1 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2021

Oil levels in car are above the dipstick and smell like petroleum has leaked into the oil. The fix that Honda introduced for the oil dilution issue has clearly not worked. Inside of car has a petroleum smell. Makes me lightheaded/dizzy. I had to pull over on the side of the highway - stop the car and air it out. There was not accident, but this continue issue can cause a major problem while driving including accident, injury and death.

2 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2021

Engine oil levels are high due excessive dilution by petroleum. As a result the oil pan is high causing oil leaks. There are new oil drips in my garage every day. I'm sure the engine oil is leaking intermittently when I drive; I also notice oil drips on the ground at work. The oil level continues to be high even with the leaks. Honda dealership confirmed the oil has petroleum in it. Honda also accepts dilution is normal in their cars with this engine, yet the dealership denied any safety concerns with the leak. The dealership simply added a dye and asked that I continue driving and come back for an oil change which will be due in about 3000 miles. The oil mixed with petrol caught on fire when I was smoking in the garage. This is a serious safety concern for everyone that works in their garage, smokes, cooks or has a heat source near it. It can cause fire and death. High chances of engine stalls due to excessive pressure.

When I go to Honda dealership, they tell me I have no recalls on my car, although im reading everywhere else, and im getting notices in the mail on a few of them. I feel like im being lied to about my car and im afraid that my car is going to fall apart the longer I keep it. I would like to see if I can get someone to advocate for me on the issies that I am having with the Honda dealership/corporation. I was on my way home from work three days ago, and I could not get my car to shift into reverse, I released the shift button and it popped out onto my floorboard. Honda now says they will not cover the full cost of repair. My recall that I was supposed to have done about my motor leaking gas into the oil was never repaired and they are telling me that even though I got the notice in the mail, my vehicle shows does not need repaired. Please help me. I have never felt so helpless and they tell me I was never sent a recall notice, when I have it in my hand.

Failure Date: 02/22/2019

Fuel is leaking down into the oil pan raising the oil levels on the dip stick as mileage increases, which will result in premature potential engine failure. This is also going to hurt the resale value of the vehicle. For example, 2k miles after last oil change, oil levels have increased to a quarter inch above recommended "full level" displayed on the dipstick.

10 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2019

On multiple occasions, while getting an oil change on my 2017 Honda crv, the maintenance tech told me that my oil smelled very much like gasoline. Gasoline must be leaking into oil somewhere in engine. This can be a safety and maintenance issue.

11 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2018

Checked my oil level it was above the max level. The oil indicator says we have 10% oil life. And the oil smells like gasoline. Went to the dealer they said it's not a problem. They gave us a speech that it's normal to have gas that leaks to the oil and it will evaporate. Our other cars doesnt. It hasn't affected the car yet but just concern that something will happen while I'm driving.

12 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

The car was not in motion. It is winter in michigan. When checking the oil dipstick the level of oil on the stick was high and smelled strongly of gasoline. I hope that Honda will address this issue soon and recall its us crv's for repair quickly.

13 Engine Oil Leaking problem

15 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2018

My car has about 8800 miles. Had the engine oil first changed at 6100 miles. Since then, the engine oil level keeps rising during normal use. The oil level is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the full line. Honda dealership says that nothing is wrong, and that no one else has had problems. When I had the oil changed by an independent mechanic, they stated the following: "oil consistency was like water and smells of gas. Oil registered overfilled. Oil is also leaking from rear main seal area. Recommend having this checked by Honda. " if you look online, there are plenty of complaints about oil dilution in the 1. 5 l turbo engine. Consumer reports investigated this issue and confirmed the problem. Because of oil dilution, some engines have been stalling while on the road. Not only is this a quality issue, but it is a safety issue in the long run.

16 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2018

I have smelled gasoline three times recently when driving. I called the Honda headquarters. They told me this problem is something they are working on. There is no fix for it at this time. They claim gas leaks into the oil filter which can affect the engine. I am concerned about my safety snd a possible engine problem. I have received no satisfaction. In addition I have had two other major problems in the short time I am driving my car. My battery needed to be replaced 7 months after I drove out of the dealership I was parked in a parking lot when my battery died. Recently the gear shift knob broke off when it was in drive and I was not able to shift gears. I was dropping off a passenger. It was replaced.

17 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

I purchased my car from brown's Honda 712 crain highway, glen burnie, MD 21061 on June 20,2017. On October 6, 2018 ibecame aware of a very serious problem with my car that has the new 1. 5 l turbocharged engine. I noticed that the oil level, as shown on the dip stick, was at least 0. 5 inches above the top fill mark. I immediately drained the oil and discovered that the volume of oil was 4. 75 quarts or 28% above the car's specification of 3. 7 quarts. The drained oil was very black in color and to the touch felt less viscous than new 0-20 oil. It appears that the increased volume is due to gasoline mixing with the oil. On oct 6,2018 (current odometer reading11467 miles) the oil had run in the engine for about 5400 miles. My first oil change at the dealer was at 6000 miles on 4/16/2018. As you are aware, dilutionof the oil with gasoline is a serious problem that will inevitably lead to premature engine failure and operability/safety problems in the future such as stalling. I visited the brown's Honda dealership today 10/8/2018 and explained the issue stated above. The service director, advised me to keep checking the oil level and come back if any running issues occur. The dealer isunable to correct the issue of gasoline leaking into the oil. This problem substantially impairs the future value of my car and potentially it's safety. Gasoline in the engine oil will lead to premature engine failure.

18 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

I have noticed a gasoline smell in the passenger compartment of my 2017 Honda Cr-v ex from time to time, so I did some online research and found that the problem is widespread. It seems similar vehicles suffer from the same problem where gas is leaking into the oil. I checked my oil level, and sure enough the level is very high and the oil smells like gas.

19 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2018

A few weeks ago, my wife and I were driving on the interstate and noticed a gasoline smell in the passenger compartment, which lasted a short period of time and went away. On another occasion we noticed the smell again. I checked the fuel fill tube but found no problem there. I also checked under the hood and detected a fuel smell but saw no evidence of a leak. While under the hood I checked the oil and smelled a strong fuel smell in the oil. The fluid level on the dipstick was 7/8 above full level. I checked and double checked the levels and smell and there was definitely gasoline in the oil. I contacted the dealership (johnson city Honda in johnson city, TN) and was told that this was a characteristic of the 1. 5l engine when it was driven at low speeds and should be driven at higher speeds on the freeway to burn off the fuel in the oil! (we had just returned from a 750 mile interstate trip). They did change the oil but there was no resolution to the problem. Since then the oil level has increased to above full level and the fuel smell is present. In my opinion, gasoline in the oil presents a safety hazard in that it can ignite under extreme heat conditions and can cause respiratory issues with passengers when the smell migrates to the passenger compartment. I have received information that Honda has recalled approximately 350,000 of these vehicles in the asian market, but they have not made any attempt to correct the problem in the u. S.

21 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2018

I heard that there is oil level increase problem on this make, model, and year's engine because of fuel leak, so I checked the engine oil level a few hundred miles after changing the oil and found that the oil level is much higher than the maximum mark on the dipstick. I brought the car to dealer previously, complaining of a smell of gas in the oil when I checked it initially, and they said it is fine, that nothing is wrong. Both times of checking the oil, the car was in my garage, stationary, on level ground.

22 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2018

Fuel-oil smell in cabin and outside the car when it is parked in-door after drive. Fuel in oil. The oil level exceeds maximum. Gasoline smell in the oil. The car does not comply with the manufacturer's technical specification. Risks and potential impacts: the odor causes irritation of respiratory system. It can cause health problems. According to Honda : "overfilling the engine oil can result in leaks and engine damage. " the diluted by gasoline or any other substance oil impacts engine work and the air turbine which is lubricated and cooled by engine oil. I am afraid of the car engine may stop on a road causing a collision.

23 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

My new 2017 Honda crv ex that only has 6850 miles driven on it has a terrible defect with oil dilution issues due to fuel leaking into the oil pans causing overflow and dilution to the oil that is supposed to be lubricating the engine. The oil smells very potent of fuel and almost 1 quart of extra fluid was drained from the oil pan when taken into the dealer after reporting the issue. The dealer agreed that there was a major issue with fuel diluting into the oil but were told by the Honda corporate tech line that they were to just replace the oil until a fix comes out. The dealer technicians asked about changing the fuel injectors or maybe a cylinder head replacement but were told not to do anything. It is not safe to release these cars back to the owner knowing there is an defect issue that they didn't even really attempt to fix that is causing internal engine parts to break down faster than normal and could cause serious safety concerns due to eventual breakdowns leading to wrecks. The companies "fix" is to go in for an oil change every 500-1000 miles even though excessive fuel is still mixing with the oil. Honda has reported that this is happening in colder climates, but I am still having major issues with this in tennessee weather.

24 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2018

I bought this 2017 crv exl-nav awd in 05/2017. We did the first maintenance on March 17 to chance oil at 8000 miles. There is oil leakage, I will talk this on another complaint. I heard that there is oil excessive problem on this 1. 5t engine, so I checked the engine oil level at about 8800 miles and found that the oil level is more than 10mm higher than the maximum mark on the lipstick. I brought the car to dealer and they said it is fine. I am very upset with their answer. I have attached the photo, the oil level is exceeding the orange plastic to the metal part. Actually crv has been stopped for sale in china for 2 months until Honda initiate a recall and extend the warranty to 6 years. Reliability is the main reason I bought Honda, now I am so disappointed. Will not consider any Honda unless they offer a satisfactory solution.

25 Engine Oil Leaking problem

27 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

Bought this 2017 crv exl-nav awd in 05/2017. We did the first maintenance on March 17 to chance oil in the dealership and they found there is oil leakage. They scheduled a another day to fix it by adding some silica glue under warranty. I can not believe a new car within 1 year and 8000 miles has oil leaking issue. Reliability is the main reason I bought Honda, now I am so disappointed.

28 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

I purchased a 2017 Honda crv-ex with the 1. 5 turbo engine in November 2017 and plan to give this car to my niece as a graduation present in 2019. I took it for its first oil change, at 137 miles, and the dealer told me that there was gasoline in the oil. After the oil change, I researched the issue and discovered that many people (2017 Honda crv owners with the 1. 5 turbo engine) in the USA had this problem. The details are listed in the Honda forums and on edmunds. I also saw that Honda was recalling 350k 2017-2018 crvs with the 1. 5 turbo engine , in china, as the software needed to be updated. It appears that the fuel ejectors were supplying too much gasoline and the residual gasoline was leaking around the cylinders into the oil. I requested Honda-USA to get access to this software update via my local dealer (boch Honda west in westford, MA). It is my understanding that the software update is available. Honda-USA sent me a response indicating that there was no recall on my vehicle and I should go back to the dealer. I have called the dealer, again, but they cannot do much without the software update. I told Honda-USA that this problem is very concerning for the future of the engine reminded them that their dealer found the problem of gasoline in the engine and that both I and the dealer were concerned. My case number with Honda is 07116734. Some of the web sites (links) that further define the problem ate as follow: 1) https://www. Reuters. . Read more...

29 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

Since the purchase of our new 2017 Honda Cr-v, there has been gasoline getting into the engine oil. The oil level indicator or dip-stick shows the oil far above the full mark and there is an obvious strong oder of gasoline. When first starting the car, gasoline odors are very strong in the exhaust and sometimes within the car interior. Gasoline is considered a solvent and it will reduce the life of the engine if it is always leaking into the engine oil. I'm very concerned about safety and an engine fire. I contacted the service department three times about the problem. At my last visit, Honda finally acknowledge the problem a provided a software update. The problem remains unchanged. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with my new car and want some help getting it fixed or help with returning the car back to Honda and reimbursed for the cost. The problem occurs all the time, in cold and warm weather.
