The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the transmission had to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the torque converter and gear exchange solenoid needed to be replaced because the vehicle would not shift past second gear nor accelerate over 20 mph. The contact stated the vehicle also could not be driven in reverse. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 58,500. Updated 04/19/lj the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. Jeep reimbursed the consumer $1000 of the $3200 he spent.

2 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

2006 Jeep Commander stalled while on the highway and would not move. The vehicle towed to a service facility. The torque converter in the transmission came apart. The vehicle had 60,000 miles on it. Chrysler was no help at all. Transmission was replaced at a cost of $3200.

4 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would jerk and all the instrumental panel lights would flicker. The failures have occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they continued to state that the engine and transmission failed. The vehicle was repaired five or six times under warranty within the past two years. Recently, the vehicle would not restart after it was turned off. The failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 80,000. Updated 062909 the dealer discovered the front pump and torque converter were damaged. The number 6 cylinder misfired and the coil was cracked which was allowing water to get into the plugs. Updated 07/02/09.

5 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 12/01/2006

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving 40 mph, the transmission shifted into fifth gear. The vehicle failed to respond when the contact attempted to accelerate. The dealer stated that the torque converter locks too early. The failure mileage was 400 and current mileage was 13,000. Updated 01-15-08. The consumer stated there was an aggressive vibration between the speeds of 40-50 mph. The dealer was unable to rectify the problem, but did acknowledged there was a vibration. Updated.
