38 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2017

Txx3 is the campaign but there was also another campaign that was talking about the specifics of what is happening with my vehicle that all relate to this. My car has stalled numerous times including on the highway. I have already had it towed to another shop, and now I need it to go to the dealership. The guy on the phone at the dealership knows the recall and issues, but basically says my car doesn't qualify. It only gets the extension of warranty on the motor. How can a company make a vehicle that could kill someone due to poor assembly and not really be willing to help? they should assume responsibility and fix my car.

39 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt. The contact was advised that the oil level was low and provided an oil change. The vehicle did not produce the diagnostic codes through the inspection that required replacing the engine; however, the recall remedy failed to repair the vehicle. Four days later, the failure recurred three more times. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt after one failure. Two other times, the vehicle restarted after a few attempts. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but no diagnostic codes were found. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not do anything based on the information that the dealer provided. 43 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

I experienced a total engine loss in 2015 while travelling on an interstate highway in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. My mechanic diagnosed it as an engine debris problem. This was prior to Hyundai disclosing that it had a known engine debris flaw with the engine. Rather than scrapping a four-year old vehicle, I had the engine replaced because the rest of the vehicle was in good shape. At the time of replacement new 2011 Sonata theta ii engines were impossible to obtain (because of the high failure rate) so a low mileage (53k) used theta ii engine from a different 2011 Sonata was obtained by my mechanic and installed in my vehicle. Obviously, this occurred before it became public knowledge that the alabama manufactured theta ii engine had inherent and dangerous flaws. Tragically but predictably the new engine is now exhibiting the same symptoms as the old one. Upon inspection the engine was diagnosed by my Hyundai dealership as having failed the campaign 132 diagnostic test. Hyundai has however repeatedly refused to provide any remedy to this second engine problem, saying that they don't want to provide remedy because the engine was sourced from a different 2011 Sonata (and that the engine is not the original one). It is unconscionable to deny compensation because I had the unfortunate experience of being the recipient of not one, but two engines that failed due to the same faulty design flaw. Hyundai should stand behind its faulty product and provide a remedy to the problem of their making.

44 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

Driving to the movie theater in my 2011 Sonata 2. 4 GLS, 113k miles, traveling through 40mph and accelerating on an access road and the engine quit. There were no warning signs, it just stopped. I coasted into a parking lot and tried to restart. It wouldn't turn, so I tried jumping it - no luck. Bought/installed a battery from a walmart that was near the parking lot - no luck. So, I thought it was the starter and had it towed to the nearby autotire repair shop. After some investigation, they called me and stated the engine had seized. Awesome. After doing some research on line, I found out it's a common problem, necessitating a class action settlement. I called the Hyundai customer care line and they towed it to the Hyundai dealer in st charles, mo. So far, I'm in for $180 for the two tows, $165 for the diagnostic check, and $671 for the rental car. Have my lawyer at the ready if Hyundai tries to weasel out of their obligation to fix this known defect. More to follow.

45 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

Car just stalled while driving on the freeway and wouldn't turn over after many attempts to jump start still nothing. Thought it was an electrical problem till the electrical shop I had taken the car to a electrical repair near my home and was informed that the engine was frozen or seized. My car is always well maintained with the necessary lubricants and fluids and had been serviced at the dealership for recall 132 recently but told me that they did not need to replace the engine. A couple months prior I had a valve job done at griffin automotive because the car started to barely even hold an idle because part of a valve had broke off sending a piece of metal thru the turbocharger which than also needed replacement for a grand total of $4,500 for valve job and new turbocharger.

46 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

On 10/25/2017, I was stopped in traffic in left hand turn lane waiting for the light to turn green. When light change I started to move forward and felt a shutter in the car. I stopped the car before making the left to enter into the intersection and all of the dash board lights came on, there was a small amount of smoke came out from under the hood and the engine was dead. Tried to restart the engine to no effect. If I did not stop at the car I would have stalled while making a left in the middle of a four lane road (the intersection of rt 1 & southampton rd) I had the car towed to my mechanic who informed me that the engine locked up and the starter was melted.

49 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2016

My car stalled in the middle of traffic and was told that it was because of a recall that I never received notification of. I think it was campaign 132 or 136. By the way, campaign 143 is also on the horizon. I could have been seriously injured and they are going to fix the car with no charge but I am out of work with no car because they only rent cars through enterprise. I cannot rent through enterprise and they are in no way trying to help me. I did not ask for this to happen and it is not my fault at all. I simply asked them to assist me in getting into something so that I could get to work. I'm missing days that I am not getting paid for because I am still new on the job. I work for the state highway administration and find this to be extremely wrong. You don't notify of me something and then say that if I can't use enterprise, whom they have struck some deal with, that I'm just left to my own devices. This is not right, I should be accommodated in some way regarding a car and I should be compensated for days missed at work. Ourisman Hyundai in laurel, MD has my car and they are telling me that it may up to a month to get the parts necessary for my engine! so not only are they forcing me to rent a car for something that Hyundai is responsible for (I was never notified of) but they are also telling me that I have to pay for a rental for a full month, won't get reimbursed for, and deal with the fact that I am not getting paid while being out of work. Are you kidding me? in what world is this okay?! something needs to be done about this and this whole system or way of doing things is not effective and penalizes the car owner for things they had nothing to do with. It's Hyundai's fault and I should not have to deal with this!.

October 3rd 2015, I was driving on highway 78 west. I was in the vehicle with my 3 year old daughter. I was driving in a 2 way lane that was under construction. All off a sudden without any warning my vehicle started to decelerate on the highway. I immediately had no control and my speed was decreasing fast. I was in the left lane and in matter of 4-7 minutes my car engine was shutting down on the highway. I was almost hit by multiple trucks who continued to fly by my vehicle on the highway as I tried to find somewhere in enough time to bear off. Putting me and my 3 year old daughter in immediate danger. Needless to say I was terrified. I was finally able to pull off into the right lane and pull my vehicle into the shoulder of the highway. Since I was in an area that was under construction on this highway the shoulder space was very limited. I could feel the trucks pass my car and I was scared for my life and my daughter¿s life. I had an immediate panic attack and thought my daughter and myself was going to die. This has caused a great deal of hardship on myself and my daughter. We have been without our vehicle since this incident. Hyundai in lebanon, PA has had my vehicle since 10/3/15 and continue to give me the run around. They say they ordered a new engine , but it has not shipped to the dealer yet. This incident has created a tremendous hardship for me and my family . I continue to be at a disadvantage as I am driving a rented vehicle . Meanwhile I continue to pay for a car I have not driven for over 3 months. Your immediate assistance would be appreciated. This issue I am having with my vehicle is due to a recall campaign 132. This recall was due to the engine malfunction that Hyundai is aware of. My vehicle stalled while in motion on the highway , putting my life and my 3 year old daughter's life at risk.
