I just purchased my car January 4, 2021. I have had it cut off on me 4 times. Like shut completely off and it takes like 10 to 15 minutes to actually start back up. The shift gears message pops up, it cut the traction control automatically off so that light pops up. The check engine light and battery light pops up. I dont know whats happening but it almost caused an accdident twice on 695 highway because it shut off. Thank god the kids were not with me at the time. I am reading that his happens to alot of people with Jeeps. Wish I would have known that before purchasing. I just want a safe and reliable SUV for me and my children.

My Jeep was looked at under the w20 recall, it fixed the check engine light, but later came back up. I'm not sure if the recall was part of the check engine light, but I've tried to reset it, and that is not working. I don't feel the check engine light was fixed. Is there anything you can do? should I bring my Jeep to a Jeep dealer??.

I have taken my vehicle to the dealership two times for the check engine light that have replaced the blower the filters and so on. Every time the ac or heat comes on the car starts shaking and jerking while in traffic. The yesterday while driving back in to post the vehicle started jerking while in motion and the check engine light came on. I have spent a tile of about 700-800$ on this problem and it seems to be something that the dealership can not fix.

The Jeep started stalling when in motion/ driving about a month ago, it usually happened when braking to stop and the Jeep will not turn back on. It takes about three times to turn over and start back up. Yesterday while driving on a busier road the Jeep started throwing errors staying systems were not working, the check engine light came on and then when I tried to drive it through the stop light the vehicle would not shift or accelerate. I got it pulled over in a gas station parking lot and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle would not turn over the first couple of times and then it finally did. Not when I try to remote start the vehicle it will not stay running. Every time I have had this happen I have been driving on a city street and I am lucky I have not been in an accident as nothing works not even my hazard lights. I feel this vehicle is not safe to drive anymore. When the electric issue happened yesterday there was a red flashing lightening bolt on the dash and the traction control light was also flashing when it was telling me certain systems were not woking. I tried to get a picture but it did not take. I am current in canada at college and with the borders being closed I can not just drive to NY to get it looked at. I tried to call a Jeep dealer here but now one will return my calls.

Again the check engine light came on. This is our 2nd engine and the dealer says it is this new engine that needs to be replaced. The Jeep will idle rough, shift on it's own, all the same transmission issues. And now the parking brake locked up and I had to have it towed home. I assume it is the transimission because it still will throw it in neutral while driving.

While driving the service shifter lighter appears on dash and shifter position lights all light randomly and has been becoming more frequent. They turn off once I stop, turn the car off, and restart the car. I have read models previously have been recalled for this issue but not 2017 which appears to have the same issues. Also I've had to change my spark plugs at about every 50,000 miles. I replaced them once already and once again I am having the same issue the check engine light is on and at times the car is shaking from the misfiring. The check engine light remains on at a times. The check engine light flashes and the car is shaking the power and acceleration are significantly reduced when the spark plugs are actively misfiring. This only occurs with accelerating and pressing on gas pedal and happens constantly while driving. I've never had to replace spark plugs this often they usually last atleast 100,000 miles. There is a problem when they barely last for half that and require replacement atleast 2 times before they should go bad. These seem to be a common issue but when you ask the dealer they act clueless and something needs to be done. These are costly problems that should not be occurring or occurring this frequently. Please investigate.
Car stalled out going 25 miles an hour while driving on a side street. Temperature 102 at 3:02pm. Vehicle had only been running less than 30 minutes. All dash lights came on, scrolled thru each service notice {check engine, turn signals, etc. . } after 3rd attempt to restart vehicle, it started. Took 27 minutes. Once started, check engine light was on.
When turning, left or right my 2016 Jeep Cherokee stalled. It emitted a ding sound and flashed the message shift gear to park first. The battery light and check engine light illuminated and the engine shut itself off. I lost power steering and acceleration. It has happened 7 times since December 2019, sometimes multiple times a day. I suspect the oil level being low is the cause. But I have no indication that the oil level gets low.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced rough idling. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to quirk Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (830 plain st, marshfield, MA 02050) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that cylinder number 3 failed and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that low compression on cylinder number 3 showed internal failure with dtc number: p0303 (cylinder #3 misfire). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
An error that continues to come and go is to service shifter. it is apparent there are moments that the shifter sputters, the car will not shift gears (automatic) and refuse to accelerate. The check engine light also comes on for this. Deal ships do not seem to act aware of this issue, but it seems extremely prevalent online. It appears to be based on a faulty shift in the vehicle or bad wiring. However, the deal ships act like nothing is wrong but will change it for you for around $7,000. The car sputtering and refusing to shift while trying to accelerate is extremely dangerous from faulty components and needs to be investigated. It's clear a recall is needed for this.
Check engine light comes on and the vehicle stalls while driving. Dealership claims low oil between oil changes, we have the oil changed regularly at the dealership and do not exceed the recommended mileage between changes. This has occurred on main roads during times of high traffic and has put my family in danger on several occasions. This started happening with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle and has happened a total of five times now. The vehicle now has 36,000 miles on it and I'm tired of dealing with this issue.
The check engine light came on. Found out could be gas cap or bad fuel. Filled up when close to empty. Engine light disappeared. Was fine for month or so. Now check engine light on constantly. Checked w auto parts store. Computer reader said could be thermostat. Only three years old. Now has 40k miles. Start w engine problems already?.
While driving 30-55mph on multiple occasions the car lost all powersteering and the engine shut off for no apparent reason! terrifying experience , wouldn't restart for about 15 minutes on the side of the highway with no check engine light set before or after no other driveability problems present during this time.
In March, driving down red road - car suddenly stalled and then shut down completely. As it was shutting down, I was able to move it to the right lane as to avoid the traffic. Called tow truck and when they came, went to jump the car and there was no need - car started. Went straight to the dealer and they said it's an issue with this car that I can't wait until the oil is low. Pandemic came so didn't drive much - last Thursday, 7/18, I got in the car and it didn't start again - I waited a while and it hesitated starting. Finally started and went to do groceries. Leaving the store, the same thing happened, the car did not start at all, continued to try and it finally started. Took car to the dealer 7/17/20 - still 1,000 miles to go before next oil change and again, they said I have to do the oil change now every 2500 miles. The car has synthetic oil - I should not have to change every 2500 miles as the oil is also more expensive. Today 7/18, car did not start again, shut down completely. After several attempts it started and now the check engine light is on. Read online car has issues with the engine shutting down and stalling and there is a class action suit. I am afraid to drive it as it may stop in the middle of the road and it's a safety concern. Heading to the dealer again tomorrow morning because now the check engine light is on and continue to have the issue of the car not starting, shutting down and stalling.
The car started off by problems with the chip to compute that it needed to open the temperature control valve. So with that came the inability for me to start the car by being outside of it and also the check engine light would come on. Then our gears would light up as if the car was in ever position possible. We would park cut the car off and resume to drive. This problem persisted for a week or so went away and eventually came back. Now the engine feels as if it's giving out it doesn't accelerate well, I know it's a v4 but it should have maintained the get up the car has less than 50,000 miles on it and is well maintained with frequent oil changes with the best oil. Car is never driven on e or anything I don't understand how the car is failing this early. I heard Jeep's have been very dependable cars.
Driving my vehicle during rush hour traffic when the check engine light came on and a throttle issue message flashed, vehicle experienced a drastic loss of power causing an unsafe driving condition for myself and other motorists. This vehicle was purchased new with only 8 miles on the odometer, currently has 500 miles, vehicle has the 2. 4 liter engine and automatic 4x4 transmission. Contacted the Jeep dealer whee I purchased the vehicle and they did not mention that there could be a known issue with this Jeep, however after some research I found an article on the same identical issue being reported by multiple Jeep owners of the 2019 year model with the same 2. . Check engine light on, warnings auto/start/stop system failure. 4wd temporarily unavailable. Car stalls while in motion. Loses acceleration city and rural driving conditions. Engine knock from premature cam shaft wear.
I was leaving my neighborhood yesterday morning when my Jeep shut off without any warning or check engine lights and would not start. Thankfully I was still close to home and was able to go home in neutral! what if I were on the highway? or in the middle of an intersection! the screen said to put vehicle in park. The radio and lights still work but it does not start. I am financing this Jeep and have had it for 8 months from a dealership. I dont have an extended waranty and I dont know how to handle this. . . I looked up on carcomplaints. Com and found identical complaints to mine of theyre new Jeeps just shutting off mid drive. This needs to ba addressed. Im terrified of this car.
Check engine light came on. Took the vehicle to local Jeep dealership. Vehicle has approx. 38,000 miles and the thermostat housing assembly is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Told by dealership this is a common issue with 2015/2016 Cherokees between 30,000 and 40,000 miles. Vehicle is no longer under warranty. If this is such a common occurrence, shouldn't this be a recall? if ignored, this could lead to severe engine damage.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that water was leaking into the vehicle near the accelerator and brake pedal. The contact took the vehicle to key Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram - tobey auto group (2020 n detroit st, xenia, OH 45385; (937) 347-5155) who sealed the location where the leak was coming from. The contact stated about 5 months later, at approximately 36,000 miles, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealers who diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired by a certified mechanic, not the dealer. The contact then stated that about 7 months later at approximately 38,000 miles, the vehicle stalled at a stop light with the check engine warning light illuminated. The instrument panel also displayed the message to service the transmission. The contact contacted the dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
I had just had my vehicle 6 weeks driving from a stop to another stop. Car started chugging thought I hadn't given enough gas then I thought it powered down at the stop . Lights went out on both clusters went to accelerate chugged couldn't get across street check engine light came on I coasted to the side and it wouldn't start waited 15 min inched home about 3 miles called dealer sent a tow to pick car up had it for a week has same problem. They said to bring it back 500 miles when it happened has 3500 now afraid to drive. I need a vehicle can't leave for extended time and nothing is done.
Good evening! I purchased this 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus with only 10 miles on it. The first 1000 miles we had issues with the start/stop feature. The car completely shut off while in drive. I took it in and the dealership said there were 40 fault codes. They cleared them and moved on. It happened again but this time, the check engine light came on. They cleared that code again. The third time I took it it was when the car shut off again but this time the battery light came on and multiple lights were flashing. I took it in and they said there was a loose battery and wire. They fixed it and now we are having problems with the radio. The screen keeps flickering and make beep noises. It has even frozen up on us. We have documented all of this with videos and I would be happy to share that with you. After the 7th time bringing in the vehicle. The dealership is still unable to fix it. I tried to higher a lawyer to see if this is lemon but without the dealership diagnosing the problem, there is nothing we can do. I just want my brand new car fixed. I've read hundreds of other review with the same issues please investigate!! thank you!.
I just purchased this vehicle 3 days ago with 17,600 miles. , I have been experiencing the vehicle cut off when at a stopped position even if the gears are in drive. Today I attempted to turn on the vehicle but showed no sign of power, I waitied and tried again. Once I got the vehicle to run the check engine light came on. I do know there was a recall for this exact same issue and my vehicle seems to not have been repaired.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving, the check engine warning light illuminated, the contact coasted to the side of the road and called a friend who's came out as an independent mechanic san tested the vehicle and a failure code came up (p1d73), grill sutter. The independent mechanic lifted the hood and noticed that the front of the engine there was two plastic pieces of grill shutter detached. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 512,000. Aw.
While driving the car in the highway and with 3 kids in the car I had the brake ,abs, and check engine light up. I wasn't able to drive it afterwards. I had to turn off vehicle and wait a bit then turn it on again. This has happened to me several times. I have called the dealership and they have no recalls. My vehicle has 50,000 miles and has been doing this since it had 25,000. Thd dealership has advised me my warranty is expired and unable to fix it unless I pay out of pocket.
When driving the check engine light will come on. The vehicle then starts driving very rough shaking the whole car and it has reduced power.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the transmission failed. The vehicle was taken to auto plaza Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep ram 12830 mo 21 highway desoto, mo 63020 phone 636-337-7777 to have NHTSA campaign number 19v447000 (stuck transmission clutch) and NHTSA campaing number 16v529000 (transmission shift) corrected. However, the repairs did not correct the failure. The contact stated the when driving at various speed the gears shifted hard and jerk and hesitated to shift into gear. When the engine was started up the vehicle enteredlimp mode and the service transmission light illuminated and the service parking brake light illuminated, and the check engine light also illumiated. The vehicle was back to same dealer numerous times for the for the failure. The dealer updated the engine and transmission modules and software several times. However, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 85,000. Li.
Bought the car about 6 months ago started having issues with transmission shifting and took it in and they told me all it needed was a software update and still to this day I have even more issues car don't start at time and then when it does check engine light turns on and when I try to put it on drive I big a big club I noise and you can really feel the car shake from the shift and and says service transmission and then all of a sudden all the service light come of by far the worse car I have ever bought!! and tell this day I still have those issues.
While driving vehicle shuts off with out warning. Start is impossible for 30-45 seconds. No check engine light and no drivability issues before or after vehicle shut down. Has happened twice in the last few weeks.
My vehicle Jeep was in motion on the interstate when my service transmission light came on and I almost caused a major accident when my Jeep slowed way down. When I accelerated it would hardly move. Mind you I was on the interstate!! very scary experience. This is not the first experience I have had with my Jeep while in motion on highway it jumps bucks and revs up on its own when it was doing that I had to take it to be hooked up to tester to see why my battery light came on? had to replace coil pack #4 and I did it again 6 months down the road and had to replace coil pack #2. The check engine light stays on. My Jeep only has 59064 miles. I am very scared terrified and nervous driving me Jeep.
My Jeep Cherokee limited 2016's engine will shut off mid drive. This has happened to me three times while on the road for the past 4 months or so. I fear for my safety and that of my family and friends or whomever may be with me in my vehicle when this happens. The issue begins with the dash starting to flicker, the ac and radio will shut off, any actively enabled functions will shut off/disable (lane sense, cruise control, auto start/stop), two times out of the three, the vehicle engine shuts off seconds after, causing the greatest risk to safety since the vehicle is essentially cruising with no power whatsoever at an average of 70mph (mostly drive on freeways/highways), forcing me to pull over on the side of the road/shoulder in order to break to a full stop, place the vehicle on park and then restart the vehicle in order to get back on the road. I believe Jeep had issued a recall for this exact issue if I'm not mistaken (safety recall u63). I have taken my Jeep to a local dealership to get this issue fixed. I received the assessment from the dealership saying that the recall issue was fixed. A week after I went to the dealership the issue happened again, the check engine light came on but turned off after so by the time I took it to the dealership again, they "couldn't help me" since the check engine light was not on at the time. I also did not have a way to prove that this issue was happening still to my vehicle so I left disappointed and sure it would happen again at some point. As of today 28 March 2019 the issue happened again yesterday on the way to work around 0836am, luckily I was able to record a video of it as it was happening that I would be happy to share, the vehicle did not shut off during the video. I bought this vehicle new, in 2016, from a dealership in wa state.
This car continues to turn off while I am driving! today it turned off on me on an intersection! the car jerked, started to shake & then many lights came on. The check engine light, the battery light, the brake light, many more (please see picture attached) I bought the car at carmax. Had the exact same issue in November of 2018, got the car serviced under my extended warranty. Now, 4 months later the same issue happened. In November, they informed me the issue was the car fuel injector & a bad sensor in the transmission. Today's issues is still unknown, as the car has to be sent off for evaluation. But today was a very scary situation for me! I would hate this to happen to anyone with children in the car!.
Check engine light came on and it started stalling and won't go speed over 20 miles Jeep was brand new with about 45 miles on the odometer. Dealership tried fixing something to do with stored dtc-po6odd engine oil pressure stuck. On return did the same thing. Now going back to the dealer. Both times Jeep was on 59 south fwy. Potentially a dangerous situation.
Takata recall after starting the car and staying stationary starts to shake. While driving shakes even more and has stalled on me while driving with my toddler in car seat in back. Then it did it again 2 more times just glad my son wasn't in the car. Now check engine light lit up today Feb-6-2019. There have been plenty of complaints of these type of issues. My vehicle is under warranty still as it is a lease. I will not be leasing Jeep anymore.
