The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stopped, turn the vehicle off, and then opened the door to reset the system. The contact restarted the vehicle and started to drive under 50 mph to prevent the failure from reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer seven times and diagnosed with a failed thermostat. The contact stated that the thermostat had been replaced seven times. The manufactured was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I had repeated engine stalling issues, usually when accelerating, but other times just randomly. The problem is usually momentary, the engine starts running again in seconds. It is also infrequent, only once or twice a month for a vehicle being driven daily. This has caused some very near misses when the vehicle behind me doesn't notice my sudden deceleration (there are no brake lights) and almost rear ends me. Fortunately I have not had any accidents. This was a problem on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee VIN 1j8hr58t99c520366. A bad crankshaft position sensor wire in the harness was finally found and replaced which fixed the problem. The problem is very hard for the repair shop to verify, they won't take the vehicle out on the road and drive it long enough so it is hard to even convince them it is a real problem. The shops often attribute it to a bad fuel pump relay, a well known problem with recalls. The replacement relays have very limited availability. I have had to drive on a suspected bad relay for months before recall parts are available. I don't think the relay is the only defect which causes the problem. About 6 weeks ago my 2011 started exhibiting the problem again, but this time with more frequency and more dramatic engine out episodes. The dealer attributed it to the fuel pump relay, which they didn't have, then to a timing sensor (crankshaft I think) then to various other problems including corroded ecm connector pins which were replaced but didn't fix the problem. After 4 weeks in the shop they finally found a bad wire (which connects the suspect timing sensor) inside a wiring harness. The wire was replaced and the problem went away. That is one of the problems that was discovered on my 2009 model! that coincidence can't be explained as a random failures, there has to be a wiring harness issue.
I was driving on the freeway at 50 mph with my family in the vehicle when I pressed the break pedal I realized my brakes didn't worked the pedal went all the way down to the floor with no stop at all when I pull over to the side with emergency brakes my truck started smoking from front of engine I opened the hood and it exploded in my face almost burn inside this vehicle thank god we made it out alive from the Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo.
Cold started the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, was in park and all the dash lights came on. It appears to be another #3 misfire, all dash lights came on, & had loss of power. Engine light blinking, check oil, low battery light, service the 4x4, and wipers all came on at once, remained on. I had the same issue in summer of 2019, then it was a #3 misfire. This time, again, the code was a #3 misfire! the summer of 2019 I had the garage replace the faulty 3 coil packs along with a new alternator which was damaged because of the bad coil packs, which fixed the issue for approximately 1 and 1/2 years. Then the issue resurfaced on christmas 2020, same problem.
A few things, one being how my jgc abruptly shuts off while in motion(luckily I was exiting the express way (both) times) yeah, happened more than once, to the suspension no longer functioning, all the way to it deciding not to start up.
My ignition coils and spark plugs keep misfiring. More then normal. Ever since the recall where the replaced half of my engine I can't seem to keep them for long and it's getting costly.
Only 79,000 miles and dealership states I need to replace camshaft and lifters. Repair costs more than vehicle is worth. All maintenance and oil changes were done. Searching online reveals how common this problem, the manufacturers defects and the fact that fca will not admit or assist owners. No properly maintained engine should fail at 79,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle in his driveway from a short distance, there was a electrical burning odor coming from the vehicle along with smoke. The contact then discovered that the coolant overflowed to the alternator without warning. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (vision automotive group located at 920 panorama trail s , rochester, NY 14625) where it was diagnosed that the pcm failed causing the coolant to overheat and replaced the alternator, the drain tube and the battery. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was explained that the engineering of the drain tube for the coolant overflow tank was designed to be directly above the alternator and if the coolant overflows it would come in contact with the electric alternator causing a possible fire. The contact was concerned that if he would have drove a long distance his vehicle would have engulfed in flames. The manufacturer had been informed of failure and suggested the contact call NHTSA and get a service manual. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 197,000.
Our 2011 Jeep grand has un-expectedly shut down while at highway speeds @70mph all brake and steering functions failed to power and we flipped and crashed, this irresponsible decision on lack of recall caused death in my family, I hope Jeep takes responsibilities as we are at great loss.
Twice in the last two months, my vehicle experienced an un-commanded engine shut. Both times my vehicle was traveling at or about 50 mph decelerating to an approaching red light. I would receive a (fcw light indication and audible warning, rpm would read zero, no power steering, and no power assisted brakes). I would put my car in park once I came to a complete stop then restart my vehicle and all systems would read normal.
I've been having numerous possible safety issues with this vehicle, for example : intermittent starting, lost of power @ highway speed, proximity sensor giving warning while driving with no obstruction in path, air ride system adjust at random even while parked ect.
My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a defect on cylinder# 2 apparently there was no recall even though it is a defect. My lights would flicker in drive sitting at a red light, still does, and now the engine is starting to run rough, after more and more research come to find out this is an issue with these Jeeps never a recall but there was an extended warranty that was put out by Chrysler 10 yrs or 150,000 miles. Just found this out a couple of days ago, I have 152,000, so they would not honor their warranty. I have documentation that cylinder 2 was an issue in 2017 I have documentation where my car was diagnosed when it had 95,000 miles at the time it was wasn't a dealership so they wouldn't accept it. Its going to cost me around $4,000-$6,000 to get it fixed, not sure why it has to be dealership documentation , I feel that Chrysler has been hiding this from consumers to save money and let the consumer take the fall for a defect that they were aware of. Why cant this be recalled? regardless of miles, very disgruntled with Chrysler for putting out products that have issues, I have taken my Jeep to every recall it has had and its been about 5 of them. I love the Jeep but the mechanical and electrical of Jeep has many issues would not recommend to anyone. How many people have to have these issues in order for it to be recalled?.
While driving and coming to to a stop the engine suddenly turns off then must be put into park to restart. I have only owned the car about a month and it has happened twice.
There is a crack in the housing which is a big recall problem in Jeeps. But not the 2011. Obviously it is a problem with the 2011. It will cost us alot of money to get it fixed when I am positive that it should be covered like the other yrs. A Jeep is a Jeep. There was no accident. We are not young people that don't take care of their cars. We are elderly and drive responsibly. Oil just blows out of the crack when you start the engine.
My vehicle has randomly turned off on me twice during moderate to heavy braking. The first time was on 8/20/2019 and the second time was on 12/3/2019. I believe my issue is related to recall v62 and I am voicing my displeasure in the amount of time it is taking fiat Chrysler to design a remedy. This recall is actually recalling a prior recall, so I would scrutinize the engineering team that they can actually come up with a sufficient remedy, but I suppose that's not my point. My point is my vehicle and over 500,000 additional vehicles are on the road with a problem that is extremely hazardous with no eta in sight.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 55 mph in the far left lane, the vehicle began to shake violently while everything in the vehicle malfunctioned and stopped working. The contact had to coast the vehicle over to the shoulder where it crashed into a ditch. The contact was not distracted. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained no injuries. Their was no one else involved in the crash so their was no need for medical attention. No police report was filed. The contact called tempe Chrysler Jeep 7975 s autoplex loop, tempe, az 85284 (480) 496-4000 where the contact was denied diagnoses and repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,100. Jw ## VIN passed ## 2011 Jeep grand cherrokee ##.
Cadillac converter.
Exiting highway. One incident merging right off ramp. Other incident, slowing to cross oncoming traffic onto a road. Engine suddenly shuts down. Fcw light comes on. Sensor on front is kept very clean! vehicle will restart but this is very dangerous as I was almost hit by oncoming traffic in the none incident. I read that this is common with these vehicles. Shame on you! never have another one.
Left head bad, cylinder #2 misfire with pentastar engine. You have had multiple reports of this problem in which Chrysler extended warranty plans to cover this faulty engine. My Jeep was purchase with a salvage title related to body work(engine was not involved) with 43, 565 miles. My mileage at time of left head default 56, 567 miles. I am outraged!! my family has been true advocates for the Jeep product for 20 years, purchasing nine Jeeps. I truly understand that the warranty falls off with a salvage title, I am pleading for some reimbursement from Chrysler knowing that the pentastar engine is faulty with left head. I had to rent a car for 10 days in order for bluewater Chrysler to get the left head in and do the job. Parts/installation $1,893. 05 with car rental from enterprise $497. 67 with a total of $2,390. 72. I have records from the internet of the pentastar engine(faulty), records from bluewater Chrysler. I will mail at your request. Please be advised, I will take this to court. I would appreciate some form of reimbursement. Thank you, mrs. Brenda debell 810-357-6470.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee shuts off while driving. Power steering, engine control and braking all become difficult to use. Happening while turning causes the vehicle to veer into the guard rails, if they are present, or oncoming traffic, if turning away from traffic is too difficult. Luckily, in the multiple times this happened, I was turning right, either onto the highway onramp or into a gas station. The times into the gas station, sent me over the curb and grass, barely missing the pumps. The vehicle shows no signs of an error on the dash. All radio, lights and gauges work fine. Once you are able to stop the vehicle, it must be put into park and the push button start re-ignited. It terrified my family.
During the cold months while driving, I noticed more heat than what should be normal on my feet/legs, coming from the engine compartment. 4/1/19 it was a warm day, so the extreme heat, while I then noticed the a/c was not working, prompted me to call Jeep dealership to make an appointment. They took a look at it, and scheduled repair for 5/7/19. They replaced the heater core and it's housing--(along with blend doors and actuators for the 3rd time). They said the housing had actually melted from extreme heat. There is no way this under dashboard heat should be this extreme, the result of the heater core. $2,200 to replace. Should be a recall item.
It has now happened several times in which I'm driving and the Jeep suddenly loses all engine power, braking and power steering. This happens on the highway. There are never any warning lights or sounds to signal this is about to take place. This last time it almost made me cause an accident.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving over 70 mph, the vehicle hesitated and lost power. The check engine indicator was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle misfired and the cylinder needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 58148205. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact was passing another vehicle at 70 mph, the vehicle began to tremble and the engine lost power. On another occasion, the vehicle decelerated and accelerated on its own in traffic. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a new multi-displacement system, lifters, and cylinders were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and a case was filed; however, a parts specialist was not available to respond. The failure mileage was 100,005.
The vehicle was cruising on the highway the engine suddenly stops. ,vehicle coasts to a stop. After a 15 minute wait, the engine starts again.
The fuel pump recall of the recall is absolutely ridiculous. I have already filed one complaint about this issue and went on deaf ears. I have been complaining about this problem to Jeep and dealer for years and they just tell me that they will not issue recall for a car that is ten years old. The first recall was a joke and the cheapest fix I have ever seen and of course it did not work and here we are again. The real problem with the Jeep is the tipm module and this whole part needs to be recalled. Too many lives are at risk for Jeep to try another patch job this time around. Jeep could re-engineer the tipm and fix all these cars very easily but no one will force them to do it. Please help! I am tired of risking my familys life over not holding Jeep responsible for the safety of their vehicles. I have been sent a recall notice (2nd attempt at recall) but they say they have no fix for the problem yet, or in other words they have not come up with one cheap enough to suit their needs. It is time to make Jeep recall the tipm module and fix this issue once and for all and it would not even put a dent in any Jeep profits but yet we have to risk our lives since the NHTSA will not do anything to Jeep. Starting to become a boeing like problem with car manufactures. I have been on hold with Jeep for 2 hours and they safety recall website does not work half the time which is really concerning. Please help!.
Vehicle had a misfire in cylinder #3. Took to Jeep dealership to diagnose and they found a rounded camshaft and bad lifters. Vehicle has 104,000 on it and I inquired as to options. #1 - $4,600 repair (min if they do not find anything else) and they were having issues getting lifters due to back order #2 - replace engine, quoted $8,600 and once again was unsure the timing as no long or short blocks were available. Inquired as to what could have caused this and was told that there is nothing, as the owner, I could've done. That sometimes this just happens and if it was closer in years to the end of warranty they would cover, however since it is 7 years old there is nothing they can do. Find it surprising and unacceptable that with a little research you can find that the 5. 7 hemi has numerous complaints about rounded camshafts due to bad lifters. Further acknowledged by the dealership when they were commenting on how hard it was to obtain the necessary parts to repair.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and decelerated to 40 mph. The contact had to continually pump the brakes to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was taken to courtesy Dodge Jeep ram (1890 dogwood dr se, conyers, GA 30013, 678-210-2489) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 171,000.
Lifter seized in #3 cylinder causing cam failure while driving.
While decelerating in a right turn the engine quit. It started right up afterwards.
Engine turned off while exiting freeway decelerating and making a slight right turn. The only way to restart is to press on brake return shifter to park and restart engine by pushing start button. Scary and dangerous situation. Also affected steering and brakes.
June 16,2018 I'd stop at a gas station to fill up I was inside the station for about 20 minutes playing lottery for the next morning, I only explaining for time line. Came out to pump gas and noticed my engine was smoking and I haven't been driving long, I just left a water front park which is about 5 minutes away. Well the smoke smells like burning wires but no fire just heavy smoke so I let it cool down. And the truck was dead nothing no power when the tow truck finally showed up some 10 hours later, and tried to jump start the truck it was draining the jump box. So I end up taking my Jeep to a after market repair shop and his diagnosis was that my alternator had burned up. So once I'd replaced the alternator the truck still wouldn't take a charge. After doing further research come to find out there was a recall on my alternator issue but for some reason my vehicle vett my vehicle was not on the list my VIN number is not part of the recall list mind you I bought my vehicle use I'm the second owner is a canadian vehicle but I brought it in the in michigan from a auto broker. I'm currently dealing with northland Chrysler Jeep dealership in oak park michigan and at their contacting fiat Chrysler recall team and trying to figure out if I'm having the same issues as the alternator recall I believe it's t36 why my vehicle couldn't be added to the list for my reimbursement I had call the number that I have on a Jeep app that's on my smartphone there was a recall number and it stated that 2011 chargers challengers durangos Jeep Grand Cherokee and a couple other vehicles if I'm not mistaken has the alternator failure recall it also states that you will smell heavy you will see heavy smoke, my name is michael ward my number is 248 953 4337 wardski28@gmail. Com is my email. Please feel free to contact me at any time after reading this message. Thank you michael a ward.
Every 3 months apart or so my vehicle has lost power on the engine causing it to shut down on me when I make a hard left turn while applying my brakes. The first time that it happened it was on the freeway on my way to work out of nowhere my wheel hot hard and when I was pressing my accelerator it was not working. , the second time it happened when I was making a left turn and the same thing happened to me I had to get on top of the side walk because I couldn't steer it enough to make my turn. And my third time happened this morning while I was going under the bridge luckily for me no one was behind me but this problem is a situation ready to go wrong. Out of all these times I have been alone in the vehicle going on my way to work in the morning. Its always a scary experience for me. I do not feel safe driving the car. No codes no nothing. The steering wheel gets all hard that I can barely turn it to get on my right lane so I can put my car in park and restart it , from there it starts working fine like if nothing happened.
My car does not start at least 10 times a week, I believe its due to a faulty fuel pump relay and my VIN isnt part of the recall for this and it should be. Ive read many other people complaining of the same exact issue and I took it to fairfield Jeep where they told me one thing over the phone and then upon arrival it was something different and then the papers stated something else different!.
