I brought my 2006 Honda Odyssey into the dealer for a brake master cylinder recall. Unbeknown to me I was informed that 2 motor mounts also needed to be replaced at the cost of $1350. The service manager explained to me that this is a common issue with the Odyssey and not part of regular maintenance. An online search reveals that many other owners of this van are experiencing the same situation. I thought Honda was known for safety but it appears it has also earned the reputation for defective motor mounts. At what point will Honda be held accountable for an obvious design flaw that jeopardizes the safety of its riders? my van has less than 60,000 miles and is just over the 5 year mark, so it is not covered under the warranty. As long as Honda is allowed to defer the cost of this repair to its owners it will. Hopefully it won't take someone to be seriously injured or killed before the appropriate action is taken. Its pretty obvious a recall is long overdue.

We own a 2001 Honda Odyssey Mini-van which we purchased new in April 2001. We have been having problems with the gears shifting and took the vehicle to the dealer on a number of occasions only to be told there is no issue. Finally, when the check engine light went on, the dealer conceded that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle has 77,000 miles and was still under the extended transmission warranty. However, the dealer than told us that the engine mounts need to be replaced as well. In reading the strings on the NHTSA odi website, it looks like this is a problem that exists across the 2001 models. I would recommend that Honda and NHTSA began a recall of these vehicles and/or extend the warranty on the engine mounts and the transmission to 100k or 10 years.

A strong vibration occurs when the transmission shifts from second to third gear. The driver must accelerate or decelerate to stop the rumpling. Eventually the transmission fails. This happened to me and hundreds of other owners as evidenced by reports to edmunds. Honda says it is normal.
I purchased a 2005 Honda odessey. I requested a moon roof as a Honda option. I was not told that this was not an option on the model that I had selected. I was given an after market moon roof. I went back to the dealer to have an over head dvd player installed and I was told that the main overhead beam was cut to install the moon roof and that what was left of the beam was not strong enough to hold the dvd player. I began to question the quality of work that was done to install the moon roof and I was then told it was after market. I asked the dealer and Honda to certify that the installation was safe. They both refused. I have since explained my concerns about the safety of the vehicle especially in turn over situations. Honda and the dealership has refused to do anything. I am very concern about the installation and I want Honda to take back the vehicle since I bought Honda but I was sold a Honda vehicle with an after market moon roof. Not only this but I don't have a Honda warranty on the moonroof. The only warranty I have is with the dealership. I am currently pregnant and I already have 2 children. The minivan is a vehicle for my family. I don't think the Mini van is safe in case of a crash or roll over. I say this because if the beam is not strong enough to hold a dvd player then in case of a roll over or crash the roof will come in on me and my children.
Clunking noise coming from front end, suspension parts installed but van still had clunking noise, on 2/1/01 noise was found to be caused by welding breaks in the front sub-frame. Cj.
