Hyundai Tucson 2. 0l (nu gdi) is leaking engine oil between engine and transmision. Vehicle previously had the same condition and it was sent to dealership around November 2019, they removed the transmission and installed a new crankshaft oil seal. Previous oil change maintentance was done by a Hyundai dealer and they didn't notify the issue. Now when I checked the engine and touched the area, I got engine oil. Now I will check how I can send the car to the dealership because I'm having issues with the warranty of the car because if I go to another Hyundai dealership and they check that the car wasn't bought with them, they gime me a extremelly long date to check the car after that they won't fix. Also they don't like to get warranty claims or recalls during weekends. And to make matters worse the dealer where I bought it brand new and completed the warranty claim (crankshaft seal) has changed the ownership and they say that the car records doesn't appear in their systems. I would never buy another car from this company again.

I had my vehicles oil change completed 3/17/21. On 3/31/21 my vehicles oil light displayed as having no oil. I immediately called and went back to the oil change center I've gone to for the 3 years I've owned the vehicle. They assured me there was no leak. I looked up the issue on the internet only to find I am one of many with this issue. I can't afford to pay for engine repairs especially when I've been consistent with my oil change maintenance. Hyundai needs to be held accountable and make these repairs or buy back the vehicles like Volkswagen had to do a few years ago.

Car is using more than one quart of oil per 1,000 miles. Car is not leaking oil and oil changes are done at the dealership every 3500 miles. Having to check oil levels constantly and keep quarts of oil in car to fill in case it is low. Hyundai st augustine dealership says there is not a problem.
Driving 60 mph down the highway, the vehicle lost power completely and the engine light came on. It had to be towed from the shoulder and the mechanic said the engine was cracked despite it's low mileage and no warning prior to the breakdown, it also wasn't due for an oil change for a few weeks yet. The day it broke down was pouring rain so I was unable to see any possible oil or other liquid leaking out due to the weather.

I was driving my vehicle down my street when the engine died. Right before it died, I heard a brushing noise and then all the lights illuminated on the dash. There were no other warning noises or lights prior to engine failure. I checked the oil dipstick and there was no oil registering on it. The smear that was on the stick was black. The check engine or low oil light never came on to warn me of a potential problem. There is also no oil on my driveway which would indicate a slow leak. It was towed to the dealer where they told my the engine was dead and I needed a new one. This is not covered under the 10yr. /100,000 mile powertrain warranty since I bought this (a year ago) from a friend who was the original owner. It has approximately 89,000 miles on it now. I'm thankful I was in my neighborhood when the engine failed and not on the interstate where I had been moments prior to this incident. It is still at the dealership where I have been quoted $7-9k for an engine replacement. They have offered $2,800 for a trade-in towards another vehicle as an option.
On Nov. 4 2020 at 2pm, while driving on f8 east freeway entering the turn onto ca125, my 2015 Hyundai Tucson's engine blew without warning. The dash lights lit as the car lost power the hood blew open and shut and my 31yr old daughter was forced to allow the car to glide to the side of the freeway. In a dangerous spot. . She could not see in front of the car until the hood fell back down. The danger is the fact there were no previous warnings, the hood blew up and the car had stopped where there was not sufficient space for other cars to pass without tapping my side mirror and a huge trail of oil left behind. She got over to the passenger seat quickly and rolled down the windows since it was hot out. First she called emergency roadside assistance to tow the car off the freeway. They took over 2 hrs to arrive . While many cars drove quickly by barely missing my car. She called me next in fear of her life and then called her dad and he stayed on the phone with her until the tow arrived . I only have had this car for 1 year. I had an oil change on June 23, 2020 from reg oil to a synthetic blend. Upon calling Hyundai customer care it was suggested to tow the car to the nearest dealer for investigation to see if its covered by warranty. The engine is severely damaged the bearings were destroyed and a rod thrown. The oil filter was blown off. My car had no previous leaks. There is a class action against Hyundai/kia for my cars year but with theta 1 and !! engines. Mine is a gasoline direct engine that also has problems per car complaints. Com. What also makes this particularly dangerous is that I use this car frequently to transport my 11yr old disabled grandson to rady children's hospital for medical appts since he has cerebral palsy and poor head and neck control. Something like this could have not only snapped his neck but also cause massive fatalities on the freeway. .

Oil leaking from engine, when car is stationary it begins to shake.
Hyundai 2018 had a oil leak issue due to a faulty oil pan. The oil pan was sealed by the dealership. This did not seem to fix the issue causing the oil to drain on the freeway and seize the engine. I was coasting on the freeway with no power from the engine. We were scared for our dear lives.

On July 4, 2019 I was driving and my vehicle suddenly broke down while driving about 60mph in manahawkin NJ on rt. 72. I have not had any issues leading up to this. I had to have the vehicle towed. Since the nearest Hyundai dealership was closed b/c of the holiday I had it towed to mr. Tire. They at first thought it was the alternator then the starter, but then decided it was an engine issue. I then had it towed to the dealership and they confirmed it was an engine failure and it would be covered under warranty. However it took a few weeks to even get that determination. Then I was told that parts were on back order and it would be a minimum of 3 months. After weighing options I decided to sadly trade in the vehicle. On September 9, 2019 I received a recall notice on the car (NHTSA recall #: 19vx-063; Hyundai recall #: 181) for oil leak that could lead to engine damage, stalled engine, risk or crash or fire. I am very upset that I am just receiving this recall now and the incident could have been prevented. Luckily I was not on a very busy road at the time of the break down but it could have very well put me in a dangerous situation.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Tucson and took his vehicle into the dealer phil long Hyundai of motor city 170 w motor way, colorado springs, CO 80905 (719) 453-0549. The repair had to do with a NHTSA recall number: 19v-063000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact had noticed an oil leak in his garage with plastic rings covered in oil. The contact had to take the plastic rings out of the oil bag to show to the dealer who thought the parts were insects. The contact was not satisfied with the repair. The dealer only replaced the oil pressure switch but not the full oil pan. The manufacturer just told the contact to keep an eye the issue. The failure mileage was 45,000. Tf.
2013 Hyundai Tucson. Consumer writes in regards to engine oil leak.
Manufacturer sent recall letter in early February stating the engine was under recall for oil leak / possibility of failure causing a serious loss of power situation while driving no adverse action this far but we no longer feel safe driving this vehicle as the engine may ail at any time with no warning.
Went to get my 4th oil change since having the car and notice after my car was leaking oil. Starts jerking at some points.

There is a recall out on my vehicle. Manufacturer recall number 181/NHTSA recall number 19v063. The problem is that there is no remedy yet available for this and they issued the recall in February. I took my vehicle in for p. M. Service at the Hyundai dealership, and they told me my vehicle was indeed symptomatic of the nature of the recall (leaking fluid between engine block and oil pan), but that Hyundai did not yet have a remedy. When I look up the recall on the NHTSA website, it says,"if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA. . . " I feel as though, given the potential risk (failure at high speed/possible engine fire) and timeline (recall issued in February - no remedy yet available in mid April), Hyundai has indeed failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner. Furthermore - I have received no official communications from Hyundai regarding this matter which I find unprofessional as well.
I was driving home in my 2012 Hyundai Tucson when out of nowhere my car started to make an almost boiling sound and began to stall and smell of smoke. I pulled over and a safety truck pulled over behind me and asked if I needed assistance. I explained to him what had just happened and he offered to take a look under the hood. The mechanic told me that I couldn't drive the car because it was a fire risk. He said that it looks like oil is leaking onto my engine somehow but he couldn't tell how. It was leaking into my engine and you can see it leaking everywhere, some even spilled out onto my tire. I had to have it towed to a repair shop. Apparently there was a recall on my car and I didn't receive any notice of any issues until the day after it almost caught on fire and I had it towed. I called Hyundai but they said they don't have a remedy for this yet. My car has been at the shop waiting for a remedy to the recall.
I received a recall for a defect. The vehicle may have an engine oil leak from the seal between the oil pan & engine block which, if left unrepaired & operated over time, could eventually lead to engine damage. A damaged engine could lead to a high-speed stall, increasing the risk of a crash. It could also increase the risk of a vehicle fire. I received this notice in April 2019. When are they going to get the remedy going? when I put in my VIN #, it says it is invalid. I would think they should get the remedy in place since there is a possibility of a crash or fire!! what are they waiting for?? Highway, bridge, following significantly far back. Car stops ahead and I brake in plenty of time (my son was in the front seat and can attest to that). Car brakes but very slowly, not in time so we hit the stationary car and then we were hit much harder from behind. Airbags deployed. The car immediately filled with smoke which I attributed to the air bags because I did not know any better. Very scared, I screamed for the kids to get out of the car. Smoke was gone by the time police arrived. We were ok, my son and I had sore ribs and while talking with police my left hand was burning from something. Nothing was visible so I saw know point in telling anyone. It left a rash and within time it peeled and now is back to normal. A few days later, had some headaches. Went to the athletic trainer at our school (I am a teacher) and was put on concussion protocol. Car was totaled. The front looked like an accordion as we were pushed significantly into the vehicle in front by the car who hit us from behind. I was so relieved that everyone was ok that I really did not think about it until recall notice came for the car which of course was already gone. Engine problems with "oil leaks and possible spontaneous fires, increasing risk for accident" is the wording on the recall.
The recall number is 15819540. I received a recall letter for my 2012 tyson Hyundai stating that, the subject vehicles may have an engine oil leak from the seal between the oil pan and engine block, if left unrepair and operated over time, could eventually lead to engine damage. I want to know how long Hyundai have to come up with a implement a recall remedy. I have not received a second letter.
While driving my vehicle it completed shut off. I had it towed back to my work and was told it possibly threw a rod. I then received a recall notice that there is possible engine oil leak- which is exactly what caused my vehicle to malfunction. Once the recall letter was received I called Hyundai of orange park and was told it probably was related and that they would look it over. Once it was there I was informed since there isn't currently a remedy they cannot do anything at this time- although originally I was told that they could possibly fix it and then they would be reimbursed by Hyundai. I then had to have my vehicle towed to my home after them trying to charge me a diagnostic fee which they ended up waiving. It has now been months since I have heard regarding what the remedy will be with the engine. During this time I have had to purchase another vehicle while still paying on a personal loan that I received to purchase the vehicle. I am trying to get this taken care of but can't seem to get any resolution.
While drivng on the 5n freeway in the fast lane, my car seized. I had enough momentum to get on the right shoulder. Warning light said nothing of oil leak and gave me the tpms warning (tire pressure). Diagnosis: oil plug fell out of oil pan, all oil leaked and engine was ruined. Weeks later, I recieve a "new" engine and they do not know why the plug fell out. If it was loose, it would have fell out quicker than 600 miles after the oil was serviced. Perhaps it was the wrong size oil plug, we wont know because it fell out. Recall is for 2011-2013 models. . . . Perhaps the 2017 has same issues!!! NHTSA's campaign number: 19v063. 120,000 Hyundai Tucson suvs from the 2011 to 2013 model years. The oil pan may have been improperly sealed during engine production. As a result, an oil leak could develop and lead to engine damage, the engine stalling, or even a fire, NHTSA says.

My 2014 Tucson recently suffered a catastrophic engine failure. I was driving home from work last Tuesday (9/18) on a highway when I heard a bang and then the constant rattling from my engine. I was fortunate that I didn't seem to lose power at cruising speeds, but it was still obvious that something was very wrong. I limped it the 20 or so miles to my local service center where it's now sitting. First thing they did was check the dip stick and it was dry. I have my oil changed regularly, I've never had blue smoke out the back, no oil spots, no sign of even the slightest oil leak. So for the dip stick to be dry was alarming. I spent the next day calling around to Hyundai dealerships to see what options I'd have. I commute about 70 miles for work, my Tucson is at 130k miles so it's well beyond the 100k warranty. Having the engine replaced was basically my only option.
Good afternoon, I'm sending this e-mail in reference to my 2013 Hyundai Tucson. On Thursday the 23th of August , I was in my vehicle with my family coming home from dinner in atlantic city new jersey. We were traveling south on the NJ parkway in the outside lane. At approx. 9:15 pm at mile marker 48, I heard a small pop , my vehicle started smoking and stopped running. The momentum carried me off to the right shoulder of the highway. I had to get towed home. The tow truck driver checked under the hood and he saw oil leaking and pieces on the engine block. He advised that I popped a rod on the engine. After doing some inquires on the net , I found that Hyundai had recalls on their sonatas for engine problems. . . . Also Tucson owners were having the same problems. I checked to see what kind of engine I had. I did so by VIN number. On the VIN number position 8 is the code for engine. I have code c . This engine was used in sonatas . Is it possible that my engine was one of the recalled ones. My vehicle only had 122,000. Maintenance was done. There was no warnings . Engine light never came or oil pressure light. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. . . . .
I had to replace the entire engine in my vehicle, now Hyundai is placing a recall on my vehicle for engine oil leak! my vehicle stalled and engine died when my engine went so I believe this recall had a factor on my engine dying. I was on a highway, heavy traffic when the engine stall, then puttered to the side of the road & quit. Afterwards the vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic that diagnosed vehicle as engine failure - which resulted in full engine replacement. I feel that my engine should be fully covered and am requesting a refund for replacement of my engine. I notified Hyundai at the time of this incident but they reported that "there is no recalls" for engine or any related "recalls" similar to the malfunction of my engine. . . . . . . . . Really? the Hyundai sonata has the same engine in it 2011 and it has a full recall on that engine. I need a clear explanation please. I will review my supporting documents and can provide a clear & precise date of incident. Date below is only a guess.
