Wiper Problems of Honda CR-V - part 2

The windshield washer system on my new Honda crv is not operating to effectively clean the windshield. The washer fluid is sprayed from nozzles on the windshield wipers, only briefly at the far left end of the wiper travel arc. On the driver’s side, the washer fluid sprays only on the far left two inches of the windshield, which the wiper does not contact. The passenger’s side of the windshield, receives no sprayed washer fluid (the fluid sprays only at the end of the wiper travel arc, in a narrow band in the middle portion of the windshield). Both wipers simply smear any dirt/debris on the dry windshield making visibility worse. I now carry a spray bottle and paper towels in my vehicle so I can pull over to clean the windshield when necessary. The windshield washer system on my vehicle is available for inspection. The windshield washer does not effectively clean the windshield, since the washer fluid is not sprayed over the entire windshield. The dry wipers simply smear any dirt or debris on the windshield making visibility worse. Specifically, the area in the driver’s line of sight is not effectively cleaned, creating a safety hazard. The vehicle windshield washer was inspected by the dealer’s service department, which also inspected other crvs on the dealer’s lot, all of which exhibited the same issue. The district manager is also aware of this issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no no warning messages or indications were evident. The dealer never mentioned this issue, although it has been a function of a new windshield washer design introduced in the 2023 crvs, and mentioned in many online complaints from crv owners since 2023. The rear view camera system of many of these 2024 & 2025 Honda Cr-vs at night shows an image of the rear area behind the car that is greatly blurred. No object is clearly visible, and many objects are not visible at all. Does this meet the federal regulations in 49 cfr 571. 111 § 5. 5. 1 , 5. 5. 2 , and 5. 5. 6.

On [xxx] I parked my 2024 Honda Cr-v exl on my driveway as I do every night. Night time temperatures that night dipped into the digits, around 6 or 7 degrees. The next morning, as I prepared to take my wife to work, I noticed a vertical crack on the driver's side rear view mirror. My vehicle is still less than one-year old. Online I have read that this is not an isolated occurrence with Honda Cr-vs. I will take my car back to the Honda dealer in bethesda, MD tomorrow, January 29th. Driving on freeway when a loud noise came from driver side window and the window had completely shattered. The whole window was completely gone by the time I was able to realize what happened. It was like it broke all at once.

Car was just purchased and now noticed that the driver side mirror is a problem. It is distorted and causes impairment of driver vision. It makes you feel you are seeing double or having a stroke. The driver's side mirror glass vibrates excessively while operating the vehicle at highway speeds. This mirror glass vibration causes distorted images to be seen in the mirror and can disorient the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

As my car was warming up, I was standing near the driver door and hear a *tink* noise. When I got into the car, I saw that my driver side mirror had a single vertical crack straight down the middle. There was no point of impact and when I first approached my car not even 5 minutes prior, the mirror was perfectly intact. For all intents and purposes, the mirror has spontaneously cracked. The dealership I took it to has refused to replace the mirror under warranty although my car is less than two years old and only has 10000 miles. The crack distorts visibility considerably. This is a known issue with 23-24 crvs with a lengthy thread on reddit detailing similar experiences.

Drivers side outside side mirror spontaneously cracked from top to bottom while parked in the cold weather. There was no impact or other damage to cause such a crack. It makes is difficult to see to change lanes.

Hi - happy new year! when temperatures dropped in late Nov/ early Dec 2024, my driver side mirror cracked when I did a remote started. I park my car in my own driveway (safe neighborhood and also with security camera) and there was no external damage. Car is new (bought in March 2024) and had less than 7,000 miles.

Driving this vehicle during rain or snow is very unsafe for visibility reasons. 1. Th wiper blade does not fully clean the windshield. There is a very large corner on the bottom left over the driver dashboard that is left unwiped preventing the driver from seeing the yellow line in the road or anything for that matter. 2. In general the heating system does not operate properly and maintain the proper temperature that it is set too. 3. The heating system related to this complaint is the front dashboard defrost heater that would defrost the window or keep it unfogged while driving. This does not work. At all! when the temp drops outside during rain or snow the heat needs to be put on full blast high heat just to defrost the window and keep it clear while driving. Meanwhile the car is about 80 degrees inside and very hot. 4. It seems that the vent along the dashboard under the windshield is not long enough or wide enough and is very dangerous. Please note, I am [xxx] ” and my visibility while driving is a 3 out of 10 and I’m tall. I can’t imagine a shorter person being able to see at all. My driver side mirror gets extremely shaky especially when I'm on the highway with speeds over 50miles. The image gets distorted, which makes us dizzy while driving. We are afraid the mirror will crack while driving and we'd have no way seeing. This is too dangerous. Brand new car and all these issues we have to deal with. Too frustrating. I want a solution from Honda ASAP. Thank you.

Vehicle purchased new, in October 2023. During October, 2024, the drivers side rear view mirror developed a vertical crack, about an inch from the right edge. There is no damage to the vehicle / mirror housing. There was no impact. There was no significant temperature change. I just walked to my car one morning to see the mirror cracked. I've contacted 2 Honda dealerships & they want > $200 to repair.

The left side mirror vibrates when driving over 20 mph.

Both side mirrors shake vigorously while driving at any speed. It is very hard to focus and see the image in the side mirrors. Most of the time I have to use the rear view mirror to see behind me. The shaking is so severe that sometimes if I’m looking at the side mirror trying to see it will make my head hurt.

The back up camera is in black and white with low contrast. It occasionally flashes in color, but it makes it nearly impossible to use safely.

When driving in heavy the front wipers do not move fast enough to clear the rain. The passenger side wiper also pushes a ‘puddle’ of water right into the driver’s view. I couldn’t see anything for that second. I could get video if I have a passenger when it happens again.

On driving to the other side of the state from my home to visit family on [xxx] in michigan, I was driving 70-75 miles per hour. It takes close to 3 hours of driving one way. There was a lot of insects hitting my windshield and when I used the wipers the water just flew over the windshield, not getting my window wet to enable the wipers to clean my windshield. If I am driving 30-50 miles per hour that doesn't happen. I could not get my windshield clean of the bugs which inpaired my vision. I talked with the service department and they said it is the way the wipers are made and they can not do anything about it. I did call Honda customer care line and I have a case #[xxx]. The driver's side side view mirror shakes while driving at highway speeds. This makes using the mirror extremely difficult and dangerous when attempting to merge or switch lanes as it it difficult to clearly see. I brought this to the dealership to get it fixed, but they said that "all Honda crv side view mirrors shake that much. ".

The wiper system stops working at times. The arms just stop mostly in the delay wiper setting. This makes it extremely hard to see in rainy conditions. No lights on the dash, have not brought the car to the dealership yet. I am quite frustrated that a 4 year old vehicle has an issue like this. We bought a new car to avoid fixing problems as cars age. Thankfully no one was hurt. This has happened a few times. I told my wife I would drive the car in the rain to see what happens to better describe it to the dealership.

The driver side visor will not remain in the full upright position. When driving the vehicle I have hit my head several times due to the visor falling to a 45 degree position instead of remaining in the flat against the headliner. This requires constant adjustment while driving by moving to the side window, or moving back to the front windshield to avoid constant nuisance while driving. We have hit our head on the visor many times looking for traffic at a stop sign or when merging. After taking the vehicle for services, this issue has been brought up to several service personnel at the dealer and stated the owner is responsible for this common defect. There are numerous issues listed on the complaint list that have been reported. Just yesterday, I spotted a crv of simmilar year model in costco parking lot, and stopped to look in the vehicle to notice that they had a loose driver side visor hanging down about 3-4 inches as well. This shows that this is very common. The replacment part is in excess of $150 to replace, and there are numorous comments about replacing this part due to same reason only to encounter the same result after a few months of use. Since this has become such a nuisance for the driver and a safety issue of constantly adjusting to ensure a clear field of view driving, we have opted to just remove the visor knowing that the replacement will likely be a waste of time and money to only encounter the same issues again at a later date. It is disappointing to see that Honda is not taken serious concern for the customers encountering this issue that is such a common safety distraction and nuisance to the drivers of these year model crv's. I read reports that have been entered from a 2018-2020 for more than a dozen vehicles just on here that have reported the issue. This visor is a vehicle safety feature that the customer should not have to remove in efforts to minimize safety risks that are more often a nuisance than assisting in safety and visibility.

The driver's side mirror repeatedly shakes at speeds above 40 mph and is very prolific at highway speeds (especially 70 mph). It is extremely disorientating and makes it difficult when trying to get an accurate read of surroundings when changing lanes. I had the mirror glass replaced at a dealer, which only made the issue worse. Another dealer replaced the entire mirror assembly, which seemed to solve the problem temporarily. However, it resumed less than a month later and may even be getting worse.

When the windshield wipers are in use they fail to remove water in heavy rain reducing visibility to the point I have had to put on hazard lights and drive much more slowly which on the interstate or on two lane roads is not safe. Also when attempting to clean the windshield with the wiper and solution the design has the cleaning solution coming out of the wiper blades themselves causing most of the cleaner to be sent down the passenger side windows also the blades don’t make good contact with the windshield which leaves a lot of the “bug guts” either in place or smeared making it very very difficult to see especially when the sun hits the windowshield often to the point of almost blinding. I have had the blades replaced twice and this has not solved the problem. This design change is not a good one and is creating what could be a dangerous situation. My previous Honda did not have any problems with windshield wipers like this.

The driver side sun visor became very difficult to operate and when trying to place in back in the stored / upright position it will not go into place and hangs down 2-4" that can cause visibility problems especially for taller drivers. This is a very common defect on several Honda vehicles as seen on Honda forums or a google search of Honda sunvisor problem.

From the day I drove my brand new 2025 Honda Cr-v off the lot after purchasing it, in the driver's side rear view mirror, the mirror vibrates terribly as soon as you are going 35/45+mph. The faster the speed, the worse the vibration is. You can visible see the mirror glass shaking. It is very dangerous at all times to not be able to see with this side mirror. It is especially dangerous on the highways because it distorts the view so greatly and also makes me feel disoriented and dizzy when I try to use it to safely navigate the roads. If the mirror glass were to fly off, this would lead to an even greater danger. Yes, this problem has been confirmed by a dealer. It has been brought to saratoga Honda and they replaced the entire mirror unit. The second unit had the same defect, and did the same thing. They stated if they replaced it a third time, it would not make a difference. They also drove another crv just like mine off the lot and the mirror did the same thing. This is an issue that needs to be turned into a recall. It is not okay that Honda produced vehicles with something so unsafe, with no ability to fix it.

The windshield washer is placed on the wiper blade. When you try to get water on the windshield it blows off before the wiper blade can actually touch it to clean the windshield. Without water, the debris on the windshield will only smear. I had this happen on the interstate and tried to clean the windshield and the windshield became impossible to see through. I had to stop on the side of the interstate and pour water from my water bottle on the windshield so that I could drive the car. I spoke to a worker in the service department at the Honda dealership in murfreesboro, TN. He agreed that the design was a problem but said there was nothing he could do to fix it.

The backup camera image is shown as black and white, not color, and has poor resolution. With the black and white image and poor resolution, it is hard to determine exactly what is behind the vehicle when backing up, particularly in conditions of reduced lighting. The backup camera system was inspected by Honda dealership service and confirmed to have an issue. The display screen unit was replaced, but the backup camera image is still shown as black and white and has poor resolution. Another service appointment has been made.

When putting the car in reverse, the rear camera image is usually black and white instead of color, which is unsafe because of the lack of contrast. It will also strobe between black and white and color, which is also unsafe and annoying. I took it to the dealer today (all star Honda in abilene TX) and they said Honda knows about the problem but doesn't have a fix yet. I've looked online at the Honda Cr-v owners group and redditt and see many complaints posted. . . So I'm guessing NHTSA knows about it, but just wanted to make sure. . . . And I want my brand new car defect fixed. . . . And I want Honda to stop manufacturing cars with this known defect.

The rear view camera display keeps switching from color to black&white mode during parking operations. This happens even during good weather where there is plenty of light out and no reason for it to switch to low visibility or nighttime mode. The car dealer said there was no fix for this. This behavior began shortly after purchase and has continued to occur since then.

The 2024 Honda crv windshield wiper do not fully wipe rain water on the driver side, leaving 3" 1/2 on driver pillar that is untouched by the windshield wiper. This reduces driver visibility during rain. Due to this concerns my wife do not feel safe driving this vehicle in the rain or snow.

After driving a car through a rainstorm, and trying to back up into a parking space on a city street, big blobs of water drops appeared on the rear camera making it impossible to see backing up. Many people report this on social media sites.

Failed component: the windshield washer system is faulty – particularly the passenger side. Honda refers to it as a “wet arm wiper” system. More specifically, the washer fluid is emitted from the wiper arm instead of a more direct spraying method. As such, it does not spray out evenly across the windshield. It basically dribbles onto the windshield, with a delay, and winds up getting dumped onto the bottom of the windshield and the outer edge of the wiper blade. The small amount of washer fluid that does get onto the windshield simply gets mixed with the debris on the windshield and dirties and obscures the windshield even more and makes it even harder to see out of. This is particularly dangerous when the vehicle in operation when the windshield washer is used and the windshield become smeared and obscured in traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request safety risk: upon utilizing the windshield washer system while driving in traffic, the windshield becomes smeared and obscured to a point where the operator cannot see very well out of the windshield. Reproduction by dealer: the issue was reported to the dealer on 1/28/2025 and dismissed as “normal wet arm operation”. Inspections: as stated above, the issue was reported to the dealer on 1/28/2025 and dismissed as “normal wet arm operation”. Warning / messages / symptoms / first appeared: there were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The issue first appeared shortly after the purchase date of 4/26/2024; the first time I used the windshield washer system.

-the windshield wipers will not properly clean the windshield. - when driving in heavy rain the wipers do not clear the rain completely there seems to be a film of water left behind, the wipers will not clean the windshield of debris completely, I drove through a heavy swarm of bugs and the wipers would not clean windshield completely. Has been reported to dealership and Honda America. - no, I have taken to the dealership, they state that there is no issue, but they did not drive the vehicle in the conditions that I reported. I dropped the vehicle at the dealership with 8,172 miles on odometer and picked it up with 8,172 miles on odometer. - the vehicle has not been inspected by any entity other than the dealership. - no warning lamps, or messages.

Driver side mirror. The mirror looks very distorted and shakes significantly when driving. The view from my driver side mirror looks worse at night, which is when I do most of my driving. Headlights from other cars affect the view from my driver side mirror and give off a terrible reflection. I have taken my vehicle to Honda dealer and they stated they did not notice any distorted images or shaking. I have had this vehicle for barely 2 weeks and have had no luck in finding the a solution.
