This Jeep has 90k miles on it. We noticed a very severe oil leak and discovered that oil was leaking out of the engine oil cooler filter housing adapter. After doing some research it was discovered that this is a very common part to malfunction. Oil is leaking on to the manifold and engine block. This could cause a fire if ignored. The replacement part has been back-ordered and we are unable to drive the vehicle.

Check engine light came on. Had computer scanned. Code p0520 engine oil sensor failure was detected. Called Jeep warranty department and they said the repair was not covered by powertrain warranty. This sensor is located under the plenum and intake manifold which bolts to the engine heads. This vehicle only has 30,000 miles on it.

On March 3/9/2017 I purchased a 2016, Jeep Cherokee limited 4x4, 2. 4l with 20,111. At the time of the purchase, I received a 109-point vehicle inspection report, and I personally checked the fluid levels. On may 27, 2017, the oil light flashed when turning into the home depot. I immediately, parked and turned off the car. After inspection, I checked the oil, and there was no evidence of oil on the dip stick. The Jeep's mileage was 24,211 miles, which is only 4,100 miles since purchasing the vehicle. Having learned that no oil was registering on the dip stick, I opened up the hood and looked for signs of an oil leak? no oil leak was visible from the engine compartment and no oil leakage was found under the Jeep. I then drove to the nearest retailer and purchased 5 qt container of 0w-20, full synthetic motor oil. After returning to the Jeep, I started adding oil, one quart at a time, and checking the level of the oil between adding intervals. After adding one quart, I could just see evidence of oil on the dip stick. It took 3. 5 quarts before the dip stick registered full. At that point I turned on the vehicle. All of the normal dash board diagnostic lights flashed on/off and the car exhibited no sustained warning lights. No sustained engine light or oil light were visible and the Jeep appeared to be running normally. No blue or black exhaust was visible from the Jeep's tail pipe. After arriving home, I promptly changed the oil and oil filter with the 0w-20, full synthetic castrol motor oil and a fram tough guard filter. The discarded oil was black. From under the Jeep, there was no sign of an oil leak around the oil filter, the oil pan or anywhere inside of the skid shield under the Jeep?.

I have had the vehicle in several times for check engine light. I has been on for the entire time I have had it. They have said it was intake manifold bolts loose and several program updates. This last time they said it was the fuel causing the problem. I have used 5 different fuels and the light stays on. There has been several problems with engine surging when I put it in reverse and at a stop light.
I just found out I have a cracked manifold, my driver side door has broken put a new part in it and now that is broken,I have also had to put a new transmission in it with only 148,000. 00 miles. In 2006 I had to fix the gas tank because it was broken too. Is this not a recall problem????? any of these, I have had the Jeep since 2000 and I bought it when it had 20,000 miles on it. Please help because this is 2012 and I only have 156,000 miles on it now. Thank you.

1. Vehicle was losing coolant but nothing showing up in the engine oil coolant or burning out the tail pipe. I was going through about a half gallon per week. Vehicle maintained loss of coolant for about 6 months, the added problem of lost oil pressure then became a problem. 2. Eventually the head started leaking bad enough that coolant was present in the oil, at which point the problem was present and able to diagnos. 3. At that point the main bearings were a complete loss and determined that the cam bearings were gone as well and had to replace the entire motor.

The contact owns a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to stall. After a few minutes, the vehicle completely shut off without warning. The vehicle was taken to the shop for a diagnosis and the mechanic believed the cause of failure to be the fuel pump. The coil pack was previously replaced. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnosis. He was informed of a recall for the intake manifold. The recall number was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 79,000.

Brakes malfunctioned both right and left rotors were scored and ruined on the inside only. The brakes failed at 33,809 miles. Looking through the wheel from the outside, the outside of the rotors looked good with no unusual wear. The vehicle also had air conditioning problems and needed to have the muffler replaced.
While driving vehicle overheated. Vehicle was taken to an independent shop, and mechanic determined that intake manifold cracked, and coolant spilled inside the engine. Technician indicated the need to be replace the entire engine, vehicle had only 58,000 miles.
1996 Jeep Cherokee, exhaust manifold failed at weld point, not able to repair due to poor metal used by manufacturer. The exhaust must be replaced, Jeep manufacturer is aware of problem, refuses to admit it is a manufactures defect. Mechanics will tell you it is a common problem with Jeeps. Exhaust manifold failure is expensive to fix and can lead to multiple problems within in the engine it's self and the converters.

After returning from the grocery store, I parked the car in the driveway. 30 minutes later, I looked out the window to see black smoke coming out of the hood and the top of the hood was black & blistered. We dialed 911 to report this and the city of northampton, MA sent the fire department and police department. When the fire department arrived they were unable to open the hood release because it had been melted by the heat. They forcibly opened the hood and hosed down the engine compartment until it had cooled to a safe point. They filed a report and the police also filed a report. The car was towed to a local chrylser dealer that same day. On Monday, July 22, 2002 I notified my insurance company met life. They sent an appraiser that week who stated that the engine fire was caused by debris entering the intake manifold. I notified Chrysler manufacturing company at their consumer complaint number at 9am Monday July 22nd that there had been an engine fire in my 1997 Jeep Cherokee sport. I also received information that daimlerchrysler is recalling over a million sport utility vehicles from 1999 to 2002 because of a manifold problem that could cause an engine fire. Many of these cars were Jeep Cherokee models. It has been described to me by the mechanic and insurance appraiser that this is why my car had an engine fire. Today I am filing this complaint, July 29, 2002. Chrysler corporation has not returned my calls or gone to see the car and review the cause of the engine fire. I am not able to determine if my car can be safely repaired and avoid a recurrence of the same problem. I would appreciate it if you can investigate my complaint and review the cause of the engine fire in my vehicle to determine if it should also be subject to the recall. Can it be repaired so that the engine fire does not recur due to problems with the engine design.

First , this car was bought brand new with my ex-husband, nicolas jonville. We bought the car in October, 1997, from a Jeep dealer in des plaines, illinois. It was a sales done through International autosource. We then brought the car out to California. Since June, 2000, this car has expeienced O2 sensor problems, exhaust manifold crack, spring defective attached to right front shock, and fuel tank accuracy problem. I have a three year old child and drive this car just to take her to pre-sechool and shopping. I work out of the home. I believe the problems I have experienced in one years time are abundant. I don't drive daily into los angeles or san diego, California. I drive barely 20 miles a day. I do believe these problems do cause safetly problems for my daughter and myself. I have fears of stalling due to fuel problems. I have fears of hitting something that affect the spring on the highway and getting in a bad accident. I now have fears of driving the car long distances since the exhaust manifold crack caused me to eat too much gas. The car is only over three years old. I want some answers and will sending this information further with certified documentations of my letters, my reviews of mechanic views and the dealers documentation. The dealer has been non-supportive of fixing any of my problems without paying a high price when I believe these are manufacturer problesms.
When hitting a bump at 35 miles an hour car made a noise which sounded like the muffler fell off. Looking at engine, it was tilted and sitting on distributor. Mechanic had never seen anyting like it.

Passenger's door doesn't open, and alarm system goes on and off intermittently. Also, muffler system drags all the way down to floor. Dealership is aware of problem.
The manifold cracked.
