On sept. 12,2025, I was driving with two family members. I was stopped at a light with the auto on/off engaged. Fortunately, I had my foot on the brake as the engine revved very significantly. I threw the car into neutral and the engine returned to normal. Had I not done so, we would have plowed into two cars in front of us at the light. The car was taken to the dealership; but, they could not duplicate a recurrence in road testing.
Oil consumption.

My 2023 Hyundai tuscon has 36000 miles. Started running rough with a slight noise. First noticed on wed [xxx]. On Thursday [xxx] I went to start my car and it stalled. Finally after letting it sit a few minutes it started but only to have the sgi light flash yellow and stay yellow for the remainder of the drive. That day I made an appt at my local Hyundai dealership in brandon florida. They kept my car. Fast forward, Monday September 15th I was notified that the car had lost a significant amount of oil. Car was inspected and free of any leaks. Tech stated because of the low oil & oil pressure the battery life was significantly impacted. I would need an oil change & new battery. Upon arriving back I came across an article stating that excessive oil consumption is common among these vehicles and the dealer wasn't even going to notify me of this issue. They were not honest and I want to file a formal complaint knowing that this is well known issue. I feel unsafe driving my children around and am upset that a recall has not been issued to fix this. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

For about a year I have had issues with my car not accelerating in stop and go traffic. I push the gas pedal and it moves a little then will not go for about 20 seconds. Sometimes the engine will flutter. I have taken it to Hyundai and was told no diagnostic codes show and they can't find anything wrong despite bringing the reports from my auto shop of these things occuring. My car is going in yet again this week because this issue continues to get worse and I have almost caused several accidents in traffic due to not being able to drive. There is a recall however Hyundai says my car is not in the recall despite the same issues the recall is for. I have all routine service done when needed and have taken care of this vehicle but I feel like Hyundai should step up because this is very dangerous not only for myself but other commuters as well. The Hyundai dealership literally said they just have the sign on their building they don't support these issues.
I leased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson from metcalf auto plaza [xxx]. Every week since then I have had to return the car for repairs. It got to a point where neil suggested he can trade it for another but each and every vehicle I test drove to replace my car was not ready to be on the road but according to them every car had just got out the shop. Instead of trying to have issues resolved the mechanics decide to make "jokes" as if your pain and suffering is a joke. Since I did not want a trade in and wanted my car fixed instead neil tried to tell me that this was my final offer which I declined because why not just fix my car? I went to talk to neil in person September 9, 2025 about getting my car fixed and the frustrations I am having because having to return the car weekly and I havent had it for a month is outrageous. [xxx] I was driving the Hyundai on the highway with my children in the car and the electricity to the car completely cut off but came right back on, I got off the highway and the car did it again and this time the wheel locked up and I almost wrecked the car. I called metcalf and the only thing they could tell me was they can tow my car to metcalf but me and my children had to find our own means of transportation. Every time I called to have my car serviced and told them about what I would hear and feel they could never make the car "do it again". I am beyond frustrated, upset and terrified because I have been telling them about smoking coming from the engine, rattling noise etc. My kids lives were put in danger and the only thing they could say was "I apologize and we can tow the car to the shop". Did not care if we had transportation and have never offered to give us any after continously getting stranded in the car. Now the car is towed to their shop once again and the car wouldnt even turn over for me to get it out of the middle of the street. I was blocking traffic and had to have the police block information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia).
Hyundai has a known issue with gdi fuel injectors. Car begins to shake and lose power and eventually will stall due to cylinder misfire caused by defective injectors.

Car would not go over 25 mph. Had to pull to side of the road. I had to turn the car off and on then it ran normal.
Car broke down first time about 2. 5 months ago. It was towed to fred beans Hyundai of doylestown PA and they did oil testing on it and I was told that the car was burning oil too fast. They told me under warranty they needed to do a carbon combustion cleaning. So that was down, and less than 24 hours of having the car back, the check engine light came back on, the car wouldn’t drive above 50 miles per hour, and was jumping forward (the same thing that happened the first time) I had the car towed back to the dealership and they told me there was still leftover carbon and it needed to cleaned out again. The car was fine for about 2 months, however just today it broke down again. Same problem, check engine light came on and started flashing, the car will not go above 50 mph and it jumps forward. I have now been given back a car that is unsafe to drive and put my family and 2 times. Clearly the dealership is not fixing the actual problem at hand and continues to put my family and I’s safety at risk. Each time the car has broken down I have been on the PA turnpike and been put in an extremely dangerous situation.
Electric,.
Car is burning through oil at a rate of 5l per week.
Every time I get the oil changed I have to add 2-5 quarts of oil in between changes. I had the catalytic converter replaced 3 years ago and now I have to do it again. I’ve had nothing but issues with this car and oil consumption. I shouldn’t need another catalytic converter again after only a few years. I’m doing my 3rd oil consumption test right now.
While driving to work on I-26 in the far left lane at approximately 55 mph, my vehicle suddenly and completely shut off without warning. The engine power was lost instantly, forcing the car to come to an abrupt stop in live interstate traffic. I had no prior indication of a problem—no warning lights, no messages, no abnormal performance. It took three attempts to restart the vehicle. When it finally restarted, the engine made a loud knocking noise, and the car could only move at a dangerously slow crawl. I had to cross multiple lanes of high-speed traffic to reach the right shoulder, nearly causing several accidents in the process. Other drivers had to brake hard and swerve to avoid colliding with me. This situation could have easily resulted in a multi-vehicle crash, severe injury, or death. After pulling over and shutting the vehicle off, I checked the oil dipstick and found it completely dry. The engine had failed with no warning whatsoever. The vehicle was later inspected at an independent service center and I was told the engine must be replaced, and that the vehicle is not safe to drive. I am now left without reliable transportation due to this sudden failure. This incident represents an extreme safety hazard. Losing all engine power in the far left lane of an interstate at highway speeds placed my life, and the lives of countless other motorists, in immediate danger. The outcome could easily have been catastrophic. To reiterate: the engine failed without any warning or indication, creating a life-threatening emergency situation. This is a critical safety defect that requires urgent investigation.
My engine has an oil consumption problem that I've been dealing with Hyundai on. The vehicle is a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. Last Friday [xxx] my car lost power on the freeway on a bridge and I began to slow down and couldn't pull over due to no shoulder. I had myself and my family in the car with me, (wife, [xxx] , [xxx] ) my car has failed two oil consumption tests and had a combustion chamber cleaning to try to resolve this issue. Now after losing power, the dealer has gone back on their word of engine replacement because Hyundai denied the claim. They are telling me the oil consumption lead to the catalytic converter getting plugged and losing power. The engine light for that has been on throughout all of the oil consumption testing (months) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I own a 2018 Hyundai Tucson with 87,000 miles that consumes about four quarts of oil per 1,000 miles. I first noticed the problem at 51,000 miles, despite regular maintenance. The issue has worsened, repeatedly damaging spark plugs and causing the car to seize. Hyundai has denied my request for a replacement engine because I am the second owner. I bought the vehicle at 26,000 miles, believing it carried the 100,000-mile warranty. I was never informed that coverage drops to 60,000 miles for second owners. I have maintained the vehicle with oil changes every 3,000 miles, yet it remains unsafe to drive long distances. This defect presents a serious safety risk, and Hyundai has not provided a resolution.

Fuel injector failure. Car was losing power completely when pressing the gas pedal then would suddenly catch and go again. Then go very slowly with little power, almost got into an accident because of the loss of acceleration. They replaced the fuel injectors and it is now happening a second time with the check engine light coming on again. A recall needs to be made! several of the same complaints on here!!!!!!!.
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 12:40 am, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson limited suddenly stalled while driving and became completely non-functional. The vehicle had about 25,000 miles at the time. This left me stranded on the highway in the middle of the night, creating a serious safety risk for myself and other motorists. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealer claimed the issue was caused by “carbon buildup” and stated that the problem would only be considered “repaired” if I paid for a fuel injection cleaning and fuel induction decarb service (about $500). These services are not listed in the Hyundai factory maintenance schedule, and no diagnostic evidence (photos, test results, or measurements) was provided to support the claim. Because the stall made the vehicle inoperable, I believe this should have been handled under warranty. Instead, I was pressured to pay for optional services in order to have the safety issue resolved. Safety risk: the vehicle stalled without warning at highway speed, placing myself and others at risk of collision. Based on the dealerhip this needed to be serviced every 20k miles and Hyundai deosnot recommend to consumers for some reason. .
My entire dashboard goes black and I lose all directions and functions in car. It happens when driving often. Additionally after taking to dealership, it's getting worse. Now warning lights come on and stay on such as master warning lights, batteries, power steering, etc. Ac shuts off, the car misses out when driving between 25 and 30 mph. The dealership told me it's not safe to drive.
I have regular oil changes (every 3k mi) and every time I go get say there’s no or low oil. At the beginning of July my engine coil in column 3 failed and I had all four coils and spark plugs replaced. Since the replacement my engine is still consuming a quart of oil per week.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Tucson. While the contact’s daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle before the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 83,500.
Loud knocking in the engine that increases or decreases with the rpm. Metal shavings found in the oil. Appears to be same issues described as active recall for 2017 Tucson’s, but no recall for this VIN. No alerts were or have been triggered within the car. This has not been brought to a dealership out of fear of seizing the engine.
My car has had an oil consumption problem for over a year that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge. I passed the oil consumption test because the oil burns rapidly when I have about 1,000 miles left before my next oil change. They have replaced my exhaust, catalytic converter, spark plugs, and oil release valve over the course of many visits. Every time I have the oil problem, they find something different to “fix” and I have to pay out of pocket. None of these have fixed the actual problem. The Hyundai representative I have been in contact with (after they reassigned my case to someone 3 different times - so it’s never the same person that is familiar with my case), told me there is nothing they can do to help me because the dealerships are independently owned. I am now out of warranty, although I originally brought my car there while it was still covered under warranty.
29 days after I bought a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle started making a ticking noise and stopped accelerating. I called the dealership and they said we didn't get a warranty. I said no that isn't correct, no warranty was offered and after seeing all the known engine problems I understand why ken ganley in medina wouldn't offer one. Now not even a month into having this vehicle, I have a brand new 5 year loan and a vehicle that won't move until I put a new engine in it and the dealership won't do anything for me. This is the worst experience I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.
Car has had shaking during acceleration and a noise (rattle/knock/tapping) from the engine for last 18 months. Dealer “could not find any issues” until July 31st 2025 when the engine broke down with a p1326 code (connecting rod bearing failure) and the engine seized. Vehicle is under class action class with extended 150k 15 year warranty on engine for this concern. Had recall performed for the knock sensor detection system as required by class action. Dealership first asked for most recent oil change record (provided) and than informed that Hyundai declined repairs due to full maintenance records not being submitted. Have now submitted full maintenance records to dealer and Hyundai directly since I purchased in 2023 as certified pre owned. All maintenance performed as per factory recommendations in manual. Hyundai still declining repairs without any explanation.
It's an engine failure. The car died in the middle of the rode at a traffic light with busy traffic flowing. It was confirmed by a independent service center. No one other an the independent service center has inspected it. There were no warning lamps or messages before failure.
Engine is consuming 3+ quarts per 1000 miles. There is no low oil warning light or notification, just a low oil pressure light which could be caused by many things that would not cause a vehicle fire like low oil would. Hyundai was contacted and we were told that all we need to do was get our oil changed with them, come back in 1000 miles to check the level, if it was consuming greater than 1 quart per thousand miles we would be scheduled for a combustion chamber cleaning (service tech said this would do nothing to solve the issue), drive 1000 more miles and check level again, and if it was greater than 1 quart per thousand we would be scheduled for a new engine. They were informed that we were the second owner and we were told that shouldn’t be an issue. After completing the oil change and going in after 1000 miles we were told that the engine consumed approximately 3 quarts of oil. That information was apparently submitted to Hyundai and they said we were not approved for the combustion cleaning because we were the second owner. The safety of the vehicle was not taken into account at all and Hyundai did not show any concern of vechile fires even though low oil is a contributing factor to many scenarios that can cause injury or death.
My engine stopped and locked up. It happened while I was driving on the highway/interstate. Yes it has been diagnosed by the dealership. There was no warning lights prior to the system failure.
While driving on highway going 65 mph my car 22 Hyundai Tucson sel dashboard lights turned red and shut off on the highway with no warning, was not able to put in park for 10 minutes. My safety was put at risk, the vehicle stopped mid drive on the highway with other vehicles. Dealership has not fixed or looked at the issue.
High oil consumption. Car shaking , sputtering, shutting off in traffic. Replaced spark plugs 3 times in a year. Having to top oil off every other week because there will not be any oil in engine. Stopped in traffic.
This unresolved issue has created serious safety risks. On two separate occasions, my vehicle lost power while crossing the leo frigo bridge in green bay—an extremely dangerous scenario for both my family and other drivers. Most recently, within just ~40 miles of picking up the vehicle from service, the issue recurred. The service department reported finding oil on the ignition coils—symptoms consistent with known and documented warranty concerns such valve cover gasket leaks spark plug tube seal failure high-pressure fuel pump gasket leaks the vehicle has been brought multiple times to a certified Hyundai dealership for recurring problems including power loss, poor engine performance, and excessive oil consumption. Despite these repeated service visits, the underlying issue has not been properly addressed. I have now been informed that I am responsible for diagnostic charges—even though the vehicle is covered under the txxm engine warranty extension / powertrain limited warranty due to known oil consumption-related defects.
My connecting rod came apart and went through the oil pan while I was on the highway. There were no engine or oil lights until the engine was already smoking and no longer accelerating luckily I was in the far right lane already and was able. To coast to safety. Hyundai is also refusing to honor my warranty. It requires a completely new engine. So this was a catastrophic engine failure with no warning.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the transmission failed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25-30 mph, the vehicle was making an abnormal rattling and knocking sound that was coming from the engine while accelerating. The transmission was shaking continuously while driving at 10 mph. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with camshaft and engine failure and needed a cam finish over an advanced timing system overhaul. The contact was informed that the camshaft, cvt, timing chain and tensioner, front valve cover and valve cover gasket, turbocharger, turbocharger gasket, and turbocharger lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
