This is the second time in six months that I have had a major problem with my key fob affecting my engine. I am afraid this may be an ignition switch problem but the dealer keeps telling me it's the key fob battery. The first time my car would not start and the engine was dead. They replaced both key fobs 6 months ago and told me they were defective. This time when I pushed the button the engine made a screeching rattling sound, the engine light came on and the car would not turn off. Eventually it did and I tried it again and the same thing happened. The car was towed 30 miles to the dealer and they told me the key fob battery needed to be replaced. I asked the service technician if their computer showed that my engine light came on and he agreed but told me that they could not find the problem, other than the key fob battery. I told them both key fobs were new. I have only had this car for 3 years and it only has 11,605 miles on it. How on earth can a key fob cause engine problems? I may not be an expert on cars but I'm not stupid. I believe it may be something to do with the ignition. I hope Jeep fixes this before there are any accidents or deaths. I now feel I am forced to purchase an extended warranty for over $2,100. 00 because I'm afraid of what might happen when my factory warranty expires next month. I don't think I would ever buy a new car again. The old ones seem more reliable. I am afraid to drive this car now, knowing it has electrical issues that the dealer can't seem to find the reasons why. Key fob battery? I find this very hard to accept. I would like the old key ignition - I don't trust these push button ignitions. My 2011 Jeep is still at the dealer but they have told me it's ready for pick up.

During the cold winter months in nyc the vehicle failed to start after a few attempts it did actually start. The rear door latch opens but the door doesn't actually open so I need to get out and open the door and close it to remove the door open symbol on my dashoboard. Then the door will do the same thing 3 or 4 times in a row. Also the real glass window doesnt open, but then will open on its own for no reason.

After much research, I have found that my tipm is bad. My vehicle started experiencing issues with starting and stalling in January of 2014 (@ just over 30k miles). Initially I did not think much of the problem as it was in January and cold here in colorado. The problem mildly continued in Feb and March. . . Fast forward to July 2014 and the problem became more prevalent. I finally have an appointment with the local dealership to look at the problem (tomorrow - 28august2014). It is now a daily occurrence that my vehicle will not start without many attempts and once it does start, it stalls and the engine turns off.
Vehicle fails to start multiple times. Turned off while backing up multiple times. It is currently on a Jeep service dealer, they indicated failure on the "tipm" module. The replacement is on backorder, with no specific date for arrival and installation.
Vehicle fails to start multiple times. Came close to stalling a few times. Same symptoms as mentioned by many with the tipm module. I believe this to be a very important safety issue as well as financially and emotionally. No warning as to when and where the problems can arise.

Apparently I am one of many with a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that will not start on occasion. Also had issues with key not locking or opening doors and other odd electrical issues happening. For instance last night when I parked the car and turned off the engine, I could hear something continuing to run on the drivers side under the middle of the car, like a fan running ? it ran for about 1 hour, I started and stopped the car a few times, and turned off all air/fan etc. ,, it finally stopped ! I took the car to the dealer they indicated the updates were needed for the pcm, tipm and wcm, this was done (flash updated) cost me $135 dealer said tipm was covered but not pcm or wcm. However this did not correct the issue, still having problems, took back to the dealer, left all day, they now say tipm needs to be replaced. Only 37k miles on car, two years old ! love this Jeep - but worried ! dealer says new tipm will be here in 10 days ? dealer manager has contacted Chrysler and they will "goodwill" the tipm - because I am only 1k over warranty, but I cover $100 charge for labor? I am scared the tipm will never come ! meanwhile I am still driving this car, its my only vehicle, and still making payments on it. Feel like I need to trade it in before it dies !!! but I own too much ! worried that it will get worse and worried a new tipm will not fix the problem ! help!.
2 weeks ago my car would not start, did get it started, took to dealer ship. Its apparently the timp module. This part is on back order I was told it would be in this week its not and they are not sure. It take a few tries to get it started. And twice it stalled while driving. And its making a knocking. May I add this started at 36600. Miles.
My vehicle would not crank and stalls. Battery replaced, $179. 00 later. Mechanic told me that it had updates and reflashed those for $50. 00 and advised me to take back to the dealership for an integrated module. After service evaluated my Jeep, I was told that the problem existed in the tipm. This product is on at least a 6 week back order and that is not a guarantee. Also, there have been no recalls on this product. I have a busy commute to work in heavy traffic. My Jeep stalled on the interstate and I had to veer toward the ditch to avoid an accident. If I were hit, would my airbags even deploy? this is a safety violation!.

The contact also mentioned that the battery was being drained so the fuel pump fuse had to be disconnected. Car will not start or operate at all due to a bad tipm , this problem is now wide spread through the nation with Jeep / Chrysler customers. My Jeep will be at the dealer ship for about 3 weeks waiting for the back ordered tipm to come in.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact attempted to start the vehicle several times before the engine engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the total integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
My Jeep failed to start on the first 4 attempts. This was one of the many times it has failed to start. My service tech told me it needs a tipm, total integrated power module and that they are know by Jeep to be defective and Jeep needs to recall these before there are anymore accidents. I was also told it will take weeks for a replacement tipm due to the demand of the bad ones being replaced. I was also told this is around a $1300 repair. I bought a extra 5 years warranty and now need to get a rental and have it fixed before it leaves me stranded along the road.
December 5, 2011 vehicle remote started, shut off and failed to restart. Taken to dealership, related that it was a key programming issue. December 9, 2011 vehicle would not start, towed to dealership, related that it was a climate control module. December 12, 2011 vehicle would not start, taken to dealership, related it was a "totally integrated power module" and a block fuse. Vehicle remained out of service until January 11, 2012. January 11, 2012 vehicle picked up driven 170 miles, turned off would not start, towed to dealership. January 17, 2012 dealership related that the vehicle had a undetermined electrical issue and the problem was not resolved, Chrysler had open a "Chrysler star case" on the vehicle. January 18, 2012 contacted by dealership relating that the vehicle was fixed, replaced battery and that resolved all problems. Vehicle has had four separate electronic component failures and has not been picked up since release date January 18, 2012. It is my belief that the vehicle still has an electronic anomalies that render the vehicle unreliable.
Vehicle will not start. Apparently all of the 2011 SUV Jeep Grand Cherokees have the issue with the tipm. The part will cost me over a thousand dollars to repair and the part is on backorder. In the meantime, I have no transportation to get to work. I have bad knees and a bad back and cannot continue taking the bus. I am a teacher and have been late getting to school for the past 2 weeks.
Purchased 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo new from dealer mick's north hills Chrysler. Have had vehicle in for repair or reprogramming of passive entry and pushbutton start multiple times. The problem began happening the day after it was purchased. Repair took quite a while and also had downtime where vehicle shut itself off when driving at least twice. The original problem was corrected after multiple visits and calls to dealer. The problem began happening again over past couple of weeks with "key not found". One week ago Saturday (4/30) the vehicle would not start using either key nor when removing push button and attempting to start with key inserted. It would crank and crank but not start. After leaving sit overnight it started the next day. But still getting intermittent "key not found". The dealer took the car in for service again on 5/2 and this time dealer replaced batteries in both key fobs. Two days later the vehicle would not start in the am or any other repeated attempts throughout the day. Had it towed to another dealer for service and repair pending as of 5/9.
