This vehicle and others of this same year struggle with intermittent stalling when slowing down or stopping at about 100,000 miles. When this happens, the power steering no longer works and the vehicle will not restart, until placed in neutral and restarted.

There are 2 issues I am reporting. 1. ) the passenger front seat belt tensioner does not allow you to buckle the seat belt. 2. ) the vehicle will go into limp mode and shift into 3 gear. I disconnect the battery and wait about 15 seconds and the problem is magically resolved.
Codes u1403 and u1411. Driving down highway all gages stopped working, air conditioning stopped working, abs light going off, locks won’t operate, windows won’t open or close, rear door remained locked couldn’t get my child out of the car due to the rear door remaining locked. Technician unable to locate source of the problem. Jeep dealer has 1 month wait. Put my family at risk as it was 110 degree day. When it all occurred could smell electrical burning smell.

Vehicle randomly saying transmission over temp. Vehicle may or may not crank upon turning key vehicle downshifts to second gear while driving and has caused me to run off the road/slam on brakes to stop vehicle resets itself to where Jeep dealership cannot even trace wiring harness for shorts or check to see if transmission control module works properly after having my Commander from August to December. Suspect faulty transmission control module/short due to poorly designed wiring and parts on manufacturer's behalf. Other issues include random codes with each new code reader, stereo wiring issues, vehicle changing from v8 to v4 randomly while driving, consuming excessive gas amounts only receiving 9 miles per gal of fuel extremely dangerous to drive and do not feel safe.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the dealer had performed the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) on the vehicle; however, after the repair, the key fob and the radio became inoperable. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the ignition switch was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer referred the contact to an independent technician for the reprogramming of the key fob. The contact stated that he took the vehicle to a second dealer, Chrysler of lawrenceburg (1181 bypass s, lawrenceburg, ky 40342) instead; however, the dealer informed the contact that the key fob could not be reprogrammed. Additionally, the contact stated that the ignition switch failed, which required the contact to jiggle the ignition key inside the ignition switch several times to start the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,468.
My Jeep will not crank sometimes. . . The key will not turn. The ignition control module seems to be a problem.

Vehicle periodically loses signal from right rear pressure monitor, displaying — in place of thenpressure reading. Evic displays “service tire pressure monitoring system”, tpms indicator light blinks. Took vehicle for service, they replaced the tpms sensors. Issue reoccurred. Returned to servicing dealer, right rear tpms sensor again. Issue reoccurred. Servicing dealer indicates that part number 5026189ah likely needs replacing but part shows out of stock. Contacted Jeep customer care and they confirmed part has been discontinued and no replacement part is available. Tpms system no longer works reliably.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the radio would make abnormal ticking sound while starting the vehicle with the ignition key. The contact also stated that the vehicle also had lost motive power and stalled while accelerating from a complete stop. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times. The contact stated while driving above 40 mph uphill with his 8 months pregnant wife sitting in the front passenger’s seat, the vehicle shuddered, stalled inadvertently and started rolling backwards. The brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The contact stated that he was unable to shift into park (p) as the gear shifter was stuck. The contact turned the vehicle towards a wall to avoid crashing into another vehicle, and the vehicle stopped. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that he would be charged a diagnostic test fee. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.
Started the vehicle by inserting the key fob. Turned the key and the vehicle dash lit up and went out immediately. Tried to turn the key again and nothing happened. Could not turn the key and it was difficult to remove the key fob from the ignition.
I have a similar if not the same complaint as the one on file here form liverpool, TX on 12/14/21 - I also have a 2007 Jeep Commander and am having issues with the ignition and contact to start the vehicle. The key at time gets stuck in the ignition, is difficult to turn the ignition and rarely turns on on first turn. . . It has a failure of contact. . . And usually requires various attempts to actually ignite and turn engine on. When researching on social media this is a large complaint from owner of vehicles of same make year and model please advise.
The electrical system of my car malfunctioned intermittently causing lights, ac, and the engine itself to go off and on in the middle of the freeway. There was a recall on the 2010 Jeep Commander (same as my car) for faulty electrical system, yet my VIN was excluded. I believe it should have been included in the recall and this faulty electrical system was the cause of multiple repairs done at my expense to the tune of a couple thousand dollars. I ask for a query into this. The electrical system is the nexus of a car’s mechanical system and if not functioning correctly causes all else to eventually fail. The lights would not turn off after I turned them off, removed keys, and exited vehicle. Various lights would flash on the dashboard then suddenly disappear not providing enough time to read them. Many or all dashboard lights and ac would go out intermittently sometimes reappearing shortly later. Sometimes the car would shock me while driving on the freeway and therefore poses a safety threat to everyone else and me. Ultimately the engine went out while on the freeway. Jeep takes close to a month to fix a power control module and fuel pump replacement and fuel line. Reconsider requiring them to extend the electrical system recall to more 2010 Jeep Commanders. An electrical system main control is not a typical thing to need to replace in a low mileage car.
The win module malfunctioned not allowing my vehicle to restart after stalling on the interstate. Since then, I have not been able to start my vehicle. Apparently there’s a recall on this exact same win module for the exact same year make and model of my vehicle but yet I was informed that my VIN wasn’t qualified under the recall for some reason.
The truck shuts down and loses all electrical most usually when slowing down for a light or coming to a stop. Most times except for one it turns back on right away. We have had numerous fixes and yet it still keeps happening. This is apparently a common keep Commander issue. I am scared to travel with my kids in it.
Was driving cars engine started shaking was stalling losing power in the middel of the road engine light came on we barely male the car home it was stalling out happend only less than 5 miles from home put code reader on vehicle had 5 codes one was power train and other spark plug ect going out dealer ship they had it towed the tow truck driver couldn't get the 2 front tires to move took him 2 hrs finally he told me he had to remove my drive shaft to tow it the dealer ship cleared the codes told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle and I have to come get it and drive it home 1 hr 30 min from there I am not willing to do that it's unsafe also they sold it to me with broken seat belts and a water leak that flood in entire front of the car so now my car is sitting there and I have no help on this. They refuse to fix anything except the seat belts and won't tow it back to me.
It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. As is warranty.
I was in the freeway going 68-70 mph with my wife and kids where a red lightning ?? appears on the upper right corner, vehicle steering locked and tuned off while cars were coming. I was able to turn vehicle back on and move to the right of the freeway. Turns out it has a recall on it. I took it to browning Dodge in norca CA. They say they fixed my recall I picked up my Jeep , it drove ok for a few days and it started doing the same malfunction. They said they are unable to work on my vehicle due to throttle body that was replaced by a professional mechanic.
The contact owns a 2008jeep Commander. The contact stated while at a standstill the vehicle stalled randomly and was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where it was not diagnosed. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with, NHTSA campaign number: 10v200000 (electrical system) however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of failure and told the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.
Woke up and it wouldn’t crank, been driving it every day, ignition module front control module may be bad like stated in the recall, won’t turn over or crank, transmission input output sensors idk maybe transmission module, wouldn’t go over 40 I’m wondering if my Jeep has problems like stated in the recall. Technicians at james ceranti Chrysler Dodge Jeep says it’s electrical.
The vehicle will completely shut down (stall) randomly while driving in motion. This happens randomly but consistently. This has happened while driving on highways in speeds of excess of 55mph and on other roads going as slow as 10mph or while in reverse. When this happens, the oil light and check engine light come on and the vehicle locks up with no power steering. The vehicle will start back up again after a few seconds when you turning the key.
Electrical system is failing. Began with the electrical sunroof will not open/or slide all the way open, the sunroof electrical problem has been this way since I purchased it in 04/2019. Next the touchscreen panel for the radio am/fm, will shit off while driving down the road randomly and sporadically. Cd player quit working indefinitely, I cant even get my cd out of the cd player. Will not play any cd or radio if cd player is attempted to be activated. Airbag warning light is showing on dash 24/7, however, vehicle has never been wreaked. No airbag been deployed. Vehicle has never been in a wreak. Caused injury due to rough and rugged suspension and while driving the vehicle throws passengers and driver. Has been serviced & checked. Has failed to start 23 times in a row. Checked alternator, starter, ect. 7-10 minutes of attempting to start without luck. Professional mech. Claimed its the electrical system; pro mechanic fixed problem. Problem persists with electrical system has caused the gears to slip while cruise control is actively in use and if going up a hill rpm's will sky rocket from 1 to 6 in a heartbeat. Jeep Commander is a v6 but drives as a 4 cylinder. Driving on highway is dangerous when electrical system breaks down without warning. This has scared my fiance and I several times for fear of our lives. Suspension and shocks do not work well, as the slightest bump is rough and rugged throwing passengers & driver around. All these defects never occurred until 2021. Electrical system is the most important component of the vehicles makeup it makes everything run smoothly and every single day I have electrical system problems that effects my safety and anyone in my 08 Jeep Commander. This is a manufacturer problem, I know this because a professional mechanic informed me of this and asked me to request a recall on my vehicle. Please help to correct these issues for the safety of all those on the road. Thank you for your time and consideration. God bless.
Front and shutters and feels like it may vibrate of the road. Also the trans slips into neutral.
Ignition switch recall which was issued on my Jeep Commander was addressed and ultimately an appointment was made upon availability. However, since the recall, the Jeep will not function normally upon initial start up attempt progressively into more attempts thereafter. Connection between key switch and cylinder not responding to connection, lack thereof. This occurred at first seldom to more and more random periodic "no signal, no start". Recalls are supposed to fix the initial severe problem, correct? not result into another problem that wasn't present before, right? found my time fruitless in getting clarity of this issue resolved from dealer. What can I do? what should be done? as the consumer we will feel the job done wasn't done correctly. Fact is there were not any start up issues prior to the recall addressed and ignition switch replaced/fixed?.
I have a Jeep Commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn’t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my Jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my Jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won’t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is one of the recalls, my VIN number isnt part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I’m still encountering the same issue as the recall. I’ve taken it to my mechanic he cannot seem to find the problem. I need help I just bought this car! it’s our family car so it’s not only affecting me it’s my entire family. My husband, my two year older and my elderly parents.
The Commander turns off on its own, brakes on its own, the alarm does its own thing, the esp/bas lights are on, buttons on dash don’t work most of the time, sunroof drain is faulty, and leaks rivers of water into my car! also had my brakes to seize up on me and I couldn’t move from a danged stop sign. I just want a vehicle I can rely on.

My vehicle died in the middle of me driving without warning. I was on a main road turning into a mcdonald's when my car died. I was going about 20 when my car died. My steering locked up, couldn't brake or accelerate, and had to pull over and turn my car off to and back on to get it running again. Once I got my car started again the idle kept pulsating above one thousand rpm and would have to keep it in neutral at a stop so it would lurk forward.
While driving my Jeep would just shut off. I would have to restart it and it would shut off again, sometimes at high speeds.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the imposable fuel volume signal received message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) and took the vehicle to gwinnett Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (5054 GA-78, stone mountain, GA 30087) where the recall was serviced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,678.
While driving al dash lights will light up and heat will shut off. . Come back on and happens again. There's no certain times it happens wheneve it wants to between 1-15 times a day driving and parked. Sunroof leaks through tubes into passenger side floor board and freezes windshield if temp is low. Transmission overheated warning comes on and transmission/ and or fluid is fine. Have had all issues checked and they can not find the problem! also need is reading code that suddenly my key isn't registered since this has been happening and my auto start won't work because of the key not being linked to my car anymore. This is unsafe and eventually will stop me from being able to drive my car. The lights all come on and then go off while driving on any street any speed or even parked. Heat shuts off while lights are on and comes back on after they shut off.
This has been the 3rd time this type of event happens, the first time was at a city street driving straight forward at 30-35mph and the engine started stalling, truck completely went off, head lights would go on and off, along with my interior dashboard indicators and media center. Second time, same thing, and the third time while driving at about 35-40mph in a city street and gradually slowing down to 10-15mph to make a left the truck completely went off, head lights would go on and off, along with my interior dashboard indicators and media center. It seem like I had turned off the engine completely for like a split second. I though it might've been that I hit the key with my knee, but I pulled over restarted the engine after 15 min, and the problem continued. All the lights would go on and off and the engine power would shut down, when putting the gears, it would sound very forcing. I turned it off again and waited 30 min, restarted the truck again it did the problem for a few seconds and then it was like nothing ever happened.
Intermittent starting issue. This is my only vehicle, I have 2 kids with special needs and need to get to important appointments. I start my 2007 Jeep Commander, I get to where I am going, when I go to restart my vehicle it sometimes doesn't want to start. It will crank over just refuses to start. I have had multiple mechanics look at my Jeep and no one can figure out reasoning to this intermittent starting issue. I have put so much money and work into my Jeep for it to keep doing the same problem. The last mechanic I took it too seen code error in the display window on dash transmission over temp when he had tried to start it. It does not do this every time the will be days it continuously starts every time then there are days that it's intermittent, and days it will not start at all. The mechanic starting lookin on Jeep forums about this issue there are tons of reports of the same issue but no solution. My mechanic said Jeep is aware of the issue but there is no recalls on this issue. He said he believes it is a programming issue the car thinks the transmission is over temp so it sends signal to the engine that it's too hot and the engine sends signal to the fuel pump that there is a temperature issue do not turn on. When it cranks over it acts as if it isn't getting any fuel at all. I have purchased a new fuel pump and some other parts the issue is happening. I bought the Jeep in April of 2020 off of another owner, the issue didn't start with me until January of 2021, the previous owner mentioned anything about this happening to them when I asked them. Can something please be done about this issue so myself and thousands of other 2007 Jeep Commander owners can get back to enjoying our vehicles???? thank you for taking your time and reading this complaint.
The check engine light comes on after starting the shifter stays in 3rd and will not shift in drive just 3rd gear leaving me to only drive in 3rd. Also it won't start faulty start several times prior the check engine light coming on.
2006 Jeep Commander vehicles is shutting off randomly while driving and the steering wheel is locking up. Also the lights on the dash board flicker randomly. Mechanics could not find anything wrong. There is no recalls on my specific VIN but for other 2006 Jeep Commanders. I do not want my family and I driving down the highway and it's does this and we die then you finally say oops yeah there's a recall on that. . .
Worst vehicle ever! we got it with around 98k miles on it, and it now only has 103k miles on it and in the last 4k we've put over $5k into it trying to get it to run. We had to put a new transmission in ($2k) and have the lifters in the engine replaced ($2,600). Currently it's been shutting off on its own a few seconds after I start it and giving random "transmission over temp" and "service 4x4 system" messages even though there's not a problem with those systems. I turn the key, it runs for 3 seconds, then shuts off. Sometimes it does this several times in a row and then won't start at all. Other times it starts fine so it's ridiculously hard to diagnose. Sometimes when it's doing it's shut down bit, you can get it to stay on a little longer by revving the engine, and it will let you pull out of the driveway, but then shuts off in the middle of the street. The sun roof leaks horrifically, even after I've tried the "clip the nipples off the bottom of the hoses" trick.
The car stalls all the time. Driving and it will just stop on a dime.
