Initial issues on vehicle presented in January 2021 with various check engine light codes including p0133. Although vehicle passed emissions in 2020, various check engine codes for mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors, misfire for various cylinders. After replacing indicated mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors indicated via obd ii tool, battery, alternator (more than once), both front cv boots, head gasket seals for both cylinder banks, more check engine light issues appear according to the vehicle. Currently another cylinder misfire check engine code has appeared after all spark plugs have been replaced with oem recommended brand replacements (nkg pre-gapped spark plugs). The misfire code has cleared at this time. The current check engine code from the obd ii tool is error code for drive train driveability p0420 regarding catalyst system operating below threshold at bank 1. I have utilized local store catalytic cleaner liquids to clean the system, which has not resolved this issue. Additionally, beginning in January 2021, the vehicle was taken to the closest local dealship for a large majority of these repairs including a $150 dealership fee just to have these codes reviewed and additional fees for the labor to address for each issue for each repair.

On 5/10/2020, check engine light went on, engine sputtered, we were able to exit freeway and pull over and by that time, car was shaking very hard. Towed to mechanic, car requires engine overhaul. Car then towed to Hyundai dealership, car needs a full engine rebuild. I have maintained my car with oil changes and the car has 100086 miles. There are numerous reports of failure of the theta ii 2. 4 liter engines, which my car has, yet no recall issues. Mechanic said parts alone will be around $6000 dollars, if you add labor it's probably more than the car is worth. I am concerned that there is a defect in the engine that poses a risk to life. A few months prior, this car also had a complete failure (lost all power) on the freeway.
Hyundai Tucson was being driven along us 290 in brenham texas when the check engine light came on. Driver pulled over and tried to restart. SUV would not restart. Vehicle was towed to Hyundai dealer who said the engine was perforated and "blown" and needed to be replaced. *** more information dealer says engine is perforated. This should be covered as it is a manufacture defect as detailed at consumer reports. . Read more...
Hello, I bought a used 2016 Hyundai Tucson eco less then a month ago from autonation that had only 40,000 miles on it. Within 2 weeks of buying the vehicle, the check engine turned on for a p259f trouble code for a turbocharger position sensor that I had got from using autonation's vehicle app. Naturally , I called autonation to have my car fixed, but the engine light had gone off before I brought my in vehicle in for repairs. When I did bring my vehicle in to the dealership, they confirmed that there was a check engine light on from my turbo, but that it had gone off and that the car was functioning normally, and to go to a Hyundai dealership for a special diagnostic if the issue consisted. On the same day of getting my car back, I started noticing engine performance issues, my acceleration would be affected by 1 to 2 seconds where the car would not go, and when it would finally notice the throttle it would jump kick the car. Also the worst of all, it also cut out at one point where it did not want to give any sort of throttle at all, I needed to have my foot all the way down on the pedal to just go 30 mph. During that time I noticed that the engine would be revving high while no speed was being gained, and no check engine lights where going off either. Because of that, I was almost involved in an accident where I could not accelerate out of an intersection when making a turn. What makes me believe this is the turbo electrical problem, is that the way I got my car to accelerate normally is that I parked it and restarted it, after that it started accelerating normally, but at times the acceleration would still be affected.
Was driving about 30 mph on a busy 4 lane street, my car stalled within a half a mile without any warning. After the engine stopped, my check engine light and oil came on. Was towed to mechanic where he stated engine died related to a piston bearing. My car had oil, but was due for an oil change. My car is been at Hyundai for a week with no answers or resolutions.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, when the began to hesitate. The contact stated she was depressing the accelerator pedal and would not go over 5 mph. The contact stated check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to independent mechanic, where diagnosed with needing the accelerator pedal position sensor, cam position sensor, upstream oxygen sensor to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to local dealer springfield Hyundai located at 754 baltimore pike, springfield, PA 19064, (866) 418-7587, where it was diagnosed with needing engine to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired as of yet. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v063000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 43,500. Dp.
Engine went off-time and lost all compression in each cylinder. Check engine light came on 3/8/19, car ran ok through 3/11/19, then had power issues. It would not start on 3/12/19 and has not been run since. Both a private mechanic and the local dealership confirmed the timing issue and the loss of compression. The car has 83k miles.
The problem I am having with my vehicle is that the engine stopped while I was driving down the road without any warnings at all. There was no check engine lights, no oil lights, or any sensors that popped up for that issue. This has been a known problem after doing some research with this engine. I had it towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed him with a engine problem and said the engine needed to be replaced. I had it then towed to a dealership Hyundai dealership and they have had my car for a week without giving me any information on what is actually wrong with the engine. I cannot receive a loaner car because it is out of warranty and my aftermarket warranty is still trying to investigate what is wrong with the engine and no one else is helping me. I've been out of work now for almost 2 weeks with no vehicle no explanation, but yet there are numerous complaints all throughout the internet about the engine for this vehicle. There is no engine available anywhere for this vehicle probably because of the known issue. They are telling me they will have to order it piece by piece if the warranty will cover it. I personally think there should be an inspection on these engines and a recall done because what has happened to me has been happening for years since the vehicle has at the market. I have read over 30 different complaints about the engine just dying and seizing while driving the car.

Started my car in the morning and it took a little longer to crank before starting. Drove it half a mile and kind of noticed decrease in performance then starting up a hill and just forget about it. Very very slow. At the top of the hill the check engine light popped on and at that point I was already looking for a safe place to pull over. Drove an additional 1/10th of a mile to pull over (mostly cruised since it was not working right) and turned the car off immediately. Called to get it towed and tried to turn it on. It sounded like the engine was clunking so I just stopped trying. At this point the Hyundai dealership is saying the timing chain is messed up and engine failure which is very very common with the Tucson. Had right above 67000 on the car.
While driving the Tucson walking dead edition we noticed that the engine was making a grinding noice and had trouble accellerating. We even tried to shift it and still had problems. We drove it right to the dealership and told them they had to check this out. The check engine light was even on. They called a couple days later and told me they have to replace the entire engine.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer at christian brothers automotive 129 east ralph hall pwky rockwall taxes 75032. The vehicle was diagnosed but the dealer stated that the engine could not be repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure millage was 80,570.
When slowing or idling the car will stall and come to a stop, unable to accelerate again. As the car stalls it becomes very difficult to steer and all the dashboard lights come on (check engine light, oil light, emergency break light, etc). This usually happens when I am slowing down to make a turn and has happened once on the highway. Very scary and dangerous to come to a sudden stop while trying to take an exit on the highway.
I have owned my 2017 Hyundai Tucson since 10/20/17. In the last year I have had it at the dealership 3x for the check engine light. Twice my vehicle had performance issues while entering the highway and acceleration. It is life endangering. When accelerating onto the highway, the engine loses speed. The rpm gauge starts going wacky, off the charts. It will rev to 5 rpm back down to 3 rpm and back & forth. When the foot is on the gas peddle trying to increase to highway speed, the engine will go to 45 mph. When one a highway where the speed limit is 70 mph, it becomes life threatening. When I finally reached a speed of 70, it would go for a short time and then decrease to 50 mph. Very scary. Twice it was in service for the same performance issue . The 2nd time they replaced boost sensor range. It works ok now. However, the shifting of the transmission is hard and seems to shift improperly. It too is tied to the acceleration. Hyundai that is the natural performance on the engine & transmission. The last check engine was an alternator failure. I have owned 3 Hyundai's. I have helped my daughter buy her 2 Hyundai's. My mother as well. I have never seen these kind of issues. Also the natural hydraulic closing on the back door is a real safety hazard. One day the door started closing while my body was half inside. There should be a sensor to detect when there is an object in the way. That too is caused for alarm in safety. These 2 issues that I have written about can & will cause death.

While merging onto the highway driving around 65-70 mph, the car's check engine light, oil level light and battery light all came on and the car powered down and lost all speed within a . 5 mile distance. After having it towed, the car now needs a new engine entirely due to faulty bearings that caused the car to seize while driving.

My car had unintended deceleration following crank sensor error. On freeway my car suddenly decelerated and I had to exit. Upon exit while diagnosing in the parking lot engine revved suddenly and car moved even though it was on neutral. All the fault codes were caught on torqueobd. However upon restarting the car check engine light is gone and it masks a serious problem in the car that can be life threatening.

I purchased this car November 8 2014 with 99 miles on it. We've had severe issues with it in the last year. We've had it to the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and they've been in communication with Hyundai in order to fix it. There was no solutions, just "try this & see if it works. " in July 2016 I started having medical issues, we've had issues with the vehicle not wanting to start. At first it wasn't wanting to start & then the check engine light came on. We took it to our local dealership and there was a recall on it for the exhaust system, they claimed that was the issue. So that recall was preformed and the light went off. Low and behold the issue was not corrected, the car still had episodes where it would not start. The issue was not something the service department could re-create. Second trip to the dealership for the same issue and they replaced the inhibitor switch, and that also has not worked. Now the check engine light is on again but the code is coming back as the purge valve. The car currently has no power and feels as if the motor could die at any second. I travel away about twice a month for various specialist doctor appointments. My vehicle has left me stranded there several times. I no longer feel my vehicle is safe or dependable for myself or any of my 3 children to be transported in it. I have contacted the Hyundai company directly but no response from them as of yet. For a 2015 model vehicle this may issues is ridiculous!! my husband and I are very disappointed and will never own another Hyundai vehicle!.
While driving the car at 55 mph, the engine died completely and I lost all control of the cars functions. It could not be that the battery died, since even though the car would not start back up, the lights, navigation and radio we all still on and working. I though it was a strange and dangerous situation but figured it was a one time occurrence. This happen on September 9th of 2016. Since then, the car has died while in motion 4 more times, becoming more frequent after each occurrence. I took my car in to the dealership where I purchased it and they kept it overnight. I already had someone at an advanced auto parts store test my battery, alternator and starter, and all of those checked out fine. I should also mention that whenever the car did die while I was driving, there was no warning that it was going to die and no check engine lights came on before after it would die. The vehicle would always start up again after waiting a few minutes. I have been lucky that each time it has happened I was not on the highway or in any danger of hitting someone, but I guess I was just lucky for that. After testing the car, I was informed by the dealership that they could not find anything wrong with the car and their testing of the computer revealed that no problems had occurred. This is most likely due to no warning lights coming on when it happened so when they tested it, nothing appeared saying the car had died. They were totally fine with giving me the car back after not being able to diagnose the problem, even after I told them they are allowing me to get behind the wheel of a dangerous vehicle. I was able to drive home from the dealership yesterday and to work today without experiencing any new problems so I am hoping that the issue has been resolved somehow. If this happens again I know I will not be bringing it back to that service center.
I recently reached 115000 miles on my Tucson. It started 2 weeks ago, the alternator needed to be replaced for higher output than it should. It caused the vehicle not to start since it wouldn't hold a charge. Once replaced, the engine light came on again not long after so I took it into a shop. They found that I needed to replace two of the cam shaft sensors. A couple of days ago, drivingmy husband and kids, the rmp gauge went out and the vehicle would not accelerate. Once stopped and restarted, the rpm gauge re-engaged and drive fine. No engine light came on. Driving home today, 66 miles away from home on interstate 78 in new jersey, the rmp gauge went out again. I pulled over on the shoulder, put on my flashers and shut off the vehicle. I waited about 5 minutes and was able to restart the vehicle, this time the check engine light engaged. I was a few miles from my exit, and the rmp gauge again went out, at this point, I was not able to accelerate the vehicle and there were tractor trailers all around me. While reviewing other Hyundai issues, I see other models having similar issues, yet no recall for the Tucson. I am now not only fearful of driving it, engine light or not, but do not have reliable transportation to work.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated multiple times. In addition, the push to start failed intermittently to start or shut off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an unknown code registered and corrected itself however, the failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
I purchase this vehicle on October 3,2014, two weeks later the check engine light came on. Took it to the Hyundai dealer three times within that month for the same problem in which each time they were able to solve this issue (so we thought). On December 11,2014 a lil over two months later, the check engine light is now on again? taking the vehicle back to dealer today for check engine light and also to check front suspension, the drive on this vehicle has always felt very unstable and unsafe to me and with it being the winter months my safety as well as others is a must! very unsatisfied owner of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson, have not as of yet gotten a secure or comfortable drive out of this vehicle since purchase, far more the worst vehicle I have ever owned.
