On the way down from grapevine along I-5, warning lights showed on my dashboard, e. G. Tire pressure monitor problem, emission system problem, brake system problem, etc. . . , I panic and exited the freeway. I opened the hood to cool the engine. After about an hour, I restarted the engine and the warning lights disappeared so I continued my travel. However, after about 40 miles, the warning lights came up again. So, I exited the freeway again. We called service dealer in bakersfield and based on our report he said the computer may not be talking with other parts. He asked us to bring it in. But this dealer is some 30 miles away and it's too far from home. I restarted the engine again and the warning lights went away after the engine has cooled down. So I went back to the freeway driving slowly and carefully until there was a slower truck in front of me. I tried to overtake the truck then I felt like something snapped, the same warning lights came out and I can feel the engine was losing power so I parked on the side and decided to have the car towed since it can stall in the middle of the road putting our lives in danger. When the car was towed to the Honda dealer close to home, it was diagnosed as initially fuel pump problem with an estimated cost of about $2,000. But the parts will take about a week to ship due to hazard issues. They offer to buy back our car but at only half the price that we bought it. It's almost four years old.
Fuel is getting into the oil sump causing oil dilution. The crv 1. 5-liter turbo engine has problems. This is due to gasoline seeping into the engine oil. I have concerns about the durability of the 1. 5-liter turbo engine and about my vehicle potentially stalling, especially in cold weather here in illinois. A safety issue. Honda says that I need to drive it more to allow engine heat to dissipate the fuel. True I don't put a lot of miles on my car, but how often I drive my car should not be factored in when designing a safe and reliable car. Fuel diluted oil will not properly lubricate critical engine parts. When I heck my oil, the level rises on my dipstick. There is also a smell of gasoline on the dipstick. I have to keep getting oil changes to fix that. This has been constantly occurring. Since I bought the crv (bought in March 2020).
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle steering wheel stalled while all warning lights illuminated. The contact managed to drive the vehicle to the residence where the next da the vehicle resume back to normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer hendrick Honda of charleston 1539 savannah highway, charleston, SC 29407 (843) 279-0447 where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine module needed ot reprogrammed vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000. Ck.
Engine rev up and down, then stalling and shuts off.
I have owned this vehicle 1 yr and a few months and have had to have the computer system wiped out and the software reinstalled more than 2x due to problem dash lights all of the sudden scrolling;road departure mitigation system problem, electric brake system problem, brake hold system problem, tire pressure monitor problem, emissions system problem, electric parking brake problem, power steering system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, ect. The vehicle was involved in a fender bender in the middle of all this chaos, but the problems started shortly after I bought it in may2019. At one time the computer would clear itself out and I could ride around for a day or two without all these lights flashing. That is no longer the case. These scrolling problem lights occur after I've been driving down the road but now they come on immediately when I turn on the vehicle. Prior to this and months ago, when I was rounding a corner on the freeway all the sudden the brake assist engaged as if I was too close to a vehicle in front of me. It was quite a jolt. The first time this occurred was October/November. 2019. This evening I got my oil changed and the mechanic found gas in my oil; I mentioned a gas odor last winter to the dealership when I took it in for oil change. They basically blew it off. No doubt about it now. In fact I even saved some of the oil that came out of the engine to show my husband when he gets home. I have used two different dealerships thus far because of workmanship issues at the first dealership. Now dealership number two does not even want to touch my vehicle.
I was driving my Honda Cr-v on a city street all off sudden the low tire pressure and brake system failure came on and the car just stalled and won't start. Once I got off the car, the locked and I couldn't unlock the door anymore. I towed it home as the dealership was closed for the day. Now the lights come on and the dash lights up and I can't turn it off.
Hello, I have 3 concerning issues. 1. My car stall from time to time. It does not seem to accelerate while driving. 2. My side mirror blind spot sometimes does not work and falsely goes off. 3. My console screen has gone black and does not work thanks for hearing my issues. Thanks, pihlip zachariah.
Car has stalled when in motion. Stalling happened once on highway, 2-3 other times on secondary roads. It feels like car "misses a beat" then strugles to reignite. Engine did not stop completely. At times there has been a smell of gas in the car when in motion.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Honda-crv. The contact stated that their daughter drove their vehicle home from college. While the contact's daughter drove home the vehicle began stalled. Then the vehicle'e engine shuttered uncontrollably. The vehicle decelerated and then lost power. The contact had to drive 300 miles to get their daughter. Then they switched out vehicles. The contact drove the vehicle back into town. The lane mediation and crash sensor waning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to rick hendrick Honda of charleston 1539 savannah hwy, charleston, SC 29407 (843) 279-0447 where the vehicle was diagnosed. The test read that the problem was linked to a spare tire that needed to be changed. The vehicle was repaired. Later on the repaired failed. The contact had the tires switched out due to ware and the vehicle still presented the failure. The dealer stated that a system reboot was done. The contact found that the reboot was not done at all. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. No assistance was provided, 57,774. Jw.
Car stalled. And vents smell of gasoline, gear shift is loose. Almost got in a car accident with my toddler and husband in car.
Oil dilution problem. Gas getting into oil. Honda "fix" did not work; same issue 300 miles after fix applied. Engine idling rough (especially during first start after sitting overnight), oil level rising in car, when you check the oil it smells like gas, fuel smell in cabin periodically, engine hesitating/stalling while trying to accelerate. Have visited dealership twice within 30 days for this problem with no resolution.
Yesterday I got in my car to head home from work. When I turned it on, I got a number of systems alerts, including the engine, brakes, power steering and others. I was able to get the car home, but when I was going to take it the dealership, the car sputtered and seems to be losing power as if it would stall. This is the third time that I have gotten system alerts and taken the car to be repaired. The first time, the oil was changed and a software update performed. The second time, a software update was performed. This time, I checked the oil and it was over full and smelled of gas. The car is now at the dealership for them to determine the issue. I live in texas. The first time this happened, was during the summer. The last two times have been in winter.
Went to local Honda dealer for regular oil change maintenance. After completing, noticed car seemed to be stalling and slow/non response in accelerating. By the time I got home about 7 miles away, all warning lights came up and car would not accelerate and go more than 5 mp/h. Very fortunately this happen near my home where traffic is light. Would have been very dangerous if it had occurred on highway.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and the brake, power pressure, cruise control, and lane assist warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was turned off, restarted, and taken to vann york auto mall (422 eastchester dr, high point, nc 27262, 336-841-6200) for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred to contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The diagnosis information was not available. The failure mileage was 24,100. The VIN was not provided.
Stalling, loss of engine power, smell of gas in the passenger compartment, audio display erratic, all while car is in motion; front running lights blinking when foot on brake. Problems occur in cold weather.
Oil mixing in the engine to the extent that may very well install the engine while driving in the high way. Honda corp need to get this issue fixed to prevent it happen.
Gasoline into my engine, stalled on highway last year. .
Oil dilution. When checking the level of my oil, it is way overfull on the dipstick. I took it to the dealer ( roush Honda - medina ), and was informed that yes, the oil level is high, and they confirmed oil dilution where the oil is diluted with gasoline. They informed me that it is normal and does not pose a problem. I do not believe them, I have read of instances where peoples Cr-v's have stalled out, and of premature engine wear. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Gasoline in the oil can not be right.
Upon removing the oil cap, there is a very strong odor of gasoline. After further research we found that this seems to be a problem this make and model of vehicle made by Honda. We will be contacting the service department at our local Honda dealer where the vehicle was purchase 10/2017. This vehicle has been driven about 1,500 miles. Very concerned about the reported stalls and long term effect of the engine itself. I am also concerned with potential of the vehicle stalling and losing both power steering and abs. I want this issue on record with the NHTSA.
Vehicle has 1. 5 l turbo engine and gas is diluting the engine oil. Level has risen 10 mm above the last oil change level done 4/19/18, after 5070 miles. Some owners have reported this to NHTSA as a vehicle stalling problem, which I believe is a safety issue. This has not happen to us, but I am concerned that it could. I reported it to my local Honda service at ganley Honda of n. Olmsted, OH. They seemed to be unaware of this potential problem, even though consumers reports did an extensive article on the 1. 5 l oil dilution problem.
The car has a serious engine issue associated to the 1. 5 l turbo engine. The engine is unable to warm up up properly in cold weather states and therefore is unable to output an adequate amount of heat that is required to keep the cabin warm for the owner. The engine is also diluting gasoline into the oil reservoir leading to a gasoline smell when checking oil levels. This oil dilution is going to cause extensive wear within the oil reservoir since it's not supposed to be there under proper and normal conditions. There have been cold morning on which I have accelerated and felt the vehicle stall and I feel the oil/gas mixture is to blame for this dangerous and life threatening defect of this engine. I'm afraid to accelerate in traffic conditions that may cause me to get rear ended and injured/killed due to stalling the vehicle while in motion on a city street or highway. Honda will not acknowledge that this is a problem with their 2017 crv and newer since the manufacturer states it is normal operating conditions to have oil and gasoline mixing. I would like to have a buyback of this vehicle and be done with this brand for the failure to correct this and poor judgement to continue to selling this vehicle.
I was driving north on hwy 86 from the city of imperial CA. When I set my cruise control at 65 mph suddenly start going up and down with the speed ( going up to 67 and down to 64) with no vehicles in front of me. I arrive to my house and after hearing problems with the stalling on the Cr-v models , my husband check the oil and it smell a lot to gasoline.
I purchase a 2017 Honda crv-ex with the 1. 5 liter turbo engine. During the past 6 months I've been having the following problems with my vehicle the oil smell of gas, passenger compartment smell like gas, rising oil levels, stalling and loss of power. I understand that Honda motor company , ltd has recalled 350,000 Honda crv's in china because of the same problem. The company is calling back those cars to resolve a problem caused by an unusual amount of un-combusted petrol collecting in the engine's lubricant oil pan. Honda dealerships in canada with oil dilution problems have already started repairs of their 2017 & 2018 Honda Cr-vs after it was contacted by canadian motor vehicle arbitration plan (camvap). I would like Honda to buy back my vehicle unless I received the same repairs as the canadian Honda owners, which are the following: 1. ) performed n60 campaign (oil dilution) 2. ) replaced climate control unit 3. ) replaced drain plug washer 4. ) replaced oil 5. ) updated pgm-fi and tcm software. 6. ) warranty extensions on all engine components for up to six years from original date of purchase, with no mileage limit. Given that the problem is well documented, Honda has a responsibility to address the issue in an open and transparent manner. Honda had knowledge of the turbo engine defects that cause fuel to enter the engine and did absolutely nothing for an entire year. I seek a permanent fix to the problem, not just a flushing out of the vehicle's oil reservoir as the dealership has already performed to no effect. If Honda cannot remedy the problem, I seek a full refund of my vehicle.
Our crv is one that has the problem of gas getting into the oil. We have three evidences of this: 1) the oil level is much too high; 2) the oil smells like gas; 3) the engine from time to time has not run or idled properly, although we have not experienced any stalling. Yesterday I took the car in to our dealer and requested an oil change under warranty as we view this as a defect, and Honda refused to cover the cost of this. The dealer graciously agreed to a one-time free oil change as a courtesy, but I feel Honda should have covered this. No matter what their experts say, gasoline in the oil cannot be good for the engine! we are told that a fix is in the works, but Honda should have notified us of the problem!.
I was pulling into traffic in clearfield, PA barely escaped getting hit by a dump truck when the car practically stopped. I got to the berm of the highway, the car would not go over 4 mph. I got to a parking lot and put it in park, tried drive and reverse, the car would not go over 4 mph. I shut it off for a few minutes, restarted it and it drove ok. Upon hearing of the earth dream engine issue, I had oil checked at an auto zone, oil level was about 1/4 inch up on the actual metal on the dipstick and smelled strongly of gas. Called Honda America, was accused of driving with one foot on the gas and one on the brake. Called the dealer where I purchased the car, preston Honda in new castle PA, service manager dan said they never heard of gas being in the oil and maybe I did have "one foot on the gas and one and the brake thinking I was driving a stick shift". I had driven to a conference lewisburg, PA, after finding someone to finally admit there was a problem, and the car still in warranty,it was towed to the nearest Honda dealership in muncy, PA where the oil was changed and the overfill and gas in oil was documented. After 500 miles the oil chamber is once again overfill with a smell of gas. I had the oil changed again today (905 miles), where preston Honda in new castle PA continues to deny any known issues, refuses to document the oil chamber being overfull and will only document a mild gas smell. This is extremely dangerous. How do I know which trip will be my last when I either get killed or cause someone else to be killed in a terrible automobile accident when the car once again stalls in traffic. I have documentation of all oil changes since the car, I have attached those which have documentation of problem.
Gasoline contamination to oil. Oil levels are high and smell of gasoline. American Honda representative advises there is no fix. Recommends oil changes as needed, but will not reimburse cost. According to consumer reports, Honda crv (2017 & 2018) owners are reporting stalls. This has potential to be a serious safety issue. No recall announced. Please get with Honda and investigate.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v. While making a turn, the vehicle stalled and restarted without warning. The vehicle was taken to stokes Honda cars of beaufort (855-647-4874, located at 88 robert smalls pkwy, beaufort, SC 29906) where the technician replaced the oil and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,550.
Stalled momentarily at highway speeds. Oil stick indicates 25 % excessive fluid.
On Thursday, October 4, 2018 after getting off a freeway and slowing down, I pressed the accelerator to increase the speed, but it did not pick up; I tried many times but my car barely moved (like 10 or 15miles). I panicked but I just tried to park my car in the parking of a nearest grocery store. I could barely move the car and parked the car there. I immediately called aaa. A guy from aaa checked my car and turned on the engine; we smelled very strong gasoline-like exhaust. He suggested my car should be taken for inspection. My car was towed to a Honda dealer by aaa. On 10/5, the result was "oil was over-filled 3-4 qrts over. Drained all the oil and refilled to spec. " (after 4,500 milage, my car's oil change had been done by another Honda dealer one month before. ) as my car was fine, I was told to pick it up. But I found a consumer report article about 2017 Cr-v's rising oil level (gasoline-mixed oil), stalling, loss of power, gas smell, etc. The service and sales persons I asked about this issue said that they had never heard about the issue. On 10/6, the qc manager called me, telling me that I should check my car's oil level every 500 miles without explaining much. He is aware of the issue, but he did not know it until the previous day, he said. He did not know about a fix. I am now scared of driving this car and cannot trust this Honda dealer any more. While I am writing this report, my car problem has not been resolved yet; I have not even picked up my car yet from the dealer. As of now (10/7), this Honda dealer has not responded positively to my car problem. I just wanted to make this report today to warn the owners of 2017 Cr-vs about a possible danger.
We are experiencing the same fuel dilution in the engine oil that many other owners with 2017-18 Cr-vs with the 1. 5t engine are experiencing. We live in va. I feel as though I don't need to go into details as this issue is so well known, prompted a ban on sales of the vehicle in china, etc. They keep pushing back the recall and now announced for the first two months, it will only be available in select northern states. A simple search through complaints shows that this problem is not isolated to the northern states, it may be exacerbated by significantly cold weather, but the way they are rolling out a recall is not acceptable. It's unsafe (causes stalling vehicles on the highway and in traffic, which is most definitely a safety concern) and causes premature wear on the engine (a consumer protection issue). Nhtsa needs to step up and accelerate enforcement action, e. G. Make them accelerate the recall to all of their customers, not just just arbitrary classification and order based on whether or not you live on one side of a state line or the other. It gets cold in va too. The Honda dealer basically told us we're out of luck until the recall, and to keep changing the oil.
I own a Honda Cr-v /ex 1. 5 liter turbo engine. Aug 14 2018 noticed oil level on dip stick was above highest level indicator and oil smelled of gas. Called independence Honda in bloomsburg PA and brought vehicle on Aug 21,1018 for appointment to check this condition. They changed oil and told me that Honda knows about this issue and is working on a fix. They told me to bring it back in 3000 miles for another oil change. The same condition was found on oct 22, 2018 when I brought it back after 3000 miles. I was told Honda would have a fix soon. December I received a letter from Honda with product update 2017-2018 Cr-v . I called independence Honda to schedule the update on Dec. 26, 2018 , which was performed. I was told that this was the fix for this gas in oil problem. On Jan, 23, 2019 I checked the oil and the oil level was 3/8" higher than the highest level indicator on the dip stick and the oil smelled of gas. I took the vehicle to independence that day for their inspection of the problem. After their inspection they told me that this is a normal condition for this engine. This was the same problem they have been telling me for the last 6 months that Honda knows the problem and they will have a fix for it. The fix has not worked on my vehicle. Honda needs to recall these vehicles and install new components to prevent this condition and also extend engine warranties. I consider gas in the oil a safety issue. If vehicle stalls or has exceleration issues in traffic it could cause an accident and injury.
After starting up the crv in the garage, I exited it and climbed a short ~100' ramp about the height of 1 story at 10 mph or less. During at least two times in the past 7 months, the engine sputtered while climbing this ramp and neared a stall point. This occurred while in montana. After applying pressure to accelerator, sputtering stopped. Additionally, there have been numerous times at startup when the central display screen freezes, remains black, denying navigation assistance among other options. It appears the only way to correct this is to restart the vehicle.
I can smell gas in my cabin every once in awhile. The fix for this issue was promised by the end of November, yet we have no information yet. I had reported this issue to my dealer in the past, at the time they told me it was nothing. On my last visit they claimed they had spilled some oil during the oil change and that was the smell. They seem to be stalling while they await a fix. . Read more...
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the high oil levels on the dipstick caused the vehicle to occasionally stall and created a fuel odor in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to (mcgrath city Honda, 6720 w grand Ave, chicago, IL 60707) where they changed the oil. Two weeks later, the oil level was high again. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 3,500.
On several separate occasions the car has lost power and stalled while I was driving.
