The 1998 Honda Odyssey recall for ignition switch I don't believe included all VIN numbers affected. My van is having the exact issue for what is stated in the recall, yet my VIN does not show as a recall. When the switch is turned to the run position, the dash lights may or may not illuminate. Once the van is started, there is a 50/50 chance that the stops running because of the switch. I believe this is an issue that needs to be looked into. Has not been confirmed yet because we are awaiting service on the airbag recall to put the van into service.

After turned off ignition and stepped out of car while in store car rolled away across parking lot damaging another vehicle. This is in response to the article read on your site about the 2003 Honda Odyssey rolling away after car has been turned off and keys are removed from ignition.
Unsure of exact date this first started occurring, but certainly within the last 12 months. We are able to turn the ignition to the off position and remove the key from the ignition while the vehicle is still engaged in gears other than park (d, n, r) . Typically happens when we pull into a parking place or driveway. Depending on vehicle orientation, car will start to roll if we do not engage parking brake. Several close calls, fortunately no roll-aways, accidents or injuries. Now having problems with the key fitting into the ignition and starting the vehicle. Almost as if the entire ignition / interlock system is wearing out, very loose tolerances, as if the ignition lock cylinders are not lined up any more.

There is a problem with ignition with the key. Key does not turn and stuck some times. You have to wiggle it to start. When try to stop the key dont turn all the way down and stuck in it. Unable to pull the key from chamber. Very frustrated. Called Honda for this issue. Honda said there is no recall related to this issue. Unable to take key out few times and constant problem. I read few complain on the internet about this issue.
Transmission failed while traveling 40mph at 130000 miles. It was replaced. There was a class action lawsuit regarding 2003 transmissions, but the window had closed, so I had to pay for it fully. November 20, 2011, while driving 45mph, dash lights flash, radio loses power. When I turn the ignition off, the car is dead. Restarts almost immediately, after lots of clicking in the dash. At varying speeds the dash lights will flash, and the clock and radio go dead briefly. Sometimes the door lock and the sliding door buttons don't work, but if I wait 2 minutes, I hear the clicking in the dash, and suddenly there is power. Left it at the dealership to be checked out over 4 days, and they say nothing is wrong. To be traveling at 40+ and have the car go dead is a hazard to me and my family, as well as everyone else driving while I am driving. It is currently at another shop to be evaluated.

My wife left work and drove home, approximately 2miles, and advised she smelled/saw smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. She exited the vehicle and advise the vehicle was on fire. Fire department responded and put out the fire, however the vehicle was a total loss. Local fire inspector investigated and advise the source of ignition was in the right rear of the vehicle in the area of the rear a/c unit and pbc. I contacted the manufacturer's customer service and they responded that "if your insurance company does not subrogate, there is nothing they can do. " the recent service on the vehicle was an oil change and new tires approximately one month prior.
