The engine started making a knocking sound in q1 of 2020. A tech stated that the sound happens because of the low oil level in the engine. I had noticed the knocking sound especially when driving up or down at an angle and also on turns. The dealership performed several oil consumption tests and the knocking persisted. In q3 of 2020, the dealership replaced the vtec thinking this would be the fix. Then in January 2021, when the oil indicator was at 35%, the knocking began again. The dealership opened up the engine and found that the spark plugs, pistons and piston rings are all fouled, and that oil has seeped into these engine parts. Honda corporate has offered to pay for a portion but not all of the repair cost which is $5400. They have not offered to extend the warranty to 8 years and 125,000 miles which is what was provided to cars in the offer for 2010-2011 crvs and 2011 accords were given by Honda according to a may 15, 2015 article for this same defect. Class action lawsuit - similarly a class-action lawsuit concerning this same defect was settled in 2013 covering several Honda models. Plaintiffs were alex soto and vince eagen with u. S district judge susan illston in san francisco. Honda agreed in the settlement to extend the powertrain limited warranty for up to 8 years. Just purchased a 2018 Honda touring crv with 300 miles that I purchase and there's only three days old the vehicle has problems accelerating and has loud knocking noises from the engine. My oil looks to be over filled and I am smelling gasoline I believe on the oil cap. The noise has gotten more louder over the past few days that I have been driving my vehicle. My main concern is the feeling of loss power when I am driving.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that there was a strong odor of fuel inside the vehicle and a knocking noise was heard coming from the engine. The engine oil was checked and there was evidence of fuel on the engine oil dipstick. The vehicle was taken to Honda world (located at 1 autocenter dr, louisville, ky 40299, (502) 398-6398) and the engine oil was replaced. The contact was informed by the service manager that the manufacturer was aware of the engine oil and fuel dilution in similar vehicles. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 4,452.

While driving from my home I got to a toll booth and after paying the toll placed my foot on the accelerator and the car simply revved as if it was in neutral with rpms varying indiscriminately. Suddenly the car jerked forward with a loud bang and moved normally I pulled to the shoulder and checked fluids and for signs of any problems. We received no dashboard warning lights. We continued our trip but the car would not shift between 3rd and 4th gear and we couldn't maintain speed. Suddenly the incident at the toll both repeated itself. I shut the car down although temperature was ok as was oil pressure. After a short wait we resumed driving and the car performed normally for about 50 miles and then it was back to no shift or long duration before shift and then a banging noise. We got to our destination and car was parked for about 3 hours. After starting the car and placing it in drive I had a hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear I was making a left hand turn and the failure to accelerate put us in danger of a rear impact collision. I called Honda but it was not something they would even talk about over the phone. We continued on our return trip and wre cruising at the 70 mph limit in the middle lane on I 75 in florida when suddenly the transmission dropped out of gear going into a neutral mode the engine rpms were moving all over the place. I was slowing down and attempting to get to the shoulder. After getting to the shoulder I cycled through all the transmission positions and could achieve 3rd gear but it would go in and out of 4th gear. When these conditions occurred I did not feel I was in control of the vehicle nor safe. I have never had a problem with this vehicle before however I am being told that it is a problem on multiple models of Hondas. I am a trained, certified, accident ,engineer reconstructionist ( mostly large vehicles and urban buses ).

I bought a new 2011 Honda cr v and have a serious safety issue. The engine maintained its speed or accelerated on four separate occasions when I applied the brake and tried to stop. The worst incident occured when I tried to come to a stop at a red light with cars in front of me. I applied brake and car stopped but engine raced. I had to apply very strong pressure to brake to hold car in place. Engine was racing and car was pulling forward. I shifted to neutral, engine continued to race and then I heard a loud knocking sound come from engine like a washing machine makes when it is out of balance. I was very scared. I turned engne off and then at green light turned engine on and it was ok. This happened four separate times when the car had just over 200 miles on it, just over 400 miles, 723 miles, and 819 miles. I did not have my foot on both gas and brake, the mats are the Honda mats that come with car and are fastened to the floor and were not on the gas. This really happend, very scary. Reported to Honda and took car in twice. Honda said there were no codes and the brakes looked ok. They said to call american Honda which I did. I reported it as a serious safety issue. Honda said someone would get in touch with me the next day. Its been a week and no one has contacted me. I have owned the car for 40 days and driven it less than 850 miles and this has hppened four times and been in the shop twice. Honda says they cannot reproduce and that I should just let them know when it happens again. They have not tested anything with the idle or the throttle sticking are not concerned with my safety.
