On 2 occassions my vehicle stalled while driving/in motion and transmission disengaged almost causing a serious mva. All lights on the shifter turned on and the a "service shifter" message appeared on screen. I took vehicle in for service to route 18 Jeep of east brunswick, NJ. The dealer ran a diagnostic tests and found the tipm computer malfunctioned. I did some research and found the previous year Jeep/ crysler modes had the same problems and a recall was issued on the tipm. Concerning as this issue may cause serious mva and jeopardize safety.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The VIN was not available.
For the past week my 2015 Jeep Cherokee has been at the dealership; continuous screen/radio malfunctioning/ unintended car acceleration/ computer system malfunction, etc. I was told by the service manager that they have no clue why my vehicle is not functioning correctly or accepting their several attempts to 'update' my vehicles system to correct the various problems. The manager went on to tell me how my car is "rejecting" the new part they tried to install. I did not know vehicles had the ability to 'reject' mechanical parts. He said they had to contact Chrysler to find out how to fix my vehicle; I truly thought the "Chrysler" dealership was Chrysler and mechanics there were trained to fix all of chryslers vehicles, shame on me. At this point I am truly afraid to drive the truck, especially with the Chrysler dealership not knowing how to repair the various problems with a 2015 model. I also noticed the Jeeps starting with 1c4pj seems to have all the problems. With Chrysler noticing it as well, why not just replace the Jeeps sold in that batch?.

I am a nurse and travel for a living. On my way home from assignment in wv. Just outside a bowling green on i65. My car jerked then lost all power. Engine light, service transmission light and battery lights all came on. I was going 70 miles an hour. I had no acceleration. I coasted to the shoulder, across 3 lanes of interstate. I attempted Jeeps emergency number but got the unable to connect voice mail, after 5 minutes my car restarted. I remained on right side of road. 65 miles later and 15 miles from nashville the car jerked and I lost the ability to accelerate once again. I pulled over and the car restarted. I am now in a hotel for the third night and unable to get home. I took my car to Jeep this morning to be serviced. I was told a computer malfunction caused the problem. The dealer did not offer to pay for rental car, hotel ect. The new part is supposed to be here Tuesday. No I was not killed or involved in a crash however, I can think of several scenarios where I easily could have been in a horrible crash. What if the new module is also bad I asked. It's like my new laptop I was told. Sometimes they just break.
