Vehicle bought new in 2011 and only one owner. In early 2015, my vehicle went from having my oil changed between 5000 and 7000 miles to barely making it to 3000. Vehicle manufacture recommends synthetic oil and is the only type of oil that has ever been used for this vehicle. No oil was leaking form vehicle and no evidence of oil leakage under hood when checked. Oil changed multiple times with same result. Information was received from Honda regarding extension on warranty due to possible high oil consumption & was stated that oil consumption test could be completed at Honda dealership. Honda dealership began test in October 2015 and was completed in February 2016. . 8 quarts used after first 1000 miles, 1quart used after 2000miles and . 8quarts after 3000miles. After each check, 1 quart oil was added by Honda dealership. After third check, I was told by service manager that this did not Honda specifications to warrant rebuild to correct problem in engine causing high oil consumption. Was told that this was not normal but vehicle was still safe to drive. In fall 2016, I contacted dealership again regarding issue & also had two lights (check engine light & traction light) come on at the same time. Honda agreed to complete another oil consumption test & check lights. Was told that timing chain had been stretched and needed to be replaced. Honda service manager would not confirm that timing chain was stretched due to high oil consumption even though research & other mechanics suggest otherwise. Honda corporation was contacted multiple times & will not comply with returning calls, answering questions, etc. Different answers are given from different people within Honda (Honda corporation & dealership). Was told that car should not be driven until timing chain fixed, but oil consumption test can not be done if vehicle not driven?.

In August of 2015 Honda issued a warranty extension notification for sticking piston rings resulting in high engine oil consumption. In 2015 I began to add oil in-between required oil changes and reported the condition to manchester Honda in July. The rate is approximately 1qt/2,500 miles. Honda agrees this is 'abnormal' but that the rate does not meet the 'excessive' consumption required to be covered under the warranty extension notification. That rate is not documented anywhere and reported to be 1qt/1,000 miles. For 'customer satisfaction' Honda has agreed to fix the problem charging me $1,000. I object to this offer as I paid for a normal car and see no reason to pay addition money to make the car normal - I paid for and expect a normal car. The word argument - abnormal vs. Excessive - Honda has forwarded does not impress me. The warranty notification states ". . . High engine oil consumption", that is exactly what I am experiencing. Whether it is abnormal or excessive is a philosophical discussion Honda can have internally. The facts: my car is exhibiting high engine oil consumption; Honda agrees the consumption is abnormal and in 2015 issued a warranty extension notification acknowledging the 2010 Cr-v models potentially have a sticking piston ring resulting in high oil consumption. Calling an offer to pay a second time for the normal car I purchased does not, in my mind, amount to customer satisfaction. Together the terminology excuse Honda has presented, the hollow customer satisfaction offer and lack of support from the entire Honda service team adds to my anger and frustration. My request is to have Honda perform whatever repairs necessary to yield the product I purchased - a normal car that does not exhibit high engine oil consumption.

We purchased a Honda certified vehicle in Jan 2015. After 4,000 miles the oil light flashed on periodically. We checked the oil and the dipstick was dry. I added two quarts of oil, it still showed only half on the dip stick and we took it to Honda. They charged us for an oil change and said they needed to do a consumption test. After two 1,000 miles consumption checks, it was burning a quart of oil in each check. The last check, we took a picture of the dipstick after sitting overnight before we took it to Honda. It was a quart low and the service department told us that it was barely low. They lied to us. They also told us this is normal consumption. We called Honda directly and can't seem to get anyone to listen to us.
Our 2011 Honda crv is using 1. 4qts of oil per 1,325 miles. We have had it to the dealer 3-4 times checking for leaks and cracks and found nothing and stated that this within normal Honda ranges in oil consumption. The dealer finally did an oil consumption test on the vehicle and asked Honda corporate if they would cover the repairs to replace the pistons and rings under the 8 year, 100,000 mile exteneded warranty that Honda has purposed as a "fix. " corporate denied the dealer's request to fix the repair under the warranty. I called corporate myself and the case manager took the information down, but was denied again by the same executive that talked to the dealer with the same response. I questioned the "warranty" and stated that if it was a true warranty, they would correct the problem. My guess is that they don't have a fix for this issue and they chose the route of ignoring the problem. This is unacceptable for a 4 year old vehicle to keep adding oil at the owner's expense and just plain frustrating!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle was burning oil. The contact stated that the vehicle started burning at 58678 miles. The contact dealer had the contact do an oil consumption test and it was detemrined that the psitons rings and v-tec atuator needed to be replaced. The current mileage was 66000. Rl.
High engine oil consumption - my car ran out of oil in 2014, the red light came on and I added 4 qts of oil. This was between oil changes with "20% oil life" still indicated in the car. I reported it to Honda and not until they sent me the warranty extension required by the court order did anything happen. Then they (mcgrath Honda elgin IL) made me bring the car back 4 times for the oil consumption test. They told me the test would only take 3 trips. Even though it continues to burn oil (1qt per 800-1000 miles) they deny a problem.
The engine is consuming excessive oil. To my calculations (and through an abbreviated oil consumption test through dealer), the vehicle is burning 1/2 a quart of oil every 1000 miles (no leaks). Before noticing between oil changes the car would go almost dry between changes. The oil light would flicker on and then go off, even though there was less than a quart of oil in the car. The dealer claims having to add 1/2 quart to 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles is considered normal consumption. Honda of America claims the same. Honda of America had no answer for me as to why the oil light did not remain on when car was running very low on oil. Honda of America also has no answer as to why if this is considered normal consumption there is nothing in the maintenance manual to warn the conumer that they may want to check their oil between oil changes. They will take no ownership or responsibity for the situation.
My Honda is rapidly burning oil daily. I am obligated to check and fill my oil daily to avoid any damage to my engine.
The 2010 Honda Cr-v was not driving properly, felt like the transmission was slipping/shaky. The oil light came on, so I took it to the dealer (less than 70,000 miles). It was almost out of oil, even though I had been properly maintaining service since buying the vehicle new in April, 2010. The Honda dealer serviced the car. I went back shortly after service because we checked the oil and it was low again. They started 'oil consumption' tests. It was down a bit every 1,000 miles but they kept saying it was in the 'normal' range and that it is not unusual to need to add oil between oil changes (I have owned cars for 30+ years and this is the first car that ever need additional oil between changes). I kept taking it in for consumption issues. They would check the oil, top it off, and tell me it was 'normal'. The service person said the service manager presented it to the regional Honda service, but they said it was 'normal' too. I started topping off the oil myself as the dealership is a bit of a drive and I wasn't getting anywhere with the complaints. At 86,000 miles, the check engine light came on. I took it to an Acura dealership. They serviced the car and reset it. Light came on again 3 weeks later. It needs a new catalytic converter @$1,100. Bought Honda care extended warranty at dealer with car, but it doesn't cover the part. Honda is telling me the car is out of warranty and the Honda care warranty is not a Honda warranty, but 3rd party and they don't control it. I'm out $2,300 for the useless warranty and appealing to Honda to replace the catalytic converter. I strongly believe there is a connection between the oil consumption (which the Honda dealer said is not a problem with Cr-vs) and the need for a new catalytic converter at 86,000 miles.
My 2003 Honda Cr-v began having trouble keeping oil levels normal for the past year or so. I requested that Honda check out the issue a couple of times; Honda was never able to find any issues (I. E. , the car was not burning oil or leaking oil anywhere). Last week while I was driving, my car abruptly dies in the middle of the street. The timing chain had jumped four notches and bent the valves. According to my extended warranty (even though I have proven that I have performed all of the necessary maintenance) I am responsible for the damages to this car. I find it lucky that I was not driving on the freeway when this happened, since my car so abruptly stopped. I am curious if others are having similar problems with their 2003 Honda Cr-vs.

'recall campaign' consumer received recall for srs cable reel and Cr-v shift cable update. The valve cover gasket was leaking in the right front corner of the vehicle. There were many occasions in which the vehicle would have no oil. The vehicle would burn oil every 500 miles or less. The consumer requested a new engine or a new vehicle due to her fear that oil may drip and cause the vehicle to catch fire. The problem remained the same.
The consumer noticed oil leaking from the vehicle. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Oil was burnig every 500 miles.
