general problems of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee - part 2

A couple of issues are occurring and this is all over the internet as well and I have decided to file a complaint as this vehicle should be recalled. Most recently the car shuts off while driving and need to coast into the breakdown lane. The transmission shifts very rough as well as this model in addition the engine seems to eat the oil as well. I purchased the vehicle brand new and have consistently gotten oil changes, but a year ago when I brought this vehicle in the dealer advised I had no oil, but I got oil changes every 4-5k miles. I should not need to be pouring oil into the car. This is well known issue all over the internet with this engine. What happens is the car will shut off randomly when driving as a fail sale. In addition most recently the will shut off and there is oil in the engine, but it starts jerking the engine as if it is trying to change gears and then the car loses the ability to accelerate and actually deaccelerate. I have to pull over and the car will not drive. I have to turn the car off and let it sit for a minute or two and then turn it back on. This is highly dangerous as someone can smash into the back of the car while I am driving since the car loses power. I have brought the car in numerous times to the shop over the years due to the transmission/engine failures. This engine/transmission needs to be recalled as these cars should not be on the road. Most recently I brought it back to the dealer and they advised they could not replicate the problem. It is back in the shop today as well 5/31/23 as the incident occurred again 3 days after. I have some video I can email as well.

Knocking could lead to engine freeze. Caused by faulty rocker in engine.

This has been going on for almost two months and there is no solution?! I have a 2 year old that sits in my back seat and you think I can have her in the vehicle when the back of my car could start fire at any time next to the freaking gas tank?!?!?!?! take this vehicle back!!!!!!!.

Last July of 2022, my first issue was an electrical notice that caused the airbag and seatbelt sensor in the vehicle to continuously go off, which took several months to get fixed through the manufacturer of my Jeep Cherokee 2015. As of 2023, I have received two recall notices, and neither of which have been resolved since April of 2023. Since those notices, my check engine light has gone off and is getting repaired this week, there's been a leak inside the vehicle of a liquid spilling into the passenger side floor mat, and also the brakes have deteriorated quickly -- they were last repaired at 77,000 miles and are again experiencing issues at 99,000 miles. There is a specific manufacturer in my area (salt lake valley chrystler Dodge Jeep ram on state street in salt lake city, ut) that has been borderline negligent and straight up rude on multiple occasions.

My Jeep Cherokee have a 4wd warning indication services need. It automatically shifts my power train to snow. Also when in park. The vehicle starts to go to neutral. Please recall this. My car is 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. I’ve never had an accident and this is either a system glitch or engine issue that can cause damage and injury.

Oil cooler housing is leaking. As such will not pass state inspection as it's a hazard to burn therefore a safety issue. I noticed online that there is a class action suit pending and the Jeep is aware of this problem but yet it is not been recalled. It's going to cost me $900 to fix.

Oil cooler cracked Dec 2022. Oil cooler cracked again Nov 2023. I heard this is an ongoing issue and should be a recall with people having to replace it every single year! could become a safety issue as it blows spoke all over the place.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,800.

We own a 2015 Jeep Cherokee 2. 4 l fwd vehicle. In the last 3 months, we have encountered ignition issues. We had several misfires when attempting to start the engine. We brought this to the attention of our local auto mechanic, and they were unsure of the cause. We spent over $1500 on inspections and repairs which included spark plug replacement, throttle body replacement, knock sensor replacement, ignition coils replacement and putting in a new battery. We have been to the auto shop several times because the check engine lights keeps coming on and the bills keep adding up. We now received a letter regarding the fact that our vehicle has a recall for catalyst efficiency. According to the notice there may be a loss of catalyst CO/nox conversion efficiency resulting from the catalyst operating at high temperatures. When the catalyst temperature is elevated, there is a higher rate of misfire, and the misfire can cause immediate damage to the catalyst since it brings unburned fuel and oxygen into the catalyst. I am confident that this loss in conversion efficiency is the reason the ignition misfires in my Jeep. I have receipts and bills to prove that I have spent over $1500 in the last month on engine repairs that still haven't solved the problem. I have contacted a local Jeep service shop who has ordered the part needed for this recall. How do I receive compensation for the money I have already paid for the repairs related to this recall?.

Engine oil filter/oil housing is malfunctioned or defected for my model car. Malfunction is causing leakage into the engine which can result explosion or worst damage to vehicle. Warning engine light appeared on vehicle to notify of oil leaking into engine. First appeared 3 months ago. Company has redesigned particular part because of the same popular issue nationwide.

While driving, vehicle shuts off or engine dies without a warning. I have to wait about 30 seconds until it starts again. Very dangerous.

Crack block in engine mileage 63k.

Sounds like a backfire. Happened 3 times in 2 days. Engine was replaced 2-20-2020@ 55,029 mi. Currently has 67713 mi.

While I am driving and the kuds in car, the car completely power off calling into park before switching on. I was in a big big trouble. I checked online and found that cars 2014-2017 had a call for ptu that causes the same horrible situation that I was in. It was a nightmare. I used my car that never face any problem where I take of it and use it usually for serving my kids driving them to their school and activities. I face the problem 3 times yesterday 2 timed and thanks god while I was on the traffic light but to day is horrible while on the road.

Oil leak at engine cooling system which is common on Jeeps from 2014 to 2017.

I was about half a mile from my job when I lost most of my engine power (my daily commute is about 9 min each way - 3 miles and a speed limit of 40). I was accelerating uphill from a red light and I reached about 15 miles an hour before I realized I did not have the power to get more speed. I pulled in and noticed white smoke billowing from my car but did not ever see a check engine light. I had a few coworkers come outside to take a look . There was still heavy white smoke. I got it towed to the garage we take our fleet trucks. My piston rings were compromised (is the theory) and it lead to a multitude of problems even though I stopped driving it within half a mile of noticing anything irregular about my car.

I keep getting a "service shifter" alarm intermittently. When this happens it kills my speedometer, and disables the different drive modes available to me. Repairs have been unable to locate the fault, nor has the dealer any good reasoning why. Alarm will go away if I pull over, shut off the car, and open the door. Upon restarting the car it usually goes away for a day or more, but it always comes back. It seems to be worse when it gets colder, and the car has been running longer.

Car has been jerking almost immediately after buying it brand new. They supposedly "fixed" the problem but jerking has not stopped. It hesitates when trying to accelerate most times and when it shifts into gear it thrusts/jerks so hard. Vehicle has stalled on me numerous times in traffic while coming to a stop. Very afraid to even drive it. It shifts into neutral while driving or turning. It completely shuts off sometimes while in traffic or turning. Cars had to slam on brakes to prevent from hitting me. This happened on several occasions. Had to get the motor mounds and transmissions mounds replaced. Driving down the highway changing lanes wheel felt like it locked up. Getting off the interstate was very hard and scary. Steering wheel would not let me turn completely. Get it home after wrestling with it. Turn it off, to see what the problem was thinking I need power steering. Tried turning it bac on nothing! get it towed, needed a water pump, but found that my motor and transmission mounds needed replaced. After complaining about the jerking movement for so long dealership said it wasn't the transmission and it wasn't going to be covered under warranty. I put too much money into this what supposed to been a new car to have so many problems from the jump. Why is their not a recall on this whole vehicle????? have all these issues but no recalls but 1 has been made. Or I should say campaign. All these complaints about this particular car but no remedies for it. Not even when they "update" "fix" it. Too may problems. This is the worst car I've had. Used cars didn't give me this much trouble. I need to be reimbursed for all the problems I should not have had from a new car. And not covered under warranty at all. Clearly it has transmissions issues and engine issues. Just wasting my time going to get these "fixes" for it not to be fixed not once. The date below is not the first time. It's only the most recent that my car has stalled, jerked and shut down. Horrible car.

I am not completely certain which of the above selected items is the cause of my vehicle malady, though I have been instructed by a mechanic that it could be the drive train maybe (I could be misremembering). At any rate, the vehicle stalls at random intervals, without advance notification of a problem. No warning light or sound is produced until the moment it stalls at which time a warning sound without accompanying light is produced. The vehicle will stall regardless of whether or not it has been pre-heated, despite the season/weather, and has stalled while I was in the midst of turning left against oncoming traffic with my son in the car! the vehicle replicated this behavior during a mechanic’s test drive following a break line repair. He indicated it may be the above mentioned issue. All information can be provided upon request. I have researched this issue and have found it to be fairly prevalent among owners of this specific vehicle. If stalling while making a left turn against oncoming traffic (when an opportunity presents itself) does not present a significant safety hazard and/or concern then perhaps I’m more confused than I had previously thought. What happens when someone stalls on a train track or on the interstate? in addition to the afore mentioned concerns, something with electrical component is defective. It wasn’t long after the earlier mentioned complications began that my interior lights began dimming and brightening independently and my redio screen stopped listing song, program, podcast, radio station, information etc. Thank you for your consideration.

The contact stated that an independent mechanic had previously replaced the rocker arm, camshaft, and coil packs; however, the failure recurred while driving at an undisclosed speed. Additionally, and the vehicle was making abnormal ticking sounds. Additionally, the headlights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with two bent valves in the engine. The vehicle was then taken to stan mcnabb hwy 55 Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat (1200 e carroll st, tullahoma, TN 37388) where the computer was replaced; however, the dealer determined that the engine also needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

1. My car has fully turned off while driving, on two separate occasions. The first time was a slow crawl and it shut off. The second time I was going roughly 30mph and it shut off. Both times, it shut off (including the instrument cluster, entertainment console, lights, etc. ) after a couple of seconds everything came back on, but I had to put it into drive and recycle the key to get the engine to start back up. 2. When the car fully shuts off there is no way to accelerate, imagine if you pull out in front of someone and it shuts off, and you are stuck in the middle of an intersection? 3. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue (if you look up online, many people are having this same issue for the Jeep Cherokee). 4. No 5. No warning lamps or messages. Everything just completely shuts off and goes black.

Car will shut down on the free way. Car will go 65 mph and suddenly give out. The car will be on but the engine will be off. Car will turn off anywhere at any time. I bought a new pcm and issue is still occurring. Car is in great condition but won’t start properly and feel scared for my life when I have to drive it.

The transmission light popped on only after having it for 2 months.

Car stalls multiple times over the last month. With zero warning it died in front of my wife in ongoing traffic. Multiple error messages are on dash. Restarts when shutting car off then back on.

Purchased 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude Dec 1, 2020 & sept 2021 discovered something wrong with transmission, mechanic researched Jeep & said previously there was a recall- tcm- transfer case reflash module, dealership/ manufacturer will not response to my calls to help with this problem.

Rocker bearings failed in the rear of the head. This impacted the right side intake camshaft. They replaced the rear intake and rear camshaft, rear and front rockers and also valve cover gaskets and upper intake seals. The only indication of a problem was a tapping sound coming from the engine. No warning lights on the console. If this had gone un repaired the engine could have seized at any time while traveling causing an accident. The repair technician indicated that the new parts would not fail the way the original equipment failed. Chrysler has refused to pay for the repair.

Car transmission jumps when its starts moving at the beginning makes it feel like someone rear ended the car. This happens every time. It does not feel safe.

I have had my vehicle checked out several times over the malfunction of the stop and start system. Several times it has been worked on and looked at. Once they claimed they replaced a part under the hood in richmond, kentucky. This issue has been going on for over two years. It had been cutting off and not starting back. Now its advanced into a jerking from a hesitation to switch between gears. The malfunction light keeps coming back on. And sometimes it has to be restarted several times just to reset it. It was on 7/30/2021 when someone besides me noticed this issue. But its been doing me this way for last three months.

2015 Jeep Cherokee limited. While driving the vehicle, lost power abruptly and without warning in traffic on 5 occasions between may 2021 and July. Car towed and taken to dealership each time with repair notations indicating short in pdc causing fuse for ignition coils to blow. That was replaced. An additional note when the car failed again indicated an internal short in pcm which was replaced. I've spent thousands of dollars, not to mention the safety issue of stalling in traffic. The last time, I was on a very busy freeway and didn't have enough power to fully move to the shoulder. I counted about 3 near misses with cars about to hit me. I don't have every *invoice* as they didn't return them all to me but will upload what I do have. This is a serious issue and I'm not getting any resolution with the dealership.

While I was driving a was coming to a complete stop and the Jeep stalled on me and said a quick message on the dash about shifting I tried to start it again and it took a second to kick over. Its done this twice today and has been doing it at least once a day. This is a serious problem especially if I happen to be on the highway or going threw an intersection.

I was driving and the Jeep died on the road. This happened 2 days (April 4 & 5th, 2021) in a row. No warning lights. I had to remove the key and open the door to reset the system and then it finally restarted. Tires plus reports no codes when diagnosing. Waiting to hear from Jeep.

For the past three weeks the car has been showing transmission problems but until recently the transmission remained in neutral and filed to shift to another gear. It makes a loud clang sound when shifting gears and automatically shuts down after. The parking brake wouldn't disengage, a message saying "service parking brake" appears on screen. When accelerating the car does not respond normally. There was another message showing "tranmission service" when the car was on park and the car unexpectedly shift to neutral and made a loud roar round jerking forward.
