My car started stalling while parked. As well as making a noise. I took my car to the huyndai Sonata for them to check on the recall. My specific car has the recall that affects my engine, and my engine light is on. The mechanic sent me a text advising me that "my vehicle4 is working as designed".
Engine started knocking and making noise. Check engine light came on afterwards and governed the car speed. No indications of warnings before or anything. Shop now says the engine is shot. Los angeles California.
The engine makes a noise when I drive, I keep having to replace head lights and tails every 3-4 weeks, steering wheel was making a noise I hade to replace bushing. This vehicle has as been a problem.
Driving down the road at about 55 mph and the car quit didn't make no noise or anything wouldn't start back so had it towed to the nearest garage and they said the motor was locked up.
I have continuously tried to get some answers regarding my engine recall. I first received the letter in 2017. As I continued to to have issues with my engine burning tremendous amount of oil, I was given a caseworker from Hyundai corporate that will no longer return my calls. I have went through all three oil consumption tests and they have seen that every 1,000 miles my engine no longer has any oil. The engine light does not come on for some reason. When I picked up my vehicle I was told okay now just wait until it makes a noise and the light comes on. I told the customer service representative that my engine is already ticking and the engine light never comes on. I was told there's nothing they could do. I was told by a different representative that after the third oil consumption test, if my engine was under the recall guidelines then it would be replaced. I don't understand how this is ok to mistreat you customers the way that Hyundai does. I'm still making payments on this 2013 Hyundai Sonata that's not even worth it!!.
While driving on a highway 60 mph my vehicle began to stall and turn off. The vehicle mileage decrease and the car completely turned off I was unable to place hazards lights on or signals because the power on the vehicle had turned off. Upon pulling over the following day trying to start vehicle it began to smoke. It did not crank or make any noise just smoke coming up from the hood. This an result to safety recall NHTSA # 17v226000 or safety recall # 162. Which is wear within the engine. Engine failure may result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Thankfully I did not crash but my vehicle stalled and completely shut off with no power to dash/radio etc which is a very dangerous occurrence.
Last year 2017 we had car in for inspection and it also had a recall at time. Do the inspection and recall. Recall was for metal shavings in the engine compartment. We got vehicle back and was told everything was fine. This year 2018 after an oil change at jiffy lube there was an engine noise. Then we got a recall about the computer change with the bearing wear issue's we had the oil changed before we took it in not fond of service at faulkner. So they were to do the recall and to please check the engine noise we still hear it once and a while. We also did a case with Hyundai with engine noise issue and the fact that this last recall was not a fix it was a cover your ass recall. I did not want anyone in my family driving a car that the engine could just slow down on the highway. Car is used for long distance driving to and from work. . 200 miles a day. Doing 70 -75 on highway thinking that the engine could slow down and you have tractor trailers on your bumper does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. After we took it in for this recall they told us they could not check the engine for metal shavings due to the fact that we just changed the oil. Now if this is the case why did they not tell us this the last time they "checked the engine" thinking they did not check it cause they did not change the oil. I don't know about you but I still do not feel safe in this car. What can be done at this point? the car has 140,000 thousand miles and other then this engine it might last another couple years. The engine makes the noise while sitting still, but not all the time. Nobody at the dealer wants to take the car and drive it for a while. The case was closed after we took the car to dealer faulkner of Hyundai because they could not check for engine metal. This was March of 2019. I do not have the case number because of this the car has no resale value.
Steering coupler was recalled and replaced at around 80,000, engine failed at 106,000ish and was replaced by Hyundai with remanufactured motor, steering is making noise again and acting exactly like before related to the steering column coupler. Noticed a lot of complaints about steering failure issues after engine replacement. Also, voiced concerns about repetitive failure of rear light bulbs and what appears to be faulty poor quality light plugs or too light of wiring for lights on car; nothing done a peacock Hyundai in columbia to check matter or remedy matter. Peacock Hyundai is now stating that the steering column has failed on a 5 year old car requesting approximately 1600. 00 to replace on issue that is acting like coupler problem; one of the Hyundai people in the bay said that is a coupler issue and the other jumped in and said it wasn't. Note: this vehicle had said coupler repaired under warranty; engine failed and was replaced at 106,000 due to shavings in engine (recall or service bulletin), now this reoccurrence of a steering issue has occurred just after the engine replacement. Just to pass this one as well; car has had two brake jobs within two years and I drive conservatively.
The car started making a noise for a brief moment and then all of a sudden just shut down. It had an oil change and everything was kept up. I just bought the car in April.
I went to drive my car to work Friday morning 6/27/2018 and it was dead. My husband had my battery tested, they said it was low so we bought a new battery and it worked. Car ran fine for the night and next afternoon, then out of the blue my car stalled and wouldn't start again ( 6/28/2018) I had to jump it. It started right away no problems, noises etc. I went ahead and drove it to our mechanics place across town (approx. 2-3 miles) for them to look at on Monday. As we were getting out of the car (it was turned off and parked) we noticed smoke coming from under the hood and then very quickly flames. When I drove the car those 2-3 miles there was no strange noises or sounds coming from engine. We called fire department. This happened 07/28/2018. And my car has been seen by the insurance company and is totaled.
Brought my car into a Hyundai dealer in sept 2017 for engine recall. Was told it didn't need to be fixed. June 2018, I was 3 hours away from home. Engine was making noises, brought it to a Hyundai dealer, the engine needed to be replaced. Shouldn't the first dealership have replaced the engine since it was a recall? now I have to take off work to drive 6 hours round trip to pick up my car when it would have been 5 minutes if the first dealership fixed the recall. I am loosing a days pay.
My Sonata is making noise like the bearings are breaking while I am driving it on city streets and the highway. I called the dealership to try to get an appointment, and they said they would not have an appointment for 2 weeks and that they would not give me a replacement vehicle on the day I dropped my vehicle off. I told them that my car is not safe to drive, and they don't care. I called Hyundai customer service, told them about the noise, and asked them what they can do about it. They told me I have to pay for my own rental car until they the appointment date, which is [ ], even though my car is under recall and making a noise like the bearing is already braking. The company expects me to drive my vehicle around for 2 weeks and hope the engine doesn't fail while I'm going 55 on the highway, or pay for my own rental car even though the issues is their defective engine. Corporate customer service informed me that if I drop off the car, I may have to pay for my own rental car for 3 months before I am able to submit it for reimbursement to Hyundai. My car is unsafe to drive, and the company is not handling the recall properly. Please help me as soon as possible so that I do not die in my defective Sonata while waiting for the company to deal with this properly.
2. 5 weeks after 90,000 mile service (June 9, 2017) and 3x recall inspections (including NHTSA campaign 17v152000), while driving down the highway at highway speeds (~ 75 mph on I-355), I experienced gradual loss of power. I noticed some light white smoke from the back of the car and my engine and oil lights came on. I immediately pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. Looking under the car, I saw 2 large streams of oil coming from the front (passenger side, traverse mounted) engine (2. 0 turbo). Attached photos are taken shortly after of the oil slick under the car. I called the dealer and they dispatched a tow truck and took the car to the dealer (June 27th, approx 3:45 pm cst, arrived at dealer 6:30 pm). I just called the dealer service department and was told the engine was found to "have a hole in the bottom of the engine" that was not related to the other recall notices. He stated their was a brand new recall that just came out after my service detailing how to inspect the engine for this new defect. He stated they used a microphone to check the engine sounds to detect it. He also stated several other cars have experienced this failure. Currently waiting on reply from manufacture to dealership for disposition of repairs (probably new engine). Dealership is "family Hyundai" of tinley park, IL.
My car has had increased metallic engine noise while stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway that increases in sound when accelerating. I brought my car into a Hyundai dealership and they have said that everything sounds fine though you clearly hear the engine does not sound right. Three weeks ago, a check engine light came on in my car. I brought my car into a Hyundai certified dealership. They did work on it and said my car was fixed. I left the dealership and the check engine light came back on about 12 hours later. On the second visit, all they did was clear the check engine light and told me to drive it around for a couple days that if the light came back on to bring my car in again. The light came back on the next day. I brought my car back in and they still have it at the dealership to this day 6/23/17. The engine sounds like a metallic knocking and is hesitant to drive at times. I am concerned about the safety of this vehicle. I have been without my car for about 11 total days while the dealership drives it around and tries to figure out why the check engine light keeps coming on. This last visit left me without my car (currently in a rental the dealership provided) for over seven consecutive days. They have ignored my complaints that I have engine noise and said my engine sounds normal even though other Hyundai Sonatas or any other Hyundai vehicle with the same 2. 4l engine not affected by the 162 recall sounds very different from mine. I dropped my car off there on 6/15/17 for the third time to resolve this issue by certified Hyundai mechanics. They have not fixed my car and have not offered to replace my engine even though my engine is part of recall NHTSA campaign number: 17v-226 Hyundai campaign162. I attached the original receipt of work done they claimed was supposed to fix my car, which did not.
Car was purchased on April 17th 2017 , on June 6th 2017 the engine made noise and seized up ,the dealer wants me to pay for a new engine , when there is a major engine recall .
Well I was on highway and it sounded like my egine was about to throw a rod I get off highway and drive home I get home and check my oli its empty but I dont see oil leak my engine is making noise as if something in it I didnt know what was wrong until I seen y local news and it was saying there was a recall on my model Hyundai sonanta which is 2013 and its limited when I got my car from drivetime it had 91506 miles on it and everything ms to atch up with the recall. . .
Will driving on us 1 going south bound in marathon florida as I was from 60 mph to 65 mph all of a sudden I lost all engine power. Speedometer went to zero and all idiot lights came on. I was able to coast to the side of the road. I tried to restart and it would not make any noise. I called Hyundai roadside assistance which took close to 4 hours to get to me. The car has approximately 29,600 miles on it. And the prior week I had an oil change performed at a Hyundai dealer. The dealer it was towed told me I need a new engine. It is now a week and I am still waiting on Hyundai to approve a warranty claim on the engine.
Engine making noise and trying to stall out. Worse after oil change. Took to dealership stated metal savings in the oil pan. Car has approx. 42,000 miles on it. Hyundai is not honoring warranty because we cannot find a couple of oil change receipts. We have several showing we got oil changed. They just recalled 2011-2012 models for metal in engine. State problem fixed in April 2012 my car assembled June 2012. A little too close for comfort.
