36 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

Bought certified 2016 Hyundai Tucson turbo ltd with eco and dual clutch transmission. I've had it for 5 days. I bought it for my son and daughter to attend high school. The car kept acting like it was going to stall at every stop, it kept stuttering, and when you are accelerating and take your foot off the pedal the rpms keep rising, and doesn't switch gears. It refs and rpm goes up but it doesn't switch gears up or down shift either. The engine revs high and won't switch gears. It's like it wants to accelerate when you want it to slow down and when stopped it wants to stall. Today it happened. We came to a stop so we could turn left onto an onramp on highway, (have to cross over other lane to go on on ramp), and it stuttered and stalled on opposite oncoming traffic side, before we could reach the ramp. My son was driving and I was in front seat and daughter was in back seat, I got scared, as you can't see what coming over the hill on side we stalled (oncoming traffic). The guy saw we had stalled and ran out and started waving something down. It was an oncoming semi. Thankfully he was able to redirect him or we would have been struck. We got the car started again and were able to get home. I looked up what had happened and saw that there was a mass recall of my exact car model, in the exact time frame of vehicle being made. The recall was for the exact things that are and did happen to us. I contacted the dealer and asked them why they never divulged this information and they said the didn't know. I read on the NHTSA site that my exact SUV, made the same date, Hyundai had recalled, but mine for some reason is not. Problem is when I put my VIN in, nothing comes up for a recall. I don't want to put my kids back in this car. I just dropped $24,000 5 days ago in a car loan. Please help.

37 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

When I am in a complete stop my engine/transmission feels like it wants to stall or misfire. When I take off it keeps jumping because it has no power. I almost get in a accident everytime I stop and take off again. I have taken it to universal Hyundai 2 separate times for the same issue and they told me nothing is wrong with it. It is suppose to do that. I drove 10 other SUV the same as mine and had no issue and had good power. This is a major safety issue and almost got into about 7 accidents with it because it feels like no power or vacuum or anything. Idk how to explain. If I slow down but not stop then push the gas to get speed again the car bounces like it is miss firing or transmission went bad.

So I purchased my car March of 2019. It first started off really good but than a few months later the car has been having a issue with keeping oil I had it checked numerous times and no one seems to find the issue. I could literally get oil changed and within three four weeks my engine is empty and sound really rough. The car stalls and my rpm goes up out of the blue as if I hit the gas. I'm even having a issue with take off for it to be a brand new car my car take forever to pick up speed and some times it act as if it don't want to move.

42 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

Takata recall : I have to drive 47 miles on a fast paced highway in southern florida in order to get to my job, daily. Multiple times a week I experience a stall while traveling at high speeds on the highway. I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership recently and they did not even know about the upcoming recall. For months, I have been having to drive my car and feel unsafe. I have to go to work, and I do not have another vehicle option. I feel unsafe and am incredibly upset that Hyundai has not found a resolution yet. If this problem is not fixed soon I will be forced to get another vehicle, regardless of my financial situation. My next vehicle will not be a Hyundai, solely because of the amount of time this recall resolution is taking.

43 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/04/2019

On Saturday may 4, 2019, my son was on guard duty at vmi and he lent his car to his close friend and roommate to attend a family event in arlington, va. After about 100 miles on the road while matt agnew was driving it on interstate 81 going north, the car started to slow suddenly, and the engine and gas light came on the dashboard, with no other earlier warning. He had to scan the area quickly to make sure other drivers were paying attention as he was quickly dropping below the minimum speed limit. This same thing was happening to multiple car owners of this make/model year. The car downright stop running in the middle of the interstate, with no warning. This put my son's long-time friend and room mate at risk! every service and tow station within 60 miles of harrisonburg were busy or closed. This sudden stall issue was known on 2/5/2019 and with your systems knowing the current owner, address, and my vehicle #, there is no excuse for not alerting me! I have incurred additional towing fees because I had my son's friend towed to the closest residential area off the highway where there was a local service station. Come to find out after they did a once over the car, that there were metal shavings in the oil and the tech had to hand-crank the engine to get it started. In other words, it met all the criteria for this issue known by Hyundai. I have had my vehicle regularly serviced at the Hyundai dealer service twice in December 2018, November 2018, and many other times before this. Nothing was ever mentioned to me about this deficiency. I have called and sent email and letters asking Hyundai to repair this known manufacturer defect. Every place near the tow address was closed. I drove above the speedlimit as it was hot and humid and they were not in airconditioning.

44 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Campaign181. There is a recall that can cause engine damage that could lead to a high-speed stall, increasing the risk of a crash. It could also increase the risk of a vehicle fire. There is no solution. My vehicle is unsafe. I drive 60 miles per day to and from work. I do not feel safe in my vehicle.

45 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/27/2019

Driving car with 80k miles on it 10 days after dealer oil change and service. Going 50 mph down 4-lane hwy. When engine stopped. I wasn't braking or accelerating. Fortunately I was in right lane and could pull over, rare on that road. Had to have towed to nearest dealer (not the one who serviced it). Dealer said $5700 to rebuild engine due to thrown rod. Talked to service mgr. Where oil change done and he said this was a known defect in the engine of 2010-2013 Hyundai and that Hyundai would fix at no cost to me and cover cost of loaner. I'm not original owner but he said that wouldn't matter since this was a recall issue. Called the number I was given for consumer affairs and was told they talked to dealership where car was towed and my warranty claim was denied. Advised I wasn't putting in a warranty claim and this was a known defect. As stated on the tape you get when you call consumer affairs, this is a known defect with the oil pan that can cause engine damage including causing a high speed stall. The tape states the recall has been "announced but not launched. " they are fully aware there is a problem, one that could have been fatal for me, and I am getting the runaround. The consumer affairs rep finally assigned me a case number and said someone would call in 3-5 days. They did not, so I called. That person returned my call and told me my warranty claim had been denied. I advised, again, now 8 days later and nearly 2 weeks without a car, that it was not a warranty issue. She said she would check and get back to me but she knew nothing about "campaign 181," which is this issue. Despite additional calls by me she had not called back. I've contacted Hyundainationalcustomercare@hmausa. Com and received no reply. They should implement a recall immediately before someone is killed. They should repair my vehicle and be thankful no one was killed.

46 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/26/2019

Engibe stalled on the highway, almost killed me.

47 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/13/2019

I received a recall notice (campaign 181) in April 2019, the notice recommended that I take my vehicle to be looked at, I scheduled the appointment and on the way to the dealer ship the car suffered a high-speed stall, fortunately I was able to get off the busy road with no incidents. I had my vehicle towed to the dealer ship at my own expense. The stall was exactly what they said could happen to my vehicle on the recall notice. Now 18 days later there has been no resolution, the recall is not being completed in a timely manner. Hyundai said I could pay for the repair myself and if the recall remedy covered it I could apply to be reimbursed. I do not have the ability to cover the repair myself and I am wary they would follow through with any sort of reimbursement. They have also not offered a rental vehicle.

When driving the vehicle on a five hour trip, the engine suddenly became very noisy. Following evaluation by the dealership it was determined that the engine has a failed rod bearing. 55 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

Dual clutch transmission (dct) / 1. 6t engine start from stop acceleration stuttering, stalling occurs from initial take offs, while idling in stop/go traffic creates potentially dangerous drive/passenger situation in traffic especially when crossing traffic patterns and lane merging/passing. Issue has been brought to the attention of Hyundai corporate and two local Hyundai dealerships. Both parties indicate lack of knowledge on how to properly drive dct transmission and provided both video and written training packages. Both training mechanisms failed to resolve the issue. Supposed software updates by the leasing dealership failed to resolve the issue also. Issue is still active and latest visit to dealership failed to find any issues with no repairs or software updates taking place. Senior technician indicated Hyundai leadership at corporate are acutely aware of issue but choosing to not act accordingly/appropriately.

56 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

My vehicle seems to stall/hesitate when accelerating from a full stop. I have the 1. 6 turbo automatic transmission which I understand has a software glitch that can delay acceleration from when the car is stationary. This occurs quite often when proceeding when light turns green--dangerous when making a left turn & in a precarious position multiple times with oncoming traffic. Brought car to dealer w/complaint but they did not make any adjustments or corrections. Told me to "live with it. " unacceptable! please help.

58 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/03/2018

I have a 2016 Hyundai tuscon ltd. 1. 6 turbo, with a dual clutch transmission (dct). I love this vehicle's design, features, and specs. This car would be fantastic if it were not for the hazardous, defective, and dysfunctional dual clutch transmission. October of 2016 NHTSA had Hyundai to issue a recall and in 2017 a computer software update. Neither has fixed the (dct) issue. From a complete stop or a slow rolling stop, the vehicles' transmissions lag, shudder, buck, hesitate, and lurches forward shifting between the first couple of gears. At its worst it seems to stall then propel forward uncontrollably. After the 2nd gear the transmission transitions smoothly. This safety hazard comes into play when drivers are attempting to merge onto the highway or traffic. Espically when attempting to time and shoot a gap in the flow of traffic. The vehicle may or may not accelerate effectively or at all. This unpredictable performance is extremly dangerous and liable to cause or continue to cause accidents. The only way to avoid this issue is to drive the vehicle in "sport mode!" the dct issue seems to only affect "eco" and "regular" driving modes. There are hundreds of complaints and testimonies revolving around the dct problem. It is a known problem with consumers, dealerships' service departments, and Hyundai consumer affairs. After the intial recall and software updates on the dct problems, the vehicles still demonstrate the same poor and defective dct performance. Now the service departments and Hyundai consumer affairs are no longer acknowledging the dct defect. They simply reply that the issue was recalled and fixed in 2016 and 2017 and that "the car is performing the way it was designed to," despite the clear and apparent design flaw! Hyundai is making it clear to the consumers that they will not revisit nor take accountabilty of the faulty dual clutch transmission.

59 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

While driving I have noticed that when I begin to accelerate after a complete stop my car jerks forward and doesn't catch. It's almost as if the vehicle stalls before moving forward, this happens when moving forward or reversing from a complete stop. I haven't been able to get a response to the issue from the dealership though I've let them know there is an issue multiple times over the past 3 months.

60 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

While vehicle is being driven, in motion on a street and needing to accelerate, especially when making a turn, often the accelerator pedal will seem to stall or falter when being depressed, causing the vehicle to slow, then the pedal continues downward and the vehicle lurches forward. Hyundai service advisor on July 6, 2018 politely said "all Tucson turbo models do this, no problem". To me this is scary. Does NHTSA think likewise and could there be a safety issue?.

61 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/15/2018

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. Ah.

62 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

Vehicle frequently, intermittently, stalls during take off from a stop. When accelerating from a stop sign or traffic light vehicle will simply roll as if it is freely rolling in neutral but is not receiving any power or acceleration from the engine for approximately 3 to 5 seconds before engine/drivetrain engauges and vehicle accelerates. This creates an extreme safety hazard when you have the vehicle in an intersection and accelerate to make a left turn in a gap in traffic and end stuck in the intersection or in front of an oncoming vehicle because the vehicle is only rolling and not accelerating. This issue has been reported to Hyundai USA corporate who has chosen not offer any remedy and has it stated to me this is a "characteristic of my vehicle. ". Hyundai USA has continually referred me back to the dealership, who does not have a fix for this issue. Hyundai USA has even place the blame for this issue on the dealership. However the issue here is that Hyundai USA engineers have not admitted to having this problem or created a fix to this problem to roll out to the dealership to allow them to remedy this problem. This identical issue has been reported and issued as a recall in prior models of this vehicle, yet Hyundai refuses to do anything on this model.

63 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Due to the dual clutch transmission, my vehicle shakes and stalls when trying to push on the gas and accelerate. The engine loses power and I'm stepping on the accelerator while my whole vehicle shakes and maybe goes forward about two feet over 20 seconds before it will actually start moving like it should, often times leaving me in an unsafe position if this happens while making a left hand turn and gaging when I can safely proceed through oncoming traffic.

64 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 03/09/2018

At various times during driving the car's engine will feel like there's no power or no gas and will go into a stall. This has happened both during accelerating from a stop going into traffic and during driving and accelerating. I have inquired at the dealership(fucillo Hyundai) and the service department suggested to use 93 octane, that was almost a year now and still happens sporadically. This is a very unsafe condition especially while pulling into traffic and the car goes into a "stall". Researching blogs this is happening to other owners and is not isolated to me.

65 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to new holland Ford (508 w. Main st, new holland, PA) where it was diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

66 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

No acceleration from a stop, rolls back when at a stop of any incline, lunges forward after a stop since the transmission is not working properly. In every mode it does the same, they did a software update a few months ago, but it did not help at all. My daughter goes to college out of state and is always very nervous about driving her car. I am nervous as a parent so far away. This is very dangerous and they need to fix it. The car has been in 3 times to note it in the file, when she gets back this may we are hoping to have it bought back for something else. When in traffic, the stalling is even worse. She has almost hit cars in front of her since there is so much hesitation in the engine and transmission.

67 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Car engine/transmission stalls, lags, hesitates, jumps and chugs when gas is pressed from a stopped position or in slow stop and go traffic. When pressing on the gas pedal the engine/trans does not engage and move the car. After a few seconds the car will engage and jerk, and jump. The hesitation makes the car feel like it is going to stall out. Very dangerous situation. I am afraid every time I get in the car to drive. This has been going since the day bought the car.

68 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/20/2017

When taking corners in the city I can't accelerate the car just revs for about 15-30 seconds and won't move. I have to try to pull over to get off the road. Also when accelerating from a stop the rpm's like to shoot up but the car won't take no gas. I have almost been hit twice because of this problem. Hyundai just says learn how to drive it. Learn what how to stall?.

69 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/18/2017

I had taken my tuscon in 3 different times for all the same issues every time (1) delayed acceleration from a complete stop while crossing oncoming traffic with my 2 yr old son in the car (2) not accelerating at all from a complete stop but the rpm's revving high before finally jerking into gear and taking off and (3) jerking when I am in traffic and I press the gas. All 3 times, the "repair" was explained to me as a "computer update". The car would drive fine for about a week, then the issues would resume. The service dept told me this is how the dct works. Then I saw that there was finally a recall being issued and I thought "OH yay! they finally figured out what the problem was so I can take it in this one last time and I'll be good to go!" after only one day we were back to the same issues. The service dept once again said that "unfortunately, computer updates will be a normal thing for this dct system" are you freakin' kidding me?! this is not normal! you mean to tell me that every time my car starts stalling while I am crossing oncoming traffic, potentially causing an accident that could cause my son, myself or someone else serious injury, if not death, that I need to bring it in for a "computer update"?? they also suggested that I try driving it in sport mode all the time or using the manual shifter to see if that would help with the hesitation and/or stalling and jerking. If I wanted to shift, I would have bought a manual. When I press the gas, I want to go. I don't want to worry that this might the time that the transmission doesn't quite engage in time while I'm crossing traffic and something serious/fatal happens. I am extremely unhappy with this car, I am extremely unhappy with the dealership and their passive attitude towards this ongoing issue but most of all, I feel extremely unsafe in this vehicle and no one seems to be taking that seriously.
