Car has stalled multiple times and have taken it to the mechanic multiple times. Every time the mechanic could not figure out the issue. So this final time took it to someone else and was told there is metal shavings from the engine and the engine will need to be replaced. The engine has less than 115000. 00 miles on it. All oil changes have been done and maitenance has been kept on this vehichle. I have researched and see this engine is the same engine that was placed in other Hyundai's and kias. This engine should also be part of that recall!!!.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson which has a 120k on it and I thought I might have needed a tune which I got performed. But it turns out that the engine has compression failure on cylinders 2 and 3. The oil was changed regularly so I'm not sure what happen. Since I was driving home and the vehicle started stalling.
I have done a significant amount of research and found that the Hyundai Tucson has three potential problems that cause the issues with the stalling/low power on takeoff. I believe that part of it might be the transmission not engaging properly in 1st gear and that should be something they can fix with a computer update. The second from what I've read is that the fuel tank has a material flaking off on the inside of the fuel tank causing the fuel filter to be damaged/clogged. The third and from what I have read, the reason some of the Tucsons fail is a bad crank shaft. My guess is that the bad crank shaft happens over time and that the problems start with the fuel clogs. The fuel system needs to be examined to ensure that the "flaking off" material defect inside the tank is not the cause of the fuel filter being clogged and eventually the car fails. The loss of power is scary and dangerous and must be resolved. Wouldn't it be cheaper if Hyundai replaced all the fuel tanks on the cars with one that doesn't have a defective material coated on the inside of them rather than replace motors and keep doing work on them over and over and over?.
Car constantly hesitates when starting to accelerate. When you begin to accelerate from a stop, the car hesitates for several seconds before beginning to move. This is very dangerous when making turns at stop lights or in intersections. Going at highway speed the car runs fine and accelerates without issue. The problem is when at slow speeds or at a stop and you need to accelerate. Also, when going slow or slowing down to a stop, the car sees like it is going to stall and the engine/transmission begins to jerk as if it is about to stall. When driving through a parking lot at slow speeds with some quick on/off breaking, the car hesitates and feels like it is going to stall.

When accelerating after stopping, the gas pedal will be pushed down but car will stall and not go. The engine will rev up, but the car does not move and then all of a sudden will accelerate forward. Also, when coasting in rush-hour, accelerating after a stop sign, the car will make jerking movements. It has been taken to a Hyundai dealership where they told me it is a dual-transmission so I just need to be more aggressive with it when taking off from stop light/stop sign. I know that this is not normal and most definitely needs to be revisited as there have obviously been enough complaints and has been an issue previously.
Sporadic hesitation when starting to pull out into traffic. Feels like it is about to stall but if you pump the gas pedal it then responds. Each time this happens it is unsettling to say the least.

On six different occassions my vehicle has stalled out while reaching speeds of up to 50mph. I have taken it back to the dealership on 3 separate occasions to be told there is nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle. On 8/25/3020 it stalled again and caused me to be rear ended. I am terrified to operate this vehicle on public road ways now.

Driving along the interstate when engine had reduced engine power for a moment, then stalled around 70mph. Made it to an exit ramp luckily. Engine hesitated to restart, once it did start engine started knocking and had next to no power. Towed to Hyundai dealer, Hyundai dealer stated that Hyundai has had major problems with these engines and Hyundai should cover it fully. Dealership proceeded to pull oil pan and valve cover without our consent and with no communication for days. Confirmed the engine was bad, metal shavings in oil pan, rod bearings failed. Common problem. Waiting on Hyundai for approval. Service advisor quit, we were informed 6 days later that Hyundai is only willing to cover 65% of cost and we would have to pay 35% ($3,500. 0) out of pocket. We refused to pay; they stated we would have to pay diagnosis, but they ended up waiving that. Technicians did not fully secure oil pan or valve cover. Oil under car where it was parked, have photos and videos to back this claim up. Have rental car and many tow bills in to the mix now. Why would the dealer tell us Hyundai fully cover this but they dont? we need this issue fixed. Many other Tucson owners deal with the same problem, with the same engine as the other cars, but theirs get replaced free or charge and expenses paid by Hyundai.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate after a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to mccarthy olathe Hyundai 681 n rawhide, olathe, KS 66061 where they diagnosed the vehicle with a loose drain plug. Due to the damage caused by the loose drain plug, the contact was informed that the entire engine would have to be replaced. The contact then notified the manufacturer of the failure. After an extensive investigation, the manufacturer deemed the failure to have been caused by the negligence of her independent mechanic who serviced her vehicle for oil changes. The manufacturer denied to honor her warranty. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 47,110. Jo.
When you are stopped at a light and it changes to green you step on the gas and the car bucks like it is going to stall. This also happens when you start the car up and put it in drive give it gas and it bucks. U have to give it more gas to make it drive hopefully it will not just stall. I think this could be a transmission problem. This happens all the time.
The contact owned a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 20-25 mph down a road preparing to merge, the vehicle stalled and continued to roll forward. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle but failed. The contact noticed white smoke and stopped the vehicle by engaging the emergency brake. The contact gathered some of her belongings as the smoke turned gray and got 20 feet away from the vehicle. There were flames noticed coming from under the hood. A bystander attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher meanwhile the fire department arrived to the scene. The fire department extinguished the fire. The contact sustained post traumatic stress disorder due to the incident. A police report was filed. The contact also mentioned that her child would ride in the rear of the vehicle and the safety seat was destroyed during the fire. The child was not present at the time of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v226000 (engine) by route 2 Hyundai dealer (743 north main street, leominster, MA 01453, (978) 534-9999) in may of 2019 due to the initial failure in January of 2019 where the engine blew up. The dealer replaced the engine, but the failure reoccurred which lead to the entire vehicle catching on fire most recent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The failure mileage was 118,000. The VIN was unknown.
Car stalls and hesitates at stops and acceleration. . Lack of acceleration from stop or slowing down. Lack of power at crucial driving periods. Condition creates dangerous circumstances.
Recently bought 2016 Hyundai Tucson limited and the car has 29,000 miles on it. When in traffic and remove my foot from the brake the car with shake as it is about to stall out and then finally kick in and start moving forward normally. I've tried to pull out into traffic and had the car stall for a second before going forward. I don't feel safe pulling out unless I have enough time for the other car to stop just in case the car does stall out. I was told by the deal that the good news is the car is supposed to act like this. Dealers seem to know about this issue but since the computer doesn't throw up a flag they don't do anything about it.
The car stalled. When I got it running the engine is making a loud knocking.
When accelerating from an idle position, car struggles to shift gears automatically. When making a turn, usually left turn, vehicle stalls and struggles to accelerate making it very dangerous.
My vehicle stalls when I hit the gas. Has trouble switching gears.
Driving about 25 mph turning into a parking lot the vehicle jerked forward, then just stalled. I barely got it off the road and finally had bystanders help push me off. It was towed to local Hyundai dealer and after review, they stated something about debris melted and got into the engine, which destroyed the engine. Was under full warranty and now it's been 30 days I've been without my vehicle.
My vehicle stalls to accelerate. When I hit the gas it will stall to move, it's dragging very slow. This is very scary when I'm driving and my SUV slows down when other cars are driving fast behind me.
My son was driving on the highway with his 2014 Hyundai tuscon and his car stalled. We had the car towed to a dealer and they said the engine threw a rod. They have said it needs a complete engine. When I have conducted other research on this type of car I have found numerous examples of the same situation happening.
This has happened on three occasions, when sitting idle and about to accelerate to turn into traffic, my car has stalled, shook and almost stopped. In one instance my car was in park when I stopped to take something out of my vehicle. Upon putting in drive, the engine revved and but did not move the vehicle. Two times almost resulted in an accident with my children in the vehicle!! these instances happened this week, dating 8/17/12019 - 8/19/2019 at approx 23,000 miles on the odometer. Once in our residential neighborhood, once on a very busy 4 lane highway.
The vehicle stalls while, from a stop, trying to merge into traffic. It seems to be a well known issue with this vehicle and the dealer told me just learn how to drive it. We have almost been hit several times due to this defect and my wife refuses to drive the Tucson. Hyundai too knows of this issue and has had no recall for this issue. I understand there has also been law suits for the lemon law against this vehicle but, the deep pockets of Hyundai's corporate lawyers always wins out. Do people have to become seriously injured or perhaps dead before a recall happens? the date below reflects the last time I was almost hit because the car started to move and then stopped.
I leased a 2017 Tucson intending to buy at the end. Over the past year and a half, with about 29,000 miles on it, I have had six different occasions where I pull out onto my busy 50 mph road and the vehicle will not move. It's almost as if it had stalled or slipped into neutral, no matter how soft or hard you step on the gas. Each occasion my son and I have come within seconds of being hit by dump trucks, tractor trailers, or other roadway vehicles. The dealership service says it's the dual clutch system, but cannot find anything wrong, they've reset the parameters to factory settings, but it does not fix the problem. Not to mention the ac just went on it out of nowhere. I am 16 months out from the lease termination, and feel so unsafe driving this vehicle due to the fact I have come within seconds of getting rear ended by dump trucks, then having the car buck forward and red line. Handfuls of customers have complained about this vehicle, but nothing will be done to address this until a family or person winds up seriously injured or dead. Unfortunately, my husband and I are at a crossroads deciding if breaking the lease would be better than winding up in a coffin, either way it'll cost a significant amount of money on our end.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 70-80 mph, the vehicle stalled and shook. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. They popped the hood of the vehicle and the engine was on fire. The contact extinguished the fire with their own water bottle. No police report was made. Their were no injuries. However, the contact did receive bruises from sliding down a mountain hill in search for water to extinguish the fire. The contact didn't know if the vehicle was totaled. Their waiting for new from their insurance. The contact took the vehicle to . Where the vehicle was left, they are waiting to make a decision on weather they will keep it or not. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was now waiting for information from Hyundai. They gave the manufacturer evidence from the fire. The failure mileage was 90,000. The fire was not in relation to any recall. Jw.
My 2011 Hyundai Tucson stalled while driving on a busy city road . I was going straight with 40 miles/hour when my vehicle suddenly lost power for unnown reason, and started slowing down, then completely stopped. The engine stopped, gas pedal was not responding. The check engine, oil pressure, and battery light came on at the same time when car stalled. Battery is a couple of months old, everything seem to operate normally except the vehicle does not start. Fortunately I was able to pull over to a turning lain to avoid any accident and called my insurance company to have the vehicle towed to safety. I have received a recall letter from Hyundai a few months ago, and immediately called the nearest Hyundai dealer to have the vehicle checked. The representative said they do not have the parts yet and they will contact me as soon as the parts are available. I have yet to receive a call and now my vehicle stalled. It is inoperable.
