Fuel pump relay safety recall : electrical system issue with tipm-7 power module, recall # v62 (19v813000) Nov 14, 2019, told tommy wallis at dallas Chrysler, dallas georgia about this issue back in Dec 2019. Problem: the tipm-7 could fail causing the engine to stall increasing risk of a crash. Vehicle will not crank at times, vehicle will seam to be out of gas due to the fuel pump stopping during operation. I have told this to the dealer but nothing done to repair this safety issue. This is my wife's daily use vehicle and this issue must be repaired ASAP or Chrysler can furnish a loaner vehicle until the issue is resolved on my 2011 Jeep.
The fuel pump relay is defective. This has already been recalled but the patch "fix" Jeep does does not solve the problem completely and they know this. There is an issue with the computer which does not send correct signal to fuel pump. On start car will not start often because it is not receiving any fuel. I am afraid this cheap "fix" Jeep came up with will cause the fuel to go out while driving. The biggest defect with the car is the v-8 hemi cam shaft and lifters. Every mechanic I have taken my car too has said that Jeep knows it is a problem but will not fix. I was driving 70 mph when my Jeep lost power and the check engine light came on and started flashing which with the loss of power cause me to just about have a wreck on the highway. It was a very scary scenario. I took it to my trusted mechanic who foudn a cylinder 2 misfire & performed a tune up and he said I needed to report the problem to Jeep as they are known to have sever problems. The dealer charged me to "diganose" the problem and reported back that the lifters and cam shaft need to be replaced. This has been such a bad problem for Jeep the lifters have been on back order multiple times but they will not admit it is a problem. My car has less than 100,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained and now lookin g at rebuilding an engine and Jeep will only provide 2 year warranty or the work, which shows they have no trust in the fix and there is a fatal flaw with the v-8 hemi. Please force Jeep to honor their customers and correct the known mistakes with their engines.

For the last several months my Jeep will not start all the time. It has shut down twice in the middle of the road while I was in 45 and 60 miles a hour traffic. I was able to turn my wheel to get into the far right lane. It is very unsafe and Jeep doesn't seen to care to correct the problem.
Jeep will crank but not start over, have replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump and the batteries in both fobs vehicle will not start. On the rare occasion I get the Jeep to run it will randomly shut off. . . . Last time I was on the freeway going 65mph when the engine shut off and I was almost rear ended because of the Jeep slowing down substantially my 6 year old daughter was in the car and I was terrified.

2/9/16 I remote started the Jeep for about 3 minutes while I gathered my stuff up to leave. I drove the car approximately 4 miles. At the stop light I noticed my steering wheel was locked. I put my hazards on, put the car in park and started it up again. The car started just fine. 2/13/16 I drove for about 3 miles and as I was going downhill and I was slowing down to turn right the car stalled. If there was not a concrete curb in the turn lane I would have hit the cars sitting at the stop light. I had no breaks and the curb stopped my car. 8/20/16 I get in the car get on the freeway which is ¼ mile from our house. We drive approximately 6 miles (speed limit 70 mph) as I take an exit ramp and my car stalls right before I hit the stop light. My car has never shown an code and no one dealership knows what to do. From my research stalling is a major issue with 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees. I have never had a car stall on me until I got this car. I got new key fob batteries in February 2016 and sometimes the car will not start and I will get an error saying "key not detected".

On or about April 20, 2015 I had just driven my Jeep about 20 miles to get groceries came home unloaded and went back to start Jeep to go pick up grand daughter at school and the Jeep would not start. It would crank for about 30 seconds and then stop. Tried to start 5 or 6 times. Took my truck to get grand daughter. Called Chrysler and they sent dealer to get Jeep. About an hour later Jeep started then but they took it to check it out. After 5 days they told me I need a new battery. They wanted $355. 31 for new battery. Took Jeep to 2 parts stores and they checked the battery and said it was stronger than what was posted on battery. On may 7, 2015 I was out at store and Jeep would not start. Tried about 6 or 7 times and then it started without my foot on brake but would not go into gear. Restarted and was fine. Called dealer and took back on may 8, 2015. Dealer kept Jeep over night and told me I needed a new battery. Bought a new battery through my son in laws shop cost me $122. 14. The dealer charged me $90. 00 for the test. So I am out of $212. 14 as of now. Today June 13,2015 I went to start my Jeep and it would not start. Same as both times before. I know the problem is with the tipm and no test will show that there is a problem with it. Called Jeep hot line and they said there is no recall on this and no reports. To take it to the dealer and have them test it again that they could not help me with this problem because my Jeep was out of factory warranty. I only have 32989 miles on my Jeep. It only had 32627 on the second visit to dealer. I have extended warranty on the Jeep but they charge $50. 00 if the test don't show up a problem. So I am between a rock and a hard place. Where do I go from here. I know there are a lot of reports on here about the same problem I am having. Thank you for your time.

My Jeep would not start. I checked online and found many people had the same problem however some said that when they got the vehicle to start it would suddenly quit running while driving. I brought the vehicle to the dealer who explained that the electrical connection to the fuel pump was the problem and that they would have to replace the tipm. The service writer said that this problem was more prevalent on the 2011 model. If it is true that this is a defective part and that the fuel could shut off at any time, this certainly seems like a safety issue.
Engine did not start.
Vehicle would not start. Dealer replaced fuel pump relay, mentioned many people were having this issue and that Chrysler may have/need to recall so keep receipt. Suspect it may be the tipm.
When you push the start button it doesn't start but if you push it 3 to 4 times after hesitation it starts as long as you pull your foot away from the brakes but a mechanic told me that he hears the fuel pump coming on and staying on even though the car isn't running. I called Chrysler on Monday the 15th of September and according to them and the local dealer I had to pay to repairs and it sounded like a tipd problem or a fuel pump or this or that but I had to bring it for them to look at and they will give me an estimate. I have a government vehicle to drive to work and back and I had to depend on other people to get to places and use the Jeep when I have to yet it takes a few minutes to get it started until I can file a complaint after all the vehicle has low mileage and sounded like a defect. Thankfully I heard on the national news yesterday that they are recalling the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee for that same problem and after reading other complaints on the same year vehicle it was like seeing a carbon copy of my complaint. What happened to me and my children when the Jeep stalled on camp kanata rd. In wake forest, nc will not be forgotten. It frightened me mainly for my child. She was worried that we were going to be hit from the rear when the Jeep stopped suddenly only 100 ft. From leaving the driveway of camp kanata. We thought we had a flat tire or that the vehicle will not start again but again thankfully we weren't hit.
As I was trying to leave work on sept. 10, Jeep wouldn't start. It would try for a minute, the whole thing would shake, and then it would turn off. I tried again, Jeep started fine and drove home fine. The next morning when I was headed to work, the Jeep wouldn't start - same shaking thing, I tried 5 times and it would never come on. Started researching online and looks like we've fallen victim to the tipm problem I keep reading about.
Vehicle will not start. I am told it is related to a tipm failure. 1300 dollars to fix on a car that is out of warranty with less than 20k miles. The part is also ok back order for over a month. I am told there could be random deployment of airbags also.
Bought this vehicle in June 2014 with 36,700 miles on it from somerset Jeep in somerset MA. 1st issue was car was having trouble starting. Taken to quirk Jeep in marshfield MA on September 5th issue was fuel pump circuit does not power up in tipm installed relay harness and fuse starts fine now. Car starts smoking, which terrifies me and my 7 year old son for fear of the Jeep blowing up or catching on fire! so I have to have it towed to quirk by aaa on Thursday October 16th. They tell me that it is a problem with the module in the fan. The whole fan has to be replace for $1000. 00. Don't get car back til Monday night October 20th. It isn't covered under warranty and I can't get a rental car unless I pay for it. I can’t work or do anything! quirk gave me a break and only charged me $400. 00 but that is still a lot of money for a single mom who was without her car for ¿4 days. 3. Wednesday October 22nd my check engine light comes on. The issue is evap leak, star case open for fuel filler tube. Ordered filler tube as not in stock. Quirk says they will help out again a little, but charge is going to be around $400. 00 but won't know until it gets fixed sometime next week and it takes about 2 hours for repair. More time lost from work. 4. November 16th---car will not start. It will not turn over or make any noise. I have no money for christmas! what do I do? please help me!.
Car will not start and fuel pump will not shut off. The issue is related to the totally integrated power module (tipm).
Faulty tipm (totally integrated power module) that needed replacement. Vehicle would not start. Repair cost $1350. Dealer was familiar with the problem once I mentioned the issue I was having and mentioned he had just replaced one in a durango. I did a little online research and am finding out that this is a common, expensive and known Chrysler issue. I'm hoping a recall is conducted and that owners who have had to pay for repairs are reimbursed.
Vehicle would not crank over when attempted to start. After several attempts, vehicle eventually started. Flash updates were previously performed on the vehicle to address this issue; however, updates did not prevent issue. Dealership diagnosed problem as faulty tipm. Tipm replaced.
Tipm part needs replacing-faulty part. Vehicle will not crank.
On August 14, 2014 my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee would not start. Over the next two weeks the starting issued got continually worse. The day I took it into the shop to have looked at it took 8 to 12 times to start. The vehicle will crank but not start. The technician performed diagnostic testing and found no fuel pressure when not starting. Technician found fuel pump not being turned on when key is turned. Technician installed a relay overlay harness for tipm circuit. Diagnosis - faulty tipm.
The Jeep would not start on the first try. It either cranks and cranks and never turns over, or it turns over but never reaches a good idle state and just shuts off. After a few attempts, it would finally start and be ok until the next time I leave it alone for an extended period. I believe the symptoms I am experiencing are the same as those that have been reporting a problem with the tipm, which seems to be a very pricey item that Jeep (Chrysler) knows is faulty and have done nothing about. Not to mention that it is also an item that is on national back order with a class action lawsuit filed as well.
Problem started a few months ago with my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle wouldn't start with the push button nor the key. The problem progressively got worse to the point of taking up to ten minutes to crank the Jeep. Would turn the ignition to "run" for several minutes before the vehicle would start. Once the repair shop located the source of the problem, the Jeep wouldn't crank at all. Had to replace the tipm to the tune of $1200. 00 and two weeks in the repair shop.
Vehicle would not start; repeated attempts to start vehicle (5 times) and no success - vehicle started on the 6th attempt. This problem has reoccurred several times since the initial problem. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer on 07/07/2014.
