The front passenger seat active head restraint activated while driving on a smooth, rural road, with no traffic, and no impact with anything. My wife was in the passenger seat and was forcefully hit when the headrest deployed. There were no warning lights and no issues which would have warned us of this deployment. The vehicle has been maintained by the dealership since new. I have an appointment with the dealership for the warranty repair. On June 12 2025.

Jeep constantly leaks oil and overheats even after replacing the water pump, radiator and thermostat. The airbag light comes on randomly and also navigation system no longer works.

Was pulling into a parking spot on the 2nd level of parking garage and the Jeep accelerated and hit the cement wall at front of garage space. It accelerated on its own. The front of the Jeep was crushed, and I ended up with a fractured sternum and a seat belt hernia which I will have surgery in the next couple of weeks. The airbags did not deploy. And I did not press on the gas pulling into the parking spot --- it just accelerated on its own. When I first got in the car the system showed that systems disabled, but the then the message went away. When I pressed seat one, it did not go in place and I had to adjust it on my own. I continued on to my dermitologist appointment , pulled into the the parking space and the instant brake when too close did not break and the air bags did not deploy. Thru me into the cement wall, and the whole front of the car was demolished, not epairable.

I was stopped in traffic at approximately 16:00 on Tuesday 5/27/2025. All of the sudden the drivers side headrest deployed with force, hitting me in the back of my head and pushing my head and neck forward. Since the incident I am experiencing pain in my neck.

While driving downtown atlanta, GA I heard a loud noise and then a hit in the back of my head. I was startled at first not knowing what had happened. I first thought maybe I way hit by another vehicle, or someone may have thrown something from the overpass. I got off the interstate and found the head rest had blown open. I have since learned that possibly the car maker is aware of the problem, I don't know if the car maker is fixing the problem. I see where this could have negative results to owners that already have neck and back problems, another big concern is having an accident. The contact waited for a while and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that an air bag sensor might have caused the failure. An unknown part was replaced. The contact stated that the message "service hybrid electric system" was continuously displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer escalated the failure and contacted the engineering departing at the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

When the airbag light comes on and is visible on the dashboard, this action shorts out the ac, heat, as well as the defroster. This airbag light is a constantly lit up and will not go out. I have been told that there is a problem with the clock spring on this vehicle. This has been an on going problem for several years now. The front passenger seat lumbar/massage system malfunctioned and inflated without user input to maximum capacity. The lumbar air bladder became over-pressurized and created a large, hard, immovable bulge in the center of the seatback. The system will not properly deflate and remains in this condition. The failed component appears to be the lumbar/massage module and valve system, which is electronically controlled. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a rigid protrusion directly behind the occupant’s spine. In the event of a crash, this would alter occupant positioning, concentrate force on the spine, and interfere with proper restraint function and airbag performance. This will increase the risk of injury to the occupant. The problem has been confirmed by lander’s Jeep dealership in little rock, ar, which acknowledged the issue but advised that diagnosis and repair would be costly and would not be covered under my warranty or extended service contract provided by mopar. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the failure. The issue occurred suddenly during normal use. Online research shows countless similar failures in 2022+ Jeep grand wagoneer vehicles, with consistent reports of lumbar/massage module or valve failures causing uncontrolled inflation. Some owners report repeat failures and electrical issues related to the seat module. Given the repeated nature of this failure across multiple vehicles and the potential safety implications, this issue should be investigated as a possible safety defect affecting occupant protection systems. I have multiple more examples of this from facebook wagoneer and grand wagoneer owner groups, however I am limited to just 10 uploads.

The srs airbag light keeps coming up and does not show up as an error when a diagnostic is run on the car and they need to pull tge system apart to figire iut what the issue is. Secondly the capless gas tank nozzle keeps falling off.

I lease a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has developed serious and unresolved safety issues. While driving at highway speeds, typically between 70 and 75 mph, the vehicle has repeatedly lost power and begun to decelerate on its own without driver input. When this occurs, I am unable to maintain speed with traffic, creating a dangerous condition and placing myself, my passengers, and other motorists at risk. In addition to the loss of power, the vehicle regularly displays warnings related to critical systems, including electric mode being unavailable, fuel and oil refresh in progress, emergency/sos system unavailable, hybrid power loss, and an airbag system warning. These warnings are documented and have appeared across multiple service visits. The vehicle has been taken to two different authorized Jeep dealerships and has spent nearly a month in service between them. Despite extended diagnostic efforts, neither dealership has been able to identify or repair the underlying issue. The problem remains unresolved. In addition, two active recalls continue to show as incomplete in the system and have not been successfully addressed. As of now, the vehicle is still at the dealership and is not available for use. Given the unresolved loss of power at highway speeds and the incomplete recalls, I do not consider the vehicle safe to operate. I have contacted both Jeep/stellantis and Chrysler capital in writing to request assistance and resolution. Despite providing documentation and allowing ample time for review, I have not received a response or acknowledgment. All repair attempts, warnings, recall status, and communications have been documented. I am seeking resolution because the vehicle remains unsafe, unreliable, and unavailable for normal use despite multiple repair opportunities and extensive time in service.

The manufacturer confirmed the VIN was not included. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 38,000.

The contact owned a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his step daughter was driving at 40 mph, the railroad track poles were lowered. The contact's daughter crashed in to the railroad poles. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. The vehicle came to a stop when the railroad poles landed in the middle of the vehicle. There was property damage to the railroad poles. A police report was filed. The contact and the passenger did not suffer any injuries. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact believes the vehicle will be deemed a total loss however, it was not confirmed yet. The contact mentioned that about six moths ago the fender and bumper were placed due to his step daughter having an accident. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000.

The vehicle is displaying "service hybrid system" when driving at highway speeds. We have been told by the service center that this is just a code b273c-00, an error with the airbag system, and we should not worry about this since it is a computer glitch. I have confirmed with the service advisor that it is now impossible to distinguish a real hybrid system malfunction from a "fake" airbag system warning. I am told that the vehicle is safe to drive and nothing requires repair, however, Jeep star publication case s2408000063 states there is a fix, but it is only to be used to "mitigate buyback. " that is unacceptable and needs to be remedied as soon as possible.

Airbags failed to deploy in a front crash. Passenger side curtain air bags deployed, but none of the others deployed. The lane departure or lane keeping assistance did not work. The vehicle slowly swerved off of the highway with no safety features kicking in to help keep it on the road. No automatic emergency braking started. The vehicle was still going with the cruise control on following the collision. As of 3/20/2025 the vehicle is still available for inspection. This is the first report of this malfunction. The local sheriff was contacted following the accident. I do not have knowledge of who all has inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings or messages that the safety systems were not working. Yes, our safety was at risk. As the driver of the vehicle, I have broken my c2 vertebrae in my neck.

I was driving the service brake assembly light came on the. Then the service stability control light came on, I couldn't do anything, I remember hitting my head off the steering wheel in which air bags did not deploy. Thank god it didn't hit someone else.

Air bag sensor went off, took it to the dealer and they said it could be a loose wire. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle since there has been a recall for prior models due to a faulty sensor which could cause the airbags to malfunction in case of an accident. Also having problems with the screen delaminating.

My vehicle started flashing my seatbelt light when I was driving and I was buckled and then my airbag light came on and my automatic start and stop light came on and have stayed on. I took it into Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram and they charged me $203 to tell me that I don’t have any shorts in the seatbelt wire harness and they found a o. L (over limit) indicating that I have a internal open within the seat, buckle itself,causing the codes and the lights on the dash and that it’ll cost $541. 26 to fix and it is not covered under any warranty, even though I just purchased the vehicle eight months ago and I’m under the 100,000 miles and just approaching the first 5 years. I should be covered. Now my airbags will not work and neither will my auto on and off features. This is a safety concern that should have a recall on it or be covered by mopar.

Was in an accident another car hit us running approximately 45-50 when we was turning in. And no airbags deployed.

On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The abs brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a er visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a lifetime max care warranty through mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.

For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the hcu/abs module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled abs and electronic stability control (esc), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for repair. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled abs and esc system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.

The panel that holds in the knee airbags under the steering wheel came open for no reason and exposed the air bag. The vehicle was not involved in a crash and appears to be a manufacture workmanship issue.

My wife was driving my kids to school and the Jeep went into limp mode. This Jeep relies too much on the battery to run everything and the batteries failed, at 39k and 2 years of ownership. It was showing steering, sos, brake, airbag, anti collision system failures with no prior warnings.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the front seat headrest popped out while I was driving at 35 miles per hour. My daughter was sitting there, and fortunately, no injuries occurred. This happened on the passenger side, but six months ago, it happened on the driver’s side as well, which I replaced with a used part for $200. This is definitely a dangerous defect and needs to be added to the recall list.

Passenger headrest exploded suddenly while driving on highway at highway speeds. Loud bang which made me swerve. No accident or incident preceded, it just exploded. If someone like my wife with neck problems was in the seat she could have been injured. I was told that Jeep has extended the warranty on this item and it appears this happens often. Had this happened to the drivers one I may have had an accident. I suggest they replace drivers headrests to stop an accident in the future.

On Saturday, August 31, I was traveling approximately 50 on a freeway overpass, when my head was hit/jutted forward, causing an immediate migraine. This caused me to hit the brakes a bit and veer a little. Upon stopping and inspecting, the headrest had come apart. After googling, I see there had been a serious issue with the “active headrest restraint” on select Chrysler models. This matches my incident.

The headrest on the drivers seat came apart. We have been unable to get it back together. Car was at rest in a parking lot and very luckily was not being driven at the time. This would be extremely dangerous if the car was being driven when this happened.

Passenger seat headrest exploded and hit my wife in the head/ear/neck and now she is in a lot of pain. This is the most random thing I have ever seen. My wife and daughter were driving through a parking lot going 4mph and the headrest just exploded. The plastic pieces holding the springs back broke and let the headrest fly forward into my wife’s head/ear/neck.

As I was sitting in the back part of my Jeep in the hatch out of nowhere the car shook and a large bang went off. I searched the car to find out what happened I couldn't figure it out. Later when I got home my son noticed that the driver side headrest looked funny. I checked it myself and saw that the driver side air bag on the headrest deployed itself. My car has not been in any accident and the air bag deployed on its own. When I took my car for a routine oil change. I was informed that it's not Jeeps responsibility and I didn't have any warranty coverage.

There is a faulty connection so the airbags may not deploy.

The active headrest restraint system deployed without being in a crash or hitting a bump for that matter. The vehicle was sitting stationary when it deployed. This could be a major safety issue as I have had a history of concussions and if this were to have deployed while I was driving, the consequences could have been severe. I see that they expanded a 10 year warranty for this, but it deployed a couple of months after that 10 year warranty expired. This should be covered for lifetime as it is a malfunctioning safety component that could seriously injure someone or render them incapacitated at highway speeds. All of this is due to a plastic clip failing that holds a metal pin.
