On December 22, 2019 I was headed to church on a four-lane highway and heard the sound coming from the engine, a loud metal to metal sound and the vehicle died. I was able to restart the car and pulled off the road and had car hauled to dealership where I purchased the vehicle and where I had it maintained. I had the vehicle hauled over to dealership on a trailer to avoid driving it. After the dealership investigated, they found that the oil to the engine was blocked but couldn't determine what blocked the oil. Hearing metal to metal it could have been shavings from the metal rubbing together. It is January 9, 2020 and I am still without a my car. They replaced the engine and had it ready on Saturday, January 5, 2020. However, when I drove off in it, the engine was roaring. So, I took it right back and left it once again. They called me on Monday, January 6, 2020 and said my car was ready once again. I went back to dealership in which I work in 53 mile away. I test drove it and the roaring sound was still there. They (the service department) thought it was the tires so they rotated the tires and still heard the roaring sound. They decided it was the wheel bearing. Wheel bearings should not go out in a 2018 vehicle. I felt the roaring was still in the engine. I will hopefully pick my car up on Friday, January 10, 2020 in hopes the roaring sound is gone. I believe this issue is related to the issue the 2017 and 2018 Honda crv owners are experiencing with the oil. Nevertheless, a 2018 Honda touring should not have all these issues. I am an unhappy customer and now I feel the value of my car is depreciated.

My 2017 Honda crv-touring was just about 10k & recently, when turning on ac while running, engine is making very loud noise. It was not supposed to be built in this way for top of the line of crv model. Since my car is under manufacturer warranty such that I want it to be checked to defect the issue.

Dear: NHTSA I purchase a 2017 Honda crv-ex with 1. 5-liter turbo earth dream engine. During the past 6 months I've been having the following problems with my Honda crv-ex. Gas smell in the passenger compartment, the oil smell like gas, rising oil levels, car making horrible noises, stalling, loss of power and the heaters doesn't work at all in cold weather. I first notice these problems 6 months ago. A friend of mine who previously worked at Honda says that the problem of fuel mixing with oil stems from one or two causes: improperly designed fuel injectors that spray fuel directly onto the cylinder walls or the engine not heating up enough to vaporize gasoline left over in an engine cylinder. Either could cause fuel to mix with the oil, diluting it and making it less effective at protecting an engine's moving parts and over time could seriously damage the engine. My biggest concern is premature engine failure due to the lubrication fuel & oil dilution. Honda corporation had knowledge of the turbo engine defects that cause fuel to enter the engine oil, damaging the bearings, engine permanently and did absolutely nothing. I do not believe this is ethical at all for Honda corp. To continue to sell 2017 & 2018 crv with turbo engine to the consumer knowing the problems could endanger the public safety. It is neither safe nor prudent driving these vehicles. My trust in Honda reliability was crushed when I notice after my 2nd oil change the color was black, thin as water and smell like gasoline after only 10,000 miles. Honda corp. Had to recall 130,000 of its popular Cr-v SUV models and 294,500 civic cars from china earlier this year. Recently it's been reported Honda stopped all sales of crv's in china. Honda acknowledges the problem but has not released any resolution aside from free oil changes. My engine has already incurred premature wear.
At an idle position, vehicle starts to vibrate, make a loud noise and starts revving excessively (went from 800 to 2,000 rpms) all the time with my foot firmly on the brake pedal. This has occurred now on three different occasions, 3 times on 2/10/2017.

Vehicle makes a loud noise when starting in cold weather.
Vtc actuator makes an extremely loud noise and vibrates when starting vehicle. This is causing the timing chain to slip and chip\loose teeth. Also causes low or lack of oil pressure which causes the damage to the timing chain. Lose of oil pressure has caused cracks in the oil gasket as well. Honda has admitted that the vtc actuator is a defective part. However, Honda will not accept responsibly for replacement or repair of the vtc actuator or for any damage caused due to the defective part. This problem is wide spread and began with my vehicle in 2016. Repairs were made which only eliminated the noise and vibration. Oil pressure was restored for a very limited time and the oil gasket began to crack. With each oil change (completed at the appropriate recommended times) the oil was noticeably low.
Each time I start an engine when it still cold it has a rattle loudy noise. When Honda is going to recall for this issue?.

2015 Honda Cr-v: unusual vibration at stop with gear shift in drive mode and loud mum sound when driving between 15 to 25 mph similar to all other complaints on this 2015 model.
Loud noise on start-up all the time (doesn't matter if cold or hot). Took to dealer, peoria, IL - 12/30/2014 suspected vtc actuator. Dealer said could not duplicate, after I even recorded the noise. Brought back in April 2015, insisted they listen while I was there. Diagnosed vtc actuator. Said Honda had a tech bulletin, said they know about the problem but will not allow dealer to fix it. Told to check back again soon. I checked back over several months. Same answer. There is no fix, Honda knows about the problem. How can a manufacturer know there is a problem, and say they can't fix it. I can't resale the vehicle with this noise. The noise is very loud and embarrassing on every start up. Dealer refuses to fix or provide any solution. This seems to be a problem with different Honda vehicles, and consumers can't get the problem fixed.
The contact owns a 2012 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the engine failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to the conicelli Honda dealer located at 1100 ridge pike, conshohocken, PA 19428; (484) 533-2352 where it was diagnosed that a service bulletin needed to be updated and the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The contact also stated that when trying to start the vehicle it made an abnormal noise. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no outstanding service bulletin for this issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 50,920.
My vehicle makes a terrible sound under the hood upon starting when it is cold. I researched it online and discovered it is the vtc actuator valve (most likely). Took it to dealership, let it overnight so they would hear it after setting. They claim no noise upon starting it. I am concerned at some point engine parts are being damaged. The noise began within 2 months of ownership. Went to another Honda dealer, they said "Honda probably does know about this but there is no repair/recall order issued so they won't repair it. Car was purchased new.

A year ago I noticed at times a noise like I am trying to start the vehicle with it already running. The other day on initial start it made a louder noise. The best I can tell is a problem with the vtc actuator.
