10 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

The abs system light has turned on. It happened before the above date, stopped coming on, and now has returned. I put brake fluid in the little compartment under the hood. The light goes out temporarily. Pep boys told me the problem is abs related. Also, a very costly job. The car also has a problem accepting gas. I have been told that the gas may be pouring into the tank too fast at the station and splashing on the side of the tank making the pump think it is full. Pep boys told me that it is a problem with evaporation and that it is a very costly job of roughly 1000. 00. America should be a more ethical and moral country. The consumer should not be "ripped off"" after choosing to purchase a used vehicles. Foreign cars should not be allowed into this country when they have defects. All used vehicles should have to conform to state inspections and garage inspections before offering it to the consumer. Consumers should get a clean bill of health from the dealership about the car. Money is so precious and rare. Why are we expected to spend it on a "lemon?" I went to a used car dealership and the car had a multitude of problems that were not revealed. I paid far too much for a used car with problems. I have made a lot of repairs. I re-purchased the car in repair costs. Cars are not like clothing whereby you try it on and if it doesn't fit you don't buy it. A car should undergo intense inspection by the state before a dealership can put it on their lot. The inspection should create more validity about the amount charged for a used car. It would be a good way to spend taxpayer dollars, given the current cost of taxes.

Failure Date: 05/10/2015

I was heading out and the abs and esc lights came on. Decided to turn around and go back home, due to fact that I was worried and scared that something was wrong with abs brakes and the esc control, that may or may not cause a crash or accident. I do not want to have an accident or end up getting hurt or hurt anyone else for that matter. Read in manual that it could be a faulty switch or sensor. I do not have that kid of costly money to fix problem. I need my car to get to doctors appointments as I have many health issues. If there is a recall I would like to know and have it fixed free of charge.

18 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

While braking normal to light pressure from 25-5mph on dry paved road, abs system will turn on and greatly increase stopping distance. There has been more than one instance that I have not been able to stop before a stop light or stopped traffic. There are no abs codes or abs idiot lights on in the dash which indicate that anything is wrong. Safety is a large concern. Brought vehicle to dealer and no issue was found, without being requested to pay $1500+ for an entire new abs. This was after they told me they couldn't find source to the problem. I see this a common problem on many forums and there is a recall on 2003-2005 Santa Fe's for a same/similar issue.

20 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/12/2004

I purchased my new car on 02/09/04 at bronx Hyundai. It is a 4-wheel drive 3. 5 ltr engine Hyundai Santa Fe. Upon driving I felt a hard knocking-vibrating sound when I drive on local (dry) streets and then a feeling that the car jumps (lunge forwards)after I stop. On several occasions I thought someone hit me from behind. This continues to happen only when I drive locally. The car has never done this on the highway, which is part of my daily commute. I wasn't sure why at first, the car did that and I thought it was part of the tracking control system(4-wheel drive even though the road conditions were dry. In every incident, the car feels like it is not going to stop, but it does. I am afraid because when the car jumps and if I get too close to someone it can hit a car in front of me, or even a person crossing. So, I was happy receive my recall notice stating the exact problem I was going through I then called and took the car to the dealer and told them what was happening. I hoped the programming would work since my problem was similar to the recall symptoms. That is when this nightmare began and it was on April 9, 2004. Since then, the dealer has been very cooperative but they seem at a loss also. My car was programmed twice and then the abs sensor replaced and a chip also(this was done last Monday). I have taken my car 5 times as of today. My car continues to do the knocking/grinding sound and on 2 occasions the last being on may 29; the abs, tcs and the 4-wheel drive lights on the interior control panel have flickered and stayed on as well. (when this happened my car did the knocking/vibrating noise as well. ) it has become a daily occurance so now I am documenting all of my incidents and I am getting afraid to drive my car. So today I gave my car back to the dealer and they told me that they will contact the main office at Hyundai. All parts and service were not charged and replaced with new Hyundai parts.
