Car Stall Problems of Honda CR-V - part 1

I have a 2019 Honda crv, purchased new on guam from triple j Honda (tamuning) on Jan 2020. As of may 2023, my car has about 32,000 miles but my car began having trouble starting [engine made sputtering(?) noises when turning the key] that morning. Then, while driving in traffic, the car had stalled/stopped working in the middle of rush hour (around 9am) traffic!!! thank the lord, though, the traffic light had just turned red so all the other drivers were slowing down around me! I tried over & over again, but the car wouldn't start! so, the police had to stop/redirect traffic and also helped me push my car to a safe area. Almost all the warning signals on my dashboard were lit on, so I wasn't sure what caused the problem. The engine warning light was also on, so I had a towing company take my car home to replace with a new Honda battery. After placing a new Honda car battery (bought at triple j tamuning), it still had difficulty starting, made sputtering noises, and was drivable for only 2-3 feet, then it died again! I had to tow my car again but to triple j Honda (tamuning) to diagnose the problem. The service advisor told me that the reason why my car won't start is because "you have a major problem with your fuel pump. " I researched online and found that 2018-2019 Honda crv had safety recalls for the fuel pumps. So, I searched the NHTSA & owners. Honda. Com websites whether there's a safety recall for my car; but there's no recall showing based on my VIN. Is it true that more cars are being still being added or owners notified later about the safety recalls? this 2019 Honda crv is the only car available to make deliveries/pick up some supplies for my (very small: me & my mom) family business. So, we really do need this car working reliably ASAP. If triple j Honda says that I have to pay for the fuel pump replacement because there's no safety recall for my car's VIN, what can/should I do? how can I know or be notified whether my car will get a safety recall? thank.

On the way down from grapevine along I-5, warning lights showed on my dashboard, e. G. Tire pressure monitor problem, emission system problem, brake system problem, etc. . . , I panic and exited the freeway. I opened the hood to cool the engine. After about an hour, I restarted the engine and the warning lights disappeared so I continued my travel. However, after about 40 miles, the warning lights came up again. So, I exited the freeway again. We called service dealer in bakersfield and based on our report he said the computer may not be talking with other parts. He asked us to bring it in. But this dealer is some 30 miles away and it's too far from home. I restarted the engine again and the warning lights went away after the engine has cooled down. So I went back to the freeway driving slowly and carefully until there was a slower truck in front of me. I tried to overtake the truck then I felt like something snapped, the same warning lights came out and I can feel the engine was losing power so I parked on the side and decided to have the car towed since it can stall in the middle of the road putting our lives in danger. When the car was towed to the Honda dealer close to home, it was diagnosed as initially fuel pump problem with an estimated cost of about $2,000. But the parts will take about a week to ship due to hazard issues. They offer to buy back our car but at only half the price that we bought it. It's almost four years old.

When I star the car and drive the yellow warning light stay on and the red light blink and not go off. All warning light. (tps, collision mitigation problem, emisi�n syst. Problem, electric brake problem, etc. ). Aslo this happen already 4 times before. Couple times I use my brakes when I was drive and I felt that the car no stop righ at time and almost hit the other car. Also I change my motor oil and the old one is mix with gasoline and is more volume that I put in. Also some time when I drive the car star to stalling.

I took my car to the repair shop because my car vibrates and idles low to where it feels like it is going to cut off at a stop sign or traffic light while in gear. The shop changed out the valve gasket and did an oil change paid $260. 00 the car continued to low idle and vibrate at the stop lights and and stop signs felt like it was going to stall out. A week later I took my car to another repair shop and they changed out the coils and spark plugs also cleaned the body throttle which cost me $820 left there and still my car at traffic lights and stop signs while in gear vibrates and idles low and feels like it is going to stall out. So I took it back to that shop 3 more times for the same issue. I then took the car to the Honda deal ship where they did a diagnostic and updated the computer system and still my car vibrates and idle lows and feels like it is going to stall out when in gear at stop lights and stop signs. Honda did not fix the issue.

While driving a short distance, driving slow as I was in my subdivision my vehicle started jerking, it felt like it was going to stall, the engine light came on and started flashing repeatedly. I noticed a bad odor. I was only a minute or so from home and driving slowly, maybe 10 or 15 mph. The sputtering, jerking and flashing engine light continued the rest of the way home. I got half way up my driveway and it felt like it was stalling so I stopped and shut vehicle off. A strong burning smell continued and I noticed smoke coming out of the passenger side exhaust pipe.

Entered the vehicle and began to drive. The problem lights all appeared as driving: steering, tire pressure, emergency brake, engine. The car stalled as driving and steering was made difficult, did the der der der noises. I felt endangered with my children and puppy in the vehicle.

About a month ago, I was parking my crv and all of my dashboard warning lights came on. My cruise. Lane keep assist other features are completely disabled when this happens. My dealership states I need fuel injectors. I have done research on this problem, and Honda is very aware of this fuel injector problem. They actually put an extended warranty in place on the powertrain to remedy this . Unfortunately the powertrain warranty does not cover fuel injectors. On one occasion. Nov. 3 2020, my car stalled while going 70 miles per hour on the highway. Afterwards I smelled a strong fuel smell in my car. I have smelled this odor several times, however Honda says this is not a safety issue. I bought the car Jan. 2020. It had 89k miles on it. I did not think this new car would need an extended warranty. So Honda wants over $1100 to put fuel injectors in. I have read online about the many issues with the 2017 and 2018 crvs. The dream motor is a problem and Honda knows it. I guess it will take someone dying before anyone will pay me any attention. Honda says this is not a safety problem therefore I am assuming it is safe to drive, as I have to have my car. I am a nurse and travel on my job. I have no cruise, lane keep assist, lane stability or any of those features. I dont know how this car will pass inspection like this. Please help me. Google problems with 2018 crv. . . . . . Honda knows all about it. I have already filed a complaint with them. Please advise if seeking legal counsel will be beneficial to me. Thank you.

This the third incident, where I was driving the vehicle and the car lost power, stalled, shut down, and all the sensors on the vehicle went off. The vacaville Honda dealership on the second time refuse to document my issue or look at the battery without me paying for a service. I brought the car in for service. I feel really unsafe in this vehicle and vacaville Honda has a history of not documenting my concerns. The vehicle was in motion and I came to a stop sign where I turned right and noticed the car was not moving when I pressed the gas. The car turned off and then turned on and all the sensors came on. I was able to get the car rolling by going down hill going about 2 mph, even though the speedometer said 16 mph. There was not way I was going at that speed. I had to have the car towed locally to another Honda where I lived and they were unable to tell me why all the sensors went off.

Recently my car has been stalling every time I try to accelerate after making a complete stop. My car will sputter then it will start moving again. Sometimes in the morning after I start my car it will stall after a few seconds.

Fuel is getting into the oil sump causing oil dilution. The crv 1. 5-liter turbo engine has problems. This is due to gasoline seeping into the engine oil. I have concerns about the durability of the 1. 5-liter turbo engine and about my vehicle potentially stalling, especially in cold weather here in illinois. A safety issue. Honda says that I need to drive it more to allow engine heat to dissipate the fuel. True I don't put a lot of miles on my car, but how often I drive my car should not be factored in when designing a safe and reliable car. Fuel diluted oil will not properly lubricate critical engine parts. When I heck my oil, the level rises on my dipstick. There is also a smell of gasoline on the dipstick. I have to keep getting oil changes to fix that. This has been constantly occurring. Since I bought the crv (bought in March 2020).

On 2/7/2020 I was operating my crv, made a left turn into driveway of tavern/restaurant, 1080 e. Philadelphia Ave. , gilbertsville, PA. 19525 and pulled into the first parking space about 10 feet from street. I slowed down to almost a stop approx. 2 feet from concrete parking block, my foot was on the brake and engine accelerated very high causing the vehicle to jump the parking block and striking the restaurant wall. Approx. 8 feet from parking block. My wife asked me what I was doing and I pointed to my right foot on the brake. No one was hurt and very minimal damage to wall. There was a police report to douglas twp. Pd. I spoke to piazza Honda dealership where vehicle was towed to and manager said that I most likely had my foot half on brake and half on gas pedal. I also gave same story to allstate insurance. I requested that hey check the black box in vehicle and both said they could not. My vehicle was repaired after $9. 000. 00 estimate was written. I was so afraid to drive the vehicle again and I traded it in to piazza Honda without leaving their business after it was repaired. I have been driving for 60 years and never had my foot half on brake a nd half on gas pedal. The brake and gas pedal are separated by at least 3 inches. If it was on both pedals, I am sure the brakes would have screeched. The vehicle was in the shop at piazza Honda 4 days prior to the accident for PA. Vehicle inspection and during the exam they told me that the left front strut was leaking and they installed a new one. The vehicle was only 8 months old with 11,000 miles on it. .

While driving at a slow speed in a parking lot vehicle misfired and all electrical components became nonfunctional. Lost some control of the vehicle. Parked car immediately and car started to rev itself while in park without pushing the pedal. All system alert indicators came on indicating issues with multiple electrical & engine components. Turned car off for a minute. Turned car back on and all indicator lights remained. Called local Honda dealership immediately and had towed to dealership. Honda dealership indicated that they noticed misfires as well when testing and car was not performing well. Dealership indicated the following in diagnostic report: "found engine oil to be over filled. Code p0300 randam misfire. There was gas in the fuel - performed oil change and updated the pgm - fi system" after conducting research we found that this is a known issue with Honda crv 2018 models, but there is not an official recall. It is a known issue by Honda that gas gets in to the oil panel and dilutes the oil with gas. This is both a safety and mechanical issue that needs fixed. This is a safety issue as had our car misfired at higher speed this could have easily caused an accident with the amount of lost control of the vehicle. This will also assuredly effect the life of the vehicles engine as oil is diluted by gas. The dealership was not forthcoming with information regarding this known issue by Honda of gas getting into the oil tank and causing stalling and misfires issues just as what happened to us. It was not until we told them we found information on it ourselves did they recognize it. We were informed by the dealership that our particular VIN had already had the update and fix that was suggested by Honda for this issue. If that is the case, then it did not remedy our vehicle, and this is still a safety issue Honda needs to rectify with its customers.

Engine rev up and down, then stalling and shuts off.

I have owned this vehicle 1 yr and a few months and have had to have the computer system wiped out and the software reinstalled more than 2x due to �problem� dash lights all of the sudden scrolling;road departure mitigation system problem, electric brake system problem, brake hold system problem, tire pressure monitor problem, emissions system problem, electric parking brake problem, power steering system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, ect. The vehicle was involved in a fender bender in the middle of all this chaos, but the problems started shortly after I bought it in may2019. At one time the computer would clear itself out and I could ride around for a day or two without all these lights flashing. That is no longer the case. These scrolling problem lights occur after I've been driving down the road but now they come on immediately when I turn on the vehicle. Prior to this and months ago, when I was rounding a corner on the freeway all the sudden the brake assist engaged as if I was too close to a vehicle in front of me. It was quite a jolt. The first time this occurred was October/November. 2019. This evening I got my oil changed and the mechanic found gas in my oil; I mentioned a gas odor last winter to the dealership when I took it in for oil change. They basically blew it off. No doubt about it now. In fact I even saved some of the oil that came out of the engine to show my husband when he gets home. I have used two different dealerships thus far because of workmanship issues at the first dealership. Now dealership number two does not even want to touch my vehicle.

I was driving my Honda Cr-v on a city street all off sudden the low tire pressure and brake system failure came on and the car just stalled and won't start. Once I got off the car, the locked and I couldn't unlock the door anymore. I towed it home as the dealership was closed for the day. Now the lights come on and the dash lights up and I can't turn it off.

Car has stalled numerous times when accelerating. If it does not fully stall then it pauses and accelerates. I took the vehicle to a mechanic who found no code problems with it at all. I need assistance as I feel it is a recall issue.

2018 Honda crv mileage 20,165. Upon accelerating while pulling the car on main roadway, the car dropped from 50mph to 25mph and then wouldn't reach past 35mph, the engine light appeared and started to blink. Pushing the gas pedal only aggravated the situation. About a mile later the car stopped/stalled trying to go up a hill. I turned off car, waited 10 min and restarted. Was able to go another 1 mile to home, I did not attempt to go over 25 mph, because engine light was still blinking. The next morning, I drove the car to the dealer, but made sure I did not go over 30mph, as I did not want it to stall. During the drive the engine light was still blinking. Waiting to hear back. From the dealer. I believe this is a powertrain issue that has been documented by Honda and all 2017/2018 crvs have been recalled in china and europe, but not the us.

2016 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regard to vehicle failure to start then stalls, and also intermittent engine hesitation.

I was driving car on city street about 40 miles hours, tried to accelerate twice , car started slowing down . The third time I tried to accelerate. The car finally begin to accelerate. The second time was driving on city street and went to yield right of was before making a right turn . I slowed to yield then accelerated the car stalled as it was stopped. I tried to accelerate again and then the care accelerated slowly. Another car came through red light and was right on my bumper when my car stalled. This is very dangerous.

My problem with my Honda crv happens first thing in the morning but intermittent. So when backing the car out of garage it will feel like it's gonna to stall or shake sometimes stalls car or almost stalls. I have taken the car to dealer but unable to duplicate problem. My first time to dealer and told them of problem was told Honda was aware of problem and I would be contacted once they had a fix. I'm still waiting. I also bought to other dealerships and no luck. Hello, I have 3 concerning issues. 1. My car stall from time to time. It does not seem to accelerate while driving. 2. My side mirror blind spot sometimes does not work and falsely goes off. 3. Afraid this car will catch on fire! engine oil is getting diluted with fuel due to the turbo engines on the 2017 -2018 Honda crvs. I notified stevenson hendrick Honda in December 2018 of a fuel smell in cabin of car while driving and an mil (malfunction error came up & all safety features were disabled until I cut car off at next stop and restarted. Dealership checked the car on 12/24/18 and said nothing was wrong. Contacted dealership again due to fuel smell in cabin & we had checked oil & the dipstick reaked of fuel & was way over the high mark. Took car on 8/10/19 and I made service manager tony check oil in front of me to verify fuel was in it. They said they changed computer module and did some updates to fix & told me to bring it back on 8/1/717 at 8;00 for install of spark plugs they ordered. Drove 40 miles back home and fuel was already in the oil again! called dealership back to let them know I want the oil/oil filter changed again on 8/17/19 when they do spark plugs and that we will continue to check oil in car. I contacted Honda as well & spoke to "cat". She wasn't helpful at all and refused to tell me why the software update notice they sent didn't say anything about fuel dilution in the oil. It only referred to error codes & whirling noise in engine. The dealership said this problem has only been happening in "cold weather regions" and that I am the first they have heard of. I told them that if people don't check their oil or if the dealership doesn't tell the consumer when they change their oil that they wouldn't know they had a problem since it has not been disclosed to the consumers. This car scares me me & I'm afraid my engine will catch on fire from this issue!.

I was driving Saturday 27, 2019 about 9:00 am in the pulaski skyway in new jersey then all of the sudden all the display warning lights went on and off until the car stall and the engine just stop working but the warning lights( every single one) just kept going on and off. I couldn't do anything as you may know the pulaski skyway has not place to pull over, you can imagine the traffic jam that my broke down car cause. The weekend of the 07/21/2019 I had a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin and when I check the oil dipstick it was overfill and had the strong smell of gasoline I called the dealer planet Honda and they told me to bring my car to check on 07/25/2019, the same day the dealer called me and said that is nothing wrong with the car and the smell of gasoline and the overfill engine oil was normal. I have no confidence on driving my Honda crv anymore. I bought the car on 06/15/2019 with 5,300 miles on it.

Car has stalled when in motion. Stalling happened once on highway, 2-3 other times on secondary roads. It feels like car "misses a beat" then strugles to reignite. Engine did not stop completely. At times there has been a smell of gas in the car when in motion.

The motor stalls when making pulling away from a dead stop. I have noticed this in particular when making a turn from a dead stop. It has almost got me hit a few times and this has happened numerous times. I contacted my dealer when this first happened and they said it needed a software update which they did, it didn't fix the problem. It doesn't do it all the time as it is sporadic but when it does do it it makes it very dangerous when making a turn and oncoming traffic is coming towards me. Honda will not address this issue with this vehicle for me.

The engine oil level increases as the car is driven. Changed oil after 7500 mile interval, and the used oil was 1. 2 quarts more than when first installed. Oil is being diluted.

The car stalls while moving slowly in reverse. This is dangerous in two ways. Way one, while moving in reverse the car stalls, and thus I stop moving when I and the people around me thought I would continue. The second way is I often end up reversing more quickly when I feel the car beginning to stall, this keeps the car from stalling but causes me to move in reverse faster than I would like to. This usually happens when the car is started from a cold start (after sitting overnight). . This issue has been happening to me for at least half a year. Not every time I start the car, but at least once a week. I bought the car new in June 2015. Also in general the car shudders significantly while idling in drive. I fear that soon the car may start stalling in drive as well while it is idling. Many people report these same issues online, and a recall should be done before the problem gets worse as the cars age.
