1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/27/2021

For the past few months all of my warning lights come on. They will go off at times, other times I have to pull over to restart my car. In addition, my display will go dim or get very bright on it's own. On February 27, 2021 my alarm started to go off for no reason. They car was parked in my driveway and no one was near the remote. I could not get the alarm to go off, no matter what I did. On Monday, March 1st I went to start my car and it would not start or respond to anything with the remote. I contacted the dealership, valley Honda in monroeville, PA. They stated that it could be the battery having low voltage. The dealership is over 45 minutes away and I needed a vehicle to help care for my ill father so I purchased a new battery and installed it late Monday night. As soon as I started the vehicle all of the dashboards lights started flashing and the alarm would randomly go off. This continued until I could get it to the dealership on weds night. They diagnosed it as a body control module. My car is only 4 years old with 50k mileage but the Honda warranty is out. I even called Honda who only offered a courtesy partial payment, as long as I did not pick up my vehicle until they finished their investigation. There is absolutely no reason for my display to have been acting up or a need to replace a bcm with a vehicle that is only 4 years old!.

2 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/10/2021

For 2 days (fri/sat) when remotely locking doors, the doors would lock but there was no lights or beep indicating the doors were locking. Checked menus to ensure the feature was on, it was. On Sunday, stopped for fuel, fueled up, vehicle would not start while at the pumps. Clicking noise and multiple lights on dash. Error messages: "electric parking brake problem", "brake system problem", "tire pressure low" among others appeared. I could not deactivate the parking brake. Quick google search showed a jump start would remedy the situation, which it did. Replaced original battery (3 years old) however, when remotely locking the vehicle, the vehicle lights are still not flashing and no beep is heard. Will be making appointment at dealership, but based on past performances of dealerships, not hopeful a cause or solution will be found. I have found Honda dealerships are quick to point blame to the driver for an issue.

5 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/13/2020

As of may 13, I havehad to return my leased 2017 Cr-v to the dealership four (4) times for the same reason - the battery would not work , hence the engine did not start. These breakdowns occurred at : 9573 miles, 9993 miles, 17315 miles and most recently 21,703 miles. Each event occurred while the auto was turned off. This has cost undue hardship. With the most recent event, I was verbally told the problem is my fault - since I do not drive the vehicle enough !!! I should invest in something called a " trickle charger " and plug the vehicle in during the evening hours !!! quite incredible! I more then once loudly voiced my concerns. The basic attitude has been " you're on your own buddy "!!! hopefully, the dealership will be cautioned to avoid falsehoods and to level with its customer. My wife and I are both senior citizens . We are attempting to navigate the virus epidemic as best we can! we had to drive another vehicle to the dealership to pick up our " tainted " leased product without so much as an apology. Quite incredible ! my computer is quite elderly - hence I cannot forward documentation but I can certainly mail such. Please feel free to contact me for much more information concerning this faulty product.

7 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/30/2020

2017 Honda crv parked in garage, when attempting to start engine dash lights up warnings on braking system, cruise control, lane assist, battery and many other areas. Car would not start and goes dead with 3rd attempt to start. This is the 3rd time I must have car towed to dealership; car has 4,000 miles. Dealership states that they cannot recreate this intermittent critical failure and I should buy a new car. This car is unreliable and a hazard. Even though I paid thousands of dollars when I bought it new, for extra extended warranty, repair & maintenance plans, dealership tell me nothing is wrong with this car.

8 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/25/2020

Vehicle dashboard gave multiple warnings while in motion on the highway; the Honda sensing system no longer functioned at this time. Took to nearby independent mechanic who narrowed malfunction to ecm. Took car to dealer who replaced vsa modulator. After approximately 30 days, vehicle would not start; engine starts but shuts back off immediately. Vehicle was towed to dealer; body control module was replaced.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/24/2019

My 2017 Honda began displaying multiple warning messages which would cause the function for the message to be disabled. Example, cruise control, not working, hill assist not working and all messages would display and nothing working. Usuall the next day the messages would clear and function return. It got more frequent and ultimately did not clear, stayed on constantly. Then one day while traveling on a busy interstate highway the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate, before I was able to get to the shoulder of the road I narrowly avoided being struck in the rear by a semi truck and trailer barreling down on me. I did make it off and turned the ignition off waited a short while and restarted the motor. There was a new message in the display "vehicle emission problem" . I pulled onto the road and was able to make it home. This was the weekend and the following Monday I called the local Honda dealership and scheduled a service appointment. I took the car in and explained what had happened. I waited in the lobby and shortly the service rep told me parts needed to be ordered and I would notified when they came so my car could be repaired, I was also told it would be covered under warranty. A few days I was called and took the car in for repair. I waited and later was told my car was ready. I left and all seemed well until the next day when I was driving to work, all the alarms displayed and the functions in alarm did not work. The car also went into limp mode again and I had to pull over. I called the dealership and was told to bring the car back in. The next morning while going to work the car again lost power and stopped. All the alarms were up including emission system problem, the car would not restart. I called the dealership and told them what happened and I had the car towed in. A loaner car was provided. This was christmas eve.

11 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

Three potentially serious electrical issues are summarized: twice in the last month while highway driving the instrument panel quickly flashed the following warning messages: 1) adaptive cruise control (acc) problem; 2) road departure mitigation system problem; 3) collision mitigation system problem; 4) brake system problem. Drivability was not affected at the time, though the messages caused immediate concerns about what caused these to appear for no apparent reason while driving. Weather and roads were clear. I had to pull over and restart the vehicle, which cleared the error displays and instrument panel returned to normal operation. While driving (city and highway) the vehicle brightness control on the info screen will randomly start to beep and flash repeatedly. The screen cycles between dark and various info displays while the audio system keeps playing. The touchscreen controls on the screen are non-responsive when this happens. Stopping and restarting the vehicle restores the display to normal. This occurs while the car is in motion with no particular reasons for the abnormal behavior. This situation with the display has reoccurred more than a dozen times since I purchased the car (Dec 2017). The most recent occurrence happened near the end of a 600-mile driving day. Yesterday the car would not start, battery issue was determined to be the likely problem after placing a service assist call to Honda. A jump start and problem was resolved. Mileage approx. 19,000. This is the second time this occurred since owning the car. The first time it happened within a couple of months of owning the car. In both instances, the car had been parked less than 2 hours. Parking brake was not set in either case.

12 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/24/2019

All electronics started to fail, steering jammed, lost control of vehicle. Service center diagnosed problem to broken power steering motor. Vehicle was in motion entering a highway. Aug 24th 2019. Electronic brake failure and car wouldn't start - Sep 11, 2019.

13 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/28/2019

About six months after I bought the car, the car would not start. During this time, the car would make a cranking sound but would not catch. It took several tries of me pushing the start button for the car to start. That day I brought it to Honda and Honda told me it was a bad battery so they replaced it. Three months later the same issue happened except this time the car would not start. I had the car towed to Honda and they said it was a bad battery and replaced it. This continues to happen every three-six months however Honda is no longer replacing the battery as they cannot duplicate the issue. There are no lights being left on in my car. I do not have an alarm system. The car will be parked over night and in the morning or early afternoon it will not start or take several tries of me pushing the start button for it to start. It will make a cranking sound when it tries to start but will not catch or takes several tries. Honda has acknowledged there is an issue with the car starting for the 2015 crv model but stated they do not know how to fix it.

14 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Brand new vehicle with barely 450 miles turned off out of nowhere. All possible dashboard faults were displayed and car wouldn't start. Brakes got locked at some point and couldn't push car away from road. Many customers have already encountered this issue and Honda is aware but claims that they dont have any bulletins or recalls. It is a safety issue to be driving this car. Car has been at the dealership for 3 days now and mechanics/technicians can not find the problem. Honda dealership where vehicle was purchased shows lack of interest on helping me. Honda dealership where car was taken keeps working on the issue. Vehicle wont start. Three days at the dealership now.

15 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/11/2019

After sitting in vehicle with radio playing on accessory for 20 minutes the vehicle would not start requiring a boost from aaa. After returning home and in my driveway I checked the voltage on the battery with the engine off and it read 12. 31. I started the vehicle and the voltage read 13. 22 after a few seconds it went down to 12. 25 indicating it wasn't charging. I turned on the headlights and the reading jumped to 14. 11 and remained there about until I turned the lights off whereupon it returned to the lower part of 12 volts.

20 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

My car is less than 39,000 miles and I had to change all four tires which were giving me issues since I purchased less than 2 years ago. January 3rd my car would not start. Jan 4th and 5th again my car would not stop without a jump. I have had nothing but electrical problem, radio blinking and not coming on or brake system engaging without braking etc. Since I have purchased. I have only taken to Honda dealers only to be told issues not covered by warranty and no explanation why I need new tires and new batter with a car less than twp years and under 39,000 miles. There are many complaints regarding batteries and electrical problems and my 2017 car is among them.

21 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/21/2018

On 12/21/18, I went to start the vehicle and it started flashing all kinds of alerts on the dashboard. The car would not start. Door locks, tailgate would not close via remote or or by pressing the buttons for these functions. No indication that the lights were left on. 2 hours prior the car started without issue. Tow was requested. Tow truck driver gave the battery a jumpstart and told me to leave the car running for 30 minutes while the system reset. The system did not reset. Dashboard alerts for tpms problem, brake system problem, brake hold problem and vehicle stability assistance problem continued to flash. The vehicle was parked at home in driveway from the previous evening. We moved it forward two hours prior to allow space to roll out or trash cans for garbage collection. The vehicle was purchase on July 30th 2018 and has 8322 miles on it. Never expected to have an issue of this sort with a brand new vehicle. Grateful that it shutdown at home rather than on the highway.

22 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/14/2018

Alarm will go off randomly. Clicking lock/unlock on the key fob does not turn the alarm off. Inserting the key into the door was the only way to turn the alarm off. The message "keyless start system problem" was displayed on the dash when I entered the car. I turned my car on, but when trying to turn the car off, there were clicking noises, the dash flickered repeatedly, and the car would not turn off. It took about 15 minutes of clicking the push start/stop button to get the car to turn off. It was towed to Honda (tow truck driver had trouble getting the car onto the bed because all of the safety braking features were randomly activating) and Honda replaced some wiring and said I was good to. Two days later the car wouldn't start. Had it towed to Honda again and they said it was a bad battery. They replaced the battery and sent me on my way. The next day the alarm went off again, same issue with not being able to turn it off, and the same keyless start system problem was on the dash. I started the car, then turned the car off, went into the house, and the alarm went off again 15 minutes later. I disconnected the battery and will take it back to Honda tomorrow. Note, when I popped the hood to disconnect the battery, the electricity turned back on in the car by itself. I now suspect the electricity is turning on by itself and after sitting idle for a while the alarm activates.

23 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/27/2018

Two items of concern to report: door locks - back passenger side door will no longer lock and once the car is in motion, the doors will automatically lock and unlock for several minutes. When in park, the back door remains unlocked even after the doors have been secured. - major security / safety issue - children in the back of the car renders child locks useless. Car will not start / shuts off in motion: I have had 4 total instances (2) of each in the past month. When pulling into a parking space at slow speed, the instrument panel flashes and the car dies. The car will not turn over when trying to turn on. Finally started once car was put into neutral - computer completely resets - have to enter radio code. Second instance - driving at 60 mph on highway, instrument panel flashes and car dies - then comes back on while driving. Major issue!!.

24 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/16/2016

Battery discharges frequently (car will not start) beginning when less than three years old, new battery same problem. Happens randomly. Dealer could not find problem (even though it happened once in their shop). Not related to frequent short trips (dealer suggestion) as we tracked occurrence with different trip lengths with same unpredictable results. Keeping battery on charger daily seems to help, but must be done daily or else problem reoccurs. Problem happens after shutting vehicle off and restarting -- can be after short stop (shopping) or overnight (in garage). Clearly there is a defect -- short?; relay? have heard of others with similar problem same make and model but different years. Honda dealer has been no help and now vehicle is off warranty.

25 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/27/2016

Vehicle failed to start once in first year gradually increased to 1 weekly. Dealer check could find 0 twice-can't find, can't fix. Now w/60400 mi must jump for any start since dealer tested it this week. Dlr wants to do full diagnostic 2nd time at my expense. Waste of time going nowhere. Honda inc says work w/ dealer which says can't find problem and it's your problem. I can't trade it like it is. Have had 9 new accords since 1978 w/ no major problems. Established loyalty to Honda not considered. In my case. Disappointed!.

34 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Front passanger door lock will briefly unlock then on its own lock itself. You have to force the door lock open just to get out and once the lock opens it slowly locks itself. The key fob and lock switch will briefly unlock the latch. (we do have factory installed alarm). My wife also noticed dome light no longer coming on (might just be dead bulb). This could be a huge issue in an accident if passenger or emergency personal are unable to open door due to lock always locking itself. A lot of force is needed to unlock the door. It seems like the door actuator is getting a lock signal and staying in the locked position. Again you can momentarily manually force the door lock open and with the switch/keyfob. Recent repairs: we did recently replace the car battery because the car lost electrical power (car would not start). We also just replaced the ac/heater blower motor because when the hvac was powered on we heard very loud whirling/clicking noise. We also just changed all four struts because they were leaking but no electrical was touched during this repair.
