The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally stalled while at a complete stop. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after several attempts, approximately 15 minutes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be duplicated; however, the contact was informed that the vehicle could be experiencing a fuel pump relay failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,660.
Alternator caught fire.
There is a customer satisfaction report p01 for timing chain and timing chain guides for 2009-2012 vehicles equipped with the 5. 7l hemi. My vehicle is now undrivable because of this issue and caused piston and valve damage. Because of my VIN not being listed for this recall I am now facing a $9500 engine replacement due to this issue.
Since I bought it at the dealership the car hesitates to start, I took it several times and they couldn't find the fault, they said it could be a problem with the battery so I changed it and it kept doing the same thing. Thing, they told me what the tank was. Of gasoline I took it to a NHTSA office and they told me that they would change the part, over time I had the same problem again but now a year has passed and the car no longer starts, from the beginning they have not helped me solve the problem problem. Problem problem that comes from the factory.
Fuel cap recovery error light comes on and when taken to the dealership and diagnosed they replaced the fuel cap twice in 2 years. Still presenting the same problem. Engine rocker arm and camshaft failure on 3. 6l v6 pentastar engine. Stability control problem when driving on rough highway roads at highway speeds makes the vehicle over correct in a left or right direction out of lane almost causing accidents. New shocks & struts, and check of the stability control systems has not corrected the problem.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 126,000.
Foward collision warning light stays on no matter what. Vehicle turns off randomly at different times without warning. No power steering no power breaks nothing, vehicle just dies on the freeway, going through intersections.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalled while driving. While slowing down to make a turn, engine stalled out. Power steering and power brake disappeared. If someone was at the light while I was turning, they would have been hit. The first time (known) - was two days ago, with mileage approx 110,000. The second time was this morning, while at a stop. On checking online, this has been reported by other owners of the same make and model. This is a safety hazzard and should be a repairable manufacture recall. Fortunately it hasn't resulted in an accident - yet - with this vehicle.
Greetings, after 3 dealership attempts to correct the tipm - NHTSA 19v813000 recall, my Jeep still stalled 4 times at highway speeds. I narrowly averted being rearended several times. I am terrified to drive the vehicle! I have yet another dealership appointment Friday, January 12, 2024 to correct the issue. Previous visits could not reproduce the problem or show any code errors. There were no warnings at all during these malfunctions, only the loss of braking and power steering did I realize the vehicle had stalled. Are there any remedies afforded to me at this point from Chrysler? the vehicle has only 124,000 miles. I've been extremely lucky that I haven't crashed or injured another party to date, but I fear it could happen at any time since this is my only transportation to and from work.
My vehicle in the last 2 days has randomly shutoff completely while driving on the highway. I was able to place in neutral, then restart the vehicle thank goodness without being rear-ended or a collision. The vehicle has been repaired before (NHTSA campaign 19v813000) and (Chrysler's recall number v62). The vehicle at this point I fear is too dangerous to drive. I am going to have the car towed to the dealership in hopes of reinstalling the fuel pump relay hack. There are many of the same complaints online from other drivers with the same vehicle. Something else needs to be done about this soon before someone gets killed.
The vehicle randomly shuts off as I’m driving. It happened about a month ago on a very busy highway and then again today on a major street in my hometown. I’ve taken it to the shop twice and they cannot duplicate the issue or find a problem with it. I’m nervous it’s going to shut off at the wrong time and something bad happen. I don’t know what to do.
My vehicles totally integrated power module (tipm) was rewired at a dealership as part of a manufacturer recall. Ever since this has been "rewired" I have had problems with the car shutting off while driving, and as a result, a loss of power steering and power brakes. I notified the dealership, rentschler Chrysler of slatington, PA, and they state that everything looks ok with the wiring and that a new tipm was not part of the recall. This issue has been occurring with my Jeep (2011 Grand Cherokee laredo) since 2013, two years after I purchased the car brand new. I want to know why Chrysler was not ordered to replace the tipm with a new part? this has been happening to my car frequently and I have known other people with Jeep, ram, and durango problems with stalling while driving.
The engine oil filter housing cooler (part number 5184294ae) are made of dissimilar materials (plastic and aluminum) and with normal hot oil temperatures the materials expand and contract at different rates causing failure of the part and leaks. The leak causes loss of engine oil and engine coolant that can sudden engine damage while driving putting the driver and passengers at risk. This seems to affect not only this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle with a 3. 6 liter engine, but almost all 3. 6 liter engines in other Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and ram vehicles.
This vehicle stops while driving. It happens when it comes to a stop or slow down. Will turn off. In some instances I have lost my power brakes. This has been happening since November of 2022. The dealership has replaced the recall part, the fuel pump relay. Still happens. They thought it could be low transmission fuel. No, still happened. They have driven it over 100 miles and it wouldn’t replicate for them so they say they cannot fix it because there is no check engine light on. This is a safety hazard.
Check engine light flashing! engine misfire and valve grinding a groove in the cam shaft from cylinder #8. There is a service bulletin issued but no recall or warranty coverage for repair and replacement! they know that they have a problem but don’t want to pay for a recall to repair it! I still have all of the parts from the repair!.
Engine stalled at highway speed on a highway, safety of family and motorists endangered as vehicle coasted to side of highway, vehicle would not restart, check engine light on. Codes indicated camshaft sensor issue. Inspection revealed by technician that timing components came loose from engine block and interfered with timing chain which in turn snapped causing catastrophic valve train component damage. Engine determined to needing replacement because of irreplaceable camshaft bearings in engine block. All failed components are retained for further inspection. Estimated repair is $5-7k. Warranty expired as mileage is 170000.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the blower fan had become defective; as a result, her defroster had failed operate as needed. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who could not diagnose the failure. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where she was informed that the relay had burned out which also caused the tipm(totally integrated power module) to fail. The contact was then given an estimate for the repair of the fan, the relay, and the tipm. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Driving for 2 mins . Came up on a red light stopped after turning green my Jeep stalled.
Carbon like smell entering cabin, engine stalling, and check engine light on. Ginn Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram in covington georgia stated they performed the recall repairs for the fuel relay wiring harness in June 2022 and the brake booster recall fix last week. The break booster recall is still showing unrepaired, and the stalling, fumes entering the inside of the Jeep is worse. The Jeep did not have a check engine light show up until after it left the cdjr service center. Due to dispute with the dealership that sold the vehicle putting an extended warranty in the paperwork, that I was not provided in writing yet its cost was added to the Jeep, the cdjr service center claimed the Jeep required $5700 worth of work to its hemi v8 5. 7l engine but they could not begin the work until I consented to the warranty providers $450. 00 fee to teardown the engine for further diagnostics. I could not consent to something I was not provided it writing, so the ginn cdjr refused to move forward and claimed they performed the last recall repair. They have refused to provide repair records and invoices. They also stated the Jeep is "driveable" when notifying me they would not fix it. Three weeks prior, as it was in their service center for three weeks, the service center instructed me not to drive it.
Malfunction of the engine rpm governor, adaptive cruise control, or electronic throttle control (etc), or some combination of all of the above. On June 7-9, 2022, spontaneous high engine rpm occurred, which resulted in vehicle speeds that were above urban speed limits unless heavy braking pressure was applied. Additionally, on rural highways, the speed setting for the adaptive cruise control was exceeded without driver input. This also required manual breaking in order to control speed. During this situation, the “driver override “ message would appear although no accelerator pedal pressure was being applied. Additionally, the etc warning light would randomly light up and then clear. When the vehicle was stopped and placed in park, the engine would rev to approximately 4000-5000 rpm. Especially in congested traffic conditions, this runaway engine rpm condition is a terrifying situation. This malfunction has occurred on this vehicle before, and to a similar extent. However, the Jeep dealer could find no underlying cause. The vehicle will also occasionally operate at a higher than normal rpm, but not to the extent described here. I do have an appointment with my local Jeep dealer for June 21. I will describe the issue with them in detail. My purpose for entering this report is to add my issue to any potential list of other Jeep owners who may have reported a similar issue.
Problem with the pcm. No warning if goes out. Car will die and not start back up. Will not keep a charge. Windshield wipers will go on without doing anything. Can't put windows up or down. All lights on bash will light up. Lights inside and headlights will go very dim. Not safe.
The contact's fiancé owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while her fiancé was driving 20 mph and making a turn, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact's fiancé veered to the side of the road. The contact's fiancé was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer several times but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 118,883.
When you turn a corner the engine shuts off. All the electronics still work (like radio, and lights) but you have no power stearing it is manual. You have to coast to the side of the road and put the truck in park and restart it. This has been recalled and fixed a few times and it is still happening and Jeep will not do anything to fix the problem. They want to duplicate the issue but you can not. This happens whenever it wants to - there is no rhyme or reason why it happens and you cannot duplicate it. I've taken notes every time it happens, (gas gage at where, weather, time of day, where I was going, how long I drove the truck) nothing matters, it just happens when it happens. So far now it is happening at least 1 time a month since December 2021. And I have called Jeep every time and reported the incident. I have a case number but they will not fix it or send out a new recall.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Engine replaced in oct/Nov 2017 with new engine at approved dealership. Engine failed in Feb 2022. For 3-5 weeks, car would turn off when I was a stop light and I would I have to turn restart the car to drive. One day the engine died while driving at regular speed (e. G. ~30 mph). The car stopped in the middle of road, power was lost, and it never restarted again. I towed the car to the dealership. No cause of failure was provided. After checking the engine, they were unable to get it working and recommended a full replacement at an estimated cost of $14k. I had no warranty on the car and unable to afford to replacement. No trade-in value was offered.
Tipm is malfunctioning constantly draining my battery, headlight flickers random check engine codes sporadically… just has been a complete nightmare trying to diagnose.
The problem first occurred with check engine light coming on early November 2021 and 59,000 miles approximate. It was a code indicating misfire of cylinder #2. The gasket, fuse and coil were replaced on that cylinder on November 13th 2021. The misfire code reoccurred after replacement of all pieces named above. I am now in the position of finding out that my car engine (pentastar 3. 6l v6) was one that have been identified of such failure resulting in engine needing replacement. I have just gone over 70,000 miles and and now being told that I need an engine replacement. I believe that Jeep should be responsible to repair this issue or replace my engine as I was never informed that this problem existed until my engine has started to fail.
My vehicle keeps shutting off when I make a turn - I lose all power - I have no warning at all that this is about to happen - the radio and headlights stay on (no steering at all so I have to struggle to turn the wheel since I am in a turn when this happens) and I have to coast over to the shoulder to put the vehicle in park and start it up again. This truck has been recalled for this problem several times already and repaired several times already and it just keeps happening. I am going to get in a car accident one of these times. It is the pump relay that is not working.
I contacted keffer Jeep Chrysler in charlotte, nc when I received the recall notice. This dealer ship has a poor service department and they almost never answer calls but use the voice recorder for messages. I left two messages regarding the recall but never received a return call. Today I tried again and got the voice mail again, so called through the manager's line and finally spoke to someone in service. At first they were very helpful, but when I mentioned the recall it changed and I was informed that it would be more than two months before they could arrange to make the recall repairs (the end of November). I have encountered this before where dealers do not feel that they are properly compensated for recall work and thus try to shift off to another dealer through delays. I am now going to find another dealer, but felt that the impact of the ntsb recall safety measures is being impaired by the conduct of keffer. The recall is very clear that this defect is dangerous and thus I have not used my Jeep cherokee pending getting the recall addressed. Thank you for your help in curing this problem for the public at large.
As I am about to turn right my vehicle completely shuts off and I lose power steering, etc. Brakes work enough to stop thankfully, but vehicle is completely off almost causing a crash. I am able to start my 2011 Jeep gc right back up and go on with the engine light on. The light then shut off as I am driving. After reading multiple cases of this same issue it is apparent something needs done and a resolution needs issued. This is an extreme safety issue and needs addressed now before injury or death occurs. I love Jeep but I do not think I will be able to get another (after having 3+) if this does not get addressed. Get this fixed and addressed now.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that on multiple occasions the vehicle would not start while pressing the start/stop button. The contact indicated that the failure was corrected while tapping the tipm and then pressing the start button. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no issues were found. The contact indicated that on several occasions the vehicle stalled without warning. On one occasion the vehicle lost motive power while entering an intersection. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,941.
While driving the vehicle it will with no indication shut off and stop running. Its very scary and dangerous. I have taken it to the dealership and they told me the car is just old and have pressured me to buy a new car.
Jeep has a huge stalling issue while driving down the road… stalled on me over 7 times while owning it in the last 4 months and a I handful of near misses since I lose all my steering and brakes when it stalls. . Huge huge issue that needs to be fixed immediately.
My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a stalling problem when I am driving down the road and it locks up my steering and brakes and is very dangerous and I can not find the fix and it already has the external fuel pump relay recall and it still dies and my dealership in town doesn’t know what to do either and I’m still on the hook 9k for the Jeep.
In March 2021 my wife’s 2011jeep Grand Cherokee was at naples Chrysler-Jeep for a stalling problem where while driving, the car’s engine would stop while moving in traffic. Power steering and brakes lost power thereby making it nearly impossible to steer or stop without coasting to the side of the road. There was no warning from the vehicle that there was a problem. Once the car coasted to a stop, my wife was able to put the car in park and restart the car. This happened 4 or 5 times before taking it in for maintenance. After 2 weeks looking for a problem, they replaced a fuel pump relay in the tipm. Again, in late July the car repeated the stall while driving 2 times. The car is currently at naples Chrysler Jeep where techs are trying to duplicate the problem with no success. No codes came up during computer testing. We are reluctant to drive the vehicle if the technicians can’t locate and fix the problem before returning the car to us. Because of the sudden nature of the stall, we fear we could crash causing serious injury or death.
We had the latest recall repair completed for stalling while driving, it was a fuel pump relay I believe. I think we had it repaired in February/March. However this morning while driving to work our Jeep stalled while slowing down to turn, the battery stayed on but the engine completely stalled & the power steering went out almost causing us to drive off the road. Luckily the brakes still worked but we had a semi behind us that nearly missed us as it also turned onto the same road.
