3 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2012 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/10/2017

The timing between shifts on the automatic shifts are good sometimes and when air conditioning is on it makes noises and causes the car to have latency in gear shifts, the front wheel hub covers fall off causing the tire to roll over the plastic and rip it off the body , the coolant system is definitely compromised because the car overheats too fast especially in hot weather, the debris from the road get caught up in and around the engine and air filtration system from the wheel covers being faulty the parking break doesn't work well and it's been having the same problem since the day I bought it off the show room floor also the tie rods wear out so fast causing major problems while on highway shaking and vibrating the car and steering wheel, also the car burns oil so fast that you have to change the oil and filter at max 3000 miles, being that the newer models are having timing belt recalls in June 2019 this leads me to question why my model wouldn't have the same issues if not worse.

Failure Date: 06/12/2010

Knocking noise at low speed 5 to 10 mph. Appears to be in steering rack. Thought perhaps brakes but we have eliminated those. Popping noise can felt when moving steering wheel right to left and idle with or without engine running and holding hand on tie rod ends. Dealer says there is no problem but steering is not safe with this being felt. Car has 5000 miles on odometer and is 4 months old. It just started 1 day at about 4500 miles. The longer it is driven in a day the louder the noise becomes.

11 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2004

Steering rack. I bough my car in October 2003, and have about 6000 miles now. Back in December, for couple of days in the morning, when it was really cold, ~18-20f, car's steering got tighter and once steering wheel was turned even a little, would not come back automatically back but I had to pull it back. Later in the day, when it got warmer, it got better(although not perfect) . Again this happenened at higher sppeds as well. Couple of days later I was driving at about 50 miles an hour, steering wheel got extremely hard and I was not even able to change lanes which really scared me. When I took the car to the dealer, they agreed that at was a problem and put it up on a lift. When they noticed couple of scratches on the plastic nose skirt and plastic trims by the door, which got there due to minor pebbles etc. Striking the car when in motion. They told me that te problem was due to an accident, even though there is no other sign on the steering components or any other visible signs. I absolutely disagreed that it was due to an accident. Only remedy they told me was to get the steering rack changed. Well, they changed the steering rack and repalced it with a "Honda remanufactured steering rack" which they did not cover under any warranty, in addition they changed both the tie rod ends and some more smaller parts. The total was about $1400. I asked them to save the rack and when looked at it, obviously there was no visible damamge etc, but was told by the dealer that the damage is inside (the rack's metal pipe likage system?). I am 1000% sure that the steering rack has some manufacturing problem, and should have been replaced under warranty. I have saved the part and brough it home with me. I hope that the NHTSA folks would please help me with this issue. After the repair and a four wheel alignment, car still drifts slightly to left, but have been told by the dealer that it is normal.

12 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2001 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/15/2003

At 65 to 70 miles an hour on straight interstate car began to steer irradically to right. No response to wheel correction, fish tailing, struck one side concrete wall and crossed road to left guard rail. Brakes tried at least twice without response and correction of wheel after first hit did not correct direction. Airbags deployed front and right side after first hit and perhaps only on second. No significant injuries. Total front damage. Serpentine belt seen hanging upon removal of car. Tie rods and cv joint boots intact, but transmission just replaced under warrantee and cv joints on order for wear perhaps related to transmission being "very sloppy" creating front end vibration in floor at 50 miles an hour to 60 relieved by putting gear into neutral. Feel steering failure perhaps related to serpentine belt failure.
