39 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Air bag light comes on periodically, sometimes stays on for duration of the drive, sometimes goes off. This has been consistent since early 2014. Reported this to dealer when takata recall happened. Dealer says no recall has been issued and offered to diagnose air bag light issue for $90. I have declined this offer. In light of takata recall, and my vehicle's make/model in relation, I don't believe I should have to pay for this service.

40 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

The air bag light comes on and stays on intermittently for no apparent reason. Many, many 2005 Honda Odyssey owners are having the same issue. For some reason manufacture year 2005 was not included in the most recent recall? we got the initial letter telling us our air bags would be a recall item in the summer, 2014 but then never received a follow-up letter. Upon investigation on my part I found out that my model year, 2005, air bags did not get recalled. But we are having the same air bag issue and seems like we should have been included on such an important safety matter.

43 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Honda Odyssey 2005 model vehicle seat weight sensors could result in disabling the air bags. If a weight comparable to a child (such as school bag or groceries or a box) is placed in front passenger seat and seat belts are not buckled, air bags are disabled and the indicator light on the dashboard is illuminated. Even after removing weight the light stays illuminated. Subsequent passenger sitting and seat buckling do not have any effect on the disabling of air bags and indicator. It has to be reset by a dealer. This could endanger the passengers in Honda Odyssey 2005.

44 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

47 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The airbag light comes on and stays on (2003 Honda Odyssey). I noticed that this is somehow linked to when I shut off my ac in preparation for reaching my destination, leaving the air running with air recycle on. I have taken it to the Honda dealer thrice. When they ran a check the code indicated a problem in the cable. They managed to get the light turned off the first time around indicating that the cable may need to be changed. When the light came back on the second time about a week later the cable was changed. This time the light came back on even before I got the vehicle home from the dealer. The third time I was told that the code indicates a need for cable change and since the cable is new that is not a problem and will require an expensive investigation to get to the bottom of the issue. Since the light was out then they asked to try it out. Again three days later, today 8/26/2013 the light came on as I reached my drive way. This time too I had turned off the ac, leaving the air running for the last couple of minutes. I had been testing this since my third visit to the dealer (3 days ago) and today the light came on again.

49 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/17/2013

The airbag dash light came on and stayed on. I took my minivan to the Honda annapolis dealership service department where they ran diagnostics. They told me nothing was wrong with my airbags. They did find, however, that the driver's seatbelt needed to be replaced, so they did so free of charge. They weren't able to tell me why the airbag light came on, and told me to be grateful, as if there was something wrong with airbags, it would have cost me a lot of money to have them replaced.

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

Srs indicator stays on after the engine starts.

52 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/23/2012

Beginning around Nov. 23, 2012, air bag light on dashboard stayed on after its initial test (blink on and then off) once ignition turned on and engine running. Over next approximately 5 months, light would intermittently come on after test and then stay on while engine running. Seems to occur more more when the outside temperature is warm rather than cold. However, within the past approximately 1 month (since may 2013), light has been staying on constantly after initial test and ignition turned on. Vehicle has been operating normally otherwise. I've checked all seatbelt connections and fuses and nothing abnormal found. No other dashboard lights are having problems, nor have there been any electrical or mechanical problems with the vehicle, so problem is isolated to airbag system.

54 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

Air bag indicator light on and off. After two years the light on most of the time and it went off automatiically for a while then came back on. I call to american Honda motor inc. They don't want to create a recall for that because that will be different component fail in that case. They just want to create the recall for each componet break down. They not cover the repair cost and depend on which component under warranty then Honda will not charge the parts. Otherwise we need to pay all the repair. I request for the recall for the srs light on. Because a lot of the owners think that is not important they think just the light is on and keep driving. I was thinking the same way too. That's why I want to request that recall ASAP for the srs light on so we will save the people life in advance.

Failure Date: 01/12/2010

When passengers are in the passenger seat, the airbag indicator light states airbag is off. I have informed the dealership where I purchased the auto about this several times. Nothing has been checked. I'm very concerned about this, my husband and I travel a lot now and a crash and a non working airbag could be the difference between life and or serious injury.

60 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/06/2009

New 2008 Honda Odyssey with less than 200 miles, when the problem first occurred 1. Vibration in the steering wheel while braking. Happened every time when stopping at stop light or when slowing down. The Honda service dept. Identified it to be a warped motor and they had to resurface it. They mentioned that this problem has been noticed in some other vehicles too, but they didn't know what caused the problem. 2. Passenger air bag light comes up while driving even when there is no passenger in the seat. The Honda service dept. Has looked at it twice now, as recent as 2/13/2009 and have mentioned that they don't know why it happens. . . That it also happens in one of the service tech's Odyssey van. Their solution to address this problem was to place a heavy object on the passenger seat! on both issues, I had opened a case with Honda customer service case #: n012009-01-0701207. The first time, the cust service representative tried to shrug off the vibration issue as not an issue. On the second incident, the representative sounded concerned and mentioned that he would also be upset about these multiple issues on a new van. He assured that within 2 days, a Honda representative will contact me to follow-up on this issue. But, never did I receive any call back. Due to poor response from Honda customer service, I haven't called them back as I don't get any proper response from them. I feel that I have been sold a "lemon" and that the Honda company should take this vehicle back and provide a new/different Odyssey van.

61 Air Bag Light On problem of the 1999 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/16/2008

The contact owns a 1999 Honda Odyssey. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. Prior to the failure, a green key light symbol illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle restarted normally and stalled again while driving. The dealer stated that they would diagnose the vehicle for a price. The diagnostic revealed that the harness needed to be replaced and may have caused the vehicle to stall. The srs air bag light illuminated and was repaired for free. Currently, the ignition needs to be repaired at the contact's expense. The contact has scheduled an appointment to have the ignition repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000 and current mileage was 108,000.

62 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/13/2007

I received a letter from Honda saying the 'opds" sensor may be defective and Honda would replace it. We had it replaced at patterson auto center, wichita falls, TX 76301, invoice #hocs78608, 9/13/07. The "srs" indicator light had been "on" and with the replacement the light was "off". One month later the light came "on" again and we returned to have it checked out. I was told the "srs control unit" needed to be replaced, so we had that done, this was replaced at my cost. Then on 4/5/08 while driving on a smooth road, the passenger side air bag deployed, hurting my wife the passenger on her arm. The following Monday 4/7/08 took vehicle to patterson's and showed them the deployed air bag. Jimmy kendrick in service department said he had never seen that happen before without an accident. They connected the computer to the system and it indicated a side impact. Jimmy visually inspected the vehicle to have not had any "side impact" and could not explain why it had deployed. I asked if Honda would correct the faulty air bag system and was told "no". Latest incident was on 7/29/08, while sitting in the vehicle at the church parking lot, with the engine running, but parked the drivers side air bag deployed, injuring my left arm. No side impact had occurred to cause this to happen. I was very lucky I was not driving at the time, because I know it would have caused me to have an accident. We need Honda to recall this vehicle and replace the air bag system before any of the other air bags deploy and cause a major accident leading to death, as soon as possible!.

63 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

64 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/17/2003

Problems with the srs indicator light coming on and remaining on. Have had car into dealer 3 times in one month. The srs control unit was replaced during the 1st visit. On the 2nd visit we were passed off and told that we should not put items on the seat. On the 3rd visit we are told that 3 items must be replaced 1) srs control unit 2) opds and 3) passenger seat sensor. When we purchased the car, we purchased an extended warranty. We are now being told that the first item (srs control unit) is covered under warranty but the other 2 items are not. This is unacceptable. The dealer is now saying that they will "do us a favor" and pay for the parts but we must pay labor. (hundreds of dollars) how can one part in a mechanism be covered but not the other 2. This is a key component in the car. This is a real safety concern. Once the indicator comes on, we must take the car immmediately to the dealer or we risk serious injury (or death) if we are in a accident. I do about 3 hours of driving per day so this is not acceptable. We are being told that we cannot put items on the seat like a cell phone. This is ridiculous. Who ever heard of not being able to have a cell phone near by. (which by the way there was no cell phone on the seat in any of the incidences) this is clearly a defect with this car that Honda needs to address.
