After having the car serviced at the dealership (oil change) I went to have the tires rotated. On the drive home the car was pulling to the right very hard and I had to fight to keep the car on the road. Discussed the problem with the tire store and took the car back the next day. After numerous tire rotations nothing fixed the problem and the car was now straying to the left, if I made a left hand turn, on top of pulling to the right, if I made a right hand turn. Neither the dealership or the tire store had ever experienced this, nor did they know what the problem was. Then I had the mechanic, from the dealership, drive the car and he blamed it on the tire pressure being off 5 pounds in the front vs the rear. However, he had the car in service department for 20-25 minutes and I did not see what was done to the car. Then he explaned it was all fixed, it should drive normally and the tire pressure was the problem. The tires are not wearing evenly and I am on my second set. I rotate/balance them when required and keep all receipts. I was also told there was an oil leak in the front crank seal with no explanation as to why. My concern is the with the steering pulling so hard to the right and at issue is safety. The dealership could not explain why it was pulling either direction and blaming it on the tires and air pressure. I don't buy that at all. Now it drives straight down the road and does not pull. But what caused it to do this in the first place? will this happen again? is there a Honda recall and if not why?.

My Honda crv came with continental 225/65r17 102t tires, it has 28000 miles on it 2 years 2 mos later and the front tires are completely bald. The mechanic checked my alignment, the tires have been rotated, and they are evenly worn. I see there are many other complaints about this and I think you need to investigate- no one expects to have to replace tires so quickly and it is a dangerous situation.

2005 Honda Cr-v. Consumer states grinding noise and tire wall deterioration
the consumer stated when the tire wall deteriorated it pulled apart wedging between the axle rod and tire and was beginning to shred the tire. A month later, she noticed the plastic tire wall on the driver's side had also started to disintegrate and was breaking down in a similar fashion. In early July, while driving, the plastic front piece on the grill on the front of the vehicle came loose and starting flapping up and down.

Driving on the freeway the tire exploded (without running over anything). It blew off the bumper and the left-hand blinker. It also damaged the undercarriage of the car. Fortunately, no one was injured. The tire was on the rear of the driver side of the Honda crv (2001).
I have two new vehicles that are in need of new tires soon: vehicle #1: 2010 Honda Cr-v with 16k miles vehicle #2: 2010 Toyota tacoma truck with 14k miles. Both vehicles will need tires within 2-3k miles. This is wrong. When I buy the same brand tire new at the tire store they will sell me that same tire on each vehicle noted above with a warranty of up to 40k plus miles. Why is it when you buy a new car or truck the tires are junk and don’t last? this is a serious issue. How can the manufactures sell a vehicle with defective tires on it? when you know you can buy the same tire and have a longer wear life when purchase for an official tire dealer. I cannot believe no one in the government has addressed this issue. Please give me some feedback. Thanks, matthew leonard 614 nowlan rd binghamton,NY 13904.
My Honda crv 2009 with 15,300 miles began developing a roar in the right rear tire. I had the tires rotated and the roar moved to left front. I told the dealer it sounds like a tread separating, and his mechanic agreed. We were going on a long trip and (I was a mechanic for 40 years) I decided for safety reasons to replaced all four bridgestone dullers with goodyear.
2009 Honda Cr-v under 20,000 miles, tires are completely worn and need replacement. Wife is primary driver and had no idea how bad they were. No incidents, just anger over what could have happened. Dealer recommended replacing with the same tire. Naturally, more frustration.
Warning for tire signal came on dash indicating a problem with tire pressure (again). I went to a local tire dealer for air and pressure check only to be advised that all 4 of my yokohama tires hat one inch plus of dry rot. These tires are about one year old, have approx. 35,000 miles on them and my vehicle has an outstanding service record. Copies of receipts show that every 40,000 miles I purchased new tires. All work and all part purchases have been done 100% at Honda dealer-jack matia in elyria, ohio. The only service performed out of the dealer is twice a year detail service done at a reputable detail shop in westlake, ohio. Upon my contacting the dealer and visiting them, they could not explain how this could be missed and never witnessed "dry rot". The return/credit process with the dealer and tire rack (Honda's distributor) was an insult on top of having to purchase brand new tires and my choice, a different brand. I expressed my disappointment and anger to the general manager at the dealership and was insulted. Research on my end indicates that there is in fact documentation about the tires and dry rot and the I believe the dealer is just as accountable for the tires since they sold them and installed them for me and should have seen what is one inch and half on all of the tires. Pictures are available. No harm came to me or anyone else. However, I feel I am due compensation/refund for this purchase and this matter should be investigated to insure that no harm comes to anyone else that might have yokohama tires.
Purchased 2010 Honda crv. 2 tires are completely worn bare already at 18,100 miles. Rotated twice to comply with warranty procedures. . . No warranty on these tires at all. Completely inferior product. Not safe.
Vibration in steering system of car after installing 4 new bridgestone dueller 684 tires. Tires have been balanced 3 times but vibration continues. Checked lateral runout on tires and found it to vary from . 055 to . 070" while radial runout was found to be . . 060" to . 065". These reading were from 3 tires manufactured in tokyo plant in week 44 of 2009. A 4th tire manufactured in a mexico plant had very low lateral and radial runouts. Tire identification data is as follows: bridgestone dueller ht 684 dot emhbcek4409. (3 each) all tires still in use.
Purchased new Honda 2009 crv in July 2009. On may 2010 at 15k miles had to replace 2 rear tires due to premature wear (at my cost). Wear was not due to my neglect. Dealer tech claimed bad tires. Again on August 2010 at 20k miles(only 5k miles on new tire) had to replace one of the brand new tires!! . Service tech at dealer confirmed that tire was bad and had caused the shimmying and veering to the right of vehicle. Tire replaced by dealer these tire were bridgestone duellers. This problem has significantly been noted by other crv owners and confirmed by several dealers.
Defective tires.
The tires of my 2009 Honda crv were all replaced today after only 16,000 miles or about 14 months of using the car. The service advisor that help me told me that they had some customers come to the dealership that had less mileage (like 13k or 14k). I think there is wrong in the designed of the crv. My particular crv, the brake booster was replaced @6,868 miles or roughly 5 months on the road.
1st failure was tires in rear of the vehicle were worn on the inside causing the tire to deflate. Returned to the dealer asking them what happened. They blamed the tire manufacturer. Put new tires on had all the necessary dealer scheduled maintenance. Rotation ect. The new tires installed at 42,000 began to shimmy badly in the rear of the vehicle at 63,000 miles. Took the vehicle to a Honda dealer in FL and the tires had to be replaced in the rear because of the same wear as the 1st set. The rear suspension can not be adjusted to correct this problem. The solution was after market (not Honda mfg parts) with an adjustable arm. The camber can now be adjusted to make the vehicle safe to drive, the tires would have worn out in an area not easy to see an cause a blowout at high speed would be a real problem. Honda corp will not admit fault. I see many people on the internet with the same problem as I experienced. The extended vehicle ins. I purchased will not pay for this problem. They say Honda has modified this part and they will not pay. This should be a recall in my opinion because of the safety issue. I was lucky to have my tire failure occur at a slow speed. At 70 mpg it would have been bad and everyone would have blamed the tires. But the real problem is the vehicle's unable to adjust the alignment to stop abnormal tire wear. Honda and all the dealers are in denial of the problem.
I purchased my Cr-v as a certified used car with 7000 miles. The tire noise kept getting louder as the miles grew. By 18,000 miles I couldn't take it and went to the dealer. They said my tires were cupped and needed replaced. I put new tires on and had it aligned by the dealer. They could not get it in spec and replaced the rear springs. They aligned it, but I still had tire noise. Dealer said I bought cheap ($125/pc) tires . These tires are also now cupped so bad at 50,000 miles that I need to replace them, a 70k tire with only 30k on them. I also smell hot rubber on the rear passenger tire much like others have said, and only this tire. Coincidently this one is the cupped noise maker.
I have a 2007 Honda crv with 19000 miles on it. I recently took it in for inspection and was told that the tires(continental 225/65 r17) were dryrotted. I am 68 years old and have never had an automobile where the tires were dryrotted. There has to be something wrong when the tires on a 3 yr. Old vehicle, purchased new from Honda of turnersville, n. J. , are dryrotted. I have notified turnerville Honda and am awaiting a response. There was no accident. Just defective tires that can cause an accident.
2007 Honda Cr-v. Start making noise around 14,000 miles. Rear tires were cupped on outside. Went to the dealer and was stated that there is nothing wrong with the car. Came with continental tires, and service representative stated that those tires are cheap and he can sell me some better tires. This a problem related to a lot of Cr-v and civic models.
I am a loyal Honda owner on my third Honda, a 2007 crv. The crv came with oem tires, bridgestone dueler h/t to be specific. When I bought the car I told the dealer I did not want such poorly rated tires but was told there was no option to upgrade to better tires. I put up with these bad tires for 3 years with no problems until my luck ran out this year when my area received several snow storms. My first near-miss happened in December of 2009 I got stuck on a very minor patch of snow and my car narrowly avoided sliding backwards into a creek just behind me that was about 10' deep. I should have replaced the tires right then but failed to make the connection to the bad tires and blamed it on the road conditions. The second near-miss came this week when we got a major snowstorm and my brother's house lost power and heat. The day after the storm I tried to drive to my brother's house and rescue him and his family. I got just out of my driveway onto the snow covered street and right away got stuck. I was only able to move my car back into the driveway by throwing dirt under all the tires to get traction. I pulled back into the driveway and was afraid to try again for 2 days until the snow softened up a bit. Keep in mind that my crv is all wheel drive and the tires had less than 25,000 miles on them and were not worn out. In both cases the all wheel drive was useless and in both cases lives were at risk. I paid extra to get the all wheel drive version for just such occasions and I feel let down, to say the least. Today being the first time I could get to a main road (barely) I headed to the nearest tire shop to replace the horrible bridgestone h/t's with bridgestone alenza's, their highest rated tire for my vehicle. I am now able to drive in the same snow with no problem at all. Why is Honda allowed to put such poor tires on their cars, and why is bridgestone allowed to sell such poor tires?.
Both the left side oem tires on my Honda crv 2007 model blew up on me while changing lanes. I did not hit anything and have been rotating them as recommended by Honda (all the servicing on the vehicle were done at the Honda dealership where I bough the car). Luckily, I was on a local road at 40 mph so I could keep my car under control. I have looked at the forums and have found that many other 2007 crv customers are complaining about the abnormal wear on their oem (in my case continental) tires. I took the car to a Honda dealer who recommended that I should change all four tires- which cost me close to $1000. My car only had 29000 miles on it. Honda apparently blames the tire manufacturer and wants its customers to complain directly to the tire maker. This is absurd since thee are many components in the car that Honda did not make on its own. Does it expect the customer to locate the maker of each component to complain when things go wrong? this is Honda's problem and it should compensate its existing customers and take corrective steps for the new cars. There is the danger of people losing control of their cars if such an incident happens on a highway.
2008 Honda crv- two out of 4 bridgestone tires were down to the wear bars at 21k+ mileage and could not be rotated.
Where to start. I bought my new 2008 Honda crv in January of 2008. In February I has a low tire indicator light and brought it to my local garage for a tire check. Nothing wrong with the tires, but they put air in them. I have had the same problem without fail about 6 times in addition to my regular maintenance appointments. I have had my services at each service indicator and performed all of the indicated codes. Tire rotations at each service by a Honda dealer. At my second service on 1/30/09, 16,000miles my tires were marked as 6/32 wear tread remaining. At my third and most recent service 9/5/09 the tires were marked as 4/32 remaining, and I was advised that I would need to buy new tires at less, this is with 26,000 miles on the vehicle. I contacted bridgstone/firestone regarding the short life of the tires and they said that they know about the problem, but that it is Honda that is buying poorly made "cheap" tires and putting them on their new vehicles because they do not warranty them for mileage. Then Honda makes out like bandits for selling you new tires in 18,000 to 32,000 miles with an added cost for mounting and 4-wheel alignment at just about $800. 00. The Honda service tech seemed to get some humor in telling me that I needed new tires at 26,000 miles and was very accommodating as far as providing me a price for the same exact pieces of crap that came with the vehicle, plus mounting and balancing fee, plus a 4 wheel alignment fee. If I had known about this before I bought my vehicle I would not have bought from Honda. I too was looking for a vehicle that was good in the snow we see in new england winters and had good gas mileage. What a scam Honda has going!.
I purchased my Honda Cr-v in June of 2008. I have approximately 27,000 miles on my vehicle. I was told the tires needed to be replaced. I was told the tires should not have worn so fast and there was a known problem with this particular tire. The vehicle now plus strongly to the left at highway speeds and I was told this was not due to the tire wear. They are still trying to figure out what is wrong with the left front tire. I have had several Honda's and can say I am very disappointed in this one and will not buy another.
Tread separation on bridgeston dueler h/t 684
while traveling on a highway at 55 mph, left front tire separated from tread and caused extensive damage to bumper, fender, head light.

I experienced excessive "cupping" on the rear tires of my new 2008 Honda cr-v awd. The tires began to make a very loud noise and the vehicle developed a slight bouncing ride at about 22,000 miles and both issues became intolerable at about 26,000 miles, and you could feel the extreme cupping of the tires when rubbing your hand over the tread. I had the dealer rotate the tires with every scheduled oil change, and the cupping problem still continued to occur. The vehicle came with the conti 4 x 4 tires, and they needed to be replaced at my expense well before a reasonable life expectancy. The Honda dealer would not provide me with any warranty assistance or discount, stating that they would do a 4 wheel alignment on the vehicle - at my expense - and sell me 4 new tires. There are numerous forums on the internet where people are complaining and alleging that the awd vehicles (fwd's are ok) are leaving the factory with improper alignment of the rear camber and it is causing the premature wear of the factory tires. The dealer claimed that they had no knowledge of this problem. I took the vehicle to a national tire shop and purchased 4 new tires and had them perform a 4 wheel alignment on the vehicle. . . . The computer read-out that they provided me showed that the rear tires were aligned in extreme opposite directions. The employees at the tire shop alleged that they were very familiar with the problem because they see lots of 2007 and 2008 Honda crv's in their shop with the same problem. I believe there is a problem for which Honda doesn't want to accept responsibility. Tire cupping is not only a nuisance because of the rumbling noise that gets louder at freeway speeds - it is also a safety issue for braking and traction because of how it affects the amount of tread surface contact with the roadway. Immediately upon leaving the tire shop, the problem disappeared and the vehicle ride is quiet and great. I cost me over $800 for new tires and a 4 wheel alignment.
Excessive wearing of rear tires on Honda crv. "cupping" has occurred on rear tires @ 16k miles. According to dealer, this occurs when tires aren't rotated every 3k miles. I know I requested and believed the dealer had rotated my tires @ 5k intervals, but they don't have any records of this. ????? if this is the case, why aren't the other two tires "cupping"? they have 7500 miles on them since they were rotated to the rear position. The "cupped" tires were moved front to "alleviate" the condition and allow them to wear in, according to dealer. This didn't happen and the condition has worsened! they claim there isn't any defects on the vehicle to cause this condition?? I have owned and driven cars for 43 yrs. And have never experienced this condition!! I do believe there is a problem in which Honda doesn't want to accept responsibility for. We had purchased a used crv in the past, for our daughter and have had to beg, plead and battle them to honor their "multi point checks & pre-certification" claims and warranty! they are running their advertising "scams" and getting away with it!.
The wheels on 2 of my tires are leaking air.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Approximately 2 years later, while having the vehicle serviced the contact was informed that the tires on the vehicle had become excessively worn over time. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 21,000. Updated 11/03/10. Updated 11/04/10.
