2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2019

I previously reported that this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3. 6 pentastar engine) stalls without warning. The vehicle has stalled at least twice in August, numerous times in September, and already twice this month (October). What is more concerning is there is no check engine light the warns of the pending stall condition. Also, I have had the thermostat, lifters, tappets, rocker arms, cylinder head, spark plugs, and ignition coils replaced and problem seems to be getting worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons tysons corner). The dealer cannot read any active or stored codes for the stalling issue. Additionally, the shop foreman advised that it appeared to be the fuel pump. I ordered the $540. 00 fuel pump and had replaced on Monday October 7, 2019 for an additional $630. 00. Ironically enough, the vehicle stalled going home and the fuel pump repair did not fix the issue. The mechanic and service advisor now say that I should replace the pcm and then the tipum if all else fails. This is an additional $3,000. 00 in estimated service that they cannot guarantee that will fix the issue. The most concerning thing is that Chrysler will not be held accountable for this. I have also filed a complaint with fca, whom initially just closed the case. I then filed another one today and requested to speak with a case manager, which is pending (no faith at this point). It should also be noted that fca is aware of this issue as addressed in the recall: Chrysler is recalling 188,723 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee suvs in the u. S. Because of a defective fuel-pump relay inside the power module that can cause the vehicles to "stall without warning. ".

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

The fuel pump relay is defective. This has already been recalled but the patch "fix" Jeep does does not solve the problem completely and they know this. There is an issue with the computer which does not send correct signal to fuel pump. On start car will not start often because it is not receiving any fuel. I am afraid this cheap "fix" Jeep came up with will cause the fuel to go out while driving. The biggest defect with the car is the v-8 hemi cam shaft and lifters. Every mechanic I have taken my car too has said that Jeep knows it is a problem but will not fix. I was driving 70 mph when my Jeep lost power and the check engine light came on and started flashing which with the loss of power cause me to just about have a wreck on the highway. It was a very scary scenario. I took it to my trusted mechanic who foudn a cylinder 2 misfire & performed a tune up and he said I needed to report the problem to Jeep as they are known to have sever problems. The dealer charged me to "diganose" the problem and reported back that the lifters and cam shaft need to be replaced. This has been such a bad problem for Jeep the lifters have been on back order multiple times but they will not admit it is a problem. My car has less than 100,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained and now lookin g at rebuilding an engine and Jeep will only provide 2 year warranty or the work, which shows they have no trust in the fix and there is a fatal flaw with the v-8 hemi. Please force Jeep to honor their customers and correct the known mistakes with their engines.

11 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2012

On the weekend of 6/9/12, my vehicle began giving starting problems and shutting down while driving. The dealerships service department was closed so I had to wait until Monday 6/11/12. I made several attempts on that day to have the vehicle checked out but the service department kept giving me a run around. The vehicle spent the night at the dealership and was checked the following day. I received a call that my vehicle is ready and was informed that a flash was done and a new computer had to be ordered that's why the check engine light is on. Left the dealership and the vehicle shut off once again while driving and when I attempted to restart it was giving the hard start once again. On 6/16/12 the vehicle was fully un-operational and had to be towed to the dealership. It sat there until the part arrived and was installed. On 6/21/12 I picked it up once again it's suppose to be working great because the computer was replaced. Less than an hour later it did not want to start again. I carried it back down on 6/22/12 and on the way there the vehicle shut down. Later that day found out another part had to be ordered. 6/29/12 my vehicle was ready again and said to be working great and it was because the hard start problem was fixed but the shutting down was not fixed because it occurred once again on 7/1/13 and has been happening constantly for over a year.
