I bought a 2016 Jeep Compass brand new from the dealership. After only three years (72,500 miles), the transmission completely failed while I was driving on a major highway. The Jeep, which is a manual 5 speed transmission, would not shift into any gears. It made horrendous grinding noises as the vehicle failed and failed to shift into gear. Prior to it completely dying, it was stalling out on me and slipping out of second gear while driving it. This is a safety concern, not to mention how disappointing that a car which is only three years old would have a transmission that completely failed on it. The Jeep was well-maintained and garage kept. It was never driven anywhere except main roads and highways.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the transmission slipped out of gear and the vehicle almost crashed into a fire hydrant. Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat manhattan (678 11th Ave, new york, NY 10019, (212) 549-2208) stated that they could not replicate the failure and conducted a safety inspection. The vehicle passed the inspection. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that a case manager would review the matter. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 8,500.

Second time this issue has been a problem. First time electrical issues prevented car from shifting out of gear and car will not shut off, I had to pull fuses to get car to shut down. Emergency parking brake would not even engage. So my daughter had to hold the brake because said auto was stuck in reverse for over one hour. This is a brand new car. It is my belief that this dealership was not truthful in disclosing the issues with this car. Web shows several instances of this happening, why has the nthtsa not recalled these vehicles with this same setup. I believe it's times that this car gets replaced by the manufacturer.
