Hyundai Tucson owners have reported 7 problems related to transmission noise (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Hyundai Tucson based on all problems reported for the Tucson.
My vehicle is exhibiting issues with power. My car has stop on the hwy and has clanking noise when it gets close to 4000rpm. It's slow to speed up and sometimes stays at 50mph no matter how long my foot is on the accelerator. I've taken it in to get looked and even had a tune up and it's the same issue. In reverse it's fine but going forward that's when you can feel and hear the problems. This is a safety hazard and I don't have $5000 for a new transmission. My mechanic says it's internal issue with the power train. It needs to be recalled!.

Since taking ownership of the vehicle, I've experienced concerns with the vehicle bucking when moving at slow speeds such as in bumper to bumper traffic. The car hesitates to drive after a stop at an intersection and makes a winding noise when it finally does accelerate. One incident occurred when I was in the drive-thru lane at mcdonald's and the vehicle overheated. I had to pull over and allow the car to cool down for 30 minutes. Another incident occurred when driving in a parking mall structure with an inclined road, there several cars behind me and the vehicle overheated, I had to pull over in an unsafe location putting family and me in danger by vehicles passing by in a very narrow lane and allow the vehicle time to cool off again. Last week while at a shopping center I put the vehicle in reverse and it jolted forward almost striking a pedestrian. I've taken the car to the dealer countless times (service records are attached). The last diagnosis there was an internal oil leak in the transmission. They eventually ended up replacing the transmission with a remanufactured transmission, but the issue is still occurring. I have since parked the vehicle as I refuse to continue driving an unsafe car. I reached out to Hyundai and expressed my concerns, but no resolution has been reached. Please provide some support in getting this matter resolved.
I purchased my 2018 Hyundai Tucson limited 1. 6l forward drive new in November 2018. I started experiencing problems a few weeks after my purchase. The vehicle is slow to accelerate at times and other times the vehicle lurches/accelerates forward at a high rate of speed with my foot on the brake pedal. For instance, I was at a drive thru with my foot on the brake pedal and my Tucson began to accelerate forward. I was so afraid that I was going to hit the car in front of me that I turned the vehicle off. On numerous occasions it has lurched/accelerated forward with my foot on the brake pedal. Other times when I begin to accelerate after stopping at a stop light the vehicle just hesitates to move at all. It is very slow to accelerate for a turbo vehicle. Concerning my brakes, my brakes are making a high pitch squealing sound. I have taken my Tucson in for service for the brake issue, and I have been told that there is nothing wrong and that is the noise that Tucson brakes make. Brakes do not make a high pitch squealing noise for no reason at all. Also, I took my Tucson to be serviced for the engine/transmission problem and I was told that there was nothing that they could do about the problem. This SUV is a deathtrap. The 2018 Tucson 1. 6l needs to be recalled and the engine replaced with a 2. 4l engine and the brake system needs to be redesigned.

2017 Hyundai tuscon limited. . . . . When accelerating from a stop the vehicle lags as though it is about to stall, sometimes with no acceleration when pushing on the gas peddle. Everytime I get my car serviced I have discussed this with the service department, they have had 3 different employees drive it & continue to try to explain it as the dual transmission. Recently entering on the freeway my vehicle jolted &died with no power I was able to coast to the side of the road barely making it out of the way of a truck that was speeding up behind me. The warning light illuminted the malfunction indicator light this could potentially be a catalytic converter problem. Towed vehicle to dealership & they said it was a tcu software update. The next day drove less than a mile to car wash, turned car off & when I went to turn back on nothing no lights, no noise, nothing after about 15-20 min. Car started up. The vehicle is only 2 years old & I dont feel comfortable that it wont die out putting myself or passangers in danger or leaving me stranded. Hyundai service representatives no help at all.

Hello: glad you are there. Given a 2016 national service recall, (16v628000) perhaps you are aware of the hesitation and related dangerous flaws in the regular operation of Hyundai Tucson vehicles with a dual clutch transmission. We purchased our vehicle new on 09/05/2015 from a Hyundai dealer. We returned it to the dealer for the hesitation problem on 10/19/2015 and again on 11/4/2015, eventually a dozen times to various Hyundai dealers in hope of having a lasting repair done. To no avail. We were told repeatedly of a software update or adjustment to solve the problem. We were trusting each time, accepting the vehicle back. (service records often stated that a mechanic could not replicate the problem as if that were answer to a problem that was known to arise sporadically. Conversely, several times a service employee said off to the side that they were well aware of the problem and in two cases they had the same ongoing problem with their Hyundai vehicles!) this hesitation has, for self-protection, often forced us to drive out of our way to avoid busy uncontrolled intersections as a mid-cross hesitation could result in the highly dangerous, infamous t-bone accident. It has caused near rear-end collisions as drivers behind us do not expect a sudden pause in movement. Concerns of accidents prodded us at times to instead drive a much older car with 200,000 miles. What seems to be a clutch problem has recently grown: hesitation can occur at highway speeds, which obviously is quite unsafe. Also new is sporadically, when attempting to move from a stop, the result at times is a loud whirring noise lasting seconds. As in all hesitation cases, it does not matter who is driving although Hyundai service departments have repeatedly suggested just that. They recently offered to have us drive a similar vehicle as a test. We agreed. They withdrew the offer.
2017 Hyundai Tucson. While driving my vehicle on a city street , I stopped for a red light and when I proceeded to move when the light turned green my SUV would not accelerate. The vehicle transmission made a noise ,rpm's went to 4, car lunched forward and moved a little, then proceeded to drive.
Purchased my 2010 Hyundai Tucson in may 2010. I have had three instances of transmission lockup at 50 mph. As described by others it feels like you hit something in the road. The car lurches and there is a loud noise. I am very afraid to drive this car, it feels like I will lose control of it one of these times when it happens. The dealership is currently replacing the transmission as per direction from Hyundai technical assistance. Not sure if this will fix the problem or just delay it. The vehicle has 8300 miles, it started failing around 6000 miles. Personally, I don't want this vehicle back and feel that an investigation should take place, this is definitely a safety hazard. These vehicles are having transmission failures before the first oil change!.
