Incident: frontal collision with a boulder at 30 mph. 1. Component/system failure & inspection availability the primary failure was the supplemental restraint system (srs); the driver’s frontal airbag failed to deploy during a high-energy frontal impact. Additionally, advanced driver assistance systems (adas)—specifically forward collision warning (fcw) and lane departure warning (ldw)—failed to provide alerts or initiate emergency braking prior to impact. 2. Safety risk the failure created a life-threatening risk. Striking a boulder at 30 mph caused substantial structural damage, requiring total replacement of the front-right and rear-right suspension assemblies. Despite the severity of the impact, the airbag remained dormant. The lack of fcw/ldw intervention meant zero mitigation was provided to prevent the roadway departure or collision, rendering primary safety features non-functional. 3. Confirmation of problem the fact that the airbags did not deploy was confirmed by independent inspection following the collision. Assessment of the vehicle damage shows that impact forces were clearly sufficient to trigger the srs, yet the system failed to activate. While adas failure is a dynamic event, the total absence of system logs or alerts during the crash sequence confirms the electronic malfunction. 4. Inspections performed the vehicle was inspected by an insurance adjuster and collision repair professionals. These inspections documented that the impact was severe enough to cause significant mechanical failure, yet no airbag deployment occurred. It was a clear day as I arrived at work. While pulling into a parking spot, the Jeep suddenly accelerated over a curb and into a tree. I was able to turn the wheel upon seeing the tree, which helped me avoid hitting other vehicles on the opposite side of the island. I had to depress the brakes multiple times before the vehicle finally stopped just short of another tree. During the incident, I was on a conference call. The attendees confirmed that there were no warning sounds from the vehicle—only the sound of the impact. Notably, the airbags did not deploy. The front driver-side area sustained extensive damage, causing the driver’s door to jam. Fortunately, I did not suffer any physical injuries. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair shop. When connected to a scanner, no error codes were detected. Repairs took nearly five weeks. Although the front sensors were replaced, they still did not function properly. The shop consulted a technician who remoted in and advised them to replace all the sensors again and inspect the wiring. Although the vehicle has been repaired, I remain fearful of driving it. I’ve read similar reports on this board suggesting these issues may be related to the electrical system. I plan to contact the dealership to ask whether they have experience with such cases and if they can inspect the systems.

The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and they informed him that a case manager will contact him. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Sometime after performing the b9a recall (NHTSA 23v-787) repair (my vehicle passed), my check engine light came on. Dealer felt there was faulty airbag orc sensor and this was replaced. Despite replacement the vehicle continues to throw check engine list with error dtc b273c. We opened a star case 6/16/25 and my local dealership kept the Jeep for a week. They stated stellantis said there was no fix available. Still showing check engine light with b273c error despite replacing sensor.

The leather of the dash that covers the airbag area has become unglued completely and is wrinkled all across the dash, and I am concerned the safety crash features will not work correctly now with premature failure of the adhesives that hold such a large area on the dash.

Was pulling into a parking spot on the 2nd level of parking garage and the Jeep accelerated and hit the cement wall at front of garage space. It accelerated on its own. The front of the Jeep was crushed, and I ended up with a fractured sternum and a seat belt hernia which I will have surgery in the next couple of weeks. The airbags did not deploy. And I did not press on the gas pulling into the parking spot --- it just accelerated on its own. When I first got in the car the system showed that systems disabled, but the then the message went away. When I pressed seat one, it did not go in place and I had to adjust it on my own. I continued on to my dermitologist appointment , pulled into the the parking space and the instant brake when too close did not break and the air bags did not deploy. Thru me into the cement wall, and the whole front of the car was demolished, not epairable.

While driving downtown atlanta, GA I heard a loud noise and then a hit in the back of my head. I was startled at first not knowing what had happened. I first thought maybe I way hit by another vehicle, or someone may have thrown something from the overpass. I got off the interstate and found the head rest had blown open. I have since learned that possibly the car maker is aware of the problem, I don't know if the car maker is fixing the problem. I see where this could have negative results to owners that already have neck and back problems, another big concern is having an accident. The dealer escalated the failure and contacted the engineering departing at the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
When the airbag light comes on and is visible on the dashboard, this action shorts out the ac, heat, as well as the defroster. This airbag light is a constantly lit up and will not go out. I have been told that there is a problem with the clock spring on this vehicle. This has been an on going problem for several years now. The front passenger seat lumbar/massage system malfunctioned and inflated without user input to maximum capacity. The lumbar air bladder became over-pressurized and created a large, hard, immovable bulge in the center of the seatback. The system will not properly deflate and remains in this condition. The failed component appears to be the lumbar/massage module and valve system, which is electronically controlled. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a rigid protrusion directly behind the occupant’s spine. In the event of a crash, this would alter occupant positioning, concentrate force on the spine, and interfere with proper restraint function and airbag performance. This will increase the risk of injury to the occupant. The problem has been confirmed by lander’s Jeep dealership in little rock, ar, which acknowledged the issue but advised that diagnosis and repair would be costly and would not be covered under my warranty or extended service contract provided by mopar. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the failure. The issue occurred suddenly during normal use. Online research shows countless similar failures in 2022+ Jeep grand wagoneer vehicles, with consistent reports of lumbar/massage module or valve failures causing uncontrolled inflation. Some owners report repeat failures and electrical issues related to the seat module. Given the repeated nature of this failure across multiple vehicles and the potential safety implications, this issue should be investigated as a possible safety defect affecting occupant protection systems. I have multiple more examples of this from facebook wagoneer and grand wagoneer owner groups, however I am limited to just 10 uploads.
The srs airbag light keeps coming up and does not show up as an error when a diagnostic is run on the car and they need to pull tge system apart to figire iut what the issue is. Secondly the capless gas tank nozzle keeps falling off.
I lease a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has developed serious and unresolved safety issues. While driving at highway speeds, typically between 70 and 75 mph, the vehicle has repeatedly lost power and begun to decelerate on its own without driver input. When this occurs, I am unable to maintain speed with traffic, creating a dangerous condition and placing myself, my passengers, and other motorists at risk. In addition to the loss of power, the vehicle regularly displays warnings related to critical systems, including electric mode being unavailable, fuel and oil refresh in progress, emergency/sos system unavailable, hybrid power loss, and an airbag system warning. These warnings are documented and have appeared across multiple service visits. The vehicle has been taken to two different authorized Jeep dealerships and has spent nearly a month in service between them. Despite extended diagnostic efforts, neither dealership has been able to identify or repair the underlying issue. The problem remains unresolved. In addition, two active recalls continue to show as incomplete in the system and have not been successfully addressed. As of now, the vehicle is still at the dealership and is not available for use. Given the unresolved loss of power at highway speeds and the incomplete recalls, I do not consider the vehicle safe to operate. I have contacted both Jeep/stellantis and Chrysler capital in writing to request assistance and resolution. Despite providing documentation and allowing ample time for review, I have not received a response or acknowledgment. All repair attempts, warnings, recall status, and communications have been documented. I am seeking resolution because the vehicle remains unsafe, unreliable, and unavailable for normal use despite multiple repair opportunities and extensive time in service.

The contact's daughter crashed in to the railroad poles. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. The vehicle is displaying "service hybrid system" when driving at highway speeds. We have been told by the service center that this is just a code b273c-00, an error with the airbag system, and we should not worry about this since it is a computer glitch. I have confirmed with the service advisor that it is now impossible to distinguish a real hybrid system malfunction from a "fake" airbag system warning. I am told that the vehicle is safe to drive and nothing requires repair, however, Jeep star publication case s2408000063 states there is a fix, but it is only to be used to "mitigate buyback. " that is unacceptable and needs to be remedied as soon as possible.
Airbags failed to deploy in a front crash. Passenger side curtain air bags deployed, but none of the others deployed. The lane departure or lane keeping assistance did not work. The vehicle slowly swerved off of the highway with no safety features kicking in to help keep it on the road. No automatic emergency braking started. The vehicle was still going with the cruise control on following the collision. As of 3/20/2025 the vehicle is still available for inspection. This is the first report of this malfunction. The local sheriff was contacted following the accident. I do not have knowledge of who all has inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings or messages that the safety systems were not working. Yes, our safety was at risk. As the driver of the vehicle, I have broken my c2 vertebrae in my neck.

Air bag sensor went off, took it to the dealer and they said it could be a loose wire. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle since there has been a recall for prior models due to a faulty sensor which could cause the airbags to malfunction in case of an accident. Also having problems with the screen delaminating.
My vehicle started flashing my seatbelt light when I was driving and I was buckled and then my airbag light came on and my automatic start and stop light came on and have stayed on. I took it into Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram and they charged me $203 to tell me that I don’t have any shorts in the seatbelt wire harness and they found a o. L (over limit) indicating that I have a internal open within the seat, buckle itself,causing the codes and the lights on the dash and that it’ll cost $541. 26 to fix and it is not covered under any warranty, even though I just purchased the vehicle eight months ago and I’m under the 100,000 miles and just approaching the first 5 years. I should be covered. Now my airbags will not work and neither will my auto on and off features. This is a safety concern that should have a recall on it or be covered by mopar.

On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The abs brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a er visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a lifetime max care warranty through mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.

These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.
The panel that holds in the knee airbags under the steering wheel came open for no reason and exposed the air bag. The vehicle was not involved in a crash and appears to be a manufacture workmanship issue.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the front seat headrest popped out while I was driving at 35 miles per hour. My daughter was sitting there, and fortunately, no injuries occurred. This happened on the passenger side, but six months ago, it happened on the driver’s side as well, which I replaced with a used part for $200. This is definitely a dangerous defect and needs to be added to the recall list.
Passenger headrest exploded suddenly while driving on highway at highway speeds. Loud bang which made me swerve. No accident or incident preceded, it just exploded. If someone like my wife with neck problems was in the seat she could have been injured. I was told that Jeep has extended the warranty on this item and it appears this happens often. Had this happened to the drivers one I may have had an accident. I suggest they replace drivers headrests to stop an accident in the future.
