Transmission replaced. . Starter taking more battery power to start car so starter was replaced then catastrophic engine failure. After replacement of engine- it was found that there is an electrical short that will not allow the alternator to remain charged. When the engine failed we were driving 68mph on the highway all lights, dummy lights and the power to the car started to flash, increase then decrease quickly then again and again. . Thumping noise lights continued to flash/on off/etc car lost power engine died. The dealership is now saying that I am responsible for paying for diagnostics to find the underlying cause of electrical short . . I am responsible for any electrical repair that needs to happen. Electrical system was not faulty prior to engine failure. Hyundai should be responsible for finding the issue and correcting the problem. . The car had no alternator charging issues prior to the engine failure. A total of $13,800 has been spent on repairs and the car is still non functional. This is just not right.
Takata recall this has been the worse experience of my life. In may I was driving west on hwy 40 towards raleigh nc when my car just stopped and made a funny noise, when I pulled over and tried to restart the engine smoke came from under the hood. I had it towed to southern Hyundai in raleigh on wake forest rd. It initially took three months to get a response from the manufacturer to pay 50% of the cost. Then 2 months later or around October when the car was ready I didn't have the other 4500. 00 to give them being a single parent of five. When the notice came out I asked them to see the manufacturer for the remaining balance. It is now December and I still don't have my car. I have been through so much and barely hanging on to a car making payments and haven't driven it in 7 months. The dealer still has possession of the vehicle, why can't the manufacture pay for the cost. I feel like I have been a victim of some cruel crime. What to do.
The car was being driven by my son. He said the car started making a funny noise and the check engine light came on. He switched cars with his mother. She could hear a rattle in the engine and made an appointment to have it checked the next day. On the way home, the car completely died. The vehicle was towed in and inspected. The mechanic stated that the engine had thrown a rod and the engine needed to be replaced.
I was driving down the highway and the car stalled. I coasted into an empty parking lot and turned it off. When I tried to restart it, I heard one click and then nothing. There was no evidence that anything was wrong, no warning lights, no weird noises, nothing. I had the car towed the following morning and was told by the repair shop that the engine seized up. I faithfully have my oil changed and there was no indication that the oil was low.
In August of 2011, I purchased a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata. It already had about 11,000 miles when I purchased it. In August of 2014. . . I was driving to work when I heard some weird noises and the car's engine stallled and I rolled to a complete stop. The engine was dead. I had the car towed to my mechanic and he said he found "shavings' when opening things up. He could not figure out what had caused this failure and basically told me. . . Parts failure. I called the dealership and they said that since I was a second owner, the 100,000 mile warranty did not apply to me. So I had to pay 5600 dollars to have the engine replaced by my mechanic. Now. . . I get a recall notice saying that my car was being recalled for "excees metal debris may have been generated from factory machining operations. This debris can be forced into the connectiong rod oiling passagesrestricting oil flow to the bearings and increasing of premature bearing wear. " do I need to be reimmbursed for a new engine?!!!!!.
Weeks after I got the new car from the dealer the car commenced to make the weird noise related to NHTSA campaign number: 15v568000. But also was some heavy burned oil smell coming from the engine. After the authorize dealer make me pay over $700 to fix some broken parts (cover of oil). After few online researches I understand the debris cause the broken parts of my oil engine. And I need to confirm what other risk and consequences are involved.
