36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2015

My Jeep acts as if I turned the ignition off while going down the road. Today it did it again going down the highway at 65-70 mph. I have no additonal keys on the key chain. My seat is slid back and there was no contact with my knee and the ignition switch. I have a 2006 Jeep Commander and have complained about this since 2007. There is a current recall (p41 / NHTSA 14v-438), that I was finally notified about by my dealer a year ago but there are still no parts available to fix the problem. How long should a known safety issue be allowed to go on without a fix. Should we wait for someone to get into an accident and die?.

I think its terrible how Jeep/Chrysler cant fix a recall. . . When families got to drive a car that they know theres something wrong with them. . . . Since sept. . Everytime I stop at a red light or a stop sign my Jeep turns off. . I have to put it in park and start it up again. . . . I cant drive it on the highway because of this. . . And dealerships say they dont have the parts to fix it. . . . So Chrysler making the money they make cant help people trying to make a living when all they have is only one car and its a car they made. . .

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

I received a safety recall notice from Chrysler for my Jeep Commander stating that I may experience an unintended change in ignition switch position while driving, which could result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking, and increases my risk of a crash. I have called Chrysler group recall center 1-800-853-1403, option 6 countless times, unfortunately many times having to hang up after waiting 25 minutes to get through. I have also repeatedly called beyer/Jeep/Chrysler 973-644-3200 and they have been very short with me and tell me the same thing every time I call- they have no date of when the part will be in. When I drive on the highway, I am terrified of losing control of my car. I have seen on the news people that have been in accidents because of this ignition switch and heard that Chrysler has a buyout program. I am interested in finding out about this program because I think that waiting over a year, and with no resolution in sight, is a bit ridiculous and I don’t want to become a statistic. Please advice me as to what my next step should be.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

Vehicle was parked at the gas station. It was working fine previously. Had been at dealer getting routine maintenance done 2 weeks prior. After filling tank with gas, got in and car engine had loud bang followed by the sound of bucket of bolts. Car was then towed to dealer where I was informed the car needed a complete long block. After doing extensive forum research, I am finding that there are more reports of this problem. I also understand that Chrysler is aware of a design problem but will not admit or process a recall for this problem.

Engine idles when stopped and sometimes the Jeep lunges forward. Lights on dash come on intermittingly. Tires keep needing replaced even when getting the Jeep continually balanced and rotated. They wear down on the outer rim of front tires only. Have to keep getting new batteries because vehicle keeps dying. I have had more problems with this vehicle since I bought it new in 2006 than I have had with a car in a lifetime. Interior power stations dont work, passenger window will not close or open at times. Some times the horn will just start going off. I keep receiving recall notices almost yearly. Jeep needs to recall this vehicle. It has been a lemon from the second I brought it home.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

I was stopped at an intersection. When I proceeded to go across the intersection, the vehicle started going but very slowly no matter how much I pressed the accelerator and there were cars coming at me. It drove very slowly for a couple of blocks and I came to another stop. As I started to go into the intersection again, the vehicle started off very slowly even with the accelerator to the floor. As I proceeded it went a little faster but not much faster. My daughter informed me that this same thing happened to her earlier when she was driving the Jeep and she turned it off and she cut it off completely then restarted it and it ran fine. I proceeded to do the same thing(cutting it off completely and turning it back on) and it ran well again. When I took it to the dealership, they sad that they were unable to duplicate the same problem and can not fix what they can't find.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

It saddens me to write this letter concerning the poor service I received on my 2006 Jeep Commander at one of your dealerships. I purchased the car last November in manassas, va, and the car ran great up until about a month ago, when all of the indicator lights would come on and then the car would abruptly shut-off. This behavior went on for about a week and then I took it to the dealer (darcars Chrysler Jeep Dodge of new carrollton) located at x your Jeep service center diagnosed the problem to be the pcm assembly which cost about 800. 00, and was not covered by my extended warranty. After negotiating with the gwc warranty company, they agreed to pay half, which was 500. 00 and we paid the balance of 577. 00. After authorizing the repair, I was called on Saturday, August 17th to pick up the vehicle. Ironically, when I got in the vehicle, it wouldn¿t start. , so the mechanic had to give me a jump. After having the car home for a few days, the problem re-appeared again. The same exact symptoms! I called the Jeep dealership and the service center manager, leo, told me to bring the car back. This time I requested a rental car so I could continue to go to work while they diagnose my car again. They kept my care through the labor day holiday and informed me it was my battery. This doesn¿t make sense. I never had a problem with the battery until they started working on the car, so I had to pay an additional 277. 00 (including car rental charges) for a new battery. I picked up the car yesterday, September 5, 2013, and this morning, I brought my daughter to school and the problem occurred again! I am beyond upset and frustrated. I have spent over 800. 00, and my car is still not reliable.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2013

While driving on hwy 97 south, passing through redmond oregon, the engine on our Jeep Commander shut off. My husband and I had no idea what to make of the engine shutting off. We had not received a recall notice yet. When we did receive recall p41/NHTSA 14v-438 I waited until I would receive the next notification. I have never received a notice or a phone call since the initial notification. I have written to the NHTSA, written to Chrysler group llc and called the chryster group recall assistance center with an assigned customer care number 25941647. I have written to my congressman. I have many times called my local dealer who has give me the same response, "the parts are not available. " in good faith I purchased this Chrysler product. My complaint is that Chrysler sent me a notice indicating that my vehicle would be repaired and safe to drive. Chrysler is remiss. My Jeep Commander has yet to be repaired and continues to be unsafe to drive.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2013

I was driving down the highway at 55mph. And out of nowhere the car rpm's dropped to 0 and the car died. As I pumped on the gas I looked in the rearview to make sure I was not going to get hit. After that I turned the car off in the middle of the highway and put on my hazards. It then turned on and after will go to 2 rpm's and then start to jerk back and forth. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times so far and as of now the 3rd time and 3rd with a rental it finally happened to the mechanic at the dealership. And he has no clue his words. So in a two week frame time I have only had my Jeep 4 days why because they cant even figure out the problem. I have reported it to Chrysler dealership and checked for a recall and they said there is no recall as of yet. I worry because this could cause a accident and typically I have my wife and two children in the Jeep with me. If u go to carcomplaints. Com and look up. This model u will see there are up to 60 more incidents. But the dealership/Chrysler has yet to do anything. Hopefully it does not seriously harm the owner of the Jeep or a person who hits them.

63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

I was driving down the road and the engine just turned off, coasted to the side of the road and turned off the key and restarted engine, continuing down the road it happened again. 64 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

We have called Jeep to let them know what is going on with the vehicle. The computer to the transmission is putting in gears that are not correct. Sometimes u can let gas go and Jeep will be running 20 to 30 miles on its own. Also yesterday I put the Jeep on neutral and it went reverse real fast about 15 miles. The Jeep was level so no excuse why it should be going backwards on neutral. I have called Jeep and let them know and they tell me I have to take it to get fixed. I don't have the money to do this right now. This can really cause a accident if someone was in the back of my Jeep at that time . I took it to get checked at auto zone and they told me it was factory codes and they could not help but what the truck was doing could be very dangerous.

65 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

I have let the dealership only work on my car since I purchase the vehicle. 66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

Approx 2 miles from work - making a right hand turn at a light. Hazards on - taking precaution. . . Car behind me. Once I make the turn my car completely shuts off again. No brakes not steering - nothing. . . My car just happened to coast to the right as it is. . . . Car behind missed me by an inche of slamming into me. Waited a good 1/2 hour - my husband came and drove it the rest of the way to the work parking lot. I called Jeep in lugoff SC and like every other dealership out there - they have no memory of hearing of any 2006 - 2007 Jeep Commander problems. I have called chyrsler care 8009921997 - dealerships. . . They all make me out to be crazy. I am going to report them to the bbb as well. I have 3 children - 9,8, and 20 mths old. Chrysler must be waiting for someone to get killed. . . . I normally take the hwy to work - but today for some reason I decided to head to work on a back road. . . . . I can not believe with all the issues and complaints I have read about this same problem - that it is even legal to sell this car used,. . .
