The car intermittantly will not start and can leave me stranded. It appears to be a faulting ignition switch as the starter works fine so long as the electrical system turns it on. This appears to be a common problem with this vehicle that was recalled on the previous 2013 model and apparently not fixed with the 2014 model.

Car has 85,000 on 2014. Recent issues include defective starter and rear brake caliper. Also rear tires spin if road is damp even with anti serve engaged and good tires. Previous issues include battery component recall and axel recall. Did I buy a lemon?.
Vehicle does not start 100% of the time. The safety issue is that being stranded, when it doesn't start , with small children in a rural area is dangerous. The dealer as well as Honda has no solution for the problem. Repairs suggested have all been made and the problem still exists. I know nothing will be done because of this letter, but whomever is reading this I would suggest that you not purchase a Honda product if you care for your family. Wm. Jones.

My 2015 Honda Accord has been giving me problems for more than three years already so every time I turn it on there is a beep three times as soon as I turn on the ignition key then now in often the car does not turn on, so I have to wait like 30 minutes so the car will start again, also about three times all the lights on the windchill had turn off including the radio in the phone chargers everything was pure black and it was in the middle of the night so I couldn’t see nothing on my way home that’s when I had to stop on the right shoulder on the freeway 14 because I couldn’t see to drive with no lights so I turn off the car and wait for a couple of minutes then the car turn on and the lights went back on and actually today I had to call the towing truck to pick me up to take it to the mechanic because it was not turning on not even after 30 minutes but after two hours the car turn on this happened when I was on the gas station putting gasand when I try to turn it on after putting gas that’s when the car didn’t wanna start I was in arcadia city California and we were almost 90° and it was really hot with no shade and I was all by myself no where to go I am very tired of this and I am scared if this happened when I am in the intersection when there’s a lot of traffic, it seems that this problem is been happening very often now it’s been getting worse and worse,.
Basically, my complaint is that I don't feel that my starter should have to be replaced at 36,000 miles. . . I have only had the car for 9 months. . I also had to replace the front pads and rotors too. . Basically totalling $640. In parts and 360. In labor. . I bought it directly from the dealership. . It has the push button start and it put out a grinding sound when I went to start it, then the front bakes started squeaking also. .
Ignition key turned and only heard a click. Had to turn off and on many times for it to eventually start engine, if lucky. Did not even hear the engine crank. Best guess is starter failure.
Got my starter replaced since it was turning off on me but that did not fix the issue. Reading a lot of similar situations. My car has turned off on me once on the freeway and I almost got hit the good thing is I was on the far left lane and turned the wheel on time, but my car was still sticking out a bit I almost got hit multiple times. Turned off on me twice on the street luckily I was in traffic, still a scary and risky situation. Also tried replacing the alternator did not work.
My 2015 Accord v6 has a starting problem where the starter will grind several times before the car will start. This happens about every 3 to 5 weeks. The car will eventually start after several attempts. Although this problem does not occur every time, I am concerned I will be stranded.
Engine will not start. 2015 Honda Accord has about 84k miles. I have been stranded twice now because my car won't start and often requires between 2-4 attempts to start the engine. The cluster lights turn on and everything powered by the battery is working, without the engine starting. I have replaced the battery 3 times (March 2018, January 2020, March 2021). Previous battery was tested and had plenty of voltage left and was charging well, so the alternator is working well. Key fob battery replaced 2 times, most recently December 2020 and is working fine. I believe the starter is defective and I have read countless reports online stating the same issue, and this needs to be investigated and addressed, especially because the part itself is between $150-180 online and the dealership cost to replace this is $1k and above. . .
2013 Honda Accord v6exl starter makes grinding noise when being started. Sometimes takes multiple trys to finally turn over and start engine. Brought to dealership but they said they could not replicate the issue. Only offered to replace entire starter system for $900.
Starter malfunctioned while parked on the street. This is a widely reported issue with hundreds of reports online and no recall. Cost to replace at dealer is over $700. Car died on the street.
If the vehicle is not started and driven at least every second day. A no start condition results. Battery is new, the second one from Honda dealer. Crank/starter speed very lethargic, all conditions, remote start included. Purchased an after market start booster to resolve dead battery issue. Vehicle no longer under warranty.

The engine push start button has stopped working. The battery is new, the starter is good. Numerous attempts have to be made to start the vehicle. Numerous complaints have been filed with Honda and the company refuses to help.
I have a 2015 Honda Accord with 51k miles. I had to replace the battery at 40k miles. I recently had the same intermitten starting problem that many of you described. Sometimes I have to turn the ignition key 20 times for the car to start. I brought the car to the Honda dealer. They probably saw 100 of similar cases. However, they acted as if my starting problem is a rare case, and charged me $900 to replace the starter. I am disappointed with both Honda and the dealer.
The failing starter is a well known issue among the Honda Accord community. The starter begins to fail prematurely and eventually will fail to start the car leaving the driver and or their passengers stranded. This can happen at anytime/anywhere the vehicle needs to be started. There is a current TSB to replace the starter and turn the flex plate one bolt hole over. Many times this happens after any warranty has expired leaving the owner to pay out of pocket a large amount of money.
At about 48,000 miles I started having intermittent no start situations which rendered the car unreliable. If you turn the key nothing happens. But usually after several attempts the car would start and then the problem would not repeat for several subsequent starts. Then it would reappear. I found a mechanic who located the problem requiring a starter replacement. Honda should recall these vehicles.
My Honda Accord 2015 has been driven for 48000 miles. I am having problems with the starter. The car doesn't start at times and has become unreliable to drive. This appears to be a problem with many similar model Honda. Request Honda to take action and resolve this issue for all Honda Accord owners and continue to keep their brand promise of reliability and quality. My car continues to have this problem and will take it to the dealership.
Intermittent starting issues - have replaced battery 3 times. Took to Honda dealer on 9/8/17 & 12/29/20. Honda stated no issues. Had alternator and starter tested several times at parts store and they tested fine. Issues have increased to leaving me stranded 3 times in 2 weeks. New battery 12/29/20 is not dead and tests fine but car needs jump to start. Car does have remote start and will not start with key or fob.
My 15 Accord exl v4 is about 5 years ago and 68k. Start having issue to start the car. Push the button and break, car doesn't start. Took my car for a check, I was been told I need to replace the starter. I searched online and lots of 9th gen owners are having same issue. Unacceptable for such age car with starter issue.
For more than a year, my car has been having issues starting up. It rarely starts on the first attempt. It usually starts on the second attempt. There are times when it takes multiple attempts to start. I have planned on having the starter replaced when I have the timing belt replaced in a few months. However, today I discovered this site and realized many others have the same issue. Have there been resolutions for anyone? if so, what was the resolution?.
Day 1: car had 2 instances of no start accompanied by strange whirring noise under the hood. The first time took 5 tries to successful start, the second time took 2 tries to successful start. All dash lights/radio had power. Day 2: car started up first try no problems, but later in the day when trying to use vehicle again, I encountered the same issue as day 1, but this time without successful start upon exhausted number of tries. Battery voltage tested and monitored while trying to start indicated it wasn't a battery issue. Vehicle towed to purchasing dealership. . . . Told I need a new starter. . . 500$+ bill. Expect it to be out of shop tomorrow. Bms recalled and replaced in 2017 by previous owner, my VIN not included in starter recall. Bought with 76,000 miles on July 11th 2020, starter went out exactly 4 months later November 11th 2020 with 81,000 miles. 2014 Accord lx huge bummer. . I'm a die hard Honda fan and recommender but this has caused lots of inconveniences. I hope Honda makes this right.
Car would not start completely one night leaving me stranded. Now intermittent starting issues at less than 33k miles. Very common issue with starter and Honda has issued a service bulletin but no recall.
My starter clicks once when I try to turn the car on, but the car won't turn on. It's an intermittent thing, but has started happening more and more often. I've been stranded now two times because of it.
After working a late shift at her job, my wife went to drive home only to have the car fail to start. At 11pm, she was left stranded in an empty parking lot until I could reach her (45 minutes from our home). The car's starter had failed. A google search shows that this is a common and well-documented flaw with the 2013 Accord. Called the local dealer and they insist that they have no reports of known starter issues. Repair cost is over $300 ($200 for part plus labor costs). Reached out to Honda corporate, no response.
At only 38,xxx miles this vehicle has intermittent starting issues. Internet research and mechanic diagnosis indicates that the starter needs to be replaced. It is a known issue at the local dealership, but yet they could not give me a concrete answer as to if replacing the starter will fix the problem long term. With a quoted replacement cost of $1,000 I am leery to have the starter replaced if it does not actually fix the problem. I have been stranded multiple times in the cold because of this issues. A vehicle with only 38,xxx miles and barely out of warranty should not be having these issue. I am okay with fixing a faulty part, but I am not okay with a reoccurring issues not having an exact solution to the problem. Are the starters in these vehicles truly bad or is it something else within the car that is causing the starter to blow? a recall or research outside of Honda (because obviously they are ignoring the issues) needs to be rolled out to get to the bottom of, and fix, these starting problems. Starters should not fail prior to 50,000 miles. If they are constantly failing at low mileage, there needs to be a recall done with the option of replacing the original starters with non-faulty parts. If the starters are solid parts as-is, research needs to be done to determine why the starters are failing. At $1,000 per repair, Honda is making too much money fixing known safety issues with their vehicles.
Our 2015 Honda Accord has developed a starting problem the vehicle has a push button start and more so than not it takes repeated pushes of the start button for the car to crank over. This condition started roughly one month ago and is very concerning to me since it is my wife's car and I don't want her to be stranded because the car doesn't start. When you press the brake and the start button all you hear is a loud click coming from the starter but it doesn't crank over. I have researched the problem and found numerous similar problems with 2013 - 2015 Honda Accords. This is a safety hazard and Honda is being very irresponsible for not stepping up to the plate and admitting it is a very serious problem. Most if not all of the other complaints I've read say it is a starter issue and even the Honda dealerships are saying it is a very common problem!!!.
Starter button fails to start engine,50% of the time, even with brake fully depressed.
2015 Honda Accord sport won't start intermittently. I was getting in my car to go to work, when I turned the key and it clicks on the first try, then will start on the second try. Today, I had to try three times before it would start. I got the battery and starter tested and they were both good.
The vehicle tends to not start. Turning the ignition only causes a clicking sound, however the car will not turn over (start). I purchased a new starter but the vehicle still does not start, I read online that chances are it will not fix the problem. I found many people online with the same issue that I'm having.
2-3 months ago, at approx 72,000 miles, the starter would not work on occasion. Independent diagnostic suggested issue with alternator (replaced) and battery (replaced). Issue continued. Now we have not been able to start the car for days. A test of the starter shows nothing wrong. Then fcw system failed while trying to start the car, cleared and failed again. Pushing starter button results in all lights and power coming on, but no start of the car. When power is off and door open, there is a warning signal similar to when lights are left on, but lights are off. Seems the starter problem is common, but the recommended fixes are not working. Repeatedly replacing parts does not resolve the issue. I was 150 miles from home before the last start. When the car started after several attempts, I immediately drove home. I can't risk being stranded.
After my 100,000 maintenance in September 2020, my Honda Accord began having problems starting. Since then, I have replaced the battery, the alternator and starter. When I start the car for the first time of the day, it starts. After parking the car after I have gone some place, the car will not start. Then, I have to keep pressing the electrical start button until the car starts. So far, at times, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to re-start the car. I reported the situation to Honda USA on 02/01/2021 and they said there are no recalls on this vehicle so they cannot help me. However, Honda USA did start a case for me. My wife and I do not want to get stranded after driving some place. After reviewing the internet, the electrical starting system is a major issue for the 2013 Honda Accord. Honda USA says you cannot believe everything on the internet. See carcomplaints. Com. Something needs to be done because it is a safety issue.
