Honda Accord owners have reported 2,035 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda Accord based on all problems reported for the Accord.
?1. What component or system failed? ?the abs/vsa modulator control unit (also known as the abs pump or module). This system is responsible for anti-lock braking and vehicle stability assist. ?2. How was safety put at risk? ?the failure often results in the complete loss of anti-lock braking (abs) and stability control (vsa). ?increased stopping distance: in emergency braking situations, the wheels can lock up, leading to skidding and significantly longer distances to stop. ?loss of steering control: without vsa, the vehicle is prone to "plowing" (understeer) or spinning out (oversteer) during evasive maneuvers or on slippery surfaces (rain, snow, gravel). ?brake pedal issues: some owners report a "hard" or "unresponsive" brake pedal during the moment of failure, which causes a delay in braking response. This is a widely confirmed issue for 9th gen Accords. ?dealer diagnosis: most owners have this confirmed by a dealer through diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs). Common codes include 121-11 (vsa solenoid malfunction) or 81-20 (acceleration sensor malfunction). ?service centers: independent shops frequently see this issue and often recommend third-party rebuild services (like module master or upfix) because the oem replacement part from Honda is expensive ($1,500–$2,500) and frequently on backorder. ?4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected? ?manufacturer: while Honda has not issued a widespread safety recall for the 9th gen module specifically (unlike the 2023 "brake hold" recall), many individual units have been inspected by dealer technicians. ? 5. Were there warning symptoms? ?the symptoms usually appear suddenly and without prior warning, often referred to as a "christmas tree" dash. ?warning lamps: the abs, vsa (triangle with exclamation), traction control, and sometimes the electric power steering (eps) and tpms lights all illuminate simultaneously.

Describe the safety issue: my 2023 Honda Accord (VIN: 1hgcy1f28pa010141) stalled in traffic due to electrical system failure. A certified Honda technician found undisclosed non-factory wiring, exposed wires, removed aftermarket alarm components, bcm communication failure, and multiple hard codes that cannot be cleared. The vehicle has serious electrical defects that affect engine communication and safety systems. These conditions create a risk of stalling, electrical fire, loss of power, and loss of control while driving. The defects were present at the time of purchase but were not disclosed. When did the issue begin? stalled in traffic and warning lights appeared immediately after purchase. Is the problem reproducible? yes. Hard codes and electrical malfunctions reappear after clearing. Has the vehicle been inspected? yes. Inspected at team gillman Honda north. Technician documented unsafe wiring, bcm issues, and recommended teardown with an estimated repair cost of $2,686. 86. Has the manufacturer been contacted? yes, through Honda dealership service. They confirmed the defects are not normal wear and are related to altered wiring. Has the dealer been contacted? yes. The selling dealer refused assistance and told me not to contact them further.

I noticed random misfires months ago. I've replace my spark plug three times in 6 months. My coils are good, etc. It started getting worse about a month ago. It goes into limp mode and suddenly slows to 20 mph. Some days it won't start. The dash lights flash and the cars computer goes crazy it won't go over 20 mph. This is a widespread issue causing ppl to spend thousands and no fix in sight. Usually it hits between 15-90k miles. Twice I was on the interstate and it just slowed to 20 mph. I have had it at the dealer twice. They are clueless and can't do much without Honda stepping up. Honda needs to address this. My car was built in 2021 and somehow missed a major recall. It's putting stress on my catalytic converter and other parts that cost thousands to fix. I'm taking it in on Monday for the third time. If they can pinpoint it this time I'm afraid it might cost me thousands. It's a Honda and it shouldn't be having issues from 15k to 90k.

While driving, the power steering warning came on and the steering wheel became extremely tight, making it very difficult to turn. This has happened more than once, most recently on December 8, 2025. The loss of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was in motion and created a serious safety concern. The dealership retrieved diagnostic code c1250-52, which indicates an internal malfunction of the electric brake booster ecu. The steering issue and warning occurred again after the initial diagnosis. The system appears to fail intermittently and without warning. I have owned multiple Honda Accord vehicles over the years and have never experienced anything like this. Sudden loss of steering assist while driving is a safety defect, and similar issues have been reported by other owners of 2018–2022 Honda Accord models.

The fuel system on my 2022 Honda Accord malfunctioned and caused a sudden loss of power while my teenage son was driving. On 12/03/2025 at approximately 4:50 pm, the vehicle went into reduced-power (limp) mode while traveling in heavy highway traffic on a busy highway in a metro-area of >450,000 people. There was no shoulder available in which he could navigate onto. He was unable to accelerate and had to coast approximately one mile at low speed while many, many cars were driving around him during rush hour traffic , which created a dangerous situation with vehicles traveling at normal highway speeds. A Honda dealership has previously inspected and confirmed the problem. On 07/28/2025, the service center documented lean fuel condition, misfire codes (p0301, p0304), failed fuel-rail pressure, and injector-related faults. They recommended replacement of fuel-system components. The printed report and repair estimate are available for inspection upon request. Prior to the safety incident, the vehicle intermittently displayed symptoms such as hesitation during acceleration and irregular engine operation, but no permanent warning light stayed on. The failure has progressed over time and the same loss-of-power condition can recur at any time. This poses a risk because loss of propulsion in moving traffic can lead to a collision. The component issue has been confirmed by the Honda dealer, and documentation is attached. I am filing this report because the failure creates a safety hazard, has been reproduced by a local dealership, and has not been resolved. The repair show suggested I return to Honda for repair. Furthermore, during my research of this problem, I discovered tens of thousands of complaints from others experiencing this exact issue, including new low mileage vehicles. These complaints are available on all social media platforms and search engines, with each complaint indicating problems with the fuel injectors on engines using direct fuel injection.
The car will have all lights on dashboard showing, car has been taken multiple times to dealership and nothing seems to be wrong but this cause all safety features to malfunction. I have talked with other Honda owners, on forums and acquaintances and they have similar issues.
Static coming through the speakers at loud volume unable to turn off even when radio is off.

Speakers produce full volume static, this loud static sound is unavoidable, it occurs randomly when the car is on and when the audio is on, but once it starts making static sounds, it won't stop. Source input also does not matter. Some observations I have made are that: •it is extremely cold in new jersey and after the heater is on high for a while and when the car is warmed up it starts to make these unavoidable static sounds. •when the audio is turned off sometimes the static goes away but sometimes it stays even when the audio is turned off. •once it starts making static sounds, even turning off the car and turning it back on with the audio off doesn't make the static sounds go away. Only when the car is off for a while and it gets cold again, it stops the static sounds. It is extremely cold in new jersey around this time of the year, and it is impossible to drive without the heater. Once the loud static sounds start, it won't stop and it creates distractions while driving, almost causing me to get into an accident. Lots of people with the same car are having this issue and lots of reddit users are also reporting this issue and most of the people with this issue seem to have some mention of heat causing it or it occurs on hot days. Dealership is not helping either and they can't figure out the cause of the problem. They are suggesting changing the car audio (head unit) at customer's expense. A lot of people on reddit reporting the issue mentioned submitting a complaint to the NHTSA, I see there are already some complaints regarding the loud static sounds on here. Dealership is no help, and Honda doesn’t seem to have any recalls for this either. Need more complaints and a recall for this!.

Started the car and the system was not booting up properly. Had to restart the car a few times for the system to boot up properly. Took 3 min to start up after restarting the car. No error codes just major lag and delay. Car was updated to the most current update and no new updates were available at the moment. Bluetooth also has a hard time connecting to mobile devices. Engine makes weird sound when accelerating on the highway in eco mode. Sometimes feels like misfires when accelerating. When entering the car from outside the seat sometimes does not adjust back to the original position stays at the extended position it does when getting out of the car. Requires me to adjust my seat consistently.
The stereo amplifier emits a god awful, deafening static noise soon after start my car, so I can't listen to the radio, hear or talk to anyone. This has been going on for months and hasn't let up. It's very expensive for the Honda dealer to fix, that I cannot afford right now, because they have to install a near stereo unit. Right now, I drive around with ear plugs and this should be considered a safety issue because I can't hear while the ear piercing static noise is on at the highest volume (there's no way to turn it down. . . Even with the stereo off). I've owned lots of older model cars and none have ever had this issue with the stereo amplifier, so I feel this is a manufacturing defect for it to fail after 10 years. I've researched this issue online and I'm not the only one complaining about this for the 2016 Honda Accord.
The car speakers and microphones unexpectedly emit deafening loud static sounds that continues while driving. Powering audio system off makes no difference. The static is at least 90 decibels. It's frightening and impedes safe driving. Cale yarborough's Honda dealership is witness to the defect and determine that the "head unit" must be replaced. The head unit integrates the audio, bluetooth, gps and backup & blind spot camera functions. The dealership has ordered a replacement head unit but it is on backorder indefinitely! there have been many other reports of this problem with this equipment. Please help me get my car safe again. American Honda has been aware of the problem but ineffective in its response.
Power steering tpm s and traction control lights are coming on after putting in a new battery. This is a recall for 2013 to 2017 Honda Accord sport with cvt transmission and for some reason, my car is not part of the batch, even though it is experiencing this issue. I am assuming the issue is the battery management.
Car has lost power or gone into "limp mode" while driving on multiple occasions. Car was never listed under the fuel pump recall but had all associated symptoms & problems. Had to have fuel pumps replaced in December 2023 due to car not starting because of faulty fuel pumps. Car has been properly maintenced since purchased brand new in February 2018. Currently around 121,000 miles. Car overheated this past summer, coolant seems to be leaking somewhere as just filled with coolant month ago and needed to refill with about quarter to refill to correct amount. Oil also seems to be having slow leakage problem somewhere within the engine as there is excessive oil on drip pan. Had all 4 spark plugs changed in March of 2025. Car has been going into limp mode and looses power for few seconds to minutes sometimes, almost causing multiple accidents while driving on highways. Pull over to shut off and give few minutes to restart and able to resume driving no warnings before this occurs. Randomly all dashboard lights light up 2 weeks ago and put car into limp mode, was driving on highway at high rate of speed (65mph) safety was compromised several times while this occurs. Engine seems create knocking sounds to known due to oil dilution problem. Cold weather seems to affect issues to onset more often. Also been having stalled or rough start ups in colder weather or when engine is not warmed up. Researching these issues seems to be that 2018 Honda Accords had known head gasket failure. This should become a class action lawsuit and also a recall.
Out of no where - the speakers start blaring this loud scrambled sound. (like a dead channel on tv. ) even when the radio is off. The speakers roar so load you can not concentrate to drive. No warning, just happens. I can go days/weeks without it happening, then boom - scare me so bad when it comes on out of no where. There is no rhyme or reason to when it will happen - could be driving slow or fast, could be hot or cold outside. Could be soon as you start the car or in the middle of driving after an hour. Thought it was a fluke but here were are - 2 months later and it's happened at least 5 times.
The steering sticks and over turns making the car go all over the place. When parked, the steering makes alot of noises when you turn the steering wheel.

Driving and without warning steering light came on, display flickered, engine surged, and complete loss of steering in a matter seconds. I was barely able to turn car onto a driveway where the engine shutdown. I restarted engine and noticed considerable knocking, put car in gear and engine shut-off. I had car towed to a garage and am waiting for info. I should note that the previous month there has been some parasitic draw that requires me to jump start the car every few days even with a new battery.

My vehicle is losing power while traveling on the road. All of the system lights are flashing and the gas mileage is ridiculous. It sputters uncontrollably and just stalls out and drops speed really quick. I’m really concerned for my well being. I’ve spent so much money trying to fix these issues and I don’t think it’s fair to me or any other Honda owner to have to be held responsible for something that is clearly a manufacturing issue. Although there was not a crash during this incident, it’s very dangerous and I’m terrified to drive my car but I have no other transportation right now.
See attached document for complaint.
While pulling into a parking spot my car unexpectedly accelerated. Brakes were unresponsive even after placing both feet on the brake pedal. Vehicle stopped only after I hit a tree. Engine continued to rev at which point I placed the vehicle in park and shut off the engine. Although the impact of the crash was severe my 1airbag did not deploy.
Car has recently started to actuate the door locks while accelerating from a slowing or braking position. There was some clicking or chattering under the steering wheel that may be a symptom before this started happening. It sounds a lot like the recall for other Accords on the control module. Either way, the car should not be actuating the locks when accelerating from a slowing or braking situation. This is not normal and could be life threatening if in an accident.

Car will drive fine , then all of a sudden it shuts completely off on the highway which is a major safety concern. All the lights will pop on in the dash board without any warning. Car will act as if it doesn’t want to pick up speed then after about 10-15 mins starts driving fine . This is my second time contacting you all regarding the same issues . Honda needs to definitely do a recall ASAP this is not safe at all to be driving around like this . Alot of customers driving 2018-2022 Honda Accords have been having the same exact issues . .

On our 2016 Accord with the 3. 5 v6 there is a design issue with the starter assembly. This issue is also happening with other models with this engine configuration manufactured between 2013 through 2017. The starter on my vehicle won’t engage the flywheel gears fully causing damage to the flywheel and the starter. There is a Honda service bulletin ( 16-002) calling to replace the starter and rotate the torque converter clockwise one bolt hole position. This can only be done one time so if it happens again( and it probably will)the torque converter will need to be replaced which is a minimum of $4,000 and even that won’t guarantee it won’t repeat this issue. This is a safety issue because there is a possibility that you could be stranded and vulnerable to hazards on the road .
All vehicle assistance lights on such as e-break, vsa, mitigation system, and cruise control show up as faulty. Infotainment system goes off on its own as well. Very bad electrical parking break light always shows up when vehicle starts. Taking it to dealer multiple times they claimed it’s ok.
All my warning lights keep coming on in dashboard and my car isn’t accelerating in cold weather after sitting overnight.
The touch screen radio will randomly start pressing itself, it’s a major safety issue. You can be on a road trip with the gps on the screen and it will randomly go to settings causing you not to be able to see where you need to go next. This is a constant problem I deal with everyday.
Started car and dashboard light came on then off showing steering wheel and exclamation point. Then re-started and drove normally. A few days later, when starting the steering wheel unable was unable to be turned. Dashboard light show steering wheel and exclamation point. Required towing. Dealer determined diagnostic code dtc 34-05 power relay stuck off I found multiple reports of power steering failure in this model Honda Accord 2013. Since there is no recall, it should be an extended warranty until next year. I’m asking if the power relay is covered by the extended warranty. Is there going to be a recall since this is so dangerous?.

Abs module failed.
Gear shift ignition and parts of buttons come on and off. Gear shift lights not at all anymore. The entire tire warped from around tire like it been detached from car and fell outward. I’ve had multiple fuel issues two brand new catalytic converters fuel pump and system cleaned put on filters changed and still have issues.
No start condition. Car takes minutes to start due to faulty push button start. This is a well documented condition by the public. The safety concern is that repeated attempts to start will drain the battery and cause degradation of the starter, which in case of an emergency or an occupant in an unsafe environment, or on a public roadway, puts the driver, occupants at risk. Honda is well aware of this problem but rejects any liability.
The infotainment system, audio, and warnings about parking collisions and lane keep assist are glitchy. The audio skips and stutters making hands free impossible. It makes commuting dangerous. Honda corp and the dealership are saying there is no recall and nothing they can do with no eta on a fix. They attempted a ota and manual software update but could not complete it. They said it is a known issue.
All lights have popped up on dash. Stayed on for 2 days back in July and then went off. Came back on 2 days ago (oct 5th) and have not went off yet. Lka, cruise control, parking brake light, tpms, traction control, and engine light.
The vehicle keeps braking automatically with nothing in front of me, I see numerous people reporting it so I figured I should aswell, nothing in front or near me when it automatically brakes, it is scary as heck tho!.
The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and occupied, the contact started the vehicle, and the vehicle shut off independently. The “maintenance required” message was displayed. The contact stated there was smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle, and several minutes later the smoke dissipated. The contact stated that a technician from the auto care department at walmart inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the positive and negative battery terminals were burned and damaged, as well a wire near the engine. The technician from walmart used a diagnostic machine to diagnose the vehicle however, the result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 238,000.

Have had numerous occurrences of the infotainment system having a mind of its own during the past several months. This issue has been commonly intermittent. Driving conditions, temperature, road conditions, time of day, or anything else have had an effect on when it happens or duration that it happens. I have taken my vehicle in to the Honda dealership to have it diagnosed. The dealership diagnosed the issue as "ghost touch" and their recommendation was to replace the infotainment system screen. It was days after the replacement that the "ghost touch" happened again with the new system installed. Most recently I had the vehicle in to the dealership for the "ghost touch" issue. After hours of troubleshooting the dealership used their tech line to find more information about the "ghost touch" issue from Honda. The response was as follows: "tech line has been made aware of a false (ghost/phantom) touch with the display panel. This issue is under review by the vendor. As all parts in stock are affected, replacement of the display panel for this issue is not recommended at this time. " as the infotainment system becomes self aware and makes involuntary changes to maps, directories, and phone usage completely on its own and at random, it becomes a distraction to operating the vehicle in a safe manner. I called Honda corporation to see if there was something that could be done and I was told to make sure that I went through the dealership and that they were aware of the issue. As this has become commonplace for the 2021 and 2022 Honda Accord models, that Honda has known about the issue for several years, and that there are apparently hundreds of owners of this vehicle that are having the same issue, that Honda would issue a recall or have a repair by this time. According to, and as of this date, the dealership is not aware of any recalls or repairs to this system by the manufacturer.
