Side/window Air Bag Problems of Jeep Grand Cherokee - part 2

The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 40 mph, the driver's side air bag deployed unexpectedly followed by the passenger side air bag two seconds later. There was no impact, crash, bumps on the road, or sudden braking to cause the failure. The contact shifted into park and exited the vehicle. She expected the frontal driver's side air bag to deploy, but it never did. She called the manufacturer and they opened an investigation; however, they did not assume responsibility for the failures. The vehicle has not yet been repaired and the contact believes that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect. The current and failure mileages were 90,000. Updated 04-17-09 updated 04/21/09.

After losing power steering vehicle collided with a guard rail. Air bags failed to deploy in the frontal/side collision prior to a head on collision into a median/ditch and a roll over in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Vehicle was totaled so nothing was done to repair. Consequences were a totaled vehicle, loss of personal property and severe bodily damage to driver resulting in brain contusions and hematomas, a 7 in gash on forehead and neck surgery to correct two disc that were crushing spinal cord into a "z" shape>.

Window regulators in this car have broken twice in less than a year and cost $550 to have repaired. I had one repaired in sept 07. I can't afford this and am driving with plastic on my second window this happened too. The windows just drop as I'm driving at 60mph.

I was involved in a collision in which I rear ended another vehicle. I was travelling at approximately 40-45 mph. Upon impact with the other vehicle neither my seatbelt functioned nor the drivers side airbag deployed. This caused injury to my chest when it hit the stearing wheel.

While driving at 20 mph consumer' vehicle was struck on the driver's side while traveling through an intersection. Seat belts were used at the time of the incident, but the side air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained minor injuries. The other vehicle was cited by the attending police officers.

While driving at 20 mph consumer was struck on the driver's side by another vehicle. Upon impact, side curtain air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained injuries, and was treated in the emergency room.

During impact accident,hit deer, passenger side air bag malfunctioned causing chemical burns and injuries to lower extremity.

I was driven off the highway by a snow plow. I was driving more than 40 miles per hour and I struck a tree head on. The complaint results from the fact the driver's side air bag on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not deploy. Although Jeep conducted an inspection of the vehicle, they refused to acknowledge there was a failure.

Consumer was involved in a head on collision traveling about 35-40 mph in which driver's side nor the passenger's side air bags deployed. Consumer has contacted dealer.

When vehicle crashed into a cow while traveling about 45 mph there was no deployment of driver's side or passenger's side air bags. Entire front end of the cherokee was smashed back to the engine.

While sitting at a red light another vehicle hit consumer's vehicle. Uponimpact, driver's side and passenger's side air bags didn't deploy.

Consumer was driving at 35 mph when vehicle was hit on the right side. Vehicle spinned around and was hit again head-on, and then hit again on the right side. Upon impact, driver side and passenger's side air bag didn't deploy.

Vehicle was parked at curve, consumer turned engine on, and vehicle was still in park. Vehicle took off backwards, then dashed forward. Vehicle hit a tree ,and almost a pedestrian. Consumers leg was injured. Dealer was contacted. Please provide any further information. Upon impacting the tree both the driver and passenger air bags deployed, the driver's side air bag exploded from the force of the driver's impact, the driver sustained serious right hip and right femur fractures. Nlm.

The main problem is that my daughter was in an accident on Nov. 12, 1998. She collided with a g20 van. The van has a small dent in the driver side door. Our Jeep is a wreck!! we are not sure if it is a total or not yet. The front is gone. The consol between the driver and passenger seats is bent and not able to close. Therefore I assume that the inside of the frame is bent. Our bumper was in the street and it was styrofoam. The air bags did not deploy!!! my daughter, who was wearing a seat belt, was thrown forward and dislocated her knee cap. I can't believe that this car folded like this. The gentleman in the other car was fine. By the looks of this car we are lucky that my daughter is alive! the other problem is that the car has been repeatedly brought back to the dealer because of mold and mildew. The seals in the windshield and the rear windows and under the car have been sealed over and over. The rug has been replaced and shampooed over and over. This car is a lemon!! this car is a lease car. I have listed us as the owners but actually it is the lease company. Please advise me as to what to do.

While driving at 60 mph, the driver's side air bag deployed for no apparent reason, causing the driver to lose control of Jeep and crash. Driver sustained injuries, such as broken collar bone/neck damage/nerve & right shoulder damage. The Jeep was totalled. 780008 dup of 823900; posted on 09-07-1999.

Received recall notice (#97v08000), called dealer. Took vehiclein for repairs. Later, picked vehicle up. Noticd there was no horn & no driver's side air bag. Dealer said had no parts & mfgr said does not know when parts will be available or in stock.

On a rainy evening as vehicle was approaching a stop sign it veered into another vehicle, and driver's side airbag didn't deploy.

While pulling out of a parking lot at speed of 7mph air bag deployed without any indication, causing injury to consumer. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information.

Consumer notices that the passenger side air bag was bubbling.

The vehicle hit a tree, the frontal air bags deployed, however the side air bags did not.
