On a two way lane highway, vehicle detects on coming traffic and causes sudden deceleration of vehicle and braking which can cause being rear ended by another vehicle. This also occurs on multi lane freeways when going in the same direction the vehicle will detect a vehicle in the lane next to me braking and again cause the vehicle to decelerate and brake which could cause an accident. Occurs at least once or twice a week. I have a video of the issue which might be better.
The vehicle unexpectedly began accelerating from a creep with no accelerator input. Acceleration ceased immediately as soon a the brake pedal was touched. No actual braking was required--simply a touch on the pedal. Acceleration was as if the accelerator pedal had been pressed about 1/4 down. It lasted about 1. 5 seconds from initiation to touching the brake pedal. The pavement was not on a grade but was substantially level. This is the 3rd or 4th such incident in the last few months. In the other incidents I was unsure if it was my imagination or some unrelated factor like grade. In previous incidents I had been about to accelerate in any case, and pressing the accelerator overtook it. In this incident, the car was navigating a parking lot, having just pulled out of the parking space and moved 50-100 ft. The car was moving in "creep" mode, I. E. , the ev system simulating the creep of an automatic transmission (CA 0-4 mph). My impression is that each incident occured not long after restarting the car, though I am not fully certain of this. In this occurence there was one passenger; in all previous occurences there was no passengers. In all occurences, the cruise control system was on but not engaged. The "driving style" was set for normal, as opposed to sport or eco. No alerts or unexpected lights were observed on the instrument panel. For the latest incident, the driver's floor mat was checked and found to be properly secured and well clear of the accelerator pedal. The car's last (and only) service was the normal Honda "a1" maintenance in may 2025 at ~11000 miles. Service was done at a Honda shop, so any firmware should be current to that date. The shop was not notified of the acceleration issue at that time. The Honda shop has been notified today (July 5).
Cruise control beeps and turns off by itself and doesn't come back on. Has been happening for months. I took it in to dealer and the said everything was fine and it is not and my warranty had now expired.

The adaptive cruise control is the safety issue. It creates danger for both me and for others. Traveling at speeds approximately 65-70 mph the car suddenly brakes very hard. Causes me and my passengers to be jolted extremely hard. Its happened 3 times, I was fortunate enough to not have anybody traveling behind me. If a car was to be traveling behind me at a safe distance the sudden braking would cause them to rear end me. I can only imagine how horrible the injuries could be. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealership. I have an appt. Scheduled March 4. 2025 at the local Honda dealership. There was no warning lamps that came on. There was no messages also no symptoms prior to these incident. Happens for unknown reason. This issue has occurred on 3 separate occasions. The most recent one was on Feb. 17, 2025.

As you are driving the the car will just say (brake) on the dash and will quickly apply the brakes when going slow and it's happened at speeds around 65 mph. With the cruise control on. Took car into Honda dealership no issues they said.
When I tried to start the vehicle on 10/14/24, it did not start, however it started showing various messages on the electronic dashboard. The vehicle was towed to john eagle Honda of dallas (Honda dealer) on 10/14/24 around 11:15 am. I am enclosing the diagnostic report run on the vehicle by the john eagle Honda of dallas on 10/15/24 which shows some of the messages I had seen on the dashboard. My dashboard never showed me low battery at any time but the car did not start and the message of lane departure, brake failure messages came on the dashboard. I have lojack app service on my phone which tracks everything on my vehicle. I used the vehicle on 10/11/24 and 10/12/24 and there was no issue in the vehicle nor did I see any dashboard warnings. The dealer kept the car overnight stating that they were too busy on 10/14/24 and promised me that they will provide alternate vehicle on 10/15/24 morning as per my phone call. I went to the dealership on the 15th at 8:50 am to pick up the alternate vehicle, the service advisor said I can take my vehicle since he had changed the battery and it was safe to drive and did not provide me the invoice for the replaced battery. I asked the service advisor for the diagnostic report and he informed me that everything was okay in the report. I insisted on taking the print out of the diagnostic report and had to wait to collect it. Seeing the time on the report I am able to understand that they ran the diagnostic report while I was waiting. After driving my vehicle from the dealership and not having new battery invoice in my hand I called Honda motor company customer service and narrated my dealership visit details along with being uncomfortable on the safety of the vehicle. I didn't get any help from them as well. They created a case number for me. They said that someone will reach out to me and no one has till date. If you need any other information please feel free to contact me.

The abs speed sensor on Honda vehicles are placed in such a way that is breaks often. And when it breaks, it leads to multiple sensors going off which may cause the abs to lock up while braking normally, car accelerating unexpectedly. For me the speed sensor on the right wheel was broken. This lead the car to accelerate unexpectedly and then the sensors would go off. Car accelerating and braking in a weird way would definitely lead to some issues. And when you go to the dealership for this issue, first they won't be able to diagnose it. They will simple reset the codes and say uts an intermittent failure and charge you 100 dollars for nothing. Then you have to go again the other day with the same issue and then they tell you its speed sensor. I think that's a bad service and since Honda knows of this beong common issue with how they have placed the sensor it should be recalled.

I am going down the road at 65mph and car loses all power, compression, speed. . . Starts shuttering, stuttering & shaking the car then it dies. . . It doesn't matter the conditions, whether I'm in city or on road. . . It does it anywhere and unexpectedly, never know when it's going to do it but it's dangerous it's not just once, it's every time I drive the car! not just once but several times!.

I was driving on 4/24/23 going 75 mph. The car made a rev up noise and be rpm’s suddenly increased and the speed was decreasing. The car was losing power. I had to pull over to the side of the road and shut the car off and let it sit for awhile. The. When I started it back up it ran fine. This is a safety issue as I had to pull over on the highway and sit on the shoulder and could have been hit. No lights came on the dash at this time.

When driving at high way speeds my steering wheel has been sticking which makes minor corrections much more difficult while at speed. With having to put in more effort to steer this could lead to an overcorrection in the turn which is a huge safety concern. This is a different issue than the current recall of the faulty eps repair part being faulty. This is the original part in the car that is having the issue with the eps gearbox or motor.
Headgasket failure at extremely low miles due to poor or flawed design. Vehicle has a valley between the cylinders where the gasket sits begging to be blown out. The low mileage failure rate is tremendous causing numberous drivability issues while on the road. You loose entire throttle control every light on the dash comes on. Every advance system shuts down. You loose every assist feature. It’s all of a sudden and random as well. Pulled out on to the main highway 52 and my car just fell on its face. If I wouldn’t have been in an area safely and quickly to hurry and get out of the way of traffic. It could’ve seriously caused a big accident. Pulling out on a highway or interstate with everything being normal then bam you have no control of the vehicle is a very horrifying situation to have to be subjected to.

I have noticed for a while now. When the light turns green or I'm at a stop and I have enough time to take off the car does not move when I apply the gas. It stalls and that scares me. I have noticed my cruise control shut off the other day when driving on the freeway. And I could not turn it back on. Now when I try to apply the parking bake when I'm parked the parking brake does not turn on nor the brake hold. The lights keep flashing than turn odd my headlight in the front and back passenger don't work. I've switched out the bulbs and it's an electrical problem. I see recalls on some of these matters but Honda won't do nothing because it's not on their system when I bought this car in 2016.

The contacts daughter owned a 2019 Honda Civic sedan. The contact received notification NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the parts to do the repair were not available. The contact stated that her daughter was driving at an unknown mph when the daughter stopped at the stop sign. However the vehicle did not stop, causing the contacts daughter to crash into the front driver side of another vehicle and both vehicles crashing into a wall. No warning lights illuminated,. All of the air bag deployed. The contact sustained bruises on her face, 9 stiches on her right hand and a bruised left knee which required medical attention. The contact did not go to the hospital by ambulance. The contact stated her daughter has suffered emotionally. The driver in the other vehicle did not seek medical attention at that time. The vehicle was towed to copart and deemed destroyed. A police report was not filed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) as a possible cause for the accident. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was given a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 44,825.

I was driving on the interstate had car on cruise control set at 70mph it began to slow to 60mph because of a vehicle in front of me so I moved to the left lane to go around and the vehicle just speed up (g5 force) on its own very quickly and reached speeds up to 80mph and would have kept accelerating past 80mph had I not disengaged the cruise control instead of braking. The second issue we have found was the steering became uncontrollable. It feels like the steering wheel gets stuck and hard to control to stay in your lane. You are not relaxed to drive this vehicle. Your body tenses up just to control the steering. We took it to the dealer for the steering recall but I don't think this is the issue. It is something more serious. We refused to drive our vehicle until it is repaired. A loner vehicle was given to us as the parts for the recall will not be in until April 2024.
After coming to a complete stop at a stop sign with the Honda civil, my husband (he) started to accelerate, but he could only go up to about 20 mph in a 55-mile zone. Next, the car made a bump noise when his foot was on gas pedal. The car went about 100 feet before it started to slow down on a busy highway. The car was not going the speed limit because it couldn't pick up speed. Multiple cars and trucks had to go around. Next, he had to pull over to the shoulder of the road because the car wouldn't pull no matter what gear it was placed in. The car stopped completely, and it had to be tolled home due to inability to move. Langdale Honda was called and asked about a possible recall on the transmission. They said that I would have to pay about $140 for an inspection for the problem.

When traveling on the highway, the cruise control system will cut out on random intervals, and not be available to turn back on unless you stop the vehicle, turn it off, and then turn it back on again. This poses an electrical system risk, and may encourage drivers to pull over on the side of the highway to restart their vehicle to regain access to cruise control. There are already many reddit and online forums about this issue I have linked below. There is also a service bulletin issued out for this issue, so Honda is aware that vehicles are affected, but this doesn’t actually fix the issue, since my car has already been in for service regarding this issue. . Read more...
Under multiple conditions, both intercity highways and two-lane country highways the cars adaptive cruise control with randomly slowdown/brakes extremely hard. In one specific instance I was driving home in the middle of the night with a vehicle behind me and with no other oncoming traffic or cars in passing lanes and the adaptive cruise "brake checked" the car behind me, I was able to react and cancel the adaptive cruise and avoid an accident. When adaptive cruise is set it will also aggressively approach the car in front, instead of gradually slowing down it will continue at the set speed until the car realizes it's to close and will slam on the brakes to slow down. When adaptive cruise is turned off the car will slam on the brakes if you attempt to accelerate to pass someone and coast back to set speed. In other words, the car will slam on the brakes to resume the set cruise speed. Fortunately, no cars have been behind me when this has happened. Nowhere does it say that this will happen when using normal cruise control? speeds and conditions varied from city traffic going 20 - 40 mph, the highway going 55-65 and the interstate going 70-80 mph. Some instances were at night others were during the day.
While driving on the freeway at 70-80mph the car begins to lose acceleration, stutters and faults all fault codes on the car. Car then begins to brake itself to a stop all while on a freeway at a high rate of speed. I have to pull over to the side of the freeway, crossing up to 5 lanes of high speed traffic all while my car is braking itself to a stop. I have narrowly missed 5 accidents in the 7 times this has occurred. Each time while in the left or carpool lanes of traffic while passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed. I have to bring the car to a complete stop on the side of the road, turn the car off to disengage the braking system, turn the car on, all fault codes remain, car stays in limp mode or safe mode, I limp to the dealer and drop it off. 2 Honda dealers in 2 different states can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Replaced multiple replays and other components and I am now about $3800 in repairs and the car is not fixed. This has been happening since March when the first occurrence happened. Second and 3rd in washington while visiting family in June and as of today, the 7th time occurred this morning while taking the car back to the dealer to have it looked at because it faulted on Saturday evening. Codes cleared when I started the car this morning and happened again as I was driving to the dealer. Each time the dealers have the car for a week. Say this fixed it, test drive it have no issues return it to me to have it happen within days of being returned. I’m terrified to drive the car at high speed even when I do get it back as “fix”????. I feel like my issues and security is being constantly over looked by Honda. Arrowhead Honda in arizona currently has the car for yet again more “repairs”.
This car followed me all the way home. I knew the driver was following me because I took a fake route home. I eventually stopped and he stopped with me. This driver is not mentally stable enough to own a license.
Each time I drove my car the tire pressure light would flash before the abs, brake system, power steering and traction lights would come on and the dealership could not find the problem although my car would not accelerate and the speed sensor has already been changed because only one went bad prior. 3 times to the dealership and no codes could be found and they couldn’t never duplicate the problem once the vehicle was turned off. This time the car jerked at take off and would not accelerate. They stated that it was the vbs module that had to replaced this final time.
I am having a problem with my 2017 Honda Civic si, it has been to a Honda service center twice now and continues to have the same problem after having the transmission speed sensor replaced twice now, there was a recall that did not affect my specific VIN but I am having the same problems listed in the recall, the service bulletin number is 18-102, I also have videos showing how the eps (electronic power steering) light appears on the cluster along with the speed displaying as 0 even though the vehicle is in motion. When the problem occurs initially the steering goes “limp” and is extremely easy to turn as if the steering assist is working too hard then after a few seconds the vehicle proceeds to jerk extremely hard to the left followed up by the speedometer displaying 0 mph, this is extremely frustrating as the car only has around 84k miles and I have only been in ownership of the vehicle for 3-4 weeks as of now (almost 3,000 miles have been put on the car.
Vehicle steering sticks and at times and locks while vehicle is in motion on highway and roads. Requires max effort to return to center and at times vehicle tries to follow lines on highway even with adaptive cruise control and lane departure system turned off. Very unsafe steering with almost a few accidents due to loss of control.
As driving down the interstate. My car was on adaptive cruise as well as lane assist. It was like a nightmare! the car took total control. Throwing me from right to left to right to left and finally into a concrete barrier. The vehicles suspension on the drivers side both front and back failed. It was a nightmare you could not wake up from. I could have easily rolled the car over. And easily hit other vehicles. No warning lights or anything was on before the incident.
Steering occasionally becomes extremely difficult at highway speeds, so stiff unable to make quick maneuvers to avoid potential accident.
Car accelerated into a garage door unintentionally. The brakes did not work. The problem has not been reproduced. The car was taken to a Honda dealer twice before the accident for the same reasons of sudden unintentional acceleration. The vehicle has been totaled and has not been inspected by anyone. There were no warning indicators that I am aware of.

The contact’s relative owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed while turning; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the vehicle was dragging and hesitating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My infotainment center has repeatedly failed during operation. It is distorted while driving, freezes, stuck on previous screen display. This causes all safety features to be inoperable. I can’t see the camera back up display. I can’t see the map or upcoming exit/next direction. The Honda genius features are impacted by this. My vehicle suddenly thinks I am exiting while I’m driving and randomly slams on breaks with no vehicle or object in front of me, it jerks my wheel even though there is no car or barrier next to me. I have resorted to turn off all of the safety features due to the infotainment center glitches making my vehicle very unsafe to operate. I have been in several near miss single vehicle accidents. Picture added to show screen distortion and no direction listed. Should be displaying navigation and upcoming turn but is frozen and distorted.
Failure of transmission control module description fits exact diagnosis in recall. Check transmission light on at 45,000 miles. Andy mohr wants money to inspect it. I an more than willing to if they will inspect it for free but it is not drivable. If they would come pick it up I would be happy to let them drive it all they want. The problem came with no warning on the highway. Car wouldn’t no longer switch to second gear. Purchased at andy mohr Honda in bloomington at 17,000 miles off lease from some someone who barely drove it. Certified preowned by Honda. Paid in full, feel ripped off. Yes, available for inspection on request no warning: transmission complete failure 2015 silver Honda Civic has been discussed with mechanics at curry Buick in. Bloomington as well as our winslow marathon which has great mechanics, they told me to contact you. The issue according to the nthsb is the “tcm” or transmission control module. Resulting in cars wheels locking up, or spinning out of control and not changing gears (this is what happened to me and repeated itself when I waited a week and tried driving around my neighborhood ) the issue is supposed to result in transmission and powertrain failure, making engine wanting to redline very easily. I’m lucky I didn’t burn my engine up. I didn’t purchase a car in 2018 at 17,000 miles and expect the transmission to fall out at 45,000 miles. That’s unacceptable and I was never notified, and andy mohr purports that my vehicle was either serviced or software changed resulting in no issue, however a transmission dying at 45,000 mi on a Honda Civic is not right and I suspect Honda notified the previous lessee and they did not service the car or had it improperly serviced. Otherwise I see no reason to have a car fall apart at 45,000 miles. I drive like grandma.
My steering wheel sticks after driving and the engine has a change to get warm. Once I go over 25 mph and the sticking begins I have to constantly over compensate to stay in my lane. This issue has made it nearly impossible to stay in my lane on highways and speed above 55mph.
Twice now when driving on the highway using cruise control my vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brake hard for no apparent reason. There were not vehicles ahead of me that were stopping/slowing. The warning "brake" comes across the dashboard. This potentially could cause a safety issue if someone were to rear-end me when the brakes were applied suddenly and hard. I am in the process of contacting the dealer to have the issue addressed.
2022 Honda Civic sport current milage: 21,000 miles. I have had this car since September 2021. Ever since my first day of ownership, the lkas system for assisting the driver with lane guidance constantly fights me. Often, the car turns the steering wheel by itself to hug the left lane line, often passing over the line and causing the lane departure warning to activate, shaking the steering wheel. This issue has occurred on the right lane line as well, but typically the issue is with the left lane line for my car. This happens every time I drive my car. I took my 2022 Honda Civic sport to a Honda dealership about a year ago to look at the lane departure issue. The mechanics were able to replicate the issue, however nobody knew what to do as no codes were supplied by the car. The employees acted as if I was stupid as I explained my issue, with video proof, however their doubt changed when their test drive concluded. I was later informed by Honda dealership employees that the car was "supposed to guide towards the lane lines. " I am not confident that any car is "supposed" to do anything as dangerous as the 2022 Honda Civic sport lkas system; this issue will increase the likelihood of accidental sideswipes on multi-lane roads, or loss of control in poor road conditions as you have to yank on the very stiff steering wheel and constantly apply pressure to oppose the lkas system. Another issue with the same 2022 Honda Civic sport is that the acc system malfunctions. For no reason at all, in perfect driving conditions and no warnings at all, cruise control will turn itself off. This is dangerous as I do not anticipate the deactivation of the system, leading the car to significantly decrease in speed on the interstate without. The system cannot be reactivated until the car is recycled; the vehicle must be pulled off the road to correct this problem. Nobody at the dealership knows what to do about the cars they sell.
Adaptive cruise control suddenly disengaged with a loud beep while on an interstate and collision mitigation braking also engaged without warning or reason. No warning lights or messages came on. Today, 12/16/2022 is the first time this happened.
