 GA-92, woodstock, GA 30189 (770) 924-9000 stated that since the warrenty was expired they would not cover the expenses and there were also no recalls. They also descussed that a TSB that had also come out on the issue. The manufacturer was called and they mentioned there was again no coverage. The failure mileage was 82,000. Tf.

My car makes this rattling sound when I first start the car. I brought it into my Honda dealership to have it looked and they said it is a known issue related to other Honda Accords but Honda won't cover the cost to have it repaired. They gave me an estimate of $480 to have fixed. I've searched online and found that many Honda Accord owners have also faced this issue with the rattling sound. If it is a known defect and saftey issue, why hasn't Honda issued a recall to fix it?.

So just like all the other complaints, my car won't start every time I hit the starter button. After I press it it makes a really loud whining sound, I am currently on my 3rd replacement starter, and 2nd alternator. I think it's crazy, after all these complains everywhere that nothing has been done. I gave Honda the benefit of the doubt, because of their history of reliability, but this is too much. I need a new starter too actually so starter #4 here I come. This is a serious issue.

I have had to replace the vtc actuator twice in the last 5 yrs and now need to replace it again. At cold start the car makes a rattling noise. Honda has a bulletin but say nothing about helping owners replace them since it is a known issue. Please help!!!.

Two issues I am having that tons of people online have complained about. One issue is the variable timing solenoid. At startup the vehicle makes a loud rattling noise for about 5 seconds. The other issue is the exterior weather strip is allowing water to leak into my car.

The variable timing control actuator makes a loud rattling noise when the car is started in the morning for the first time. That is the only time it rattles; the first start of the day. The mechanic says if the actuator fails the car will stop wherever it is. If I'm in traffic it could cause an accident; I live in the greater los angeles area where traffic is usually heavy which compounds the problem. Apparently Honda is repairing the vtc actuator on some Honda Accords, but my VIN is not on the fix list, so Honda recognizes it is an engineering problem, and it is wide spread enough that they are repairing some Honda Accords with the right VIN. The internet is filled with Honda Accord owner complaints so I know the problem is high in numbers. The office of attorney general, state of California referred me to your agency and encouraged me to file a complaint. I think this is a serious problem due to an engineering misstep in planning and production. Further I think it poses a safety issue for Honda Accord owners and the general public if the engine malfunctions as the auto technicians say it will. I think Honda recognizes the problem, but are addressing it in a piece-meal fashion rather than issuing a recall. I hope you can give me and other Honda Accord owners some relief. Thank you.

Honda Accord 2009 - currently 62k miles. Engine rattles on start up and also on acceleration. Contacted Honda dealership about the sporadic flashing oil light and rattling noise. Dealership confirmed no leaking oil, but there was oil consumption. Now involved with a oil consumption test. Dealership couldn't replicate the rattling noise. We never received the notice from Honda on the service bulletin about oil consumption. Currently 1k miles into the consumption test and we are halfway to the lower mark on the dipstick. Updated the dealership of the status and was told not to bring it back until it was at the lower mark on the dipstick. Car continues to have the rattling noise, which now the dealership is advising us that is a separate issue. Currently still covered under the extended warranty for this issue, but a test has to be completed before the issue is resolved. Extended warranty should have taken affect without any testing, since this is a known issue and needs to be dealt with immediately instead of waiting around until someone gets injured or more damage is done to the car. This needs to be fixed for every car that was listed in that bulletin.

There has been numerous complaints in regards to the starter having a "grinding", "static-like", or "whining" sound and it has seemingly affected my car as well. For example, when I am preparing to leave for my destination, do a basic press of the starter button, and I will hear that grinding and whining sound. . . On occasion, it will take a number of tries to get the car started. This has been happening on the regular. There is a Honda technical bulletin (dated February 5, 2016) number 16-002 in regards to the starter and also a pending class action lawsuit (merkin v. Honda north american inc. , american Honda motor CO. , Honda motor company ltd. ) I cannot pinpoint an exact date on when this started (I gave you my best answer), but it has been going on for several months and I fear if it continues, it could hurt my car in the long run or I could possibly be stranded if I go on a long journey somewhere.

Variable valve timing actuator went out and had to be replaced. This was recalled on earlier models. I've seen lots of forums where people with 2010's and 2011's still having this problem. We learned about the problem by researching what the rattling sound could be when we start the car from these forums. The oil light started coming on and the car was losing oil. It started rattling even while driving it or idling at a light. The auto mechanic verified it and we had to pay $900 to have it fixed. If this problem wasn't resolved as Honda says it was then we shouldn't be out the cost to fix it.

Engine makes rattling sound that lasts 1-2 seconds when starting engine after overnight idling. Sound of metal-metal rubbing each other. Sound goes away after a few seconds. I just bought a 2011 Accord with 2. 4l engine and I notice in the mornings on cold start, my engine makes loud rattle noise for few sec. I did research and lots of people having the same engines. It turn out to be engine timing vtc actuator defected. Honda issued service bulletin for this but refusing to replace this part. This issue should be recall. It cost between 700-900 dollars to replace it. Im about to pay this out of my pocket for something that should be recalled from Honda. Please do something about this issue. 2008 Accord ex-l (4 cyl) started making a rattling sound on cold-starts at approximately 80k miles. Originally thought to be from low oil (seeing how this vehicle burns oil like it is its job), I always kept an extra quart on hand. After closely monitoring the rattle and having several mechanics look at it (including Honda), no one could identify it until I had a mechanic at work look at it. I work for a fleet lessor. He identified it as the vtc actuator. I immediately called a buddy who is a parts manager for Honda and he confirmed this was a known issue. A simple google search blew my mind! this has been a known issue for years and apparently has catastrophic failure results on engines! makes me feel really safe knowing that my Accord has so many safety issues! premature brake/rotor wear, srs module failure (controls the air bag system), high oil consumption, inadequate battery cranking amps, transmission software recalls, etc. When this car dies, its gone and never to be replaced with another Honda. Honda refused to warranty my car for the recent oil consumption recall because I am beyond their 125k mileage threshold even though they have me on record of the issue going back to 60-80k miles! not a happy Honda owner.
