Was driving on the highway and the passenger side air bag activated on its own. Car was not in an accident and did not hit a bump, pothole, etc. This is a huge concern and now I'm being told I need to pay for it deploying. Luckily no one was in the front seat when this occured. This should be a recall.

My Jeep has developed several large wrinkles on the top of the dashboard cover. I've seen comments from other Jeep owners that have the same problem. My concern is that the wrinkles in and stiffness of the dashboard cover might interfere with the deployment of the passenger-side airbag.
Riding down rode. Speedometer and lights failed. Took to dealership while the vehicle was at the shop the walked away to file paperwork and airbags deployed on the vehicle. It was the right side air curtain. The entire length of the unit. According to the dealership the car was sitting motionless on the garage floor.

While driving north on I-75 from manatee county to tampa to go to work, both side air bags self-deployed. I had the car towed to ferman Jeep on sr 54. I called Chrysler and was told that the incident had been elevated and that an investigator would go out and call me within one business day. I called the next day and was told that the issue had been escalated and that I would be called within 1-2 business days, meaning Thursday. I called Thursday and was told I needed to wait until 8pm that evening. No call. I called satruday requesting an update on my vehicle. No call. I called this morning Monday July 7, requested to speak with a supervisor and was told that was not possible. I have no update on my only form of transportation and am desperate to understand, if my vehicle can be fixed. I need temporary transportation. I commute 100 miles in this vehicle every day. I need help escalating my case to the proper people. Thank you.
The leather dash cover is coming loose from the underlying plastic. Effective deployment of the passenger side air bag could be affected. This is a problem Chrysler has known about for years but will not address. It is a problem with the subcontractor not completing the vacuum process when applying the leather cover to the dash. This has occurred slowly over time until it has now become a hazard.

I was driving through town and started getting warning saying that the drivers side airbag needed serviced and drives side seat belt not being detected. I immediately contacted the Chrysler dealership and scheduled an appt. , took Jeep in on first available date and mechanic told me it was a module that had to be ordered and their were only 24 of them in the country, I asked if I have an accident, will the air bad deploy and he said he didn't know, (that being my main concern). He also told me there was a recall on the brake booster and has to order part for that also. It has been almost a month since they ordered parts and they are not in yet. Obviously the dealership isn't concerned enough to expedite the order or give me another vehicle to drive while waiting on parts. I'm wondering, have there been any other reports for 2014 Jeeps with these issues?.
On 10/18/13 I was traveling 40 mph on a main road and an f-250 pulled out into oncoming traffic from being stopped on a side road and we collided. Both our vehicles had to be towed away. I hit his driver side area and my whole front end was smashed, bumper torn off, fluid leaking from the car. It was not drivable. I had my baby in the car seat in the back but he was fine. I was fine too aside from being sore for 3 weeks and getting whiplash but the main issue that concerns me is that my driver side airbag never went off. It seems to me it should have gone off and I'm wondering if something is faulty. We contacted Chrysler and they were supposed to look at it while it was in the shop, didn't do that, now they want us to bring to dealership to have code read and in the meantime I'm still driving around in a potentially unsafe vehicle. And someone else out there with the same type of vehicle might be as well. . . . . . .
The contact owns a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front passenger¿s side air bag deployed erroneously and without warning while the contact was driving 45 mph. The failure burned the wires and caused the electrical system to fail. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the manufacture sent an engineer to inspect the failure. The engineer concluded that the inadvertent air bag deployment was not caused by a manufacturing defect, although the engineer did not provide a specific cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 180,000.
In November 2012, Chrysler and you announced a recall of my and just under a million other 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees m35/NHTSA 12v-527. It is now three months later. About three weeks ago, I received a recall notice, telling me, firstly there was a recall (does it really take two+ months to notify me?) and that Chrysler was hoping the parts for a permanent fix, currently unavailable, would be available as quickly as possible -- with absolutely no hint of how long this might be. Does it really take more than three months to manufacture and distribute a part involved in a safety recall -- "a small chance of an inadvertent deployment of the front . . . Or side airbag! inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. " and, as for NHTSA, shouldn't you be prodding Chrysler to hasten the completion of this recall?.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact was driving 25 mph when the front driver and passenger side air bags suddenly deployed. The contact suffered minor burns to the wrist and the passenger suffered minor burns to the knees as a result of the air bag deployment. The windshield was also fractured. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the failure and the manufacturer advised that the vehicle was outside of warranty and there were no recalls for the failure therefore, they were unable to assist. The vehicle was not involved in a crash. The failure mileage was 99,700.
I own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and both of the side curtain air bags deployed while I was driving. There was no impact or collision. I was making a right hand turn when the air bag light came on. Immediately after that passenger side curtain air bag deployed. Then a couple of seconds later the driver side curtain air bag deployed. I pulled into the store parking lot and had the car towed to a service shop. Insurance investigator determined it was mechanical failure.
I was driving my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I began to take a right turn into a shopping center. Suddenly, without warning, my side curtain airbag deployed with great force. I was able to slow the vehicle and then pull into a parking space without incident. Upon inspection I found that there had been no impact, no damage to my vehicle in any way, except that the side airbag was now hanging down. Chrysler initially refused to pay for any part of the incident, then finally agreed to pay for the airbag to be re-installed. I was made to pay for the airbag sensor ($200), the airbag console ($320) and a $100 deposit on the airbag itself.
In December of 2010 my side airbags deployed spontaneously while turning into a shopping center in woodbridge, va. After surveying the vehicle and finding no evidence of any crash or other reason for the airbag to deploy, I took my vehicle to lustine Jeep in woodbridge, va. They looked over the vehicle and told me that it could not have happened the way I described it. After fighting with Chrysler they agreed to cover some of the cost of replacing the airbag. I was charged $600 total. Then in November of 2012 I learned that Jeep was recalling Grand Cherokees and libertys in my vehicles age range for exactly what I described happened to me in 2010. Since that time I have spoken to numerous people from the Jeep dealership and from Chrysler. I have received one recall notice that told me I would be receiving a second notice once a vendor had been found to produce the new corrective part. I was also told that I could not request a refund of the $600 I was charged until I get the second notice. I was told to expect the second notice in March or April of this year but that has not happened. It is now almost June and Chrysler refuses to address this. I am driving around a vehicle that could pop its airbag at any moment and I cannot get Chrysler to address the money that was taken from me for a safety issue that they should have taken care of in 2010. Please help.
