1 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 1999 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

Vehicle has stalled once while idling and twice while driving - once on a city street and once at highway speed. On the highway, the car initially hesitated and then I felt a 'thunk' in the drivetrain {as if the engine restarted with a surge}, all of the dash lights flashed at least 3 times accompanied by a relay clicking with each on / off cycle. The speedometer gyrated about my actual speed ~5 mph below and then above before the engine completely died and I coasted to a stop. After turning the ignition off, the car restarted immediately as if nothing had happened, and I was able to resume driving normally. Although the ignition recall has been completed for this car, I am suspecting the problem could be the same issue the recall was supposed to prevent. The ignition coil, distributor and rotor, and wires were all recently replaced and a tune-up performed at the Honda dealer. No check-engine faults were captured during any of the stalling events that would have caused the check-engine light to come on.

2 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2010 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

When I start the car it rumbles and the rpms rev up. I know it is the wires that go from the ignition coils to the engine that is causing the problems but. . You cant buy that part at an auto part store bc the wire harness is not patented. . To go to Honda its $793. Since ive only had the car I have only put 50k mles on it. This is ridiculous that im having this major of an issue this soon.

Failure of ignition switch and coil. The vehicle stalled while driving. The consumer discovered that several 1997-2000 models were recalled for faulty ignition coils (recall number 02v-120000). The consumers vehicle did not fall within the scope of the recall however the vehicles ignition switch and coil failed which in turn shorted out the igniter. The consumer requested reimbursement. The distributor cap cracked and the rotors failed.
