1 Dash Wiring problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/11/2005

Hello - I have a 2005 Odyssey that might have and others might have potential safety issues. A while back I found a loose bolt in the drivers side sliding door and another bolt that was not tightened at the factory. I am concerned that this represents a serious quality control breakdown. While my problem was addressed, since then I have had numerous other issues and in the process of filing a lemon law complaint as a result of repeated attempts to fix my vehicle. My concern is also that my dealership told me they have found six other vehicles with loose bolts in the car. If someone is in a position to do this, what else would this person potentially have done to this vehicle and others. This makes me wonder if someone at the factory was doing this as a joke or if there are other potential safety issues related to this finding. In addition to this, I have had multiple problems with the dvd/navigation system and the rear camera often stays on while moving forward. This is quite a distraction to the driver. I have been working these issues with Honda customer care for the last 5 weeks with no progress. Also, this vehicle has been in five times to have this looked at. I continue to have problems with this vehicle. While it was in having the dvd/nav problem looked and the rear view mirror fixed (fell off while driving down the interstate), three additional recalls were found. Also, the rear view mirror could not be fixed and the windshield was replaced. Had to bring it back in the following day since it was not installed correctly (had wind noise). This issue was fixed. I am now on vacation and the windshield washers stopped working. The problems that continue to mount up on this vehicle make me question its overall safety and road worthiness.

2 Dash Wiring problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/12/2005

Summary: wiring problem that could potentially cause air bag deployment when turning steering wheel. The wiring inside the cable reel assembly in the steering column of my 2003 Honda Odyssey came apart inside. This wiring include srs wiring as well as horn, lighting, and cruise control wiring. Upon removal of this part all copper contacts to all wires were exposed and any wire could have shorted to any other wire -- this could potentially cause the steering wheel srs/air bag to be deployed while driving. Contacts were constantly being tugged at whenever the steering wheel was turned. Because the car has 42,000 miles and Honda would not say they would pay to fix it, I repaired this myself in accordance with the Honda service manual. I have pictures of the part, and have save the part in a zip-lock bag so that it can be analyzed.

4 Dash Wiring problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/19/2004

We have owned the Odyssey for about 3 years. The clock light has burnt out twice, a heater light once, the passenger head light once, and the dash instrumental panel went dead as we were driving down the highway. It came back on after I hit the gas. Dealer can not duplicate the problem with the dash instruments so they cant fix it. Either Honda has low quality bulbs since none of these lights have ever burnt out in any other car I have owned or there is an electrical problem. Also, we bought an extended warranty that was suppose to have bumper to bumper coverage. We have taken the car to 2 dealers and they have said our warranty does not cover our problems. I feel like I got scammed. Normally, I would not worry about 1 bulb burning out but there seems to be a pattern here and Honda should find out what it is at their cost. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this vehicle and the customer service, especially since the Odyssey is an expensive vehicle.

5 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/21/2003

When driving my Odyssey, normally in the 30-50 mph range, all or most of the dashboard indicator and warning lights will flash intermittently for a brief second or two. The numerous (25 + ) times this has happened is frightening because one thinks the van has stalled. There seems to be no pattern or connection such as playing/not playing radio, a/c, amount of gas, etc. . . I will say 75-85% of the occurences happen on the road leading to our subdivision (usually 30-50 mph driving). Also, I'm sure there have been instances I have missed it because it can happen so quickly; one actually has to be looking at the panel. Honda says to drive the van since it is not stalling and there appears to be no inherent danger. Honda's policy is they cannot do anything until they replicate the problem. Interesting! what are they going to do when it happens --- there's no time to take a picture. I've considered running a video camera, but it's so unpredictable when it will happen. There seems to be about a dozen different instances of this happening (according to Honda), but they cannot replicate the problem. Guess what? the replication is not likely going to happen unless a service manager or technician takes temporary ownership of one of these vehicles for a month or two. Sometimes the flashing occurs once every month or two, maybe several times in one day or a week. Just because the service technicians cannot duplicate the problem, does that mean some of us are hallucinating? is anything being done or explored based on the information given. Honda, imagine this: if you actually replicated the problem and saw all the dashboard panel warning and service lights flash, what would that mean to you and what would you do? this is not imaginary! I am keeping written documentation of each time this issue is checked and reported, mainly for post-warranty issues.

6 Dash Wiring problem of the 1999 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/20/2003

The check engine light and tcs light comes on intermidently. Have complained about the check engine light from early on. Now 82,000 miles. . . Out of warranty. . . And service dept. Used diagnostics and said it was an ozone component. Replaced that on Friday and on Monday lights were back on. They say they can diagnose again and it could be 70 things. Can't afford to replace 70 things! had to replace brakes two years ago and they still squeak. Many problems with sliding doors. I need to find out if others have the tcs and check engine light problems or if there is a recall. Ready to trade!.

8 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/07/2002

After starting engine, instrument cluster indicated problems and brake pedal was inoperative. Shutting down engine and restarting restored normal condition. Reported condition to dealer and left vehicle for testing. It was returned to me after they could not find anything wrong. The same thing happened to me again 2 hours later, so I called the dealer and had them tow the van back to their lot. They kept it for a week, but still did not find the problem. They did tell me other customers had been reporting this problem with vehicles built in al (similar VIN) and they were investigating it. I was instructed to continue driving the vehicle unless I could "consisently reproduce the failure". The service tickets for both visits do not mention the brake failures I reported. They are calling it a "bulb check". I called the national Honda customer service line and they agreed with the dealer. I am very concerned about these vehicles because I believe this problem could cause the brakes to fail when the vehicle is in motion.

9 Dash Wiring problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/01/2001

Warning panel light flashes on and off intermittently. Dealership is aware of problem. Engine is not cranking properly.

10 Dash Wiring problem of the 1999 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/01/2000

This vehicle has a recall on it, but since I purchased it legally in canada Honda does not want to do any repairs on it, forcing me to drive an unsafe vehicle. I have spoken to a few dealers about this & they tell me that they have many customers with this problem. Honda wants to discourage people from buying its' cars in canada so they are not honoring the warranties and recalls in the u. S. Forcing many people to drive with unsafe vehicles. I also have a malfunctioning automatic side door which could open while driving with children inside. I have documentation for all the above. Please help me. In the light of the Ford explorer isuue this is just unbeliveable.
