1 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 02/06/2022

Since I purchased the car, there have been intermitten times when the car hesitates and does not accelerate after being stuck in traffic. It is bogged down and does eventually move. When this originally happened the vechilce was brought in to the dealer and they advised there was a recall for transmission programming and that was done. Prior to 100,000 miles on the car, the transmission needed to be replaced and I was told this would solve the problem. But it did not - the bogging and hesitation happened less frequently, but continued. In 2021, I had to replace the turbo because the vechile was bogging down and the codes indicated it was the turbo. After the turbo was replaced, my car began burning significant amounts of oil. Sometimes, I could go 2,000 miles, others only 1,000 and most recently 250-500 miles before my car would start bogging again and need 2 quarts of oil. After filling my car in early February with oil and driving less than 100 miles, my car started bogging and sputtering while driving and making awful noise. The codes indicated it needed coils, which I had replaced but the engine has no compression. After reading and researching this is a known problem with the 2016 Tucson 1. 6t and a defect that was corrected in the engine in 2018. Hyundai should be responsible for this and be required to make owners whole.

I was in the center lane and my car just died it restarted with a knocking in my engine and kept dyeing. I checked before my 4 hour trip . I was stranded 2 hours from home. The company refuses to honor the 100000 mile warrenty because I am the second owner. I still owe 14000 dollars on this vehicle.

Days before my car got fixed my car stalled twice, and I start hearing a loud noise in which I found out after the recall was fixed that my valve covers needed replaced. The technician said that it could not be fixed because engine was bad. I had a corporate representative who did nothing, and I had to call 500 times to have it escalated to a corporate manager. After I got a corporate manager is when grayson hyndaui decided to give me an estimate. My car has been parked at home since 9/24/2019 and I have paid to rent a car since that day an till this day. 15 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

I was driving my Tucson about 50-55 mph on a two way highway (3) when my car started making a loud noise, the noise was like it was knocking and screeching. The car then started shacking and slowed to about 20-25 mph. I put my flashers on as several cars passed me. The engine light came on and I pulled off the road. This was the first time any of these things happened with my car. I called my husband, who was out of town. He had the car towed to his business and then towed to a repair business once he returned. His mechanic looked at the car and told my husband that the car had a thrown rod. He saved oil which he said has shavings in it. He also told him that Hyundai Tucsons, santa fe, and sonata have had these problems. My husband went to the dealership where the car was purchased. The manager said this model has not been recalled. However, we received a card from Hyundai on approximately June 12-14, 2019 stating that our vehicle was under a recall and that we would be contacted. The vehicle has been serviced regularly with oil changes, etc. Which are documented. The vehicle has 150,229 miles. In light of the mechanic telling us about this problem, we fill that Hyundai should do something about this. The mechanic indicated that Hyundai recalled the santa fe and sonata with the exact same motor, but did not recall the Tucson. He also indicated that 30,000 Tucson's were recalled for the exact same problem as ours in canada. How can this be there and not in the united states? this was very dangerous. I am relieved that I was able to get off the road without being rear ended. Please let us know what can be done by Hyundai. I can submit a photo of our vehicle and the oil in the jar, and the motor, if that would help. I had to look for this website to see what our recourse was. Most people I have talked with are not aware of this website for problems.

16 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2014 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

Dec. 14, 2018 while driving 50 m. P. H. My 2014 Hyundai Tucson engine: 2. 0l i4 di with 113,000 miles, made an awful sound then moments later, the car engine lost all power, lights and steering. I nearly crashed my car. I was fortunate not to hit the car in front of me who immediately after my engine failed, suddenly stopped to make a left turn. Barely missing this car, I then had to correct my skid then make an abrupt 90 right hand turn off the highway and up a steep driveway, praying it was enough of a include to slow my car bringing my car to a safe stop. My passenger was shaken. Unable to restart the engine, the key having failed to even illuminate the engine lights again, I was forced to call and pay for the car towed back to the my Hyundai dealership in laconia, n. H. Where I had purchased the car about 2 1/2 years, and within 29,00 miles before the catastrophic engine failure. After five days I called the dealership only to find out then that the Hyundai Tucson's engine was blown and needed to be replaced. I was told there were no new Hyundai engines available, (I suspect the scarcity is likely due to the thousands of reported engine failures of the Hyundai 2. 0 engine) and, I would need to purchase a junk yard engine with a warranty. I can only hope the seriousness of the 2014 Hyundai Tucson catastrophic engine failure hazard convinces the nhtsb to persuade Hyundai USA, 2. 0l i4 di engine, montgomery, alabama to recall all Tucson models with engine, joining other 2. 0 engines installed in the recalled sonata and santa fe models with the exact same engine in my car. Hyundai place safety above all for this otherwise avoidable safety hazard in their manufacture process and design of what otherwise could be a safe, reliable car. Hyundai Tucson recall. 2014 Hyundai engine failure. Hyundai USA engine died.

17 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph the whole panel lit up and the engine made loud noises. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the engine as completely blown out. The engine had metal shavings in it. The dealer duell's evansville Hyundai 4400 e division st, evansville, in 47715 812) 473-4400 said to tow the vehicle in. The extended 100,000 mile warranty had just run out by 9,000 miles. The contact stated that the vehicle had no issues before hand and the dealer requested the maintenance history of the vehicle. The dealer called back to confirm that the service history was excellent and promised a new engine replacement. The dealer stated that were having difficulty getting an engine. An engine finally arrived in early March 2019 after having the vehicle since 12/05/19. The dealer then informed the contact that there was an internal leak that delayed the process. Then while they were testing the engine there was a stall . After another few weeks they stated that they had to replace the valves which caused the stall. The contact called an attorney while waiting for the repair. The dealer then called back and stated that they were sent the wrong valves . While waiting the contact received a NHTSA recall letter number: 19v-063000 (engine and engine cooling). While waiting the contact had to purchase another vehicle since the dealer did not offer a loaner with the extended time for the repairs. The current status was the contact was still waiting for the vehicle to finally be fixed with a new engine. The contact does not trust the dealer or the n of the vehicle with the new engine. The failure mileage was 109,000. Tf.

18 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/07/2018

My engine suffered a complete failure while traveling on the interstate at 70+ mph. In the middle of a 300 mile road trip, I noticed the car would hold speed with cruise control, but not accelerate to pass on the highway. Within 10 minutes of noticing, the engine began making a loud noise. I was not able to stop, as I was on a long stretch of interstate with no gas stations, etc. Suddenly, the engine revved to about 6000 rpm, the car shook, and the engine stopped. I had enough speed to pull over to the shoulder and turned off the car. The engine would not restart. I had to call a tow truck and have the vehicle towed 40 miles to a Hyundai dealership, where they diagnosed it as blown, most likely to a bearing failure. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was traveling at over 70 miles per hour.
