4 Horn Assembly problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

On February 10, 2017 the car horn sounded for approximately 10 minutes, and this repeated twice before 2 am. The car was in the driveway, and no one was near it. The key was on the table. The action was spontaneous. It stopped only when I unlocked the car door. When I started the car later in the morning at least four safety warnings appeared including "brakes" on the instrument panel. This behavior was confirmed by the dealer darcars Honda in bowie maryland, where it was attributed to a fuse box which must be replaced. I am afraid to drive the car, even if it can be repaired, because of the car's safety warning.

My 2013 Honda Accord ex-l has been having intermittent starting problems (push button start). This starting happening approximately three weeks ago. Radio, dash lights, horn etc. This also is not a key fob battery issue because the key fob still locks and unlocks the door. Car was taken to the Honda dealership to have problem diagnosed and repaired. 8 Horn Assembly problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/02/2015

I got off work and the horn was honking. It had been honking so long the battery was dead. And then when someone jump started it and I started to drive off, it honked some more. A few minutes later entering the freeway it started honking once again! each time the honking stopped when I turned the wheel. 3 times in one morning it honked and would not stop until I turned the wheel. Since I have had this vehicle the honking comes and goes about every 6 months. But this latest incident has been the worst by far. I took it to the dealer and the fella behind also had the same problem. . He called it random honking.

10 Horn Assembly problem of the 2001 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/28/2013

Horn functions intermittently. While driving straight ahead (normal highway driving), horn does not work. Isolated the malfunction and found that the steering shaft is only intermittently grounded, and the horn requires that ground in order to function. The horn (and the steering shaft ground) operates perfectly when the key is removed from the ignition switch. It appears that something in the ignition switch is causing the loss of ground. The failure has not been repaired as of yet.

11 Horn Assembly problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/20/2013

The sporadic failure of the radio to operate, come on is some instances, or to display presets and the cd player not operating all at the same time is extremely frustrating! the driver seat memory system not reverting when re-entering vehicle and starting, all point to a possible electrical problem that Honda would do good to look into -- there are youtube videos of other owners who have experienced radio malfunctions as well. The previous model Accord I owned, 2011, had no such problem. With regards to another owner complaint on the engine's momentary hesitations upon acceleration, was also experienced. Also, complained by other owner, was the driver side rear view mirror: the 1/4 end will cause you to immediately adjust to right in anticipation of car coming into you. This potential correction accident can be avoided by another left side blind spot device or mirror replacement altogether: I am trying not to pay too much attention to that 1/4 end part of mirror. The horn is annoyingly different from previous year and not as loud.

12 Horn Assembly problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/09/2011

15 Horn Assembly problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/24/2010

I have a 1999 Honda Accord lx and while passing a transport the engine suddenly died at 140km/hr. I put the car in neutral but it didn't start,so as we slowed down another transport which was coming up behind us to pass the slower transport as well then started honking the horn and we could nothing but wait till the transport we were attempting to pass got further ahead of us so we could pull over to shoulder and allow the transport behind us to get by. It was a very dangerous scary situation. The car did restart after several attempts. We had just had the ignition changed under the recall about two weeks prior to this. We have recently removed any unnecessary keys and used only the Honda key and it has not quit since.

19 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/16/2009

Roughly a month ago from today ie December 2008; the horn on my car sounded different but then was fine, time had passed and it got worse and crackled. I took the car into the local dealer for repair this morning and had asked if this could be considered under warranty eventhough I am 3,000 miles over the std warranty with the 5% extension from Honda, the car is 3 days shy of 3 years old, they said no. The problem was the right horn broke, the left worked fine. It was about $120 for diag, parts, and labor which I had to do but am asking Honda to consider this to be covered since a 3 year old car should not have something basic break so soon, clearly it was a defective part. This is a safety concern especially with a 4 month baby I transport daily in this car.

20 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/10/2008

Horn works only on rare occasions, primarily when wheel is turned sharply to either direction. Dealer has stated that this is a known problem, but it will take several hundred dollars to fix, which includes replacing part of the driver air bag assembly. Over time, the problem has worsened, and dealer says it likely the horn will eventually fail completely. Due to financial difficulties, I do not have the money to fix, thus I no longer have a working horn. I am concerned that the air bag may also fail in an accident. I notice that there have been at least 5 other complaints about this problem, yet no investigation or recall has been initiated. This is a serious and known safety defect which needs to be addressed. Many owners of these cars may have non-working horns and not even realize it until it is too late.

21 Horn Assembly problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/26/2008

In approximately August 2008, the horn on my 2007 Honda Accord stopped working. It had been working fine before, but would not work when I tried to warn another driver who was veering into my lane. I took it to the dealership and confirmed with the customer service rep that it wasn't working. Then, when I picked it up that evening, he said that it had started working and he couldn't replicate the problem. He said intermittent problems are hard to diagnose and to come back when it stops working again. Since then the problem has been on and off and in heavy traffic I have narrowly avoided 3 accidents without being able to use my horn.

22 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/30/2007

The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the horn was inoperable. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The VIN was unavailable.

23 Horn Assembly problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

When it gets cold (below 45) the horn on my 2007 Honda Accord will not sound. It has been into the Honda service shop they say nothing is wrong with it.

24 Horn Assembly problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/06/2007

I am an otr cdl-licensed driver, and, on more than a few occasions over the past 6 months, I have observed several models of Nissan and Honda vehicles cruising at dusk with their dash lights on, but with no exterior marker, parking, tail, or headlights burning. They are virtually invisible, especially when mixed in with other normally-illuminated vehicles. When alerted as they pass by horn and flashing lights, the driver's usual reaction is to slam on the brakes, and then turn on the headlights. If the headlight switch is configured to actuate the dash lights separately from the exterior lights, that is a definite safety problem. The problem also may be with the allowable threshold sensitivity of the twilight sensor.

25 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/19/2007

1998 Honda Accord ex 4-door: horn functions intermittently. While driving straight ahead (normal highway driving), horn usually does not work. Isolated the malfunction and found that the steering shaft is only intermittently grounded, and the horn requires that ground in order to function. The horn (and the steering shaft ground) operates perfectly when the key is removed from the ignition switch. It appears that something in the ignition switch is causing the loss of ground. This year and model vehicle has already had two different recalls for different problems with the ignition switch. I know of at least 2 other people with identical symptoms, and one of them has already had an accident that would have been avoided with a working horn. As far as I know, this vehicle has never been in an accident. The failure has not been repaired as of yet.

26 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord ex. While driving, the alarm and the horn automatically activated for an extended period of time. As a result, other drivers send rude signals to her and she feels that this is very dangerous. The contact notified the Honda dealer in her area and a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer was unable to find the cause of failure. She also notified Honda's regional office who stated that her vehicle is out of warranty and nothing can be done. Honda advised her to go to the passenger side of the vehicle and use the key in order to stop the failure. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 25,564 and failure mileage was 22,000.

27 Horn Assembly problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/23/2006

: the contact stated the horn worked intermittently and was hard to press in certain spots. The dealership re-fitted the horn wires and determined the horn was operating to factory specifications. The repairs did not repair the problem. The accelerator would always stick in the morning. The door locks worked intermittently. The right front window would squeak when going up. The valve cover gasket was replaced. Updated 05/16/06.

28 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/01/2005

Car did fine for a while then it went crazy on us. Accelerator petal sticks, brake lights don't work, horn does not work, cruise control does not work, door locks wouldn't work, front left blinker works only sometimes!.

29 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/20/2005

I have owned this car for two years and have had two axles replaced, as well as rotors and breaks replaced twice. The brakes wear, the rotors had to be replaced, the horn does not function properly when pushed. Recently I went to get an inspection sticker and failed because of the emissions part. My check engine light does not work because a bulb is malfunctioning which means there is no sensor, my three way catalytic converter needs to be replaced and there is supposedly a problem with my fuel tank evaporative emission valve. Recently my car has shut off while I was in drive and continued to roll. It has also turned off while I was driving up a hill and would not start for ten minutes. I have invested almost 1500 dollars in repairs for this car and I would like Honda to repair and hopefully reimburse me for past repairs.

30 Horn Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/08/2005

They need to remove the air bag to fix the horn, and this will cost $2500 at consumer's expense. The consumer requested that the manufacturer pay for the repair since it appeared to be a manufacturing defect.

33 Horn Assembly problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/10/2004

I have reservations about writing to you, but I don't want any other families to loose a loved one . I am not even sure if this is a valid complaint, but here it goes. My mother owned a Honda Accord, I am not sure what year but she bought it used just recently and it was fairly new, my brother has possession at this time awaiting the bank decision on her estate. During the early morning hours of April 10, 2004, sometime between 2 and 4 am, my mothers car alarm went off, the neighbors will testify to this. (I was told it was a feature to let the owner know the battery was low, except my brother had just charged my mothers battery that week sometime. ) during that time they say it went off and stopped twice. The second time they thought maybe there was a problem with my mother possibly calling for help. She lived alone and was 66 years old. The first time they heard the alarm they thought maybe she had went to the car for something and accidently set the alarm off. She had previously had a cardio -conversion 3 weeks prior, where the doctors actually shock the heart to get a normal rhythm, my mothers heart was beating too fast for awhile. The procedure was said to have took and was too prolong her life 10 to 15 more years. The coroner's report states she died of a heart attack. She was found in the dinning room floor with her feet pointing toward the garage, she was on her way to check on the car. My sister-in-law, a registered nurse stated that the horn may have scared my mother causing her blood pressure to elevate and caused a heart attack. Should'nt there be some sort of warning to heart patients considering buying this type of vehicle? I don't know what else to say except please let the Honda people know this is a hazzard. If this isn't making any sense to you I apologize, I haven't made sense of anything since I got the call about my mom. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, patsy taylor.
