1 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/27/2006

I purchased the vehicle used in September 2006 from south bay mercedes in torrance California. It had less than 600 miles at the time of purchase. Following are dates a descriptions of a chronic problem regarding the Commander. 9/27/ mileage 1835 description: customer states that when going up any kind of grade and the brakes are applied, pedal was hard and vehicle will not stop. Also a grinding noise when brakes were engaged also on flat ground. Intermittent. Solution: undiagnosed. Test drove, did not duplicate customer concern. Star report# 8501436 11/17/ mileage 4704 description: customer states that when going up a hill at low speed and braking pedal goes soft and there is a noise and brakes fail grinding noise. Solution: undiagnosed. Unable to duplicate concern at this time. If concern persists recommend to return. 1/19/ mileage 8343 description: customer states that when going up a hill and braking vehicle makes loud noise and brake pedal goes hard. Solution: replacement of master cylinder. Found wet gummy wet substance in the brake. Unable to duplicate concern at this time. 3/5/07 mileage 10698 description: customer states that when going up hill and braking the brakes make noise and pedal goes hard. Solution: pending 3/6/07 reported problem directly to Chrysler at 800-992-1997 @12:31 pm. Representative karen took historical information and gave reference number 16014820. Pending call back after she speaks with dealership.
