I owned my 2017 Honda crv for 2 years with ~43000 miles on it. Feb 28th 2020 I got the emission control error or check engine light, its steady light not blinking, while driving on the highway. I did not have it service recently or filled gas. A car with 43k miles has emission issues just seems poor design.
Honda 2000 crv check engine light went on. Car was running and idling rough. I found out that TSB 03-038 (technical service bulletin) had been issued for all Honda crv's from 1999-2001. This defect concerns a defective cylinder head that causes the valves to recede into the head. When I contacted Honda north America regarding my 2000 Honda crv they denied responsibility for this defect since my vehicle was out of warranty.

On 11/24/04 I was driving on a major interstate when my engine and battery lights suddenly came on. I felt as if my breaks were not going to work. I pulled off at the nearest exit trying to get to a safe place to assess the situation. As I got off the exit, smoke began to billow into the car from the vents. A man approached me from behind and informed me my car was on fire. I didn't realize it until that moment. Apparently, it had been shooting flames out from the front wheel wells. My car had about 15,000 miles on it at the time. My oil change was four months earlier with no signs of any oil leaks prior to the fire. The fumes caused me to have an asthma attack, even after the fire was out and the car was towed to a Honda body shop. Because of the holiday, the insurance company will not look at the car until 11/29 or 30. I have no idea if it will be totaled or not. I'm concerned about residual effects from the fire affecting my respiratory problems. Further, I' m concerned about getting another 2004 vehicle that may present with the same problem. Or, even a 2005, if the problem will exist in that as well.

Please provide fax number so that I may forward detailed description.
Car skips and hesitates when accelerating between 35 & 50 mph. Has caused 3 near accidents mainly due to being startled. Vehicle is unreliable and unsafe. Honda has replaced computer and oxygen sensor without improving the poor performance. Honda now takes the official position of "this is a characteristic of this model". I have asked that they take me out of the vehicle and Honda has refused.
