2 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 12/06/2019

I was driving to work Friday 12-6 at approx. 7:24am and the check engine light comes on and flashing. I then pulled over to see what was wrong and I turned the car off and back on the car will then only accelerate to 10 mph then slowly accelerate but will not go past 63. I was able to drive it back to a mechanic who then diagnosed it and stated it was a p3126 obd-ii diagnostic powertrain (p) trouble code description p3126 engine trouble code is about exhaust gas recirculation sensor b circuit high. Reason for p3126 code the reason of p3126 obd-ii engine trouble code is engine oil temperature sensor malfunction. P3126 code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the 3-4 shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission. Contacted Hyundai and justin asked me was the check engine flashing I advised him yes. He said it was more than likely a recall. He made me an appt for Tuesday 12-10 @ 7:15am. I proceeded to drive my vehicle to Hyundai and I was told it's not a recall and they are going to charge me $175 just to diagnose the problem. I drove it back to my job in flowery branch GA and contacted geico to tow it back to my house.

3 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/07/2019

Car shakes erratically when trying to accelerate and has no power after hitting accelerator. It struggles to get any power to get going after being stopped at a red light. Gear changes get stuck and I have literally been stuck in middle of intersection while doing a legal u-turn in a busy busy la intersection with my 10yr old in the back seat and the only way to get out of the situation was to turn car off and turn on again which poses a major safety issue for both my daughter and myself. Took car in to service last week and they supposedly fixed issue but one week later here we are with same problem. Service told me it looks like solenoid is going out. Which seems strange for a 2016 car with only 27,000. So if this was the case why not change it before it was sold to me. Also car had prior issues before it was sold to me according to service. I smell recall???? I have no documentation but the dealer has all supporting paperwork.

4 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/27/2017

When depressing the brake my car is making a clicking noise. Went to the dealer and he said it is normal. Previously it was little but now days it is making loud noise while driving. When we depress the brake and try to change the gear from p to d the gear rod is making same clicking noise. When read forums I heard that it is the problem with the solenoid but the dealer does not want to do because he has to do it for free. When asked the dealer he said that it does not come under warranty. Now the noise is really loud and no one is helping me out.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

When vehicle is cold and I decelerate down thru 20 mph, the transmission down shifts abruptly causing a jerking motion. I have been told by an auto mechanic who researched it that there was an actual recall by Hyundai for this issue. He said the problem was that Hyundai installed computer control equipment from an older model in their 2010 Sonatas and this resulted in a failure in proper communication between the computer and the automatic transmission's solenoid, causing the abrupt down shifting at 20 mph when car is cold. One last note: when this first started occurring, it would cause the "fix engine" light to come on, but this has not happened for about the last three weeks. The abrupt down shifting when cold still occurs consistently, always right around 20 mph.

7 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 01/31/2011

Hyundai Sonata se 2011, 630 miles. While traveling on an open stretch of highway at a steady speed of 70mph, there was a sudden loud “thump sound. The entire vehicle jerked violently with sudden deceleration as if it hit a solid object. Driver did not see any obstruction or imperfections on the road prior to the noise. Driver realized that the speed was almost instantly reduced from 70mph to ~63mph. Rpms were racing unusually high, around 3000 when typical operating range is 2000. Driver shifted from automatic “drive gear to shiftronic and realized that the transmission was stuck in 4. Neither the manual or automatic transmission could change the gear. Driver immediately took vehicle to dealer. Dealer’s service department acknowledged that the transmission was stuck in gear 4, but technician was able to reset the transmission by turning off the engine and restarting. Based on the computerized error codes, dealer replaced the body valve harness and solenoid.

8 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/05/2010

While driving the vehicle at 50 mph, it suddenly slams into third gear causing a violent jerking and sudden deceleration. The engine light comes on and the car remains in 3rd gear for a period of time and then returns to normal. This occurred two days in a row. The second time I was almost rear ended when my vehicle slammed into third gear. It was determined that the transmission wiring harness and overdrive solenoid were defective. Error code was p0765.
